Who's up for the 7lbs in September challenge?

ponygirlcurtis · 01/09/2016 08:32

Following on from June, July and August's threads, we're aiming to lose 7lbs.
(Posting as Rshard is still on holiday - hope you had a great time!)

All regimes welcome. Support and encouragement guaranteed!

My starting weight for September is 11st 5.25lbs. (I actually ended yesterday at 6.5lbs but the scales have jumped down again so I am having it!). That means I lost 5lbs in August. I found having this thread helped my focus and determination, if it helps anyone else, fantastic! Smile

Good luck everyone!

I never met a crisp I didn't like Grin

I work from home so if they're in the house I eat them. I simply can't be trusted so I've stopped buying them

Helloheyhi · 19/09/2016 17:19

I feel the same like you as I can't be trusted around them! We both need to go cold turkey I reckon! just kidding, not-giving-up

Helloheyhi · 19/09/2016 17:30

I have also changed my mind, am gonna spend my 11,000 calories on crisps! The pizza and burgers can wait for another day!

QuimReaper · 19/09/2016 17:34

26 lengths! Woo!

BitOutOfPractice · 19/09/2016 18:15

Well done Quim

Hello we should challenge each other to give up on October! hopes hello won't agree

Helloheyhi · 19/09/2016 18:58

Oooh that's harsh BOOP! Grin
I have failed many times before but I am game if you are up for it? go hardcore us Grin

Quim that's very good progress, was it an extra 8 lengths from the last time? Very good!

Dyrne · 19/09/2016 21:00

Hope everyone's had a good weekend. I had a bit of a snacky weekend - went over on my calories yesterday again, and didn't manage to do much exercise in the end to counteract it.

Christening was absolutely lovely, baby was only 2 weeks old so still had that delicious newborn scrunchiness!

Ginger and Pony that's a good idea, something to occupy your hands to avoid mindless snacking. I am so jealous of crafty people, I'd love to be able to able to make stuff myself.

Quim great work building up the lengths!

BOOP and Hello - I was a crisp fiend as well. I manage to avoid them for the most part now but for a while if I was really craving something while out and about, and standing in the crisp section of the shop, I'd buy a bag of salted popcorn instead. That usually sorted out the salt craving, and for only 88 calories.

I weighed in this morning, I'm now officially under 11stone, PLUS i've now lost just over 7lbs in September; so can join others on the smug bench. Am hoping to lose another couple of lbs in the next couple of weeks, and of course i've got another couple of stone to go overall, am determined not to lose focus.

Ug big argument with the DH tonight and eaten my weight in bad food - any tips on counteracting emotional eating (other than divorce!)

QuimReaper · 19/09/2016 21:49

Superstar Flowers

Honestly, probably not what you want to hear, but I give myself a pass on bad days. Perhaps I'm lucky in that they're comparatively few and far between, but being miserable and hungry (or even virtuous!) seems like more trouble than it's worth!

One thing you could think about is whether there is a not-that-bad meal you like? Mine is a salad I make with warm halloumi, prawns, avocado and a bit of bacon. Super-yummy but at least not carby, and I certainly don't have it all the time, so a great treat to have lined up which you don't weep over the next morning.

QuimReaper · 19/09/2016 21:51

Thank you all for the length love Grin I am really pleased with myself for going from a very tough 18 lengths last week, to a comparatively easy 26 in only 3 swims! I'm hoping to be on 36 by the end of the month (to arbitrarily double my first swim). Amazing how quickly you can get back into the swing of it.

Superstar90 · 19/09/2016 21:56

Thanks Quim!

ponygirlcurtis · 19/09/2016 22:21

Good going Quim, you'll be at 36 before you know it.

Dyrne, fantastic! Well done you. Star
Re crafty stuff - I only started learning crochet in June/July, it was my summer project - taught myself from YouTube videos and blogs. I tried knitting before but found it really tricky but crochet is (to my mind) easier once you figure it out, which did take me a while. BOOP, I did buy two inner cushions so I will probably make another at some point, will consider the teal option!

Damage limitation, Superstar, don't beat yourself up about food as well as the argument. Hope everything is ok.

Period has started, now I want to eat everything in sight. Sad Pony hungreeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Superstar comfort eating is something I really struggle with, too, so no advice i'm afraid. I go through phases, at the moment i'm in a fairly good place so I can avoid buying/eating crap since I say to myself that I want the weight loss more than I want the chocolate. Objectively I can see that in the ling term i'll feel better being a lighter weight and feeling healthier, than I would at my heaviest weight scoffing chocolate but suffering from heartburn every day.

But when it gets bad there's no telling me and i'll just stuff my face! The key is to draw a line under it when stuff like that happens and resolve to get back on track, not to spend too much time beating yourself up going "the diet is ruined so I may as well eat crap".

Quim "length love" sounds like some sort of dodgy porn film... Grin

Pony I've never tried crochet; and using Youtube to learn sounds fun. Hipe you stay strong for the next week - lots of low calorie hot chocolate for the cravings?

BitOutOfPractice · 20/09/2016 07:42

I lost 3lbs this week taking me to 10 off in September and exactly 2stone off in total. I am so pleased with myself.

Quim I have found it really hard to build up my running again so you've done really well. Have done more length love

Dyrne very very well done on the loss. Enjoy that smug bench Grin

MegBusset · 20/09/2016 09:37

9st 2.25lb this morning. So ten days left to lose 2lb, ought to be possible right?

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 20/09/2016 10:02

Definitely possible Meg and brilliant loss BOOP!

I'm still struggling to walk after PT and scales seem resolutely stuck this week! Official weigh in Thursday so hope to see a little movement by then

BitOutOfPractice · 20/09/2016 13:00

Ginge my scales stuck fast all through August. It's odd when that happens isn't it? It will shift though eventually

QuimReaper · 20/09/2016 20:23

33 LENGHTS!!

Shock Grin

I am on fire!

...I'm not "in the zone" though, and no movement on the scales Sad

Must. Rediscover. Will power.

QuimReaper · 20/09/2016 21:11

I mean 32, obviously Blush

Dyrne · 20/09/2016 21:29

Hah, Quim, I had visions of you getting to the end of the 33rd length, deciding 'No more!', and shamefully getting out to walk back Grin Good work on the pool success, fingers crossed you get back into food success mode and the scales shift down!

BOOP 10lbs, that's brilliant for this month!

Meg great work, you should be able to lose at least 2lbs more this month, just keep doing what you're doing!

Ginger hopefully the scales shift soon, and sorry to hear you're still so sore!

DP is back from his holiday resolved to get back into healthy eating habits - am over the moon as it should make meal planning SO much easier!

QuimReaper · 20/09/2016 22:19

Thanks Dyrne - I've decided I'll be happy as long as I end the month in the 56s. Pathetically slow progress, but meh.

I don't know why I can't just get my hiney in gear. I was doing great in June, two fast days a week + two "good days", loads of walking, and the results really spurred me on. I seem to have lost the will to fast now, and my fast days keep disintegrating for no good reason Confused I have no idea how to "reboot" myself.

Still, excellent food day today, 10kish walked and 32 lengths, so onwards and upwards...

BitOutOfPractice · 20/09/2016 22:31

I just don't think I could do fast days.

ponygirlcurtis · 21/09/2016 09:40

Fantastic losses! So pleased for you all.

Ginger I am stuck on the no movement sofa too. Had a great August but it's just not happening this month. I am a really slow loser so would only really expect a couple of pounds. But I will keep going, even if I m not losing I am not gaining which I will take.

Morning! I'm at the gym waiting to be seen by the physio. Then a run. I don't want to run. It's hard Sad

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 21/09/2016 11:24

Good luck BOOP!

Typically the lack of movement on the scales has lead to self-sabotage and cheese on toast at work this morning Grin I'm claiming I'll need the extra energy for circuits later!
