Not - yea! Grab that determination and you'll be in the 10s looking extra hot and sassy in that jumpsuit come your Xmas parties. hope I'm not coming across too bossy

Not2bObvious · 02/11/2016 08:31

No! Not at all, I really appreciate the encouragement & virtual nudge in the right direction. I don't want to go backwards, I have to push through - it's just too easy to say feck it and lose the plot, got to accept that's what got me to nearly 13 stone again in Feb 2015, I could go back there wayyy too easily

Down to 10.4.6 today, so 1lb down, but still 2lb away from my low of a few weeks ago. I'm not being wildly strict but trying to come in below maintenance each day at least.

Not2bObvious · 02/11/2016 10:45

That's great hope that it's coming down - if a pound is gone already, the other 2 will melt off by the end of the week if you stick to maintenance I reckon - just a little bloat, that's all

OP posts:
Sugarandsalt · 02/11/2016 11:17

Hello all. Was miserable yesterday, managed slices of toast and a biscuit all day. Unsurprisingly down to 11 10 today, but woke ravenous so I'm sure the two pounds will be straight back on.

FrickOnAStick · 02/11/2016 11:17

Hi folks. Can I join if I'm using MFP in conjunction with 5:2?

I've got about a stone to lose and started on Monday. I've been using MFP on and off for a good 3 years, mostly as a food diary (nutritional balance monitoring really) rather than as a weight loss/maintenance aid. Though I have used it in as a calorie control device in the past too and found it useful.

My daily calorie intake is calculated at 1310, that's quite low. Especially with 2x fast days per week. I need to stay away from bread - high in calories for me (toast for breakfast and sandwiches for lunch would almost wipe out my daily allowance). I also find my stomach is flatter when I cut out bread, though I wouldn't say I had any particular intolerance. It's probably just the extra calories I'm not eating!

Monday was a fast day, I did ok. Yesterday wasn't brilliant, I ended up going over by 204cals. If I can stay on track the rest of the week and end on a deficit, I should be fine and will be happy with my first week. It's always hard to make changes so I'm trying not to let one slip destroy the whole shebang.

Not2bObvious · 02/11/2016 11:30

Welcome frick, have you looked at the 5:2 boards for advice as well because you shouldn't be dieting the other 5 days, the point of 5:3 is 500 for 2 and maintenance/tdee calories for the other 5. So probably 1600-1800 the other 5 days? There is a wealth of v clued in people over there, have a read & of course come back to us😉 IMHO and personal experience, you run the risk of burning out if you're too hard on yourself. If you're struggling with 500, start higher & work your way down - anything under 800 is a v successful fast day in my book, under 1000 isn't shabby either.

OP posts:
FrickOnAStick · 02/11/2016 12:30

Thanks, yeah. I've looked at the 5:2, I'm on them. My TDEE is low anyway. I'll review my cals. Maybe adjust my settings.

SesameSparkle · 02/11/2016 13:56

dawhead I struggle with the clocks changing too –even though the clocks have gone back I end up going to bed later and later, it makes no sense. Confused

bath, sorry about your sad news. Flowers

not today is a new day – you can turn this around, keep your eyes on the prize!

hopefully well done, that’s a lb in the right direction

sugar I hope that today is a better day

frick welcome, what are your statistics if you don’t mind sharing?

I’ve still not adjusted my mfp allowance to maintenance. Yesterday I came in 1 calorie under my 1660, the day before was about 150 over. A colleague told me yesterday that I’m wasting away…. Hmm What is it with everyone thinking they have a right to comment on a woman’s weight….? I’m now bmi 24, yes of course slimmer than I was, but there’s still plenty of me.

DawheadAwgusEeentock · 02/11/2016 18:29

cora that's brilliant that you're working towards a 10k! I bet we'd be shocked (in a good way) if we added all our weight loss totals.

Bath well done for the steps and resistance yesterday Star. Very sorry about the bad news Flowers hope you are ok. And yay for being back in the 11s - you will stay there this time Grin

Not Glad you are doing well today - you've just got into bad habits for a few days so you need to go cold turkey and by Friday you will be back on the wagon! Guzzling water is a good idea - coffee might help too if you like it.

Hopefully well done on another 1lb Star you are doing great!

Sugar gosh you must have got a right dose yesterday - are you back on the mend today? Hopefully it's a good sign that you're hungry.

Welcome Frick Flowers. Very impressed that you are doing 5:2 - I looked into it before I started this but I wasn't sure I'd be able for it. You're at a similar goal to Pyjamas so you might be there by Christmas too!

Sesame people are ridiculous with weight comments. Mostly I think they mean well, but they don't think about how it sounds. Is that an Irish expression b/c my DParents are always telling me I'm wasting away Hmm yea right I've still got a stone to lose. Anyway, if you can, try to see the funny side of it and I'm sure she really meant that you look fabulous Flowers.

Weigh-in today and down 0.7kg from last week, but that's only a net loss of 1.3 lbs in 2 weeks. Very disappointed Sad as I was hoping for ~1lb a week. Now at 67.4kg (~10.9). I guess I just need to try bringing my average back closer to 1300 this week and see if it helps. Sigh. Coming in at 1110 today so good start I guess (porridge breakfast, egg sandwich for lunch and ravioli for dinner).

coragreta · 03/11/2016 09:37

Sesame. I love when people tell me I've lost weight. I find it a confidence boost.
Daw. Any loss is good. Remember the more you lose the harder it becomes.

A tiny bit over yesterday. 1249 but not too bad. Planning to be at 1202 today and I'm hoping to get a run in. (Although I was supposed to run yesterday so we shall see).

Sugarandsalt · 03/11/2016 10:06

Hello all, I've been very quiet on here (busy at work at the moment and toddler not sleeping due to coughing this week!).

Sesame people find it hard seeing the difference in us I think, but I think it's best to find your own happy point.

As for me my appetite came back big time yesterday! Had about 2000cals but had only 800 Tuesday and 300 Monday.

Back on track today.

Bath sorry to hear you had sad news.

Dawhead at your weight any loss is a win I think!

Not2bObvious · 03/11/2016 10:55

I sometimes people mention weight with women for something to say, in my case anyway! Mainly cause I wouldn't have lost anything significant to notice.
Yesterday was better than the days before but still bad. Scales is showing a significant gain today & the jeans are quite snug. 1 step forward, 2 steps back....sigh

Bathsheba3 · 03/11/2016 11:54

Very pleasantly surprised with 1/2 lb loss this morning, so now 11 12.5. I so nearly caved & had wine last night, which would have led to chocolate. but held strong. Need to be tasting my own medicine after dolling it out so freely yesterday Wink.

Thank you for the thoughts and flowers. Very kind, but they really need to go to my friend who's husband is in a hospice. They have primary school DC. Life can be so cruel to the loveliest of people. Sad

Car still at the garage, so plenty more steps. Thank goodness the weather is so glorious. Would be pretty miserable running around in the rain.

Glad you are feeling better Sugar - but sorry about your poorly chick. Don't get yourself too exhausted - it has a habit of backfiring.

1249 is more than not bad cora. I'd say it's brilliant. Keep that up and you'll be loosing, run or no run.

Dawhead - sorry you are disappointed. But try not to be - it was still a loss, and maybe the rest is saving itself up for a bigger whoosh later on in the week.

I'm another that gets motivated by people noticing weight loss Sesame . Sometimes I think they say it as they are secretly jealous, which gives me more incentive Wink I'm not really a nasty person, honest

Feel for you Not - think you are just out-of-the-groove with your mindset. It's easily done, with no easy way to re-boot. Best thing to do is go with the flow, and if you are going to eat more calories / junk, make sure it is less than if you were in binge mood. That way you satisfy the urge, but still feel something positive as you haven't gone full blast. Does that make sense? probably not.

Glad you had a loss hope. You sound very in control! And good luck Frick.

Wondering how you are doing Loli? Come back to us if you can, just for a chat?

Not2bObvious · 03/11/2016 13:03

It does make sense, thanks bath Oh your poor friend, how awfully cruel this life is, makes you count your blessings

OP posts:
Not2bObvious · 03/11/2016 13:04

Oh and well done on resisting the vino - that's one thing I've managed too. Nice to see another .5 gone too

OP posts:
DawheadAwgusEeentock · 03/11/2016 16:32

cora 1249 is excellent and so is today's target - esp if you go for a run! You are doing great with the exercise.

Sugar Glad you're on the mend and back on track! That's a great average so far Wink for all the wrong reasons of course.

Not as long as you're gradually getting back to plan that's the main thing. Keep focusing on the numbers and even if you can knock 50 off your cal total every day then you're heading in the right direction. And you've got your gym plan that will make an amazing difference once you start! And and ... you're resisting the wine so that's brilliant!

Lolimax · 03/11/2016 21:01

Hello all! Sorry I've been MIA all week. Fab weekend away and I actually rode a bike (no stabilisers!) for the first time in years. I also went back to work today. Anxiety is still high but the AD's are starting to work. DD still isn't great but with a lot of nagging she went back to the Drs today and is having blood tests on Tuesday, including thyroid.
I managed to loose 7lbs in October and am now 12.10, so one lb off 3 and a half stone. I'll aim for 4 stone and call it at 12.2 then try and maintain.
Hope you're all good?

Not2bObvious · 04/11/2016 06:21

Lovely to hear from you loli, sounds like you had a great weekend away and you sound brighter - how was your first day back? Good to go in on a Thursday so you only have today to go until the weekend. I haven't been on a bike in ooh 25 years? Was toying with the idea of buying one but a bit unsure with the winter coming in, could end up in the possessions pile (with the exercise DVDs etc)
Scales is still shocking but down 1.6 from yesterday. Up around 3lb from last Friday although some of that is sluggish bowel related (not enough though)
dawg I think 1.3 is great, you're really quite light now and losses really slow when you're around your bodies comfort weight. I reckon Mother Nature is at play with woman, keeping up padded in case of babies, biatch😉
And here we are again on danger day, ahh Friday the gateway to gluttony. No big promises today from me, just aiming to get through it relatively unscathed. Dh is yearning for Chinese tonight, I'm dreading the thoughts of salt bloat but I can't deny everyone else a nice meal cause I'm a salt soak! Anyone doing anything nice this weekend?

OP posts:
Not2bObvious · 04/11/2016 06:23

And loli I'm in awe of your 7lb in October - I think you're wonderful to be losing while dealing with a crappy health hand - kudos👏

OP posts:
Sugarandsalt · 04/11/2016 09:24

Great to hear from you loli, hope things are getting better and well done on weight loss!

Well I've lost the run of myself a bit. Had toast before bed bringing yesterday to 1700. It's been 10months and I'm getting a bit sick of calorie counting (even though I'm now getting so close to goal!). I'm going to eat at maintenance for the next few days to give myself a break and then next Monday back to 1300cals and 30day shred I've decided. DD slept through last night for the first time in a week so I'm feeling a bit brighter today.

I've had visitors for 10days and been ill/DD has been ill. Visitors leave today and DD much better so I'm planning a relaxed weekend.

coragreta · 04/11/2016 12:41

Up a lb this morning wtf! I haven't been bad this week. (Although I didn't run last night as LO

coragreta · 04/11/2016 12:44

Sorry posted too soon. Lo is poorly so didn't run.
I'm a little fed up of calorie counting too. But I think I'll be doing it for the rest of my life - not sure I'll be able to maintain any weight loss if I don't take care with what I'm eating after.

Good luck for the weekend everyone I know that's often the hardest time to stay on track.

Not2bObvious · 04/11/2016 13:36

Aww that sucks cora, but don't worry I'm sure it's just bloat/retained waste. Hope your lo is ok now?
Yes, the calorie counting is an absolute bum ache but a necessary evil for so many of us. Got to apply the old saying, you don't have to like it, you just have to do it but it still bites
I made myself do a kettlebell workout this morning & then Hoover house top to bottom. Doing ok on food so far, but as we know it's still early😖

OP posts:
Sugarandsalt · 04/11/2016 13:50

Hi Cora hope your little one is ok. It's exhausting when they are sick isn't it, I know exactly why I'm really fed up of counting calories- exhaustion! Just think a few days of eating less rigidly will help me get my groove back!

Well done Not. Kettlebells are no easy feat! Or hoovering for that matter😀
