Who's up for the 7lbs in September challenge?

ponygirlcurtis · 01/09/2016 08:32

Following on from June, July and August's threads, we're aiming to lose 7lbs.
(Posting as Rshard is still on holiday - hope you had a great time!)

All regimes welcome. Support and encouragement guaranteed!

My starting weight for September is 11st 5.25lbs. (I actually ended yesterday at 6.5lbs but the scales have jumped down again so I am having it!). That means I lost 5lbs in August. I found having this thread helped my focus and determination, if it helps anyone else, fantastic! Smile

Good luck everyone!

hunting that's exactly how I do fast days! I tend to do white fish and veg for dinner, what about you?

Welcome Peterson Smile

househuntinginmanchester · 06/09/2016 15:41

quim I eat a kind of bean salad, sometimes if I'm really hungry I'll throw in a few pasta shells. FD Today and just made a toast because I'm starving and struggling. Went to weigh myself and I'm two pounds heavier than I thought Shock so 10.2 ... Looks like I'll be having to lose 9 pounds this month. Hmm

NapQueen · 06/09/2016 16:23

Workmate has just brought these in.

There's only three of us on shift.

Who's up for the 7lbs in September challenge?
CarrieLouise25 · 06/09/2016 16:28

Oh Nap, that's far too tempting!

DoinItFine · 06/09/2016 16:35

I'm feeling strong for resisting them, NapQueen Grin

QuimReaper - I'd be sort of tempted to do that for the "big reveal" at the end

Me too.

But it would be the worst ever if the big reveal was not quite so big. Hmm

ponygirlcurtis · 06/09/2016 17:14

Lovely to hear your holiday was a good one, Rshard - running 7 days out of 9 is very impressive, well done! I predict that 4lbs will disappear pretty quickly.

I am another daily weigher, but it's not for everyone. Sometimes my weight can leap up 3-4lbs overnight! Shock It does go back down within a few days but you need a sensible head to keep focused on those occasions. I am used to the fluctuations now and I also know that if I am logging on MFP accurately and keeping within my calorie targets most of the time then the loss will show. I found weekly weighing a frustrating experience as if it was an up fluctuation on the designated weigh-in day it could make it seem like a week of effort was for nothing. Ironically, daily weighing helps me have a longer perspective on my weight.

That's a big pile of doughnuts, Nap!! Well done on resisting.

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 06/09/2016 17:40

ThatsMyStapler we're starting in similar places - I'm 5ft6.5 and 13st3.75! Was 12 st (my lowest adult weight!) at Christmas last year, just lost the plot going back to work in January. Maintained at 12st7 til may then lost it again Grin

So far so good though. I'm a daily weigher but only log my weight on MFP once a week, like an "official" weigh in!

Dyrne · 06/09/2016 18:29

Crikey, the thread's moving quickly! L

Well done on all the losses, better luck tomorrow to those off track today, and Nap if you just send those doughnuts my way... Wink

Weighed in yesterday, had a satisfying loss of 1.7kg, now down to 70.1kg. Shh, I know there's always a bigger loss the first week, its mostly water etc etc Grin

Rshard · 06/09/2016 18:43

Thanks pony

OMG those d'nuts!

MsHeffalump · 06/09/2016 19:08

I like the daily weighing too, at least when I'm in a positive mental place. It is quite reassuring to see just how much one can fluctuate for no apparent reason.

Was planning to hit the exercise bike after college, but walking 5km home with a ridiculously heavy bag of books had me sweating enough for one day. Fitbit buzzed 10,000th step as I flopped on the sofa. Beautifully timed!

seekingthesunlight · 06/09/2016 19:23

I'm half tempted to try the not weighing until the end of month! Don't want to be disappointed though Smile I can never do daily weighing, I get too frustrated when the scales don't move quickly enough.

Dyrne · 06/09/2016 20:55

Ooh the idea of not weighing myself for a month sounds fun, but like everyone else I need the motivation of more regular weigh ins!

Heffalump A 5km walk is pretty damn good, especially carrying hefty text books!

ThatsMyStapler · 06/09/2016 20:56

just had a couple of boiled egg.... still warm, got 4 more done, 2 for tomorrow, and 2 for day after

springlenner · 06/09/2016 22:20

Can I join? Just spotted the thread... Back from hols and 10lbs on over the last few months 🙈
I've lost before on SW but tbh am sick of the cliquey group thing.
Doing my own made up combination of SW and eating clean.
I'm also a daily weigher - I find it's the only way to keep me on track.
But would like to post my weekly weigh ins here if that's ok?
10st 0.5lbs last Friday - would love 7lbs in September but realistically would be thrilled to weigh in at 9st 2lbs by Christmas. Just need to get in the zone and stay there!

Skala123 · 07/09/2016 06:32

Well done on the losses everyone. We are a week in and all going in the right direction. Not weighed in today (I'm a daily) but yesterday was 9.5 so another pound down. Ate a bit more yesterday - 1800 cals but it says I burned 900 cals (9 mile run then long walk with the kids) so doesn't feel too bad. I commend those of you on the 5:2, I've never tried it but don't reckon I'd manage more than a day!!

leesmum · 07/09/2016 06:55

I'm doing my weigh ins on a Friday morning because I go running on a Thursday night and always see a good loss!! ...and any weekend indulges are gone by the following week.

Well done everyone, not easy is it?

user1471524896 · 07/09/2016 08:33

No it's not easy leesmum !! Well done on all the losses everyone. No access to scales at the no which is frustrating- anyone have a set that they would recommend?
Also I've decided I'm going to get a Fitbit (or similar ) - does anyone have any recommendations?
nap did you resist the doughnuts ? Our work has a policy that you bring in cake on your birthday, plus something post holiday- there is always stuff in the staff room and it's hard to resist. Might get back into chewing gum if I can to try and help!!

ponygirlcurtis · 07/09/2016 08:43

I am weighing in tomorrow. Great to see some losses coming in already, well done! Today is my day off and usually my least active day but I will try to persuade DS to go out for a walk or a bike ride (ie with me trotting behind him!).

Thatsmystapler good idea, I am going to boil some eggs to have in the freezer. I find cottage cheese a good snack too.

DoinItFine · 07/09/2016 09:00

I'm weighing tomorrow too.

Well done on weight lost so far. :)

I was starving last night. My dinner (swedish meatballs and rice, so shouod have been filling) just didn't hit the spot at all.

I hate the bit where you have to readjust to not reacting to every twinge of hunger with food.

Once I get used to it, it's fine.

Rshard · 07/09/2016 09:03

I have a Fitbit alta user and I love it! It's very simple to use and it keeps me active

Dyrne · 07/09/2016 09:30

Leesmum my tactic is to weigh in on a Monday, that way it helps me avoid overindulging at the weekend by saying to myself "I dont want to ruin things for my weigh in"!

Had a cheeky weigh today, was curious after everyone has been going on about daily weigh ins! Its showing a 0.5kg loss already so i'll be pleased even if it stays around that for the rest of the week.

Good work on the 9 mile run, Skala! I couldn't run for a bus at the moment - I need to get myself started on C25K but need to work up the courage to get my flabby arse out on the road.

User i've got an apple watch and I absolutely love it as it gives me calorie burning goals and 'activity' goals instead of just steps - it's really helped get me out and about and it's interesting to see how as I've gotten fitter I need to walk further/faster to burn the same amount of calories. Appreciate it's more expensive than the fitbits though. Everyone I know with one raves about it though - my friend's got one she clips on her bra which she says is great.

DoinIt I know what you mean about ignoring hunger pangs - it's hard to readjust to the idea that it's OK To be hungry, the world won't end, it's perfectly fine to wait until the next meal and we don't need to reach for the biscuit tin immediately!

Titsalinabumsquash · 07/09/2016 09:35

I weigh every 2-3 days when I'm feeling brave!

I made a lovely low carb cottage pie with a cauli and broccoli free topping and the kids all wolfed it down in minutes, it was nice not to have the usual daily moaning about eating dinner.

My current struggle is the lack of food in the house and lack of money in the bank! It's fine for the kids, we have loads of pasta/rice/cereal/lentils etc. Harder for the low carbing adults. I feel or will be a very egg heavy week or 2.

twobambinos · 07/09/2016 10:27

Can I join you all? Weigh 9St 11 which outs me at bmi 25 so need to reign it in. I feel miserable as I am short and every pound shows. I have a wedding to attend in 3 weeks and want to feel better about myself. Started my healthy eating on Monday so car so good I think.

Keep up the good work everyone.

ponygirlcurtis · 07/09/2016 10:30

I have a Fitbit Charge HR and love it. Although just googled the Alta, like the activity reminder features there too.

DoinIt totally agree about reacting to every hunger pang. It's been a big revelation to discover I won't actually keel over if I am a little hungry. I used to get quite panicked!

Titsal eggs are fab but what about some cheap mince - higher in fat which is good anyway. I also hang round the reduced section at Asda for meat and freeze it.
