fear hang in there!

made Weetabix is definitely a better snack than subway – well done! Halo

Yay hopefully!

loli amazing loss! Star

sugarm and sugarand nice work!

sugarand the biggest challenge with me for clothes was with every loss I’ve had to relearn what works with my shape. A few pounds can make a huge difference. E.g. I seem to have a waist emerging after years of being an apple, which means my trusty empire line style doesn't really work for me anymore and I’ve had to buy some belts to get that nipped in look. Also I’ve previously chosen jackets/coats with a collar to create a bit more space around my neck and shoulders – but now I’m slimming in that area and my boobs have disappeared the higher neckline actually suits me better now.

not just reading about your morning routine makes me exhausted, wow!

Dorothy - some good advice here. At the do if there are lots of little dishes/tapas/buffet, I’d recommend getting a plate and filling it with a visually ‘normal portion’ amount of food and sitting down to eat it. Don’t go back for seconds and try not to eat all the extra bits and pieces on offer like bread etc (unless that’s part of your plateful). You could do the same with pudding – i.e. chose 1 thing/one portion only instead of a little taste of everything. Add a couple of glasses of fizz and I shouldn’t think the damage would be too bad.

Still on 10st3 this morning . Following the chat on here, I had eggs for breakfast this morning. I can’t believe how full I am after that.

Not2bObvious · 08/09/2016 11:31

Thankfully not every morning is as hectic! I didn't get time for breakfast & foolishly thought I'll skip it but now I wish I'd brought an egg or 2 with me. I'll ride it out, only an hour til lunch.

coragreta · 08/09/2016 12:59

Some amazing losses. This thread keeps me so motivated. Just had lunch and not even eaten all the bread I logged. So I had smoothie for breakfast (and a cheeky latte). Soup and half a bread roll for lunch and cornflake chicken with beans and veg for tea. Plus a banana and a special k bar for a post work out snack. Comes in at exactly 1200. Hoping to see a loss on the scales tomorrow.

madein1995 · 08/09/2016 13:28

Sugar well done that's awesome! Dorothy, enjoy your holiday!

I signed up for an aqua gym induction this mornin and while I was over there, I weighed my self and it says I am a pound lighter. I'm pleased with that considering the week isn't over yet, I've eaten some treats and not been very active, also I'd eaten breakfast before weighing. That's given me some motivation now. Breakfast was a banana some ff yogurt and some milk (trying to up my calcium intake) lunch will be at 2 as have another evening class and trying to eat later and will be homemade chips (made out of potato in the oven with bit of low cal spray), barbeque chicken - chicken breast, peppers, mushrooms, courgette, a bareque sauce, and salad. There is fresh baguette in the house so will proably have a small slice of that (because it's so fresh I won't have butter though) I'm planning on having 2 ryvita and ham at 5 o clock before the class, and then beans on toast when I get in around half 9. If I stick to plan I should eat 1178 calories today, I will check in later again though

Wallywobbles · 08/09/2016 14:11

The new girls watching a display of cheerleading with interest Smile. Great distraction technique b

So cute Wally! Was craving fast food for lunch, comprised with a packet of crisps with my sambo (only 240 cal sandwich)
Bored now, nothing to do but Google pics of where I'm going on holidays in 4.5 weeks, roll on October (but with me slimmer by then pls god!)

Bathsheba3 · 08/09/2016 14:26

Wow wally !! Bet you do well on your daily steps having all of that to be looking after!

I'm sitting in my office. Won't post a picture - too messy. But having a good day. Power walk this morning for an hour, and so far very lean clean eating. Almost gave in to a glass of vino last night (I made kedgeree with cod - yum) - but stuck to slimline tonic. Just. I so miss it in the evening, but so enjoy waking up feeling fresh.

Positive vibes to everyone, with more losses to come v soon for us all

HoppityFrogs · 08/09/2016 16:41

Can I join you? I've just started on a diet with exercise this week, I'm swimming 5 times a week and have lost 4lbs this week. I'm using MFP.

Lolimax · 08/09/2016 16:43

Welcome Hoppity!

EmilyDickinson · 08/09/2016 17:39

Welcome Hoppity. 4 lb in a week! Congratulations.

Bathsheba well done on resisting the wine. I find that soooo hard!

Sugarandsalt · 08/09/2016 17:40

Welcome Hoppity! 4 lbs in a week is amazing, my weight loss has slowed massively of late. Well I had some itsu sushi for lunch which was only 200cals so I'm treating myself to some dates after dinner. Will come in at 1350. I think I probably need to think of reducing my calories now, thinking of a few weeks of 5:2. I'll decide after the weekend. My new job is more sedentary and while I've put myself down as inactive I wonder if it's affecting me.

FearsomeNasalHairs · 08/09/2016 18:27

Welcome hop 4lbs is an unbelievable start well done! I am very jealous. Smile

I had a look earlier at the mfp forums as I wanted to see if there was anyone there taking the same medication for thyroid issues as me (turns out they slow your metabolic rate right down!) I found this flow chart that I found very interesting so I thought I'd share it here as well. Sorry if it's not relevant to everyone Smile

Pushed post too soon, that should have said sorry if it's not relevant or been shared before

Hopefully · 08/09/2016 18:37

Hello hoppity! Well done on the initial loss.

wally lovely ponies!

Kitchen closed at an unimpressive-but-not-dire 1,650, but it's more like 1,450 if I include exercise cals, so hoping I will at least stay the same on the scales tomorrow. Was planning on going for a walk this evening to burn some extra after having a scoop of ice cream with the DCs but forgot that DH is going out, humph.

Sugarandsalt · 08/09/2016 18:42

Fearsome there's a lot of misinformation online about thyroid medications and thyroid disease. If you have concerns you should speak with your GP or endocrinologist about your dose etc.

FearsomeNasalHairs · 08/09/2016 18:51

Hi sugar I know it's so frustrating. I've got an appointment end of month so i will check then with the consultant, that's the only advice I am looking for really, I just wanted to see if there were any real life examples of people taking these tablets losing weight.

Sugarandsalt · 08/09/2016 18:58

I have seen lots of people taking medication for both hyper and hypothyroidism lose weightSmile. The most important thing is that you are on the right dose, and it's important to bear in mind that it might be a slower weight loss, and that the effects thyroid disease has on appetite unfortunately lags behind the medications effect on metabolism. So MFP is actually a really good idea in your situation!

Lolimax · 08/09/2016 20:49

O.M.G. Tomorrow Mathew I'll be walking like John Wayne.
I've just done my first Spin Bike Class. Halfway through I actually thought I was going to vomit, except I couldn't get off the damned bike as my legs had turned to jelly. I finished the class and might (might) go back for more, assuming I can walk into the office tomorrow without looking like I've done 65 positions of the Karma Sutra overnight.
My mantra is 'this must be good for me'.

Sugarandsalt · 08/09/2016 21:22

Haha Loli spinning is so hard! I did it years ago, maybe I should take it up again given my constant running injuries!

I'm stuffed after dinner, so didn't have the dates. Came in at 1210 cals.

madein1995 · 08/09/2016 21:43

Finishing tonight on 1188 calories - substituted the ryvita and ham for a galaxy ripple but other than that have stuck to plan. Am now drinking a cup of tea. Plan for tomorrow is scrambled egg on toast for breakfast, soup and maybe a slice of bread for lunch followed by banana, and chicken stir fry for tea. I tend to drink tea and squash throughout the day, and am saving my calories tomorrow for 2 glasses of wine and either some crisps or a few biscuits (will have both considering it's Friday). I plan to cut down the 'treats' gradually and not have them every day - but atm having just 1 thing a day - as in 1 kit kat or a bag of crisps or 2 biscuits - is progress down from having 3 or 4 'treaty' things, and the problem with me is once I think I'm being deprived I crave it more. So I think sticking to 1 thing a day for now will work, provided I keep to under my calories.

Not2bObvious · 08/09/2016 21:44

Oh crikey loli, you're in for it in the morning - hope you have painkillers handy. I was away for work a couple of years ago & ventured to the hotel gym, saw spinning was on & decided to give it a go. I've had 2 children the normal route (iykwim) and both a decent size, and my lady area was more painful after spinning for 3 days. In a heap. Never ever again. Sorry for the tmi, but let this be a warning to anyone even thinking of this! And don't get me started on trampolining...
Days done with 1355 eaten & nigh on 14,000 steps. I've given it my best shot, mean old scales better agree in the morning😡

coragreta · 08/09/2016 21:50

Spinning sounds like torture.

SesameSparkle · 08/09/2016 21:50

wally aw, what a lovely pair of ponies!

hoppity welcome

fear interesting flowchart, thanks

loli wow you are hard add nails girl - well done!

made that sounds like a sensible way to wean off the treats

not fingers crossed the numbers go your way

Kitchen closed chez sesame, just one calorie under! Went late night shopping instead of exercising which means my step count reached 15,000 today. I also bought a tight stretchy pencil skirt out of zara. I'm really pleased cos I've never been able to shop in zara my whole life cos their European sizes are cut far too wee. And I got into one of their 'M's! Grin

Not2bObvious · 08/09/2016 22:19

Woohoo sesame! Zara are mean pigs with their material so you're obviously trimming down nicely. Funny I was just thinking about clothes, reading a thread on S&B about where to shop at 40'ish (me not you!) and lamenting the lack of any clothes that excite me. Lots of folk recommended second hand/charity shop but in Ireland it's pretty rubbish. If you can stomach the smell, paying rrp for a Primark (Penneys here) would send me over the edge. Although I have located an interesting designer "gently worn" shop which might be worth a look. I want a stunning goal dress for a xmas party in exactly 3 months. I will be at goal by then... I feckin will she prays to scale God

Sugarandsalt · 08/09/2016 22:24

Well done Sesame! I got into some Zara trousers recently and was beyond delighted! They are indeed stingy with material!

Not2be I think penneys is better than primark- or at least the shop layout is better than my nearest primark. And you have Dunnes which I strangely miss terribly here!
