The last thread inspired us to shift the pounds so let's kick October's butt too!

Oh Quim, that's so annoying about swimming.

My friends have been slagging me about all the running I've been doing recently, but I know that if I take a break from it I will have to work so hard to get back to where I am now.

There again, I can see I won't be able to keep it up for the rest of this week even 😋

I really hope I am back on this wagon.

5minutestobed · 03/10/2016 12:06

Hello can I join? I'm 12st8 (only 5ft) Ideal goal weight would be pre children weight of 9st but even to get to 10 would be great.
Ds2 is five months and the 4month sleep regression plus a nasty cold means there's not a lot of sleeping going on. Struggling not to just eat a load of junk and sit on my bum!

DoinItFine · 03/10/2016 12:12

5minutes if you are even trying to resist empty, tasty cakories with a 5 month old baby, you are very virtuous.

:)

Welcome, but don't be hard on yourself. Life is tough when you aren't getting enough sleep.

QuimReaper · 03/10/2016 12:46

I know it's a typo but "cakories" made me Grin Cake

Corneliagoescamping · 03/10/2016 12:48

I'm joining too please. Not much to lose, 7lb and will be done, but struggling to shift it. Failed miserably in September. October here we come. 5ft7, 10st, would like to be 9st 7lb.

DoinItFine · 03/10/2016 12:52

Maybe a Freudian typo Grin Cake

Cakories LOL

Welcome, Cornelia. I think we are fighting the same battle. Sigh :)

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 03/10/2016 14:28

Not a great start due to finishing chocolate cake on Saturday and then DH buying a slab of Cadbury's Fruit & Nut yesterday, but we will ignore all that and start again today! I do think I need to pick an approach. I'm aiming for 5:2 this week, but do you think it's healthier/more sustainable to eat 3 healthy meals, that aren't always carb-based, rather than try fasting, the Blood Sugar Diet or complete low-carb (which always makes me binge on cake/chocolate)? Essentially, just cut out snacks/sweets/crisps?

On the exercise front, I went to a trampoline class yesterday and I have ordered the Jillian Michaels' Ripped in 30 DVD because it's not available on YouTube and I'm fed up of Shredding.

Dizzywizz · 03/10/2016 14:40

I'm going to try just healthy foods, and cut out crap. Just got to not buy it in the first place! Got my youngest sons bday today, celebrated a bit yesterday as dh at work today so we had cake yesterday, then birthday tea today and so more cake today, this weekend we've got 2 family dos (we do my side and dh side separately du to language difficulties) including a massive chinese banquet - I'll have to eat nothing else all week!!

DoinItFine · 03/10/2016 14:48

TooExtra - I think you just have to find the approach that works for you, your body and your metabolism.

I tried 5:2 once for about 6 weeks and I absolutely HATED it. It just wasn't for me.

But I have friends who swear by it. I love the idea of it, but my body doesn't cope with fast days well.

Frestelli · 03/10/2016 14:50

TEIC and Dizzy the NoSDiet could help you out! www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weight_loss_chat/2734156-the-s-diet

TheresAlwaysTimeForTea · 03/10/2016 14:52

Hello, any room for me? Desperate to slim down for Christmas as spending it with the in-laws and they're all as thin as rakes!

plumstone · 03/10/2016 15:09

DoinItFine - I can't do 5:2 tried and failed on more than one occasion - however I am a big fan of 16:8 where I eat all my food between 10am and 6pm - don't feel bloated when going to bed, or panic about breakfast before leaving for work - take it all with me and have breakfast at work about 10:30am, lunch about 2pm today was chicken casserole and veg, and then something like ryvita and a banana about 5:30pm - I have RL friends who say this is not healthy - don't really care it works for me - no indigestion or gastro pain - and when I don't deviate (the weekends are a problem Grin it works!!

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 03/10/2016 16:55

I also 16:8 though tend to start eating around 12 and finish by 7pm so I basically skip breakfast and stick to TDEE in eating hours. When I stick to it I definitely see results, work days are easy - just weekends I need to rein it in!

leesmum · 03/10/2016 18:13

I've had a really good day, weetabix for breakfast, apple and satsuma for lunch and chicken and pasta salad for tea. Going for a run tonight too....am determined to do it this month!
Keep up the good work Grin

QuimReaper · 03/10/2016 18:22

Welcome TEIC, I think cutting out the crap is definitely a good idea if you can stick to it. I think a lot of people like the 5:2 because it isn't "I can't have x" it's "I can have x tomorrow"; however, with some people it leads to bingeing. It works for me when I stick to it, but I do have to keep an eye on myself.

Cornelia we have about the same to lose, I'm just trying to ditch the last half-stone or so and also made very little progress in September! We can be buddies Smile

plumstone why on earth shouldn't the 16:8 be healthy? It's very sensible in my opinion! Really helps me, when I get into it, to stop dinner time creeping into the late evening. Eating earlier makes it easier to eat well, too, in my experience.

ponygirlcurtis · 03/10/2016 18:38

A decent day here (so far). It was cakes and sweet treats-agogo in the staffroom today, a birthday plus weekend party leftovers. I was very virtuous and had a small handful of popcorn only. Nearly at my personal step goal for the day too.

MsMermaid · 03/10/2016 19:28

I've had a good day so far too. I wasn't hungry at breakfast time so didn't have any, then had a sandwich plus 2 tiny gingerbread men for lunch. I was STARVING by the time I was finished work so I had a small chupa chop lolly (because that's what was in my bag Blush) which has eased the hunger pangs for a bit. We're having a takeaway tonight, but I'll save half of it for tomorrow's lunch so it's not too bad.

Frestelli · 03/10/2016 19:47

Good day here too but think I'll be sitting on my hands again tonight! Breaking the snacking habit will not break me! Grin

QuimReaper · 03/10/2016 20:55

Great day here: successful fast day, 8km walked and FORTYFUCKINGFOUR lengths! I'm four lengths off a mile! Grin

VulvaInLaw · 03/10/2016 20:58

Marking place! Started low carb lite last week to get me into the swing of things, have about 1.5 stones to lose to feel better about myself, but would be happy with 7lbs in October!

BitOutOfPractice · 03/10/2016 22:42

Oh. Oh dear Shock

I've been to the pub instead of the grip shop

OP posts:
NightWanderer · 04/10/2016 02:47

So, I weighed myself yesterday and I was 92.0kg, which is the heaviest I've ever been in my life Shock

Didn't run yesterday as I work late on Mondays but will try and do something today.

This morning I was 91.5kg and I managed to resist the lure of Dime bars in Ikea, so feeling hopeful.

DustyOfSkye · 04/10/2016 03:06

Is it too late to join in?

I'm hoping to lose 1 stone. Mainly by cutting out alcohol and pasta, my two vices.

On day 1. small bowl of pasta for the day. no alcohol. calories consumed - 1500.

If I can keep it up, I'll be losing around 1lb a week.

DustyOfSkye · 04/10/2016 03:18

Oh I should add I'm 5ft so 1500 is what's recommended for my height.

TyrionLannisterforKing · 04/10/2016 03:28

I will eagerly follow this thread, being, while not my highest, 10kg heavier than I was at this time last year.

Honestly, I think that just by cutting my late night "snack", of at least 500cal, I will notice a change, but I really must get my binge eating by control.

I am:
Size 14
5'7/170cm
14.4st/91.4kg

I realistically want to be:
11st/70kg

My unachiavable weight, due to my unwillingliness to make too many sacrifices, is:
9.4st/60 kg Which is what I weighted before puberty + MH pills kicked in.
