Who's up for the 7lbs in September challenge?

ponygirlcurtis · 01/09/2016 08:32

Following on from June, July and August's threads, we're aiming to lose 7lbs.
(Posting as Rshard is still on holiday - hope you had a great time!)

All regimes welcome. Support and encouragement guaranteed!

My starting weight for September is 11st 5.25lbs. (I actually ended yesterday at 6.5lbs but the scales have jumped down again so I am having it!). That means I lost 5lbs in August. I found having this thread helped my focus and determination, if it helps anyone else, fantastic! Smile

Good luck everyone!

The thing that's motivated me again is the fact I was bulging out of my clothes. I bought some lovely bits as a treat before Christmas last year and I daren't wear most of it now! Whhhhhhy does it take seconds to put the weight on and months to work it off!!

MsHeffalump · 08/09/2016 17:51

I'm quite a bit heavier than I was the day I gave birth. Whoops. I've just been looking at my fitbit weight records. Since I got it at the start of February I've been bouncing around between 275 and 285, with a high weight just after my birthday in May of 288. Today I am 274lbs! So that's a stone down in four months (I am ignoring water, and the weight of the contents of my intestines, and daily fluctuations). Knowing that has certainly boosted my mood!

10k steps done, 10 arbitrary units on the bike done, declined a chocolate mousse after tea. And I feel in no danger of nibbling through the evening because I'm vaping strawberry flavour today. It's like smoking pudding, except without the ashtray taste.

user1471524896 · 08/09/2016 20:38

Presumably you smoked and have given up mrsheffalump? The vaping sounds tasty! Good to have a record of a good weight loss.
I see Rshard - I had thought all fitbits were watches . I will check out the Alta. Thanks!! Smile

ponygirlcurtis · 08/09/2016 20:43

Fantastic Quim! Sometimes that is better than seeing the scales shift. And well done rosy and everyone else - keep it up!

Pikachu I see your 1lb loss and I raise you a 1lb gain. Blush But MFP and Fitbit confirms that my deficit for the week is more like a 1.5lb loss so I just need to sit tight. It will show in its own sweet time. Not frustrating at all

Hope your DD had a good first day, Rshard. Scary stuff, that will be me in a year with DS1!

Thank you for the welcome everyone.
I have downloaded My Fitness Pal many moons ago and have reactivated the account today.I:m trying to eat minimal carbs - no rice, pasta, bread or cereal.I did have a bit of Potato in my Yorkshire Provender Chicken soup today though. And 3 bites of cheesecake my Dh brought back from Milan tonight.
I'm another one that has lots of clothes i don't fit into anymore sadly.

Rshard · 08/09/2016 21:58

user it looks more like a bracelet but it does tell the time.

She had a great day thanks pony.

I had a non scales victory today - ordered a size 12 dress for winter and it fits me! Yay! How shallow am I!?

ponygirlcurtis · 08/09/2016 22:46

Size 12, that's brilliant! Great result.

Great work on the losses, even 1lb lost is a lb in the right direction. Sorry to hear about your 'gain' Pony, glad to hear you're being sensible about things. Hopefully things will shift downwards for you soon.

Rosy I have an apple watch! I love it, it's the best thing ever. I've found it useful for days when I can't meet the walking gosl but can jump on my exercise bike and know i've met the 'calories burnt' goal. Plus it bugs me to stand up and stretch once an hour which is great when i'm at work sitting at my desk all day.

Quim and Rshard great work on the clothing victories. I've got a pile of clothing up in the loft i'll hipefully be able to bring down at some point.

Heffalump good thinking with making the vaping work for your diet!!

Teta you weigh just less than what I was at my heaviest last year (90.4kg). I was prompted by health concerns as well. various family members have weight related issues (high BP, Type 2, strokes, heart attacks). I suffered from daily heartburn and was getting some worrying diabetes symptoms. I feel so much better having lost 3 stone - no more heartburn or symptoms. I am looking forward to losing another 3 stone and focusing on getting fitter and healthier.

Had a good day calorie wise. Tomorrow i'll be good for the first part of the day but I'm meeting a friend for dinner and copious beers Grin Hopefully I wont do too much damage!

Groovee · 08/09/2016 23:38

I've not managed 7lb in August but am 12lbs lighter than when I started which I am happy with. BMI now 41.8. Still aiming for 40.

Dyrne · 09/09/2016 07:09

Groovee that's great progress! Hopefully you'll meet your Stone milestone this month! Smile

leesmum · 09/09/2016 07:10

Morning ladies, so please to hear of all the loses this week....just 1lb for me though Sad I did expect more but I know what I'm doing wrong (biscuits) and i WILL do better next week!!!

Groovee · 09/09/2016 07:43

Well done Lee. 1lb is great x

twobambinos · 09/09/2016 10:13

Well done groovee that is great progress
Lee a pound is a pound in the right direction don't beat yourself up too much.
I've just had breakfast two lean rashers and a poached egg on a toasted English muffin with spinach. I'm not sure it was low calorie but it was wholesome and tasty!

QuimReaper · 09/09/2016 10:40

Does anyone else have a specific Wardrobe Item?

I have A Pink Dress. It is the loveliest, classiest Pink Dress ever, and putting it on always gave me untold joy. It's only from Warehouse and I got it for a snip on eBay but I love love love it.

I haven't worn it for probably four years Sad In theory it should fit me now, but it's a stiff, unforgiving fabric and even at my lightest before my wedding (A smidge under 56KG) it bulged at the waistband and stuck out.

The day I get into The Pink Dress again I'll be SO happy! I have a profile picture of me in 2010 looking gorgeously slim in it (if I says so meself) and I sometimes scroll back to it and sigh Blush

QuimReaper · 09/09/2016 10:44

2012*

MsHeffalump · 09/09/2016 10:48

I have a specific entire drawer! My sister tends to give me her tops when she falls out of love with them. Back when she was a size 14 and I was 14 stone, this worked reasonably well. These days, not so much. Many tops, with lovely colourful patterns. My back is too fat and my hips too enormous for them at the moment, but they're too nice to throw away.

First weigh of the month was Friday so today is officially my first weigh in of the month. 6lbs lost! If only I could do that every week...

twobambinos · 09/09/2016 10:53

Yes my specific wardrobe item at the moment is my sports bras. When they fit without ripping me in two I'll be the happiest person on the planet

DoinItFine · 09/09/2016 10:55

6lbs?! Wow, that's amazing.

You're 1lb away from our monthly target.

Well done!

seekingthesunlight · 09/09/2016 11:36

I have a really beautiful pop art vintage style dress - it's always been a size too small for me, but I'd be really chuffed if I managed to slim down enough to get into it! I've decided to leave the weighing until the end of the month and just pray that something has shifted Smile

Rshard · 09/09/2016 12:00

mdheff that's awesome! Well done!

I had a Barbour jacket that I tried on every month to check. Last September the gap between the two parts of the zip was about 4 inches. It now fits me! I dug out an old north face jacket last night so that's my new clothing goal.

I've found that I now longer like some of my old stuff (any excuse for new). Also that trouser leg shape is very different, only talking 6 years ago but they're so wide!

BabooshkaKate · 09/09/2016 12:11

Joining in!

I am 68kg (starting weight 70) and want to get down to 56kg.

I am on the 5:2 diet which is super effective but puts me in a foul mood.

springlenner · 09/09/2016 12:16

MrsHeffalump amazing job Flowers - keep going, you'll get there!

Weekly weigh in for me this morning - 9st11lb - that's 3 1/2 lbs - half way to my target for September - thrilled!
Although it is the first week so always get a decent loss week 1 - I'm a pound a week girl usually... my wardrobe item is the jeans I bought in June that wouldn't close on my last Sunday Hmm
Plan for the week - keep doing what I'm doing - move more, low-carb/slimming world/eating clean mash up. And a food diary.

Off out to Prezzo with DH and kids this evening. Hopefully will order the salad......

PetersonPeterson · 09/09/2016 12:50

Wow some good weight loss from everyone so far. I only started on Wednesday but have been good so far. Have run every day, kept to planned meals and avoided snacks. In the past it has taken a week or two to start losing weight and then I lose a couple of pounds a week. Long term aims.

rosyvalentine · 09/09/2016 12:50

Thanks Dyrne for the Apple Watch update. That's what I was hoping to hear. I need something like that to motivate me! Will get online and order one now Smile.

Well done on your losses Lee, Groovee and Spring. 6lbs MsHeffa ?? Amazing! Go you!

I'm down another 1lb this morning, but only because I ate very little yesterday and did a 6km interval run last night on an empty stomach. Interestingly, MFP wouldn't let me complete my daily diary entry because it said my calories were too low - had to eat some brazil nuts and a protein shake before bed. The chances of such a low food intake happening again anytime soon are slim Smile but I'm happy enough to see the scales moving in the right direction. Good luck for the weekend everyone. That's when I find it really hard to stick to my plan...

CarrieLouise25 · 09/09/2016 13:07

Another 1lb down for me, total 3.4lbs for Sept so far. Another inch off my waist too. Has spurred me on to just keep going!

My specific item is a gorgeous polkadot dress from Jane Norman. I have some really lovely dresses and the day I can fit back into any one of them, I shall be ecstatic!

Well done everyone on the losses so far. I wonder what we've lost collectively?!

Oh, and jeans. Haven't worn jeans for ages now. Would love to wear jeans without bulging out over the top.

Spring - we went to Prezzo recently, and I looked up info on the calories before hand so I knew what I wanted. Made the mistake of ordering the pork belly one time (over 1100 calories!) - so I always try and check it out before I go.

Pizza express do a lovely leggera menu for under 600 calories - pizza and salad - so yummy!

Happy weekend to everyone!
