pj Halloween Shock at speak and weigh! Did you actually have your weight announced to the whole supermarket, or was that bit at least discrete?

cora a 5lb loss in one month is awesome, well done! Star

hopefully sorry about the gain this time – I reckon you could definitely get under 10st by Xmas. I quite like a skirt slip to get a smooth line under a posh frock, without having to go as far as wearing uncomfortable sucky-in pants.

not well done on the class – you are made of the hard stuff, I’m impressed! Hope you have a good healthy week.

sugar well done for your 2lb – a loss is a loss! You still deserve a Star. Really hope you feel better. Flowers

bath same goes for you – a loss is a loss! Star I might have eaten a small treat out of a plastic pumpkin in the office earlier, but hopefully it won’t do so much damage….

Weighed in this morning at 9st10! That’s another pound off, taking my total loss for October to 3lb! That’s after being stuck around 10st for about 4 weeks at end Sept/beginning October too – I can’t quite believe it. Total loss since starting mfp in April is now 2st8, or a total of 3st off since 1 January! That’s the lowest I’ve ever been pretty much in my entire adult life and probably quite a bit of my teenage life too. And I now look very different, with more size 10s creeping into my wardrobe.

9st10 was the most recent target weight I set myself. Again I have to decide whether to stop here, or whether I want to try for a few more pounds off. If I keep going, then my next/possibly final milestone would be 9st7. Having been big all my life, I couldn’t ever imagine being 9st10 before, so 9st7 seems crazy to me. I need to have a proper think about what I want to achieve. Does anyone have any advice on how to pick the right target weight? Or advice on when to give up and try to maintain?

Happy Halloween everybody! Halloween Smile Halloween Smile

Not2bObvious · 31/10/2016 17:29

Oh wow sesame, that's amazing! I cannot imagine how that feels, a year isn't a long time - goes v fast (at my 40+ anyway) Personally I would try to maintain 9.10 for a few weeks & see how it feels, and also gauge what goes into maintenance. I'd imagine it might be hard to shift from diet to balanced - esp with Christmas coming up. 9.11 has always been my ultimate goal, no idea if I'll ever get there, I'd settle for 10.11 by Christmas but even that's lofty with my track reckon. Anyone once again well done😁

Sugarandsalt · 31/10/2016 17:57

Well done Sesame! Bath well done on steps! I've managed a grand total of 0 calories today so far. Will try some toast when I get in.

Not2bObvious · 31/10/2016 18:04

Poor sugar, are you still feeling poorly? Tea, toast and early night might be the best medicine. I'm on around 1400 cals - still no chocolate but did have some crisps and a v small McDonald's Halloween Blush Getting ready to bring the kids trick or treating, or as recalled in the good old days "help the Halloween party"

Omfg my phone has auto corrected some pretty basic words on my last few posts - I swear no 🍷 on board, just stupid phone/fingers!

Bathsheba3 · 31/10/2016 18:16

Amazing weight loss Sesame - well done you. As you can probably guess, I won't be able to offer-up any sort of target-weight / maintaining advice, but will read with avid interest & park in memory-bank for future use!

OMG - forgot to say earlier - AMAZING courage Pyjamas getting on the scales. And a loss for Week 1. How are you finding mfp?

I bet you will look absolutely radiant at your do on Friday Hopefully. Anyone that close to 10 surely has no need for Bridget-Jones pants anyway?!

Seriously, a day on just water sugar - or are you saving yourself for trick-or-treating? Hope you are OK.

Sugarandsalt · 31/10/2016 18:37

Thanks Not that's my plan! Bath I woke up feeling nauseated and it hasn't settled. Hoping it will have passed by tomorrow. Im definitely not pregnant so assume it's a mild bug!

DawheadAwgusEeentock · 31/10/2016 18:56

Tsk tsk tsk tsk

Not2bObvious · 31/10/2016 19:38

Oh ffs (sorry for the swearing) the Halloween chocolate lure got too much for me and I caved completely collapsed more like
Oh well at least I did my class this morning, it's only 1 more day of eating junk

OP posts:
coragreta · 31/10/2016 19:51

Me too for Halloween chocolate. Also checked my weekly average and it's already at 1400. I don't want to undo all my good work!

Bathsheba3 · 31/10/2016 20:12

1st November tomorrow. Chocolate to go away and NOT be touched. New month, new mindset, new bodies to achieve.

6lbs is amazing Dawhead - and am sure it is correct. Not surprising you are on track with your weight loss , and thoroughly deserved too, if you think having 4 chocolates since Friday is bad. None for me today but I did pack away more than I care to admit yesterday Halloween Blush

Not2bObvious · 31/10/2016 20:17

6lb is a brilliant loss dawg! Delighted for you😉

OP posts:
Hopefully · 01/11/2016 05:06

Halloween chocolate did for me too. Have a good hangover this morning. Every time I have too much sugary crap I am really struck by the fact that the payoff (feeling rubbish, dehydrated and bloated) just isn't worth it, even ignoring the effect on weight loss. But I still can't resist it when it's put in front of me!

Sesame congratulations on being at the stage of considering maintenance. Based on my previous experiences of loss I would suggest getting to a point where you have a pound or two in hand, as transitioning to maintenance always results in a bit of wobbling around by a couple of pounds while you work out how to eat for the new you!

Tiny bit down this morning (like, 0.3lb), but given the chocolate/sweets situation yesterday, I'm not surprised!

Not2bObvious · 01/11/2016 06:44

Not braving the scales today after my foodfest weekend. Aching a bit but I'd say tomorrow will be when it kicks in properly. I'm trying to decide if I attempt a low carb few days to shift the bloat. I've gotten quite fond of my carbs since abandoning the bsd, but I was reading threads about lchf yesterday & feel tempted to give it a go for a few days. Hmmm decisions decisions. Indigestion is hovering and I'm cross at how much I lost the run of myself with the chocolate last night. And crisps. Anyway as bath said, new month, new mind - happy November y'all

OP posts:
Bathsheba3 · 01/11/2016 07:03

I suffer badly from sugar hangover too hopefully. The bloat give me huge big puffy eyes too. I never realised how badly until I gave up all sugar during Sept. Despite no sugar last night, my biscuit binge of Sunday has caught up with me. Serves me right. But no more for november!

Can't keep up with you and your acronyms Not. So what is Ichf, and what was bsd? Oh I know, blood sugar diet. I keep talking myself out of doing anything "proper", like signing up for a fitness thing, or doing a proper diet, as I know how warped my mind is for extra pressure, and I get myself in knots over the thought of failing myself if I have one bad day. But I know it is a great motivator.

A bright new shiny month here is very misty and murky. Car in garage, so I will be covering quite a few more steps today.

Have a great day all - throwing positive vibes all round Star

Not2bObvious · 01/11/2016 07:16

Low carb high fat bath - I know what you mean about set diets, bit like organised religion😁 I'm grasping at straws really, I need to learn to eat less consistently. There are no magic potions (skinny mint tea anyone?) I have been quite enjoying my carbs and I have, albeit slowly, lost weight/improved my shape. Feck it - I'm done torturing myself. Eggs on brown bread for brekkie, my fav😉

OP posts:
pyjamas89 · 01/11/2016 08:23

Sesame - haha thankfully no it doesn't announce your weight to the whole world, it prints you a ticket! Well done on your loss.

Thanks Bath. I think I am getting the hang of it now!

Dawhead thanks for the welcome and well done on your loss! I am hoping to mostly be there by Christmas but also trying not to put too much pressure on in case I don't manage it... It's a good idea about asking the people I am eating with to help. I think some of them i would be able to and some I would be a bit shy!

I had a bit of a wobble yesterday, I ran (a very slow) 10k and when I got back used that as a justification to eat more Jaffa cakes than I would care to admit. But you're right not, new month, new mind....

Not2bObvious · 01/11/2016 09:18

Jaffa cakes are mainly air pj😉 Well done on the 10k, I need to get back to some running - very lax with it these days

OP posts:
SesameSparkle · 01/11/2016 13:10

sugar hope you are feeling better today? Flowers

dawhead well done on the 6lb loss, that’s really awesome – definitely time to celebrate by digging out those size 12s – go you! Don’t kick yourself for the chocs, you are still doing very well indeed!

not, cora hopefully naughty! Hands out of the choccy tin! Shock But it’s definitely clean slate November and time to put that behind you – today is a new day! Smile

not nothing wrong with trying a few days low carbing if you think it could give you a quick boost.

bath yes to the new month and leaving the car at home – you can do it!

pj well done on the 10k, I’m sure the jaffa cakes won’t have made such a big dent given the effort you are putting in overall.

Thank you so much for your responses and advice, all the encouragement on here is so motivating. Flowers There isn’t a lot of advice out there on maintaining in general. I’m going to keep doing what I’m doing for now, logging everything and continuing to aim for 1660 a day, and posting on here. At some point I’m going to officially adjust my daily mfp target to maintenance calories, and then at some point after that I might try to log a little less fastidiously. I’m not ready for that yet, so will continue to stick around here, and see if I can drop a couple more lb to create that safety margin to play with.

DawheadAwgusEeentock · 01/11/2016 15:10

Happy November everyone!!!

Does anyone else take a while to get used to the hour change? I love it cos it makes walking the dog easier in the mornings, but it always takes me a few days to stop feeling tired - whether the clocks go forward/back. Almost like mini jet lag.

Not I think your methods are spot on in terms of exercise and it's not grasping at straws at all - quite the opposite. Really I don't think any of us can sustain this if we don't eventually do some exercise as well. I'm still in Bath's corner in terms of not being able to set my mind to a routine yet Wink but you are really inspiring us with your classes and motivation.

Cora you've been doing brilliantly so a little bit of Halloween choccie is no harm at all.

Bath sharing your positive vibes Star we will all have brilliant Novembers.

Hopefully I definitely notice the bad effect of any sugar these days - I've noticed even those few choccies I had have made me very sluggish and down in the dumps. But even a tiny bit down on the scales all counts - well done Star!

Pyjamas wow a 10k run is very impressive - well done! And like Not said, Jaffa cakes are one of the 'best' biccies so they almost don't count Wink.

Sesame that sounds like a brilliant plan and it's great for us as well if you keep posting and inspiring us Flowers.

So I've learned that enchiladas are evil and yesterday came to a whopping 1680 Angry. On course for 1100 today so my weekly avg will be 1395 - might as well call it 1400 Sad. I was already up 100g on the scales since yesterday so will be v interesting to see what my official weekly weigh-in comes in at tomorrow.

Also hadn't really noticed it before, buy MFP is telling me my calories over weekly goal is 1360! That means I've eaten a whole day's extra food!! My willpower has really been missing this week so I have to get back on the wagon properly over the next few days - a few light dinners in the plan for the rest of this week methinks.

coragreta · 01/11/2016 16:44

Pyjamas. 10K is great. I'm working towards that at the moment. Not managed to run the whole way yet.

Daw. I also ate a whole day's extra food over the weekend! It's easy to do but definitely shocking. Sounds like you're on track today.

Everyone seems to have November resolve. We will see so many losses this month. I wonder how much weight we have all lost so far.

Bathsheba3 · 01/11/2016 17:16

Good news: 15,500 + steps today, food logged & comes in at 1196, no sugar & no wine. Making veg & chick pea curry for dinner, whole grain rice. Yum
Bad news: no work done on account of time taken to walk everywhere poor excuse, received some v sad news.
I think I will treat myself to nice wallow in the bath this evening & early night.

Not2bObvious · 02/11/2016 07:11

Sorry you had bad news bath, won't let but hope you're ok. You did so well with food & steps, no need to be concerned about not doing other exercise.
Oh dear, was an absolute disaster yesterday despite my early musings of being ready to go for it. Ate & ate & ate. Feeling the rewards now, bloated and yuck. Badly need a light day so that's what I'll attempt. I also need to lock all the chocolate & rubbish away as I've been mainlining mini chocolate bars. Off my water & I think I've been mistaking thirst for hunger or just plain greedy Anyway, it is what it is - just need to turn it around pronto. Bad dose of self sabotage me thinks. 2 days til Friday weigh in and if I maintain 11.5 from last Friday it'll be a miracle! Drawing a line ___

Bathsheba3 · 02/11/2016 07:17

Yo yo'd myself back into the 11's. WI at 11 13. Exactly the same as I was on 2nd October !!

Get back on that wagon Not. Damage done. You've had the taste. Now quit. Enough. Not worth it. How about that jumpsuit?

Not2bObvious · 02/11/2016 08:07

You've a great memory bath 😁, yes do not want camel toe (shudder) in the jumpsuit. Glass of water downed, porridge in, Halloween junk all bagged up & put out of sight & mind. Great that you're still in the 11's 👏
