Who's up for the 7lbs in September challenge?

Following on from June, July and August's threads, we're aiming to lose 7lbs.
(Posting as Rshard is still on holiday - hope you had a great time!)

All regimes welcome. Support and encouragement guaranteed!

My starting weight for September is 11st 5.25lbs. (I actually ended yesterday at 6.5lbs but the scales have jumped down again so I am having it!). That means I lost 5lbs in August. I found having this thread helped my focus and determination, if it helps anyone else, fantastic! Smile

Good luck everyone!

Thank you Pony please would you mind sharing your slaw recipe? Thanking you!
Awesome Holly it can only go down from here on!
Almost half way mark to the month!

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 14/09/2016 08:04

Quinoa is the only complete protein I think, but there's a couple of others that have pretty good amounts. Though I've read recently that we don't need nearly as much protein as MFP suggests which is handy as a veggie!

Dyrne · 14/09/2016 08:37

Great work on the new stone bracket, Holly

Sadly I didn't manage to have a BBQ last night - ended up having to rush some pasta in the end. My food scales broke so i've erred on the side of caution when logging my calories. Then DP presented me with an ice cream as a fait accompli so had to eat that as well - estimate calories yesterday clocked in at over 1700 Blush I still managed to keep in the 'green' on MFP due to exercise calories, but I must do better today! DP's off on a trip Thurs-Mon so hopefully I can reign in the calories without him being a bad influence!

Today is my first day going cold turkey on the diet coke. I've got a big bottle of water in front of me at my desk and am just praying the caffeine withdrawal isn't too bad!

BitOutOfPractice · 14/09/2016 09:25

Oh good luck Dyrne - I know that can be tough!

ponygirlcurtis · 14/09/2016 09:29

Morning everyone. I am still apparently a lb up despite being in a 5k+ deficit this week and last, so a loss would be expected. Confused The one thing I am focusing on is that normally when I weigh daily my weight constantly bounces around within a few pounds but this weight has been fixed exactly the same for the last week so that's not normal. grasping at straws

Here's the recipe, Hello. www.slimmingworld.co.uk/recipes/hot-and-spicy-coleslaw.aspx
Normally I increase the quantities by about 1.5-2 times. Also, I sometimes can't get a fresh red cabbage so I use a jar of the pickled stuff.

Thanks Pony I will attempt it this weekend, love trying new recipes.

Ughh that's so frustrating but know that you will soon hit a bigger loss. Sometimes your body is just building up to a bigger loss that's what I tell myself you are doing everything right and hopefully not long to see the results on the scale. When I have zero loss, I tell myself that eating right and exercising is having a positive impact on me such as more energy, better sleep, less stress and reduced risk of many diseases. It is really really frustrating though!

BitOutOfPractice · 14/09/2016 10:08

We are having Cauliflower and cashew nut curry tonight. Not tried it before so I have no idea what it'll be like. It's 193 calories a portion (coconut milk is REALLY calorific isn't it?) so I hope it's nice

DoinItFine · 14/09/2016 10:14

193 calories is pretty low for a dinner.

I normally go anything up to 550.

Yes, coconut milk is really calorific Grin

But so delicious.

BitOutOfPractice · 14/09/2016 10:22

I will be having a naan with it doin but forgot to add them to the shop I had delivered this morning! Doh!

Dinner is usually my "biggest" meal of the day as well. Though I've had a "fry up" this morning which was LUSH!

MsHeffalump · 14/09/2016 10:50

DPs presenting treat foods as though you'll be overjoyed is a right bugger. After I posted last night I discovered mine had made chocolate rice crispie buns. I may have accidentally eaten eight. He is on strict instructions to bring no more sugary crap into the house. I can resist it a lot more easily when it's not there!

Scales have bounced back up a bit (not surprisingly) but I'm still four pounds down since the start of the month. Happy enough with that.

DoinItFine · 14/09/2016 11:06

Thankfully DH doesn't go in much for actual tasty treats.

His idea of a good time is a cup of tea and a couple (yes, 2) of malted milks. Hmm

Comes in handy at times like this.

BitOutOfPractice · 14/09/2016 11:32

My DP is doing this with me so I'm safe!

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 14/09/2016 12:41

My DH is having a dry September and I was supposed to have given up chocolate for the month too. Oops.

DoinItFine · 14/09/2016 12:46

I'm having a (mostly) dry September too.

Alcohol has so many calories and encourages the consumption of even more!

I drank a bit last weekend after my race. But none other than that.

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 14/09/2016 13:00

I think it also inhibits the body from breaking down fat? But I may have made that up!

QuimReaper · 14/09/2016 13:41

I'm weighing in this afternoon.

Was out to dinner yesterday and had wine and Macaroni Cheese, but I was exquisitely controlled until then so hoping it won't be too bad.

Going for another swim first too!

MegBusset · 14/09/2016 15:49

9st 2.5lb this morning which is the lowest I've been in a year!

It must be the weather, it's too hot to eat and I must be losing quite a lot of sweat

Rshard · 14/09/2016 16:21

Nice result meg!

How did the weigh in go quim?

QuimReaper · 14/09/2016 18:39

57.3 Angry

That's the measliest loss in the world!

Don't know quite what I expected after pasta and wine last night, but I am an eternal optimist!

Still, swam 22 lengths, walked about 8.5km and rocking a fast day so maybe I'll try again tomorrow Grin

MsHeffalump · 14/09/2016 20:20

I'd take a measly loss over a measly gain any day. Excellent work, Quim!

Also well done to Meg! Pointless fact of the evening: I'm less than a stone heavier than two of you. Not quite sure why my brain thought that particular bit of automatic mental arithmetic would cheer me up...

Who was wondering about different flavoured teas? The amazon fairy brought me three new types of rooibos today. Have tried chocolate and vanilla. Smells weird, tastes alright, and I can see myself developing a taste for it. Pomegranate and acai rooibos is currently brewing. I hope it tastes as good as it smells!

Dyrne · 14/09/2016 20:33

Thanks Bit. First day without diet coke went OK. I got a bit more tired towards the afternoon without the caffeine boost, and am a bit headachey now; but nothing too horrendous. Hopefully i'll get a good night's sleep tonight.

Pony that must be so frustrating! Fingers crossed it's just residual water and you can shift it soon.

Ooh and Bit how did the curry go? I am deeply suspicious of recipes that claim you can get cauliflour to act like rice, is it passable?

Heffalump DP is the worst for it, he's so supportive but I don't think he understands that 'just the odd treat here and there' soon adds up! He's 6ft3 so his body is much more forgiving of all the crap he eats. DoinIt I need your DP!

Great work on the weigh in, Meg!

Quim - it's still a loss! I don't like weighing during the day as all the food i've eaten will still be sitting in my stomach. I weigh first thing in the morning - i'm sure that saves vital grams! Grin

My plan was to do a Dry September but that went out of the window on day 2. I have settled with only drinking at the weekend, which considering I was drinking pretty much every evening is a good effort at cutting back. I don't have anything planned for this weekend so should manage to avoid the booze.

I had steak tonight, finally! Had it with some veg and a small amount of potatoes. Thanks to a light lunch I'm actually way under my calorie limit for today - now, should I have a cheeky treat or be virtuous?

MsHeffalump · 14/09/2016 21:53

Join me on the virtuous bench, please. DP's mother, who was here on Saturday, for some unknown reason always brings us a bag full of random shopping. Including some weird minty wafer tube things, two packets of jammy dodgers, and a bag of pork scratchings. I found myself standing in the kitchen with the minty waver tin open in my hands, then put it back in the cupboard. Without eating any. A treacherous part of my brain is now trying to convince me that I should reward myself for this superhuman feat. With a jammy dodger.

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 14/09/2016 23:57

Nicely done MsH!!

QuimReaper · 15/09/2016 00:20

MsH you can have a solid gold star from me, because I abandoned my fast day and had wine Blush

I think you deserve a meal!

QuimReaper · 15/09/2016 00:20

...that was supposed to be "medal", but it's an apt typo in the circumstances Grin
