Kids?! 1lb a week loss! Grin

Sugarandsalt · 20/09/2016 09:05

Welcome overtired which is incidentally exactly how I feel today (toddler wanted to start the day at 2am!). I've been hovering at around 12stone for what feels like forever so we are in it together!

Bathsheba3 · 20/09/2016 09:44

Welcome over. Come join me in the wine-free corner!

Ah ha - bootcamp Not. Good luck. As soon as I get into the 11s again, I'll join you ... or do something similar. Do report back !!

Overtiredbackagain · 20/09/2016 10:12

I have previous success with 5:2 and especially Cambridge, but I just can't get into the mindset at the moment. DD who is 1, has some physical problems we are trying to overcome, which I am really struggling with, DD(7) seems to be going through a combination of early onset teenage years with a mixture of acting like a 3 year old!! DS(11) is just settling into secondary school, he's doing great, but in the space of two weeks has cloned into a 15 year old. Whilst I should be focussing my energies on helping DD to get on track, I seem to be non-stop shouting/rowing/crying with the eldest two Sad

Anyway, sorry enough waffle! I found 5:2 and Cambridge great whilst working, no thinking about food, but now eldest DD is of an age to understand, I don't feel they are the best way to encourage healthy eating (I am having problems with getting her to eat Sad), so I thought I'd try calorie counting.

Wine is a great crutch for me (obviously far from ideal), I enjoy a glass of wine of an evening once I have sorted the kids, finished work and domestic chores are out of the way, but once I have a glass, I want the bottle. This morning was the first day in I don't know how long I haven't woken up with a fuzzy head through wine (this morning was just lack of sleep!).

Exercise? I'd love to! Time, I have none - seriously!

Anyway, that's my introduction (waffling too much). I have a wonderful DP (my toyboy at 15 years my junior!) who is DD dad. My eldest two adore him (their dad is present but actively shit!).

Thanks for listening, and I'm really looking forward to beating this once and for all!

coragreta · 20/09/2016 10:58

Welcome overtired. I have a lo too and am trying to encourage healthy eating. When I'm off work and in the evenings lo eats what I eat which is a great motivation to stay healthy. Today we will be having crackers with chicken and pepper and cucumber slices. Lo will probably eat half a cracker and nothing else but still.
Hope this works for you. And well done keeping off the wine last night.

Not2bObvious · 20/09/2016 11:24

Welcome overtired Just think by giving up or reducing the wine you'll be saving £ & lbs😉 And let's face that grotty feeling in the mornings is the worst especially with kids about. Sounds like you have your plate full, don't worry about exercise at this stage, it's not great for losing weight at the start, diets key. My exercise is purely for my mental state at the moment, at the very least I'm hoping my bc might burn off the 3 bikkies I just snaffled (what am I like!!!) Trying not to panic too much about the class, this guy is seriously tough😩

Bathsheba3 · 20/09/2016 12:43

is he good looking too Not?

Sugarandsalt · 20/09/2016 12:53

I've been starving all day. Just had an early lunch with my DH who works fairly nearby. Went to itsu and had a delicious dumpling melt soup for 280cals and a mini sashimi pack for 80. I've taken some of their seaweed thins to nibble at my desk and have some fruit there too. I'm going to finish a little early today and walk to Argos to pick up my new 2kg handweights which hopefully will make my 30day shred more effective than the tins of beans! I'm seriously stiff now though, God knows how I'll be tomorrow!

Overtired good luck giving up the wine, you are definitely right to nip it on the bud if it's becoming a crutch.

Not good luck with boot camp, think how great you'll feel afterwards. My instructor was really tough too, I spent all day dreading it but always was delighted I went. And it definitely helped- I was 9stone with a 26inch waist on my wedding day. Then I got pregnant on my honeymoon and it was all downhill from there weight wise!

Not2bObvious · 20/09/2016 13:04

Bit short for my liking but yeah as eye candy goes he's pretty alright😉 He gets less attractive as the class goes on& you think you're about to die😂

Bathsheba3 · 20/09/2016 14:19
Wink
Not2bObvious · 20/09/2016 14:29

And I've just eaten another biscuit to really make it worth my while...honestly I'm useless today!

Overtiredbackagain · 20/09/2016 14:58

But Not, surely you've earned it with your exercise today?? Do you eat-back your exercise calories?

DawheadAwgusEeentock · 20/09/2016 15:14

Not2b oh if I start describing work issues I will definitely do a full 40-pager. My role is very tenuous at the moment, so the fact I'm (sort of) staying off choccies is amazing me. I do think it's actually help me deal with things though and not go through violent mood swings.

Ooo bootcamp is going ahead - good luck and have fun and mind all your joints!

Hopefully at least you're back on the nutritious food now - that's the way to do it. And well done on losing the 1lb already Star!

coragreta wow 1000 for a day - well done on the 1lb Star. Gosh it must be so exciting being so close to all the milestones!

madein your swimming sessions are brilliant and that new leisure centre sounds lovely. You just reminded me we haven't had meatballs in ages (makes note for next supermarket shop).

Sugarandsalt I am no help to you on salads (obvs) but can I just say your meals sound really lovely. When I get time I am going to start looking up and learning recipes as our meals are v boring.

I meant to say this on my last post - are you doing the Jillian Michaels (sp?) 30 day shred? If so, just be careful of your knees - I did it a good few years ago and it was the first time my knees starting giving me any trouble. IIRC it was the jumping exercises that were a bit too much for me. Otherwise it's brilliant though - I lost loads of weight and inches back then.

Bendydick, Callme and keepon well done on the v gd calories totals!

Loli wow exercise and only 900 cals yesterday - did you have a treat in the end? And well done on the 1lb Star!

Aw Fitter sometimes it's just too tempting to have a nice breakfast and porridge can be v boring so don't be hard on yourself. Monday's suck anyway.

Bath ignore the red stuff - you are doing great don't give in Grin. And 1/2lb is great - every ounce matters - well done Star

Overtired welcome Flowers and thanks for joining us! You are a v busy lady so I would echo what Not2B said - exercise has its benefits but it's absolutely possible to lose a lot with calorie counting on its own.

Soup day today but I got the munchies afterwards so I've nearly made up for it in biccies, total of 1190, sigh:
B: Porridge 190
L: Soup, slice of bread and lots of biccies Sad 470
D: Pork chop, spuds and veg 530

Hoping to start back walking the dog tomorrow morning. Can't believe I would ever say this but I'm actually looking forward to it. Although it will probably rain just to spite me Grin.

SesameSparkle · 20/09/2016 15:29

I've had a busy 2 days and haven't had a chance to catch up on the thread yet - it moves so fast! I will read and comment properly later, meanwhile I wanted to leave my own selfish update.

I finally hit 10st yesterday morning! Grin So so happy to see a nice drop now af has buggered off. And better than that, as I always round up to the nearest whole lb, the scales were actually showing a '9' for the first time! That now takes my total loss to 2st4. I'm still keeping my targets quite modest, so the most I would want to aim for right now is to lose another 2lb and then see how I get on.

I had lovely long walk yesterday afternoon, hitting over 15,000 steps. Couldn’t resist a scone, jam and butter on the way back though. Adding that to lunch out and then dinner meant I finished the day 340cals over. Back in the office today and the treats are getting out of hand, with colleagues' home baking – always harder to resist than shop bought. But I’ve filled up on a big savoury lunch and after the treats yesterday I refuse to be led astray.

The thing I do really need to sort right now are my clothes. It’s another reason why I really want to stabilise my weight pronto as I’m desperate to update my wardrobe. I’ve been buying a few new bits slowly, but still wearing a lot of my old stuff. I had a proper ‘I’ve got nothing to wear’ strop this morning, trying on too many combinations of skirt/bra/cami/tops with an old skirt to try and make an outfit. In the end I pulled the whole lot off to stick on one of my newer summer dresses. I’m officially sick of baggy bras (I spent £100 on bras 2 months and 6lb ago, wtf?), baggy blouses (it turns out I can’t just tuck them inside a skirt after all), and vest tops that don’t cover my modesty. I had to wear a new sports bra out for the whole day yesterday as I only bought it on Friday, and it is literally the only bra I own that fits. I need to have another look through my cast offs again to see if there is anything I might be able to have altered – I haven’t had a lot of success with this approach tbh, as there are lots of things like side pockets that would make a simple take-in along the seams pretty hopeless.

Onwards and downwards peeps!

Overtiredbackagain · 20/09/2016 15:36

Wow, amazing Sesame!! How long has it taken you to lose that amount of weight?

Bathsheba3 · 20/09/2016 15:48

Star for sesame & fantastic weight loss & baggy bras, and Star for Dawhead too for lovely posts for everyone, as always. And a big fat Star for me too, as I'm having a good day, and feeling up-beat despite a mound of work and no exercise. Lets hope DC's don't scupper my good mood the minute they return from school ...

SesameSparkle · 20/09/2016 16:50

over welcome to the thread – what is your target weight? Thanks, it’s been a slow and steady 5 months for me.

sugar good for you for doing the shred and investing in those hand weights. I’ve never been able to get my head round home workouts – I can go out the house for half an hour or so running occasionally, but I’ve never been able to follow an at home routine. It sounds like you’ll be back on track by the end of the week.

not good luck at boot camp – loving the tales Wink, you’ll definitely have earned that biccie! Cake

dawhead glad you’ll get out with the dog tomorrow, mind you take it easy on your knees

hopefully glad the bloat looks like it’s on its way out

cora nice work! – what is your reward going to be?

loli sounds like you are on a roll – good for you! I quite like the cauldron sausages, if you’re looking for an alternative to all that quorn. They come out at 160 odd cals for 2, which means you can add lots of other bits to make up a nice meal, and I’ve even cooked and eaten them cold the next day.

fitter hope today is a better day?

bath thanks! And yay for a good day – fingers crossed the winning streak continues! Smile

Lolimax · 20/09/2016 17:23

Sesame that's amazing well done Smile
Daw head I've had a shit day at work as well. I nearly cried when I came home- massive HR issue. I think I handled it ok but I'm glad I've got Zumba tonight...or I'd hit the wine.
Over- welcome!
Not- boot camp sounds like hell!!
Have I missed anyone out?
I've had a good eating day again. I've also bought some chia seeds to go with my overnight oats...anyone know how much I should put in?

Lolimax · 20/09/2016 17:24

Oh and for anyone who wants to join me on MFP I'm rachel141269
(not giving away much there, am I?)

Sugarandsalt · 20/09/2016 17:58

Not2b I think we all look forward to hearing how boot camp went!

Dawhead you are very kind. Cooking is a hobby of mine as you may have guessed. It's a clue to how I ended up almost 16stone!

Sesame congratulations!! Under 10stone is my eventual goal! I know how you feel about clothes, I'm just wearing the same 5 things over and over. And have lots of too big clothes that don't do anything for confidence do they! I have 2 bras which fit though, I am an F cup so really need supportive ones.

Loli I think we share a birthday (different years though!). If I've cracked your code! Re chia seeds I do 10g with 20-25g oats, they expand and soak up lots of liquid and are quite filling.

Hopefully · 20/09/2016 18:04

I am so over calories today it's ridiculous (over 2,000, and about to go to a social event where I will inevitably be offered cake. Argh). Have again stuck to healthy food though, so am not upset if I maintain/gain tomorrow. I think I have entered PMT hunger of doom, so if I can keep it healthy and maintain/limit the gain, I'll be content.

Hopefully · 20/09/2016 18:07

Sesame yay that's amazing! I am DETERMINED to get to 10st in October (3lb. I can do that, right?!).

dawhead and loli sorry you've had bad days at work.

sesame I share your pain on the ill fitting underwear. I have ONE bra that fits, and one that makes me into a saggy blobby lady and is used only when the fitting one is in the wash.

Hi overtired, welcome aboard! Impressive, dieting with a 1yo. I only managed it intermittently when DC3 was one, but am finding it easier now she's 2.5z

Hopefully · 20/09/2016 18:08

Not sure what the random Z is doing there!

Not2bObvious · 20/09/2016 18:56

Well I survived...just😉 It was really good! Not as tough as the one I used to do which meant I was able to keep up with about 90%, when I did the other class it was more like 70%. He didn't go stupidly hard on us and it was only 45 minutes instead of 1 hour. I felt OK enough to do a walk after it for 40 minutes. Just had a long soak in the bath with a sneaky g&t, the tonic was medicinal for cramps, the gin was cause I'm a lush😁
over I tend not to eat back exercise calories as they are usually vastly overrated by mfp or Fitbit - I usually say if you're going to use them assume you only earned 50% of what you think you burned. Not sure where I am with mfp today, did snaffle brown bread with egg/chicken/cheese & Mayo when I got in. Feeling tired but glad I went, see how I feel in the morning - probably be mainlining nurofen for brekkie!

coragreta · 20/09/2016 20:00

Boot camp sounds great. Wish I could afford and be bothered to do something like that. I'll stick to running as it's free.
Had a long 3mile walk today and am now about to have tea. Finished the day at 1173 including a hot chocolate after tea. Yummy.
