I'm a demon for "treats" but try to remind myself a) am not a dog and b) excess treats is what earned me my jelly belly & chunky thighs

^yes, this!

I also ended up over thanks to a mint magnum, not massively over but do feels but crap for not being able to resist. An apple just wasn't cutting it

Sugarandsalt · 05/09/2016 20:11

Sugarmonster magnums are much smaller than they used to be at least!

Not2bObvious · 05/09/2016 20:18

I've had a very good day calorie'wise but it's only just after 8 so I shouldn't get too smug. Had my dinner of a whole meal chicken sandwich at 4 (didn't fancy anything much) did pick a bit at the kids pasta bake but all in all very little taken in today. Maybe a vlc'day will recoup some of the damage I did over the weekend namely the sneaky chipper supper But I've been v cranky, so I'm pretty sure I won't be repeating the low cals tomorrow!

madein1995 · 05/09/2016 20:38

Ivd had quite a good day , under the mfp calorie goal but over the 1200 I aim for, never mind though. I'm snacking on some m and ms but not many because some sod has eaten them (kids self that father is trying to help weight loss rather than just eating my chocolate) so that's good I suppose

Callmesausage · 05/09/2016 20:43

Good first day, coming in at 1051 calories, if I get pecking later I'll try and stick to a yoghurt or some cereal.

Lolimax · 05/09/2016 20:51

I've had a good day but struggled in Latino Fit (think Zumba on speed). Under 1200 calories so shower and bed with a herbal tea. Cruelty was watching DS (18, 6ft and like a lathe) tucking into a jacket with fried bacon, loads of butter and half a pound of cheese. One day he too will be middle-aged lol!

Hopefully · 05/09/2016 21:38

I think the best thing that can be said for today is that at least it was logged Blush. Made apple crumble for the DCs and just couldn't resist. Came in at a cool 1,950 calories (if we pretend all my exercise calories count, it ends up around 1,750). Annoyingly the guilt and sugar slump were so bad that I can't even pretend it was worth it! Back on it tomorrow.

EmilyDickinson · 05/09/2016 22:57

Logged 1,213 here which I'm pleased with as today included coffee (and cake!) with friends and Jamie's 15 minute spiced chicken with lentils (yum). Managed partly by not having lunch and having a very small helping of cake equivalent in calories to my normal lunch plus afternoon snack. And partly by not having wine this evening and drinking mint tea relentlessly all afternoon. I also went for a longish walk.

SesameSparkle · 05/09/2016 23:15

Everyone's totals today all look pretty good to me.

I've just finished a very late dinner and today's total was 1707 - basically a 40cal plate of melon for pudding over my target, but all still in the right direction I think.

Callmesausage · 05/09/2016 23:20

Mine went up slightly ending at 1199. Pleased with that, first day down, only several more hundred to go!

Hope everyone has a good day tomorrow.

FearsomeNasalHairs · 06/09/2016 00:02

Wow this thread moves fast!
Sounds like everyone's had some good results, too many to remember to comment on separately sorry.

Ended today here at 1233 calories couldn't resist the last Jaffa cake so technically I've borrowed 33 from my exercise, today is the first day in a week I've gone over 1200

I've looked today at my bmr and completely confused myself.. I got a result of 1620 calories per day, I'm not entirely sure what that means though, so I will investigate tomorrow a bit more.

coragreta · 06/09/2016 04:22

Bmr is basically how many calories you burn each day. To lose weight you want to be in a calorie deficit. So eat less than your bmr.

Hopefully · 06/09/2016 04:42

A whole pound up this morning, harsh punishment for crumble-gate! And I feel all bloaty and bleurgh. Renewed determination for today.

Well done to everyone who finished on slightly more impressive numbers than I did yesterday!

Not2bObvious · 06/09/2016 04:44

Bmr - base metabolic rate, what you burn if you're in a coma
Tdee - total daily energy expended, what you actually burn on a normal average day depending on your activity levels. My bmr is 1400'ish, my tdee when classing myself as sedentary is 1600-1700

Most people's bmr's will be higher than the 1200 cals recommended for 1-2lb a week weightloss on mfp. Hope that helps?
Scales back to 11.5.4, hurrah for maintaining over the weekend. Not I have 3 days to shift a pound or 2 before I fight the next one. Can't sleep, going cuckoo

Not2bObvious · 06/09/2016 04:52

Grr - just lost my post!!! Can't sleep so already feeling tired & cranky (gosh it's just an all round pity party at mine)
Fear hope this helps:
Bmr- base metabolic rate, the amount of calories you'd burn if you were in a coma. Your numbers quite high, lucky thing! Mines 1400

Tdee - total daily energy expended, what you actually burn calculated on your measurements & activity level. Mine is 1600 at sedentary

Scales back to 11.5.4 - hurrah, clean slate. Boo, don't feel capable of running today but will aim to be vv active, lots of walking.
Hope, that's crumble tummy. Be gone in tomorrow, chin up, you're doing great. Now copying & pasting this message before posting as I will flip if I lose another one

Not2bObvious · 06/09/2016 04:53

Feck sake! It wasn't lost, just lost in the Internet ether

Lolimax · 06/09/2016 05:40

Morning Not. How do you work out your individual Tdee and Bmr scores?

dorothymichaels · 06/09/2016 06:23

Room for another one? In the last year I've needed to take the car to work rather than walk or bike, and I'm doing a PhD so I spend a lot of time at my desk. I was already overweight but now tipping the scales at 92kg. No one tell me how much that is in stones, I suspect well over 14stone! Summer holiday was a low point when a full length mirror in the holiday cottage and too many too tight summer clothes made me weep in despair. I also have a dodgy knee which I know is because I'm carrying too much weight. I come from a family of overweight women (and men) and I'm really keen to try and keep things in check.

I do have issues with overeating, especially when stressed (doing a PhD is stressful!) and have found Gillian Riley books very helpful. I'm trying to tell myself that I have a choice regarding anything I eat. I choose to eat better because I have an eye on a long term goal of being healthier.

So yesterdays mfp says:

Breakfast: homemade peanut granola with low fat yoghurt and about half a banana.
Lunch: roasted meditteranean veg from Tesco (from frozen aisle, they are fab) with 50g wholemeal pasta, balsamic vinegar and some feta.
Dinner: homemade chicken and sweet potato korma with cauliflower rice.
Snacks: a babble, half a scotch pancake with jam with the kids, and a lidl kitkat thing with tea at night.

That came in at 1418 calories. I managed 10000 steps on fitbit.

Today's plan is bacon and egg with beans for breakfast, same pasta for lunch and sausage casserole from slow cooker for dinner.

dorothymichaels · 06/09/2016 06:24

a babble?!! A babybel!

Not2bObvious · 06/09/2016 07:13

Loli, there are online calculators. Mine was done by a dietitian where I used to work using one of those fancy scales which runs a current or something through you. Gave me a terrifyingly high metabolic age. Freaked me out for ages didn't scare me into losing the weight though
Welcome dorothy, if you're happy to work in kgs then stick with that, I'm tempted myself except I can't make sense of kgs at all, like I think in miles never km's except for 5k, that I get😉 Sounds like you started good yesterday, I read a Gillian Riley book, very interesting and good techniques. Just woke after eventually getting back to sleep, shoot me now😥

Bathsheba3 · 06/09/2016 08:05

Morning everyone. Official weigh-in day for me. 12 7, so a whole round 2lbs down from last week. I guess it's proof that MFP does exactly what it says.

Am still feeling bloated & generally bleuh though. Maybe my body is still adjusting to low carbs, no sugar, no alcohol, and increased fluid.

Food planned for today:
B - 1 poached egg on 1 slice rye bread, & spinach
L - huge salad with smoked salmon
D - chicken with loads of veg, spoonful of rice (brown, red, & wild mix)
S - tea, coffee. May treat myself to a juicy nectarine today!

Exercise - ran 3.5 miles yesterday as well as normal dog walks & general running around. So will just do a longer dog walk today - a good hour.

Great to see such a busy thread! Hopefully - apple crumble bloat shouldn't be around for long Wink. Not2be - can't believe you were awake so early. Glad you got back to sleep though.

EmilyDickinson · 06/09/2016 08:25

I have lost 1/2 lb I think, though it's very difficult to tell with my rubbish scales. Getting close to my target weight (I only had to lose 3-4lb holiday weight after losing a stone and a half earlier this year). I'm glad I'm getting it under control again, but am conscious that despite being close to my target weight again I feel flabby and unfit, so once I get the weight under control getting fitter needs to be my next aim.

Callmesausage · 06/09/2016 08:51

Well done Emily and Bath, great results. Hi Dorothy, your food yesterday sounds lovely, good luck with your weight loss journey. Not2be, insomnia really sucks, any way you can have s sleep in the day?

Hopefully · 06/09/2016 09:41

Emily I am the most toned I've been in a couple of years, and I'm sure I look better than I have at the same weight previously. I exercise partly for vanity, and partly (this is so sad) because I like being able to climb stuff with the DCs when we go to parks. I have no idea why I like doing this! I am generally very staid and non-silly, but climbing frames call to me.

Off to a virtuous staff with avocado and rice cakes today, and have homemade veggie burgers on the menu plan for tonight which should be fairly low cal. Really hope I can hold it together today and say goodbye to crumble tummy!
