I forgot how quick this thread moves. I weighed in and am up 3lbs. But it's not too bad. The only problem is I can't seem to get back into it. I'm at 1839 which is all down to snacking and left over choc! Hoping that being back at with might help me get back into the rhythm. Aiming for 5lbs this month.

coragreta · 02/01/2017 20:14

Back at work.

Sugarandsalt · 02/01/2017 20:15

Need it is a nice website; she's gluten free and dairy free so I adjust some of the recipes to suit the family (we are not dairy or gluten free).

Cheddar that sounds like a good start, it gets easier and easier as time goes on.

I had a good day- had my short run this morning and did lots of tidying. Dinner was lovely and the cauliflower colcannon was actually delicious so I'll be doing that again. I'm having leftovers for dinner tomorrow.

Making a cauliflower salad now for lunch tomorrow/Wednesday.

SesameSparkle · 02/01/2017 20:45

not hope you feel better Flowers

loli this is me 3 years on with running - when I started I was only able to run in 60s bursts. 2 miles in 30mins is excellent! Star

sugar your food sounds great. What else goes in to those courgette/carrot fritters? Beaten egg?

need As I understand it, smoothies don't fill you up anything close to eating the original fruit whole, unless you add protein or something like oats. I gave all smoothies/juice etc. back when I lost my original weight 3/4 years ago.

immature well done on your lunch out

cora you can definitely do 5lb, once you get back to routine I'm sure you will be able to get back into it

Kitchen closed on 1631 today. That's okay by me. Posting this early so as to try and resist any more snacks tonight. I've the rest of the week off and really want to get stuck into some sorting in the house, but I'm finding it hard to get started. I still have a rail of clothes that are too big for me, but I can't quite bring myself to throw them out just yet. I've only just about picked off a few garments as I needed the hangers to put my new clothes away.... Blush

Not2bObvious · 02/01/2017 21:27

Thanks guys for all the well wishes, sadly still feeling very sore of throat - probably not full blown tonsillitis but v swollen glands and drained. Sadly not affecting my appetite! I'm feeling very blobby and raging I couldn't get back to running today, had really wanted to get back into it and shift the bloat before facing the scales. I'm pretty sure it'll be a nasty gain looking in the mirror, oh well 10 days on will take 20 days to get it off no doubt. Kids off school until next Monday so a bit of juggling with work, not looking forward to that. Did enjoy the last week off immensely, felt like I got lots in with the mini break in the middle. I think I need to listen to my Paul McKenna tonight & attempt to return to those rules, they worked great before Christmas. I don't do dry January but I'll attempt a slightly less wet one😉 Going to take a paracetamol with sleep aid in it with the hope I'll get some pain relief and decent sleep. Nighty night all

Sesame. Must be a great feeling to have some new smaller clothes. I can't wait to buy myself a whole new wardrobe!

Sorry you're not feeling well Not. Hope you're better soon and you can get back to running! I'm doing my first one in 3 weeks tomorrow. Think I'm going to have to take it slow.

JontyDoggle37 · 02/01/2017 23:08

Hello all. Making a return after many months absence. not sorry to hear you're under the weather. I got to my original goal weight (9st 12) in February, then put four pounds back on due to holidays etc and then, After starting a new job in August I have piled it back on, so to get back to original goal I need to lose a stone! 😳☹️️ And my revised goal is 9st 10, so actually I've got 16lbs to lose. Aiming to complete by 18th March, which is when I've booked a papmper and shopping day with a friend who is also losing weight, for a joint celebration of our weight loss.

Needastrongone · 03/01/2017 07:20

How you feeling today Not? Any better, or still in the thick of it?

Cheddar - I love salads of any sort but would sorely miss the wine I must admit!

Hi Jonty, I am fairly new round these parts. I'm sure you will lose the 16lb pretty quickly now that you have focused on this goal.

Sesame, I've got a Nutribullet, so the fruit/veg/seeds all go it whole and they still don't fill me up!!! It was bloody delicious though, I have to admit. Smile Clear those clothes, you won't use them again. It might be a good psychological process to go through too maybe?

I'm another 1lb down this morning, so I'm 7st 5lbs. This is the running I feel as I'm eating well and plenty and having wine every evening.

However, no exercise today as I am working all day.

Brekkie - Avo on toast.
Lunch - Bagel with probably cheese salad (STILL have cheese from Christmas) and fruit.
Dinner - Homemade lasagna and a massive salad.
Snack - Wine.

Not2bObvious · 03/01/2017 07:31

Feeling rotten need, will be ringing the doctors once they open to beg to be seen. Painkillers aren't touching it and it's in my ears now too. Bad as it sounds I'm hoping its bacterial then at least I can get anti-b's & they turn things around quick enough. If it's viral I'm in for a rough few days.
Gosh jonty, long time no "see" - sorry to hear of the regain, far too easily done sadly. You'll be back ontrack in no time.

OP posts:
Needastrongone · 03/01/2017 07:36

Flowers Not. Let us know how you get on. x

I've changed my mind, breakfast is porridge made with coconut water an a teaspoon of cocoa powder, with blueberries on top!

Sugarandsalt · 03/01/2017 08:21

Sesame congrats on your new clothes! My size 12s are uncomfortably tight and I ditched most of my 14s so have a major motivation to lose what I gained! The fritters are very simple- grated carrot/courgette, a beaten egg, a tbsp flour, and I threw in some mixed seeds too- just a tsp of so. Shaped into little golf balls and flattened. Then fried in a little oil until crispy. That was enough for DH, DD and me (DD is tiny with a tiny portion!). Had a poached egg and a turkey rasher with it and was full for ages. Fussy 2 year old also ate it which was a win.

Cora I'm sure you'll be in new clothes soon.

Hello Jonty, I've got a wedding that same weekend so also hoping to be down a little over a stone by then.

Not hope you start feeling better soon. A duvet day with daytime tv seems in order.

Need smoothies don't fill me up either. I'd never thought of coconut water with porridge, sounds really good. I've been using almond milk as I like the nutty flavour but could do with a change sometimes.

I popped on scales and am back to 11 13.5 (1.5lbs) so I think the bloat is going but there's definitely 5-6 real lbs there too; my clothes don't lie.

Started day with a dollop of Greek yoghurt, pomegranate seeds and a teaspoon of mixed seeds with a teaspoon of chopped nuts on top. (210cals)

Lunch: roasted cauliflower dressed in turmeric, pine nuts and pomegranate with a lemon/tahini/yoghurt dressing (375cals for a large portion). Also hard boiled an egg as a mid afternoon snack. (80cals)

Dinner: same as yesterday (460cals).

That brings me to 1120 but I'm sure I'll have some fruit to finish up at 1300 or so. I'm on call tonight so no exercise planned but if it's quiet may do a 30day shred video.

JontyDoggle37 · 03/01/2017 08:50

Morning, and thanks for the welcome back! 😁Meals all planned for the day and remembered to bring my lunch to work, so I'm on track for a good day. The good thing about work is I'm always too busy to snack! Also started the day with some stretches and a big glass of water, and the scales are telling me I lost the bloat, so down to 10st 9.75, which means I've got less than a stone to go, yay!

Not2bObvious · 03/01/2017 11:11

That's great jonty, what a nice start. I know what you mean sugar, the scales says 1 thing but the clothes another - just bloat, it'll disappear after a few good days. I v luckily got a doctors appointment (I think it's easier here in Ireland than uk?) and as I suspected or hoped, it's strep. I know I sound mad hoping it was this but at least I can take something but the doc told me it's going to be a rough few days - no sh*t Sherlock, I like Lego & I've 2 kids at home with me but my blessing is my bigger one is great and will mind me and the smaller one. But at the end of the day, I still need to keep an eye (or ear!) on them. I just don't want them getting it so no cuddles😥 All I want is salty snacks & orange juice, great start to the diet eh? Anyway enough moaning, started my first dose of drugs, by Friday I'll be over the worst of it

Lolimax · 03/01/2017 11:14

Hi jonty
Look at me learning to bold. Just goes to show you can teach an old dog new tricks, I've only been a MNer 2 years lol! Back to work today, nasty. Zumba tonight, be nice to see everyone again. Somehow, even with running I've managed to tip over 12 stone. It'll be gone soon but I'm not Happy!
not hope your feeling better.

Sugarandsalt · 03/01/2017 11:18

Poor not, it's miserable being sick and in charge of kids. Hope you start to get better soon. Try not to worry too much about the food while you are ill, you know you can get it off again.

Jonty I struggle with forgetting lunch too. It's very easy to just leave it in the fridge! Need to remind myself in the mornings!

Donteatthekidssweets · 03/01/2017 11:27

Hi all, I posted a few weeks back but seem to have lost my way Blush. Braved the scales yesterday and I've put 4lb on over Christmas. Started MFP again yesterday and 2lbs off this morning so some must have been water. Doing 1400 calories, 10,000 steps and exercise 5 times a week. Any other tips? Aiming for stone in 14 weeks

coragreta · 03/01/2017 14:31

Not. Try not to worry about food. Cravings when you're sick will mean you need something. Vit C if you want orange juice!

Jonty stretches sound like a great way to start the day might have to try that.

I'm in track for 1298 but I was on track at this time yesterday too. I'm also going running tonight so that should cancel any extra if I do eat more.

immaturecheddar · 03/01/2017 14:54

not You poor thing, I really do hope you feel better soon. Flowers I had strep throat and it is so so awful.

Hi jonty. I'm also aiming for my 10k steps each day which is bloody harder than I thought.

Another challenge overcome for me today; went for lunch with a friend and I had another salad whilst she bought a fucking HUGE bowl of chips for us to share. I had one and logged it Grin

DS1 back to school tomorrow so I'm going to try and fit in a big walk with DS2 and the buggy.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

immaturecheddar · 03/01/2017 14:56

Sorry the second name check should have been not. Bloody phone app Blush

LadyMumble · 03/01/2017 15:10

Hello everyone, I'm so pleased I've found you

I have just dipped back in to MFP after deciding I really need to get myself back in shape. The thing motivating me at the moment is being able to fit back into clothes that are hanging in my wardrobe rather than having to replace them all. I'm also noticing niggling aches and pains that I think would be lessened if I were stronger. My diet has been awful recently, definitely linked to feeling low. I'm feeling inspired having read through this thread and need to write a meal plan and shopping list now.

One thing I hadn't noticed before is that you can have friends on MFP, do people find this positive? I don't like the thought of adding irl friends as find them a touch competitive when it comes to diet and fitness. Am I being overly cautious though?

Needastrongone · 03/01/2017 16:52

Don't. No tips here, but a stone in 14 weeks seems achievable and realistic. You seem to be doing all the right things. Smile

Hi Lady. Meal planning and shopping lists are the way to keep you on track. I tend not to eat at all when low, so it's different but I think I understand. You are doing something positive so that's great! I personally post on here and do my own thing on MFP, I haven't added anyone at all.

Grin at Cheddar logging a chip.

I love almond milk too Sugar, in fact I shall add it to the Ocado shop, as I haven't had it for ages. That porridge filled me up no end and I only had my sandwich for lunch, no fruit.

Enjoy Zumba tonight Loli.

I will be over today as I've worked all day and done no exercise but I'm not fussed, I'm walking the dogs twice a day again from tomorrow and running 10 miles with the club in the evening.

Filled my boots with M&S reduced fresh fruit and veg. I would have thought, in the first week on January, this would have been the last thing they needed to reduce but hey ho. Smile

JontyDoggle37 · 03/01/2017 17:11

cheddar your willpower is amazing (and you made me laugh out loud on the train at logging the chip 😁)
Not I'm glad for you it's Strep, at least there's something they can do. I do a hot drink that helps - hot water, freshly squeezed lemon, honey and freshly grated ginger. Not too many calories and really seems to soothe things. Also, chicken noodle soup made with stock, chicken, noodles, chilli, ginger and garlic and a splash of soy and fish sauce will give our immune system a good old boost too.
I've got a really nice dinner planned tonight - Mexican Chorizo and Potato hash - tasty, filling and lots of veggies in it too. I've also managed to drink my four big glasses of water already today so pleased I got that done.

DawheadAwgusEeentock · 03/01/2017 18:28

Happy New Year everyone!!

Need I'm sitting here w/ mouth open knowing that you went for a run after NYE and on so little sleep! You're superwoman - and your willpower is brilliant. Also in awe at throwing away some yule log last week Wink. Well done on all the exercise over the last few days!

Sesame loved the mug on NYE Grin. You've had a great start to the year calorie wise - and you've very little to lose.

Not so sorry you're so under the weather - lots of Flowers and Brew. Agree with everything said already about not worrying about food for the next few days until you're better.

You mentioned last week about steroid injections for my knees - I didn't even know there was such a thing! Getting slightly fed up with my GP, but my plan is to try a new physio first and then back to GP if that doesn't help.

Also, if it helps you feel better, I also have v old clothes in my w/robe - some since I started work 19 years ago Blush.

Loli sorry but I did giggle at you being eyed up and DH laughing on NYE - the cheek of them both Grin. That slight tip over 12 will be gone in no time - enjoy the zumba!

Sugar Wow you had a brilliant 2016 and 1.5lbs gone already is brilliant - well done! I'm impressed with you all doing so much spring cleaning and clearouts already.

Cheddar welcome Flowers! Well done on the healthy lunches already! Let us know if you need any help using MFP, but all I can say is the tracking combined with the support on here has been a life changer for me last year.

Cora I can't help as I can't get back into it either - but it's brilliant you're doing a run tonight and over the next week or so we'll all get back on track as the food runs out Wink.

Hi Jonty I must have joined after you were here last! Well done on the loss already and a stone is v achievable in what, 10/11 weeks?

Welcome back Dont! And well done on the loss already. I am in no position to give tips after my Xmas binge-fest, but one thing I've learned is that if I don't buy it I can't eat it. Also, I find posting (and reading the posts) on here such a huge support.

Welcome Mumble Flowers! I don't have any RL people on MFP and not sure I would want to either. I will make more of an effort to post my boring food on here though.

So my last proper update was Fri afternoon and what a calorie-laden time it's been since then...sigh. Notable shameful highlights include:

  • Finished early Friday so went to cinema to see Rogue One (v good). Brought a bag of Xmas peanuts with me (the honey roast special editions one) expecting to have some and weigh it when I got home. Ended up Eating.The.Whole.Bag. Got home and calculated the calories - 1,285! Angry
  • Full Xmas dinner again on NYD, incl Xmas pudding etc. Ended day on 3,800 cals Sad.
  • Full pre-work depression in the Dawhead household yesterday led to biscuits, choccies and pringles galore. Worst snack-day yet and ended on 3,800 again Sad.

Anyway, the only good thing about being back at horrible work is that the routine is back (sort of). Although I had choccie biccies for breakfast so upto 1,600 so far incl planned dinner. There might be Xmas cake tonight though Blush.

Breakfast - 2 choccie biccies and coffee Blush.
Lunch - boiled egg, black & white pudding, bread
Dinner - cod fillet, spuds, veg
Snacks - 2 choccies, 4 more choccie biccies (so far)

Had a look at my stats. Weighed in Sunday morning at 64.2kg (10st 1.5lbs) but I expect that'll be back up by tomorrow. Started 2016 at 11st 4.5 so not a huge loss throughout the year, but I had gone up to 12st 1 at my highest point in July. Very slow progress really, although I am proud that I finally did it Halo.

It's so strange creating my spreadsheet for 2017, as it's the first time in years I expect to hit target. Although not sure exactly what that should be. Might aim for 61kg to start with and then see how I look/feel when I get to that.

Going to stick at maintenance for at least another week though. I know I'm being defeatist, but I won't be able to get back on track until all the Xmas food is gone - and I just haven't the heart/willpower to throw it away.

My goal was to stay under 65.4kg for Xmas but my weekly average before any snacks tonight is 2,600, so not very optimistic about WI tomorrow.

SesameSparkle · 03/01/2017 19:09

not get well soon! Flowers

jonty nice to meet you. That's a good goal you have there, I'm sure you can make it if you put your mind to it.

need I'm not quite ready to clear out all the good clothes, but I shall start this week at least getting rid of those that are obviously worn and joyless and maybe those a couple of sizes too big for me now.

sugar thanks for the recipe, I might try those fritters out. It looks like you are making a really good start

loli go you getting back into your routine, I'm sure you'll be the right side of 12st soon enough!

don't welcome back. You're in good company with the Xmas gains, but we will all be going in the right direction from now on

cora sounds like a good day Star

immature well done on resisting the chips!

lady welcome

dawhead by your own stats you've lost 2st in 6m - that's amazing! Once you finally ditch all those treats I'm sure you will absolutely be on it....

I had a day out with my friend today. Started with a big breakie before I left the house so when we stopped for coffee in the afternoon, I just had coffee and resisted all the other tempting things.... Grin I've also chalked up 13,000 steps today. I've just eaten my tea a bit early as I was starved when I got in. Allowing for a little bit of dark choc later on, I should hopefully finish on track just under 1700.

Donteatthekidssweets · 03/01/2017 19:16

I'm finding it harder to do 10,000 steps than I thought as well, even though I went for a run this morning I'm still only at 8250. Might have to brave the cold and have a troll round the block! On track for 1400 hundred calories though and been shopping for loads of healthy food. I've already cleared out the rest of the Christmas stash.
