Who's up for the 7lbs in September challenge?

ponygirlcurtis · 01/09/2016 08:32

Following on from June, July and August's threads, we're aiming to lose 7lbs.
(Posting as Rshard is still on holiday - hope you had a great time!)

All regimes welcome. Support and encouragement guaranteed!

My starting weight for September is 11st 5.25lbs. (I actually ended yesterday at 6.5lbs but the scales have jumped down again so I am having it!). That means I lost 5lbs in August. I found having this thread helped my focus and determination, if it helps anyone else, fantastic! Smile

Good luck everyone!

Yes we do eat mince quite a lot, I do have meat in the freezer that's currently living under a pile of 'stuff' I think if I pick up a vegbag from the farm we'll be ok. :)

I'm currently working through hundreds of boxes of fruit/herbal tea. It's more interesting that plain water and it can't be that bad for me right?

MsHeffalump · 07/09/2016 11:32

Tits it's flavoured water, not bad for you at all!

Daily fluctuations: at 8am I had a wee, hopped on the scales, then went back to bed. 11am I had a wee and then weighed again. I'm pretty sure the second wee didn't weigh a pound but that's how much lighter I was at 11am.

Skala123 · 07/09/2016 12:24

MsHeffa that's cracked me up - I'm also one for weighing in after going to the toilet! I also love to weigh in after a run and sometimes it's up to 4lbs lost! Never lasts obviously but I like the look of the scales at that precise moment!!

FailingAtLifeRightNow · 07/09/2016 13:30

I'm in!!

My current weight is 10st 7.2lbs.

Goal weight is £9st 5lbs.... I havent been this weight for many many years!!

So just over a stone to go.

Hoping I can get there doing low carb. Fingers crossed!

CarrieLouise25 · 07/09/2016 13:31

Great to see all the losses! Smile

I too am a weigher after the toilet!

Was pleased to see 9st 9 this morning, another 1lb down.

Have also realised I won't die from not feeding every hunger pang, and that I don't actually 'need' but want, most of the time.

DH disagrees. Says he will die if he doesn't eat when tummy rumbles.

PikachuSayBoo · 07/09/2016 14:35

I've only lost 1lb, one measly pound! Pissed off!

QuimReaper · 07/09/2016 14:43

Pikachu that's about 15% of our total goal for the month, don't despair!

I'm expecting to see a similar loss when I weigh in later, and that's if I'm lucky Blush

PikachuSayBoo · 07/09/2016 14:49

I know but I wanted to lose 25% of the goal seeing as we're practically 25% of the way through the month. And ive started a major new fitness regime and have been going to the gym 5 days a week and working out hard!

Dyrne · 07/09/2016 15:31

Pikachu don't despair. My guess would be as you're doing a lot more exercise all of a sudden, your body is temporarily retaining more water in order to repair muscle after your workouts. Fingers crossed if you push through you'll see a bigger loss in the next couple of weeks.

Definitely agree with the post-loo weighing - every little helps, right? Grin

I've noticed my diet coke consumption has gone up since resuming dieting - one to work on once i'm in the swing of things. I know the aspartamine is terrible for me but I think it's the only thing keeping me full theough the working day!

CarrieLouise25 · 07/09/2016 15:42

Yes, Pikachu, don't despair. I know it's frustrating when you have been working so hard, but it is still a weight loss, and it will start coming off more soon with all your work. Agree could be water retention. Think you will see the bigger loss soon.

QuimReaper · 07/09/2016 16:23

Dyrne I use tonic water and sparkling water in the same way - worth a go?

PikachuSayBoo · 07/09/2016 16:37

Thanks guys.m technically even though ive lost overall I have put a pound on.

I weighed at the weekend and had lost 2lbs and was well excited. Then today im heavier than I was on Sunday. And I'm now post period whereas the start of the month I was just before my period so im worried ive actually stayed the same iykwim?

Am going to up the water intake.

I know ive put more muscle on as the scales at the gym scan you internally and tell you your fat and muscle percentage and my muscle is going upwards and my fat is going down!

CarrieLouise25 · 07/09/2016 16:53

That's the other thing, muscle weighs more. Fat going down is great!

Would love scales like that!

Also, as well as weight, I measure other bits (waist/thighs etc) and although my weight one week was no change, my waist was an inch down. The more you measure, the more chance you have of seeing changes instead of just weight. All spurs you on IMO!

MsHeffalump · 07/09/2016 17:29

That's a point - somewhere I have a length of wool that was equal to my waist circumference at the start of this year. Must try to find it before the end of the year to see if there's a difference.

One time, years ago, I managed to weigh two pounds more after going to the loo. Possibly the scales were wonky (a bit of cat litter under one corner will do that) but I prefer to think of it as shitting antimatter.

MegBusset · 07/09/2016 18:16

I'm going out tonight with DH to celebrate our anniversary... am driving so no risk of drinking too much, I've saved enough calories for starter and main course but it remains to be seen if i can resist pudding! Down to 9st 4.5lb this morning so don't want to wake up tomorrow back where I started...

CarrieLouise25 · 07/09/2016 19:55

Happy Anniversary Meg - enjoy your meal!

QuimReaper · 07/09/2016 20:16

I am in AWE of anybody who can show restraint in a restaurant, Happy Anniversary Meg!

Weighed today and down to 57.5, so 1lb off. I'm pleased with that: I was out for dinner last night so it's not like I've been being really monkish. Had a great fast day today and walked almost 9k (about 5-6 of it with a huge heavy shopping bag...) so feeling positive.

Out again tomorrow but will be good during the day; then out again on Fri for my own anniversary; then dinner with my parents on Sat... Oh dear! Grin

ponygirlcurtis · 07/09/2016 21:36

Happy anniversary Meg, enjoy your meal.

That's great, Quim, especially managing 9k on a fast day! I have done OK on the activity front, but I also have a day out on Saturday where food booze will be much in abundance. Will maybe need to have a couple of really careful days to prepare.

Happy anniversary, Meg! Great to hear how everyone else is doing - keeps me motivated.

Dyrne · 07/09/2016 23:21

Quim I might give that a go - not really had a lot of tonic or sparkling water over the years, but i'm sure it's just a case of getting used to it?

Our scales are supposes to do a body fat percentage thing; they're set up for DP's height etc though at the moment so it doesnt work for me. I might ask him how much he actually uses the scales, and if he'd mind if I fiddled with the settings.

I like the idea of measuring more, I've not really done it with any sort of regularity. I'll dig the tape out tomorrow.

I hope you enjoy your meal Meg, happy anniversary!

I've done well today sticking well under my calorie budget, plus burning nearly 800kcals through a combination of walking and the exercise bike. Going to get pissed on Friday so need to bank some calories for the alcohol and the inevitable hangover filth cravings

notsoold · 07/09/2016 23:24

hello he is 17 weeks and the other one is almost 3yo
And I swear the teenager is the noisiest one !
user snap! I am considering one as well. Ot will tell me I am unfot as hell but I deserve to hear it methinks Grin

QuimReaper · 07/09/2016 23:41

Dyrne tonic is especially effective in my opinion, on ice with a lime is just filling somehow. I think because it's bitter in taste so it doesn't give you that empty sort of feeling that sweet soft drinks can. Sparkling water doesn't hit the spot in quite the same way for me but it helps a bit. I usually use tonic to suppress my appetite in the evenings.

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 08/09/2016 07:38

"Official" weigh in this morning and -3.5lbs. First week does tend to lull me into a false sense of security though!

leesmum · 08/09/2016 07:41

Well done Ginger that's a great start Smile

PlumFairy2014 · 08/09/2016 08:05

Amazing losses!

A measly 1lb here, but I didn't really kick myself into action until Monday, so not so bad. Be better next week!

My 500 cal day today and we're off to a birthday party. I'm afraid I'm going to be the no cake Mum today...
