Who's up for the 7lbs in September challenge?

ponygirlcurtis · 01/09/2016 08:32

Following on from June, July and August's threads, we're aiming to lose 7lbs.
(Posting as Rshard is still on holiday - hope you had a great time!)

All regimes welcome. Support and encouragement guaranteed!

My starting weight for September is 11st 5.25lbs. (I actually ended yesterday at 6.5lbs but the scales have jumped down again so I am having it!). That means I lost 5lbs in August. I found having this thread helped my focus and determination, if it helps anyone else, fantastic! Smile

Good luck everyone!

A not bad day here. Succumbed to a small piece of birthday cake in the staff room but I more than earned it back in my Fitbit extra calories from running about at work.

Fine day here calorie wise, but not great nutrition wise.

M&S fuller longer dinner because I had an event to attend.

I did resist sweets from kids and food at my favourite restaurant, so will power pretty good.

NapQueen · 05/09/2016 23:23

Not bad Quim - stew was nice. Made the house smell good when it was cooking. And so nice to get past the witching hour with the kids and dinner was already done.

MegBusset · 06/09/2016 07:53

Got some movement on the scales today after a few days stuck at my starting weight! Only half a pound, but I'll take it. Why is it that it takes a week of being good to lose half a pound, but one bad day can put double that back on?!

MsHeffalump · 06/09/2016 07:59

Meg insofar as I can tell, one bad day makes the body decide to cling on to every drop of water it can. Also, food itself does weigh a bit. Suddenly eating more means there's more working its way through your innards.

276lbs here today, and no chance of falling off the wagon as I'll be in college all day. With the first packed lunch of the millennium.

notsoold · 06/09/2016 08:03

I started on the 1st after a really heavy carb day that sent my weight to 74s kg but my usual was 73.5kg. Weighing myself today gave me a boost as the loss was 2.1kg. Really happy even if it is water or whateverGrin ( shouldn't be as I have been low carbing for a while now).
Need to exercise but we are not sleeping in this household with toddler and baby keeping us awake....

Helloheyhi · 06/09/2016 08:18

Well done not how old is your baby? Mine will be 7 months on Sunday and wakes up several times during the night so I sympathise with the broken/lack of sleep, I am permanently exhausted as well!!

Rshard · 06/09/2016 09:05

Hello, I'm back from 9 days all inclusive, going for a cheeky weigh in at boots in a while to see what the damage is!

Fabulous to see so many people on this months thread

DoinItFine · 06/09/2016 09:10

Full respect to people with broken sleep trying to do this challenge.

Do be kind to yourselves.

When you are sleep deprived, you need to get emergency energy somewhere.

It is much easier to lose weight when you are sleeping well.

Helloheyhi · 06/09/2016 09:33

Very warm welcome Rshard good to see you back! Was only thinking of you this morning. How was the holiday?

I agree Doin it's bloody hard going Grin

NapQueen · 06/09/2016 09:39

How often are you lot weighing? I'm 2lb down in 2 days but that could just be normal daily fluctuations. Ought I just do it once a week? Daily? Who knows.

ThatsMyStapler · 06/09/2016 09:47

waves
joining late - 5'7 (and a half) 13st4
dont look enormous, but want to lose about 2.5/3 stone

so have MFP and updating day 2 of it!

Helloheyhi · 06/09/2016 09:50

Nap when am home I do it daily. I have an app called happy scale and log it there to see the fluctuations etc. and not to be discouraged as I might just weigh on a bad day and it might not be a true reflection of my weight iykwim. I work full time ( although off on a friday as I am taking my annual leave spread over 20 weeks ) so not possible to do it daily during the week some days as I am in a rush so I take my sunday weight as my last weigh in for the week. If it's a higher number then I take the lowest of the week Grin. I always weigh in fridays, saturdays and sundays though.
2 pounds down is awesome though.

ThatsMyStapler · 06/09/2016 09:51

weekly is probably best

DoinItFine · 06/09/2016 10:06

I weigh weekly.

My scales is not really accurate enough for daily weighing to be worthwhile.

BitOutOfPractice · 06/09/2016 10:27

I think the received wisdom is that you should weigh once a week. But when I am in the zone I do it daily. It helps spur me on. If I see a loss I'm encouraged to continue. If I see a gain I am spurred on to do better.

But - big but - this only works when I'm already really focused and doing well. Any other time I'm more inclined to give it a big "fuck this for a game of soldiers" if I see a gain

JamieVardysParty · 06/09/2016 10:55

I normally weigh on Wednesday as it's far enough away from the weekend when I'm most likely to go slightly off piste. I figure if I have a 2k cal day on Saturday, it's balanced out by Wednesday.

Another one using Happy Scale, really like it.

DoinItFine · 06/09/2016 11:07

Hmmm I weigh on Thursday. Maybe that's why Grin

Rshard · 06/09/2016 11:16

nap I weigh in weekly. If I had scales at home I'd be on them constantly!

Sneaky peak result - 4lbs gain so reasonably happy with that after my holiday. Ran 7 days of 9 so that will have helped. Holiday was lovely thanks hello.

So starting weight for September is 11,11 for me so 7lbs would be 11,4.

Helloheyhi · 06/09/2016 11:25

That's not too bad Rshard considering most of it will be water weight and foods etc. and will be gone in a week or so. Sounds like a fun time you had!

DoinItFine · 06/09/2016 11:29

4lbs gain from holiday is great.

It will be gone in a week.

Does anyone do it blind?

Just stick to your regime and not weigh at all until the end?

That would be interesting.

CarrieLouise25 · 06/09/2016 11:55

I would advise anyone to weigh weekly, but I'm a hypocrite as I weigh daily!

9st 10.2 today was 9st 10.6 couple of days ago, not amazing, but any sign of loss spurs me on.

My little DS is 6 months old now, and have just got periods back, arghhh!! Don't feel like exercising at all. So bloated.

QuimReaper · 06/09/2016 11:59

Doin I'd be sort of tempted to do that for the "big reveal" at the end but like BitOut says, if I'm "in the zone" I need / benefit from the scales. It helps me keep my focus.

househuntinginmanchester · 06/09/2016 12:07

Wow hello soul friends Grin been trying to lose 7 lbs for months now and it's not happening ! I've started the 5:2 diet since last week now so am hoping that I lose at least 7lb by end of sept!

I have a huge trip planned for next March where there will be a tonne of very Big (Asian) weddings and I have to be trim before then! I know it's far but outfits fitting etc are all happening very soon !

Current weight: 10 stones
End of sept Goal weight : 9.7

Just had a late breakfast of two boiled eggs. It's a fast day so no lunch and then a light dinner. Halo

PetersonPeterson · 06/09/2016 13:05

Please can I join? Weigh about 9st 11, aiming for 9st 4. Lost a stone before the summer holidays then put on a couple of pounds towards the end of the holidays. Hope it's ok to join a few days late! I'm using MFP, trying to eat 1,500 kcal a day and exercising.
