Who's up for the 7lbs in September challenge?

ponygirlcurtis · 01/09/2016 08:32

Following on from June, July and August's threads, we're aiming to lose 7lbs.
(Posting as Rshard is still on holiday - hope you had a great time!)

All regimes welcome. Support and encouragement guaranteed!

My starting weight for September is 11st 5.25lbs. (I actually ended yesterday at 6.5lbs but the scales have jumped down again so I am having it!). That means I lost 5lbs in August. I found having this thread helped my focus and determination, if it helps anyone else, fantastic! Smile

Good luck everyone!

Bloody heck Dryne hope all is sorted now? Sounds terrible, hope your neighbour's house isn't too affected. Very frightening.

Boop are you looking for farro?

BitOutOfPractice · 17/09/2016 10:26

Farro! That's the chap! Thank you so much!

BitOutOfPractice · 17/09/2016 10:28

Blimey Dyrne that sounds very dramatic. Hope you're ok

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 17/09/2016 11:59

BOOP it's also known as "emmer wheat"

BitOutOfPractice · 17/09/2016 14:09

Is it readily available or will I have to go to a specialist shop? I'm dying to try it now I've read up on it

MsHeffalump · 17/09/2016 14:36

Treacherous brain won. Had a fair attempt at making 11,000 calories yesterday. Let's just draw a line under Friday, pretend it never happened, and move on. Going to wait a few days before I jump on the scales, and console myself with the fact that the rest of the month has had such a calorie deficit that this shouldn't be a major disaster.

Small sweet treats just don't work for me though. After a week of making healthy, non-processed choices, I lose my sweet tooth. If I then eat eg a biscuit, it reignites my sweet tooth and before I know it I'm lost under an avalanche of chocolate.

ponygirlcurtis · 17/09/2016 16:29

Pretend what happened, MsHeff? Wink
Drawing a line and resuming is all you can do. No point beating yourself up. One bad day won't erase all your good work.

And it only being one bad day is a massive improvement too! Last month's falling off the wagon took two weeks before I got back on track. This is progress!

BitOutOfPractice · 17/09/2016 17:32

I think that's how you know you're really in the zone. When you climb straight bank in the wagon if you fall off.

ponygirlcurtis · 17/09/2016 20:38

Great progress, MsHeff!

Went out for a woodland walk with DS2 today - was a lovely day and enjoyed being outdoors but the walk was a frustrating experience tbh, every 10-20 steps he wanted to stop and look at something for a minute. Took us sooooo long to cover any distance! Never mind about learning about the environment and making lovely memories, DS2, Mummy needs to power walk!! Grin I have been determined to reach the target today so I have just spent the last hour marching dancing on the spot in front of the TV to get to 10k steps. Yaaaaay!

MsHeffalump · 17/09/2016 21:21

Well done on 10k, ponygirl! I'm annoyed with my fitbit at the moment. Thursdays are my best day for walking, I always manage at least ten thousand steps. Bastard thing ran out of battery on Wednesday night and I didn't notice. Grrr!

CarrieLouise25 · 17/09/2016 22:07

I do the finishing off steps at home to get to 10k. Went out earlier for a walk with kids, quite chuffed with how long we were out, excitedly checked my pedometer. Forgot to put it on!

Hate not knowing what I've burnt. so I know what junk I can eat later

Just made jo wicks chicken pie. Oh my god. Was gorgeous! But. Did not serve 4, only me and DH. We were clearly very greedy hungry Grin

BitOutOfPractice · 17/09/2016 23:04

Carrie I've just got his book so I'll have to try that

Dyrne · 18/09/2016 07:40

I ate SO MUCH chinese food last night... so calorific but I have zero regrets - was a lovely meal with my dad and a family friend I haven't seen in ages. Stayed off the booze and had a lighter lunch in anticipation but was still probably close to 2000 kcals for yesterday Blush

Pony Hello BOOP yes, got absolutely no sleep on Thursday night so was a bit zombified on Friday (now I know how those with young babies feel! Grin ). We got off relatively lightly when you see pictures of villages with flooding etc.

MsH sorry to hear you had a bad day on Friday - I know what you mean about a switch going off and once you have one biscuit you have them all! I don't think i'll ever be one of those people that can have 'just one block of dark chocolate to ease the craving' - much easier to avoid it altogether! Well done about resolving to draw a line under it and not let it push you off track. You've done so well this month so i'm sure you'll be pleased with your overall loss.

Ponygirl That did make me laugh - small children are the worst exercise buddies! Great how you still managed to get your step count in though.

MrsH and Carrie - there's nothing worse than exercise you don't get the 'credit' for! Grin

I'm going to try and persuade my dad to go for a walk this morning, not sure if I'll succeed - but the rest of the day is lots of driving, then a Christening after which there's bound to be nibbles, then lots of driving back - so not much time to get some movement in! I've managed to meet my goals for the whole of September so far, I don't want to ruin my streak! Gotta get the crappy little animated trophy from my Apple Watch! Grin

Hooe everyone's having a good weekend.

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 18/09/2016 08:49

BOOP I found it in the same place as quinoa and lentils in our local tesco Smile

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 18/09/2016 08:50

They've also started selling this stuff which looks pretty high protein too -

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 18/09/2016 09:06

I've been cooking half a cup of farro and half a cup of quinoa (does enough for me and DH) in some bouillon and then topping with various veg - a version of this:

pinchofyum.com/rainbow-veggie-bowls-with-jalapeno-ranch

But with this dressing:

pinchofyum.com/5-minute-magic-green-sauce

Not low calories but very tasty and filling and feels pretty virtuous...

DoinItFine · 18/09/2016 09:12

I am in bed resting because a doze seems more valuable than breakfast right now.

Stupid decision, I know. But very tired this week.

My tummy is starting to look (kind of) flat again.

Shame it is all stretched skin and unlovely, but the developing bulge is subsiding.

DoinItFine · 18/09/2016 09:15

Oops, didn't mean to send.

Well done everyone on getting back on wagons straight away and enjoying treats when they come up rather than feeling stressed by trying to avoid them.

LOL at the child wanting to stop and look at things constantly Grin

Those are meant to be our "precious moments", but I can't bear a dawdly walk. You can never get into your stride.

ponygirlcurtis · 18/09/2016 09:20

That sauce looks amazing, Ginger. I don't have a food processor, keep wondering if I should get a wee one. Got literally no space on my kitchen counter though, only have one and it's cluttered already!

Carrie and BOOP - I have been wondering about getting the Joe Wicks book, and the Hemsley + Hemsley one. Would you recommend the Joe Wicks one, which one do you have?

Hope you have a good day at the christening, Dyrne - good position to be in with meeting your goals already!

I had planned to take the boys swimming this afternoon (opportunity for some calories burned for me!) but dS2 has quite a cough so will maybe need to rethink. Might be another evening of marching in front of the TV for me. Grin

Have a good day everyone.

A lay in sounds lovely DIT it's sooo worth skipping breakfast for imho Grin

62 kg today, 2.5kg off so far. After last month's shortcoming, this month's goal seems achievable now. Will read all the lovely update in a bit, hope everyone is having a good start to the day Flowers

Helloheyhi · 18/09/2016 09:25

Lie in!!! My brain no longer works!!!

teta · 18/09/2016 09:29

Ginger I love that blog. Those salad bowls look really yummy and healthy.
I didn't have time to have lunch yesterday and felt shaky by 3 pm in Tk Maxx .So i Bought what I though was the healthiest thing they sold : Kale chips. They weren't baked but dehydrated for the raw foodies. So basically dried stalks of Kale.It was literally the worse food I have ever tried.

ponygirlcurtis · 18/09/2016 09:58

Doin you reminded me of a Garfield strip from my youth (that obviously made an impression!).

Great loss, Hello!

Who's up for the 7lbs in September challenge?
OP posts:
GingerAndTheBiscuits · 18/09/2016 10:01

Oh teta that sounds horrendous!

pony I have a braun stick blender which seems to cope well with most things! Agree about food processor taking up way too much space
