Who's up for the 7lbs in September challenge?

ponygirlcurtis · 01/09/2016 08:32

Following on from June, July and August's threads, we're aiming to lose 7lbs.
(Posting as Rshard is still on holiday - hope you had a great time!)

All regimes welcome. Support and encouragement guaranteed!

My starting weight for September is 11st 5.25lbs. (I actually ended yesterday at 6.5lbs but the scales have jumped down again so I am having it!). That means I lost 5lbs in August. I found having this thread helped my focus and determination, if it helps anyone else, fantastic! Smile

Good luck everyone!

Rosy I have that sometimes with mfp when i have done a long run. This morning I burned 900 calories so the chances of me eating enough today to compensate for that are slim....unless I drink the prosecco that's in the fridge?!

MegBusset · 09/09/2016 13:25

Well done losers! I'm 9st 3.75 this morning so 1.75lb so far. It takes a lot longer to come off than when I was younger sadly :(

springlenner · 09/09/2016 14:44

Carrie good plan - will check out the menu now.
So far today I've just had porridge for breakfast and an apple - and I'm not hungry so hopefully will have some calories to spend on wine this evening... mind you I might only need one glass if I don't have something small before I go Smile

QuimReaper · 09/09/2016 14:52

Carrie YES to jeans! I'm always hearing people talking about hiding out in jeans and a jumper" when they're feeling fat, but I hate wearing them with a wobbly belly and saddlebags. I need my stomach to be either hidden under a skirt or supported by a dress, I feel weirdly vulnerable in jeans, like there's nowhere to hide.

CarrieLouise25 · 09/09/2016 15:19

Definitely feel vulnerable in jeans! Smile

I have black (supposedly slimming colour) leggings with a reinforced tummy panel to suck everything in Grin - it is the only thing I can wear (I have a few pairs...)

Yes, spring, def check out calories before. You just can't relax otherwise (I can't anyway). If you know your choices, save up your calories, you can enjoy guilt free! If you do what I did first time, the whole evening out was tarnished by my tantrum shock at finding out what I'd just eaten (without starter or pudding or wine!!!)

Skala - I'd be eying up the prosecco after that 900 calorie burn!

Meg - so true. Not only that but I remember eating and eating and eating and never putting on weight.

Dyrne · 09/09/2016 15:21

My item of clothing is a lovely purple Karen Millen dress I bought in 2009 - it has the most beautiful embroidery on it and i'd love to wear it again. It's a size 12 so hopefully next year I can wear it.

I've started looking online at menus as well when going out - that way I dont feel uncomfortable at the thought of agonising over a menu thinking what to have; I can just plan ahead, relax, and enjoy the meal. I have noticed that some of the Weatherspoons-style pubs have an "under 500kcals" section; which has been handy for spontaneous meals.

Rosy hopefully you'll get a good deal on the Apple Watch as they've just announced the new one - unless you wanted to get that one? It's water resistant apparently so you can take it swimming!

MFP often moans at me for not eating enough but I ignore it. I dont really see the point of eating something purely for the sake of making up calories. For example yesterday I had a ham salad samdwich for lunch; then a pork chop, a small amiunt of potatoes, and loads of veg for dinner. I was perfectly satisfied so didnt bother having anything else, even though I was under 1000kcals.

QuimReaper · 09/09/2016 17:17

Dyrne is it purple satin with embroidered shoulders?!

Dyrne · 09/09/2016 18:38

Quim no it's got asymmetrical straps for the shoulders - the embroidery is on the body and skirt. That one sounds pretty though - do you have one?

ponygirlcurtis · 10/09/2016 08:24

Fantastic to hear of all the losses! Really well done. Star

My 1lb gain still won't shift but I know it will at some point - my stomach has been a bit churny and I am bloated with wind. Could really do with going for a run but won't have a chance this weekend.

I am a funny size at the moment - 14 on the top half but not always on the bottom (depends on make). And I have to wear white to this prosecco afternoon I am going to, which is not my colour at all. Hopefully after a few glasses I won't care!

Well done Meg and Carrie on the losses and welcome Babooshka.

Skala, hope you treated yourself to some of that prosecco last night after that mad 900 calorie burn Wink

Dyrne, yes, I'm going to look around today and see if I can get a deal on the Apple Watch. Looking forward to getting it now. Love the sound of that Karen Millen dress. I have an embroidered one from there too bought last Christmas.

Did a HIIT class last night and stayed off the wine, but out for dinner this evening, so planning to enjoy a couple of glasses. Everything in moderation Smile Although I need to push myself to get out for a run or something today so I don't feel guilty later...

Hope you had a nice meal last night Spring.

cupofrooibos · 10/09/2016 12:34

This morning was my first September weigh in at slimming world after three weeks off for holidays. Total gain of 6.5lb which puts me 13.5lb above my target weight (which I was last at in March Blush). Aiming for a stone off by Christmas.

Feeling good and determined! Have just had spinach and cheese omelette with beans for lunch (4 syns for cheese)

cupofrooibos · 10/09/2016 12:35

Am trying to be kind to my body too with early nights and yoga classes to boost general health rather than just focus on 'being skinny'.

QuimReaper · 10/09/2016 15:10

Dyrne ah, not the same as mine then - I wore mine to a wedding in 2011 and couldn't dream of zipping it up now, I thought it'd be funny if we had the same one!

That one isn't even on my radar to get into for now, I'm probably over 10lbs away from that...

MegBusset · 10/09/2016 18:13

9st 3.5lb this morning, so 2lb gone so far.

Updated my weight on MFP and it cut 20 calories off my daily allowance!Angry

Skala123 · 10/09/2016 19:59

Gaaahhhh bad weekend. Kids being hard work so DH bought us M&S meal with pudding and wine so we don't have to cook tonight. No exercise today and unlikely tomorrow either. Weekends are so hard Sad

Dyrne · 10/09/2016 20:20

Evening all. Last night's beers ended at 6am this morning - safe to say I am not feeling well today!

I've been ruthless and have logged every bottle, plus the two bacon sandwiches last night and two this morning. Then of course the massive plate of pasta bolognaise required this evening... Blush Managed to get out for a walk today which has helped offset the calories a bit but I'm ready to draw a line under it and start afresh.

Very early night required tonight I think...

Quim 2011 was about the last time I wore my KM dress! Blush Not quite the same but I wore a jumper last night that I havent worn in a couple of months - it was a bit unflatteringly tight in April but it fits me quite nicely now. The friend we saw last night complimented me on my weight loss which was a nice boost*

Frooibos i'm doing exactly the same - really focusing on improving my health this time around rather than purely vanity reasons.

leesmum · 10/09/2016 20:21

Skala weekends are my weak point, I do really well in the week and seem to blow it a bit by weekend, but I'm determined to do more walking and fit a few more runs in too.

Keep going ladies, loving the support on here Flowers

rosyvalentine · 11/09/2016 00:43

Oh Lordy! I'm the same. Weekends are soooo hard. HUGE Indian meal tonight that included a beer and half a bottle of wine. Hope I make it to my TRX session at 11am Confused Won't be standing on the scales en route!

Helloheyhi · 11/09/2016 07:56

Morning all
Great job on all the clothing victories! Well done on all the losses as well! My scale's battery is down so no weigh in for me till next week.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend Flowers

NapQueen · 11/09/2016 10:26

Weigh in day for me. Starting weight was 13.7. Weight today was 13.3. Nice 4lb loss overall though I've been unofficially weighing daily and have seen the scales read 13.2.

Main change was to diet (letting myself get properly hungry, mindful if what I'm eating and how much.), however I definitely need to improve my water intake and my exercise levels for the next few weeks.

NapQueen · 11/09/2016 10:28

Has anyone swapped out regular tea with milk to something still as delicious but healthier?

I usually have four cups of tea over the day and whilst I don't have sugar in it or biscuits I do have milk and wondered if there were any herbals that weren't sweet or bitter?

ponygirlcurtis · 11/09/2016 11:01

I was the same Nap, realised I was easily using up 200 calories on milk for tea. I have now cut back on the amount of milk I use and sometimes swap for a mint tea, which I really like.

Had a fantastic afternoon out yesterday. Drank a LOT! But the majority was gin cocktails which weren't high in calories and also added some soft drinks in there so today I don't have a hangover. Also didn't eat that much Blush and gained calories back from a bit of dancing so my day's totals are actually evened out! And I have just been for a 5k run so feel pretty good today. Scales still being silly buggers but I am ignoring them

MsHeffalump · 11/09/2016 15:53

I've switched from 10+ pints of tea with semi skimmed milk a day, to 1, and the rest rooibos. Also resisting swigging straight out of the bottle whenever I'm thirsty. Had to pour away two pints of milk yesterday as it hit the use by date. Previously I'd have drunk it all and another four pint bottle in that time.

user1471524896 · 11/09/2016 21:30

Well done nap. I need to sort the tea habit too due to excess milk. In previous healthy times I have gone with nice fruit/herbal teas - if you look in the shops there are some really nice ones- I've liked salted caramel and caramelised Apple ones in the past.
Still no scales here either! Will have to weigh at work and then start from there.

Dyrne · 11/09/2016 21:40

I'm quite lucky - I don't actually like tea or coffee so don't have those milk calories to worry about.

I have consumed over 2000 kcals today - although I have burned over 800 active calories due to a lovely 8 mile walk through the countryside. Weekly weigh in is tomorrow -hopefully I haven't done too much damage this weekend!
