Who's up for the 7lbs in September challenge?

ponygirlcurtis · 01/09/2016 08:32

Following on from June, July and August's threads, we're aiming to lose 7lbs.
(Posting as Rshard is still on holiday - hope you had a great time!)

All regimes welcome. Support and encouragement guaranteed!

My starting weight for September is 11st 5.25lbs. (I actually ended yesterday at 6.5lbs but the scales have jumped down again so I am having it!). That means I lost 5lbs in August. I found having this thread helped my focus and determination, if it helps anyone else, fantastic! Smile

Good luck everyone!

Well done to all the losers.
Wow ginger 3.5 pounds that's amazing. I don't think I'd even lose that in a month. Although I am determined this Time.

Oh i hate no cake at birthdays Sad

Must try to drink more water too

Helloheyhi · 08/09/2016 09:33

Sooo many updates!

Old aww 17 weeks, so cute. Sounds like a busy household at yours too!
Meg happy anniversary for yesterday, hope you and your husband enjoyed the meal!
Quim happy anniversary for tomorrow and hope you have a fantastic time!
Ginger way to go, great loss, what a boost huh Grin
pony enjoy your day out on saturday. A drink or two or three is thoroughly recommended for the occasion Grin
Rshard have you restarted WW?

Well done yo all the losers, we must have collectively lost a stone in the first week??? All very encouraging stuff!

DoinItFine · 08/09/2016 10:04

1lb!

I can't believe it.

I can see looking at myself that it's been a good week.

:(

I even did another weigh after a poo, inspired by the thread yesterday Grin

No dice. But I had eaten a bowl of cereal and got dressed in the meantime.

Was expecting about 4lbs, including water.

Damn it.

PlumFairy2014 · 08/09/2016 10:22

Oh Doin don't lose hope!

I'm sure you'll reap the rewards next week. It could be hormones or water or just one of those flukes. Hugs!

DoinItFine · 08/09/2016 10:26

Aw thanks, PlumFairy :)

I sort of rely on the (admittedly largely false) boost you get on the first week losing all the water.

Ah well. Onwards and downwards Grin

Hope the fast day party isn't too painful.

I couldn't manage IF at all, but I kove the idea of it.

Rshard · 08/09/2016 11:37

Slow and steady with the race doin frustrating tho when you've been super good.

Yes hello back on WW although didn't go to my meeting this morning as had to be in the office. How're you doing?

MsHeffalump · 08/09/2016 11:51

Happy thoughts, Doin - it could have been a 1lb gain, you could have stayed exactly the same, but no! You're down a pound! I'd call it a win. Please don't kill me but I think I nicked your 4lb loss.

DoinItFine · 08/09/2016 12:07

Oi, MsHeffalump, get back here with my 4lb loss Angry Grin

Yay!

I will take pleasure from our aggregate loss! :)

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 08/09/2016 13:01

To be fair my loss is after a summer of total overindulgence so is probably just residual cake.

Helloheyhi · 08/09/2016 13:07

DIT that equates to 52 pounds a year! I appreciate how frustrating it is though. You will soon have a bigger loss fingers crossed.

Rshard thanks for asking. Doing okay here although not had much time to exercise as my son is waking up very early to play now!!! In the evening, am too knackered to do any! Hope your daughter settled back okay to school.

QuimReaper · 08/09/2016 13:23

Doin I know what you mean about missing the boost, but being able to see it in real life is the real aim isn't it?

I often find the scales don't match the mirror, and it baffles me how the scales win - if I look/feel thin but the scale doesn't show a loss I feel like I'm kidding myself, whereas if I feel like a heffalump but see a loss anyway I feel like "oh well, I'm getting there at least" Confused Hmm

DoinItFine · 08/09/2016 13:31

Exactly, Quim - how do the scales win?

I remember Ed Byrne once saying "it's not you'd go 'oh look, I'm bit fat' and then weigh yourself and think 'oh no, I'm not'" Grin

But he was wrong!

Maybe I should have stuck with my "big reveal" idea.

Thanks Hello. It's so hard to exercise in the evening after a long day with littlies.

CarrieLouise25 · 08/09/2016 13:47

God yes, hard to fit in exercise with 3 kids. By the evening I'm so tired!

Doin - I always weigh as soon as been to loo and not eaten anything/drank anything (also removing clothes helps...god forbid if anyone walks in on my naked weighing in).

I found one morning after cornflakes and water I weighed 2lb more! So always weigh before. Same each day or it's disheartening otherwise.

Started off end of august at 9st 11.6 and now 9st 9.2, happy with 2.4lbs so far despite not exercising that much last 3 days (horrible period).

I'm with Quim - the scales affect how I feel, even if I look different!

user1471524896 · 08/09/2016 13:59

Ooh different types of fitbits; and I hadn't even considered An Apple Watch. Will get looking. Anyone else who's got one am interested to hear how you get on with yours. I've always thought the fitbits are a bit ugly chunky??
well done to all the losers that made me Grin . But well done, even if it's 1lb it's the right direction.
Managing lots of exercise whilst away but probably picking on the kids food a bit too much. Ah well will weigh when back and see what the damage is!!

Rshard · 08/09/2016 14:33

user my Fitbit alta is quite slim and not very ugly! I didn't want a watch style as I have a very nice watch which would have ended up a bit redundant.

Oh bless him hello I remember those days! Thanks for asking about DD going back to school, first day at secondary today and I've felt slightly sick all day but will see her soon!

Helloheyhi · 08/09/2016 14:44

I have the total opposite thing with the scale. It somehow doesn't match with what I think I look like in my head. I still think of myself as being small whilst the reality is obviously I am not Grin

True DIT it is hard but am taking heart that so many mums on this thread are doing it so it spurs me on!

User hope you are having a fab time!

Rshard wow what a big day for her huh! I can imagine you must be fretting but am sure your daughter can't wait to see you to tell you all about her new friends, teachers, school and all the very exciting things! Hope you are celebrating her first day at secondary school. bet you don't miss the early days Grin

QuimReaper · 08/09/2016 15:04

GUYS!

Most of my clothes are being held hostage due to renovations so I've just dug out an outfit I used to love a couple of years ago and have felt too fat for for ages.

I wouldn't say I'm rocking it, am still a teensy bit self-conscious but THRILLED the zips aren't straining! I'm wearing it anyway, fuck it Grin

Just wanted to share...!

QuimReaper · 08/09/2016 15:06

I'm telling myself that where it's sitting on my spare tyre and flaring out a bit at the hips is actually giving me a desirable hourglass shape, which is a look that women corseted themselves up for years to achieve.

It's sooooort of working...

DoinItFine · 08/09/2016 15:10

Yay! Quim

We are only a week in!

By the end of September you will be sitting there in your school uniform Grin

teta · 08/09/2016 15:29

Can i join in?
I know I'm very late to start!
I'm the Same weight now as when I was pregnant with my twins and developed glucose intolerance.I have now developed Insulin Resistance I believe due to a massively fat tummy and sleep apnoea according to my eldest. Therefore I urgently need to lose weight ( and am 52).So for the last few days I am following a low-cost regime and would love some support.I'm 89.2 KGS today.

teta · 08/09/2016 15:31

Low-carb!
Bloody predictive text.

DoinItFine · 08/09/2016 15:42

Welcome teta - some of us are only a pound down, so you don't have much catching up to do :) Grin

Insulin resistance sounds scary. Hope you are OK.

MegBusset · 08/09/2016 15:49

Thanks for the anniversary wishes! We had a lovely night and I didn't even fancy pudding so stuck to my plan. Did eat dough balls and pizza but still 9st 4.5lb this morning so feel OK about that!

I'm only a pound down too, I know from experience that I tend to lose in fits and starts (at least according to the scales).

rosyvalentine · 08/09/2016 16:22

Well done to everyone on the losses! I'm down 2lb after the first week. Reasonably happy with this, given that I had a disastrous weekend. Friday night involved a meal out, booze, and a takeaway on the way home! And I had a curry and a glass of wine on Saturday night too. Been calorie counting on MFP this week and have returned to my HIIT circuit classes (2 done this week so far) which I think have saved me Grin. Going to be very good this weekend and I'm thinking of getting myself an Apple Watch. Does anyone have one and find it helpful?

CarrieLouise25 · 08/09/2016 16:28

Welcome Teta.

I too am the same weight now, as I was 9 months pregnant with my eldest!

Have you downloaded My Fitness Pal? It really has helped me keep an eye on what I eat, and has shocked me with how many calories I used to eat/where I was going wrong.

Good luck!

Quim - I have an entire wardrobe waiting for me!! That will be my ultimate reward, getting into my lovely old clothes rather than the same pair of stretchy leggings and maternity/nursing tops.
