I have only weighed on my home scales though, will weigh over gym tomorrow and hopefully will have lost a bit

Not2bObvious · 11/09/2016 14:51

Main thing to focus on made is no gain, it's very likely there's a loss hiding in there beneath bloat from pizza etc. if all your other days were good (sorry not sure with us all updating like mad what you've left to lose) Was today your official weekly weigh in or just a check in?
Ugg, feeling rougher as the hours go by, only just getting ready for shower & going out. Hair of the dog needed, sad but true. Slept for an hour but woken by dh roaring at preteen dd who is a terrible bad tempered brat at the best of times, although I'm pretty sure that we roar at her isn't helping the issue. Jeez, this parenting lark is a barrel of poo some days.

Sugarandsalt · 11/09/2016 14:59

Made I'm sure it's just bloat. I've been looking back through MFP records and it's constantly bobbing up and down/plateauing. Weigh again in a few days. I find sometimes it takes 2 weeks to see the effect of a good week too.

coragreta · 11/09/2016 15:42

Keep going everyone. It will all be worth it.
I built in allowance for a milkshake at the cinema. Ordered a regular and the women made a large. She said I'll only charge you for the regular like i was getting a treat! This thing is huge! Will have to up my run to later to make up.

madein1995 · 11/09/2016 16:26

Today was my official weekly weigh in, but I'm not sure if it's a remainder of the last few days or my ddgy scales or both, so I'm movng weigh in day to a Monday as I know the gym scales will tell the truth. I've got 8 stones to lose to get to a healthy weight, and it's so hard adjusting my thinking. My knee is slowly improving (can get on and off floor now) so am going to start going to aqua aerobic classes once a week I think, and am still doing the weights work - by stomach and arms ache but it's not a pain, just a bit of an aching. I've realised I was being perhaps overoptimistic putting my activity levels as lihtly active and have changed that to sedentary, it'll stay like that until I start going to classes on a regular basis and get a job I think.

Sugarandsalt · 11/09/2016 17:04

Made I started in January just under 16 stone, so 5.5 stone to lose to reach the top of my healthy range, and 6.5 to my ideal. I know how hard it can be to think of the mountain ahead, so I advise taking it it small chunks. I aimed for 7lbs a month for the first few months, and then 2-3lbs a month since. I'm now down 53lbs with only 1.5stones to reach a healthy BMI. The support on mumsnet has been amazing.

I went shopping after brunch (shakshuka with 1 small slice of sourdough). I found an amazing leather biker jacket which fits like a glove in a 12. I'm going to ask DH to get it for me for Christmas, maybe I'll even get into a 10 by then! Didn't have much luck with my winter coat- they all seem to be oversized and shapeless which does not suit me. I did get a new bra measurement though 28FF Shock! I'm pretty sure it will crack my ribs but my poor saggy boobs are definitely better supported in it. I don't think my back size will get any smaller but hopefully will drop a cupsize or 3.

Not2bObvious · 11/09/2016 17:59

That's a brilliant loss sugar. Can't believe your back size, that's tiny! What was it at 16 stone? Made good idea to move weigh in to Monday with a good scales, and great advice from sugar about breaking down the weight losses, it's daunting to look at the big picture, passport photo size only😉
Feeling closer to human after feed & 🍷Well stuffed now. I popped into shops and bought a cute jumpsuit in a 10 but I don't think it'll fit nicely until I drop another stone, thinking of it as my xmas day outfit, quite glam looking. Can't bring it back so I'll have to get my bum in gear! Early night planned, oh can't wait to feel back to normal

Sugarandsalt · 11/09/2016 18:24

My back was always narrow enough, I was a 34G at my biggest. I have narrow shoulders but massive hips, bum and thighs. Years ago I went on an 8week trip around India, dropped from 9.5 to 8.5 stone, then got quite ill with gallstones and dropped down to under 8stone (I'm 5ft5). Size 8 tops were loose, but I know I barely squeezed into size 10 trousers at the time. I'd like to be an easy 10 on top, and an easy 12 on bottom(10in skirts) and I know that's around 9.5stone for me.

Not2b I think when you are lighter you notice a bigger change in clothes from a few lbs, you'll probably be comfortable in 5-7lbs. Did you like the winter clothes? For the first time in 3 years I'm excited about my winter wardrobe!

Fitterbysixty · 11/09/2016 18:31

Madein1995 I'm also considering aquafit because of dodgy knees, although they are a lot less dodgy now I've lost 2 stone. This week I got as far as dredging the wardrobe for swimming costumes and trying one on. It was not a pretty sight, I've lost some of the weight from my upper thighs and they are all wobbly. I am tempted to go to the third nearest pool in the hope that I won't bump into anyone I know but I'm also now thinking more about activities where I get to keep my clothes on.

sugarandsalt I haven't looked beyond a target of being overweight rather than obese. I thought that was a big enough target to start with. I set myself little targets within that because it's important for me to see that I'm making progress and I need the boost of a win against my weekly target (1.5lb a week now, I think there's only been one week when I haven't hit it)

I started taking care of my knees mid May, I've lost two stone and dropped two dress sizes. I keep trying things on from the dusty side of the wardrobe, why on earth did I keep that pair of ratty old jeans that are only fit for painting in? I tried them on, they fitted and then out they went.

Lolimax · 11/09/2016 19:02

Evening all. (Does anyone else have a Dickson of Dock Green moment when they say that? Or are you all far too young???)
I'm away with DH down our caravan for the week. The bad news is NO SCALES so I can't religiously weigh myself every morning. The good news is there's a small pool on site so I can swim half an hour every day, walk the dogs and be active. DH is also very supportive (ignoring the fact he just offered me a glass of wine).
I measured myself this morning it appears my chest/bust has gone from 40" to 36". I'll pop into an M&S to get that checked out but that's quite a difference.
I've had a good day so far, well under calories and walked over 6kms.
Does anyone who has lost weight struggle with what they actually look like now? I know I do.

Not2bObvious · 11/09/2016 19:47

There's definitely some nice bits out there Sugar but I'm cautious to invest as I really want to be closer to goal - I need to let go of 80% of my wardrobe! For now I'm going to experiment with accessories, might need hopes professional advice is she's feeling generous😉 The jumpsuit looks really good on, but another 7-10lbs will make it amazing, I'm earmarking it for my xmas party with sparkly stilettos.
Fitter don't you worry a tad about the swimsuit, it's seconds from changing room to pool, nobody in that setting cares, be proud of yourself for making the effort. Your body is amazing, feck what anyone thinks.
Loli I've been 11.2-11.6 for months now and I started to see this in the same light as I saw 13.7! But today when I put on my lovely smaller sized jeans and tried on my jumpsuit, I gave myself a metaphoric pat on my back - I'm getting there and I think we all need to do that. We're making a decent effort to shift the weight that's dragged us down. Kudos to us all😘

Sugarandsalt · 11/09/2016 19:49

Fitter my first big target was to be overweight too, my BMI was 37 starting. It's now just under 29. I'm now setting each target as another point down on the bmi scale.

Loli I've never heard of Dickson but I grew up without BBC etc. 4 inches lost is amazing! Can I suggest you check out the new method of measuring- you'll see it on bra intervention thread in style and beauty- I feel so much better supported in a well fitting bra. I really struggle with what I look like, I still feel very much plus sized. I'm fairly lost when it comes to shopping as I'm not a strIght up and down/Apple shape which is what everything seems designed for, and sizing is so random I never even know what to try. I'm going to treat myself to a personal shopper if I ever reach target and hopefully get a nice capsule wardrobe. Have a lovely trip!

Hopefully · 11/09/2016 19:57

I am really enjoying being excited about my clothes again too, rather than in the 'does it disguise the flab?' mindset. Although some investment items definitely need to wait until I'm another 5-7lb lighter as they are (a) expensive and (b) fitted.

Back from weekend away and will frankly be happy if I've maintained. Am expecting to have a temporary bloat again, but am firmly aiming to get down another actual pound to 10st 3 over the net 10 days before the evil PMT bloat starts again, otherwise I'll only have lost one solitary pound in the last month! Am happy(ish) with 2lb a month, but 1lb is just taking the piss. Would be even happier to get down another pound or two on top of that, but I'm not holding my breath.

Sugarandsalt · 11/09/2016 19:59

Not I'm in dire need of workwear. I'm managing now as its warm and I'm just wearing summer dresses with a blazer but need some things to get me through the winter. Some cheapish things with the hope I'll be at target next winter. I saw these shoes and I think I love them! They of course don't have a size 36 in stock so I've ordered them to try. I have a tiny frame, I think my proper target should be a BMI of about 20.

Hopefully · 11/09/2016 19:59

lolimax have a lovely time away! I hate going away without scales. I have the most amazing ability to kid myself about my calorie intake and the daily weigh in keeps me at least semi in reality.

FearsomeNasalHairs · 11/09/2016 22:14

Evening everyone, sorry to have been awol it's been a very quiet weekend, so been able to stick with in calories which is good, but have done loads of family stuff so no real time to look at the thread.
I've never really posted on a thread before, please forgive me if my posts seem very me me me.. I'm struggling to remember everyone's names and what they've been doing to quote. Is there an easy way to do this? I feel like I need to make notes before I post!

What I did remember reading is that there have been lots of losses, and made has managed to maintain weight even with dominoes Star
Seems like lots of people are on holidays, hope you all have a lovely time. I am also very envious of not and lolli and everyone else with exercise routines and also the ability to get up early for yoga. Sorry if I've missed anyone, it's not intentional Blush

As for me, I have been steadily losing now I'm using the wiifit, weighed in today at 13.6 that's 4lb this week!!! Also puts my bmi form obese to overweight. I am thrilled Smile
I do know everyweek won't be like this, but I'm not complaining for now.

Sugarandsalt · 11/09/2016 22:27

Fear don't worry about mentioning everyone, the thread is so active now! 4lbs is amazing, congratulations!!!!! And moving from obese to overweight has reduced your risk of heart disease, stroke, cancer, dementia, type 2 diabetes and joint disease so congratulation on hopefully adding some years to your life expectancy too!!

I think I came in just 30cals over at 1340, but had to estimate my brunch out so who knows. I walked 13000 steps pottering around shops/getting bus and tube so hopefully that helps too. Onwards and downwards...

Bathsheba3 · 11/09/2016 22:54

Evening all. Busy day, so just having a good read of everyone's losses & willpower. Everyone are doing so well which is so motivational!

I'm over today Confused but to the tune of 300 cals. Someone upset me, so I reached for food. But it wasn't chocolate or wine. 2 slices rye bread with butter. Prob won't need any carbs tomorrow.

Lots of positive vibes from everyone - hurray !!! Lets keep it up!

madein1995 · 11/09/2016 23:02

Everyone seems to be doing really well, well done Smile. Finishing today at 1192 and I've burned off 142 calories through doing weighted sit ups, and I'm not going to eat or drink anything bar water between now and when I weigh in the morning to try and make it a true reading. I woke up too late to have breakfast, but lunch was batchelors packet pasta and cheese, tea was a slimming world ready meal thing and some boiled rice, and supper was 30g cornflakes and semi skimmed milk. I've been drinking tea, squash and pepsi max through the day.

Tomorrow I'm going to the leisure centre and swimming, so I'll eat my banana and orange juice in the cafe bit after weighing. I'll have an early lunch when I get back of cheesy beans on a slice of toast. I'll prob have ryvita and ham for an afternoon snack as tea won't be til late. Tea for me and mam is pasta carbonara with a bit of ham, for dad as he hates cheese I'll make tomato pasta with ham. I'll make homemade garlic bread too, if I go to plan and don't eat anything 'treaty' during the day I'll allow myself a slice of garlic bread too. A day off weights tomorrow I think - my legs and arms are a bit achy, not pain as such but I don't want to push my body too far so I'll probably still do my 50 sit ups (with breaks in between each set of 10 lol) but without the weights. May also take the dog on an afternoon walk, give her a chance to terrorise the local squirrels and try and eat rabbit poo Grin

SesameSparkle · 11/09/2016 23:39

I'm enjoying all the updates today. I wanted to add my perspective on body shape following my loss. I was actually very comfortable at my previous 'low' from 2 years back. I was 11st3 at my lowest, 10lb off a healthy bmi, but a size 14 and able to buy some nice things I felt good in. I also felt a 'normal' size, rather than feeling fat or slim or whatever. That's why despite having still been technically overweight, I was happy to choose 11st3 as my target weight for my recent loss.

Things have changed a bit for me now I've gone past my initial target. I'm now 10st2, I'm within the healthy bmi range, and a size 12. My body shape has changed a lot from before, as I've lost a lot more from my waist with that extra stone, so there's a lot more fashionable stuff I can get into now - I don't need to wear apple shaped brands like fat face and I can ditch the empire line too. I'm much happier trying on stuff and buying clothes. Underneath the clothes I'm less happy. Because I've lost in the region of 5st, my body shows the after effects. I have loose skin/fat on my inner thighs, belly and upper arms. Also a lot has come off my boobs, which makes them look a bit 'empty' looking, even in a bra. Sad So despite the weight loss, I'm still never going to feel confident in a swimsuit and I'm not going to rush out and buy a bikini. I don't think there's a lot I can do about it either, as even if I tried to tone up, there would still be the problem of loose skin. And it's all not really severe enough for surgery - which is not something I'm actively considering right now.

Hopefully · 12/09/2016 04:44

Sesame I know exactly what you mean - even though I haven't had absolutely loads to lose this time, I have yoyo'd within a 2 stone range over the years, and all the gaining and losing has left me with far saggier boobs and thighs than I would have otherwise. I have had to come to terms with the fact that actually no matter what I lose and how much exercise I do I will never have a really amazing body, but learning to dress myself well and make the most of what I do have has helped me accept and appreciate the body I have.

Fearsome well done on the amazing loss!

My aims of maintaining after the weekend away were wildly optimistic. Up about 1.5lb this morning. Am very sure that it is 90% bloat though, and hoping to be back down below 10st 4lb by Wednesday. Feeling motivated to get down to 10st 3lb as soon as possible despite this temporary setback, back onto the 1,200 wagon today.

Not2bObvious · 12/09/2016 06:29

Loads of lovely updates to start the day, I love checking in & seeing everyone's news.Fear 4lb is really really good, well done you.Made sounds like you've a very busy/active day ahead, they're the best days for calories I've found - the focus isn't so much on food. Hope I think you did very well only seeing 1.5 up after a weekend away & it's very likely just bloat anyway. Off to weight in myself, no doubt my Chinese and wine over the weekend will show up in a lot more than 1.5! Wails from the scales coming soon folks😉

Sugarandsalt · 12/09/2016 06:57

Bath we can't get the calories perfect every day. I've been looking at my weekly average and aiming to get that about right.

Made well done on all the exercise. It will all pay off.

Sesame and Hope I do worry about how I will look whenever I do get to target. My boobs are already very saggy and have lost all fullness on top, but that may have happened anyway after breastfeeding for 2 years. I can also see that I'm less an hourglass and more a pear when not in the obese range, whereas at my pre weight gain standard of 10ish stone I was fairly balanced above and below.

Hope I'm sure it's mostly bloat.

I'm back up the 1/4lb I lost yesterday. Feeling really bloated. About 10 days until period is due (although they've gone a bit haywire since I stopped breastfeeding so we will see!).

Not2b hope the scales don't upset you. It will only be temporary bloat anyway.

Callmesausage · 12/09/2016 07:25

First weigh in this morning, down 8lbs!!!!!! Very pleased about that, I was 19 2 and now 18 8.

Mini goal is to get under 18 and will try to do that by end September.

Have a good day/week all

Not2bObvious · 12/09/2016 07:33

I was wondering how you were getting on call, that is absolutely brilliant. Bye bye 19 stone😉 I'm sure you can get into the 17's for October. How's you dh getting on?
Lots of bloat showing on my scales, 3.8lb to be exact. It's usually gone after a couple of days except after a shocking weekend when I go up maybe 6lb, then I'm on a maintenance week. 4 days to get under 11.3.6 (11.7.4 this morning) No walk or run this morning, instead I prepared 2 dinners to get a start on the week. I'm not ready for it to be Monday...sob
