I need to lose 3.5 stone - feel so fed up about it I am ignoring the mince pies and Thornton's chocolates! I have lost weight before with a great bunch of ladies on mn. I feel motivated to do the same again and this time keep it off, I went through my wardrobe and found a very stylish tunic I bought in the South of France that I wore once before gaining weight.

Whatever your approach - low carb, Weight Watchers, Slimmers World or healthy eating, all welcome to join me with motivational tips/chat to keep each other going. I find that I don't stick to any plan and eating at meals times/snack on veg and fruit/exercise works for me.

Look forward to chatting with whoever wants to join Smile

Hi all,

A 1lb loss here for me so I am happy with that, along with a cm or two around the body. A pretty lazy day today as was out drinking cocktails last night Blush which also accounts for the even slower start to the day than i usually have on a sunday. Oops! Headache receeding now though.....

Looks like an ok week for most this week, Pistey those vibrant young women in the house might be the jumpstart you need? And a warm hello to Babyand, I am also intruiged to learn what your unithing is (sorry its back one page and i cant remember!) - it certainly looks like its given you a good start.

I hope the gymnastic went well and we have all enjoyed mothers day - it was a half hearted effort here, but DD may shine yet when she finishes work. Having said that I dont really buy into it much myself, but i did get brownie points from MIL as her flowers were possibly the best bouquest she'd ever had. Thank you M and S!!

Pistey how are you? still running? Im not.... yet. We had a move since we last 'met' which brought a full time job and studying for a degree at the same time. I live in the suburbs now and dislike running here, so it dwindled. a series of lousy managers and misery at work led to comfort eating and brought me back here as popping for an update is helpful. But I do my finals this june and we have a move in august which should take me to a more rural location again so things are starting to look up.

How is life for you?

Happy Monday to you all Smile

No work for me today as my dd is feeling sick - keeps happening, at Christmas and on her Birthday, she is in bed looking pale. She won a bronze medal at gymnastics for the vault and floor work (imagine one handed cartwheels - eek!). I'm off out for a run in a bit and planning on...day 2 of the Shred level 2.

Jelli full time job and studying for degree, very full on, I am impressed. Horrible having bad managers at work, I am very lucky my manager is lovely and colleagues also. It's just the job that's naff!

If you move anywhere near me, I'll go running with you!

gettingtrimmer It's frustrating isn't it because I am so close to my goal weight but its going at a snails pace. Angry The grammar school thing is silly! I am not from a grammar area myself thankfully, so never had to deal with crazy parents getting hysterial if I didn't get in. Grin The shred DOES get easier I promise! I did it for months and it got too easy so that I am now onto cardio on gym which I do ten minutes on a high level stepper and 40 minutes walking fast on a 15% incline plus 20 minutes HIIT on the bike. I have to use a barbell now for sqauats to, body is defintely firmer.

Piste Welcome back! I also keep losing my mojo!

GBBO Yes I think you are right. I notice when i REALLY stick to it with the meats more greens etc the weight comes off slightly faster.

Welcome babyand

Well done on your loss to jellibelli

I'm ok, still sts, had a mad weekend of food and cocktails at the Bohemia in Brighton (bloody fantastic!) My new sofas got delivered today as well so I am a happy bunny, we've waited since 27th december for them!

Morning!

This kinda sums up my experience of being invaded by rowers...

So polite and friendly and organised! Mind you some of them are combining a very full on sport with medicine, architecture degrees etc, to be honest I admire them all for their dedication!

Don't give up MABS, lots of us experience a plateau now and again. Push on through and the weight loss will come. I've sts again but have had to ditch the baggy trousers because they barely stay up now so changes are happening. Stick with it.

Morning Pistey, very appreciative of the Brew was up at 3.15am, had to get ds to school at 4am for his battlefields trip to France/Belgium - dh took him but I got woken by alarm anyway. Difficulty dropping back off to sleep.

Very tidy rows of shoes from 8 rowers, how did they do?

MABS we were saying earlier, it's slower when you have a stone to lose, keep going and stay with us.

Downstairs Sofas sound comfy Smile major hangover after cocktails?

A pint of strong coffee for me in intervals during the day Brew Brew

Don't leave mabs! We all have had the sts thing happen. I've only lost 4lbs since starting!

piste I never really got on with cross trainers, I feel really un-natural on them but they are always popular at my gym, would say as popular as the treadmills!

gettingtrimmer Hope you sleep tonight after all the coffee Grin Didn't get a hangover (very lucky) but then I did drink plenty of soft drinks in the day to. Sofas are lovely and comfy, the old ones were all sunken in bloody kids jumping on them

I'm ok though, no wi for me this week, just working on maintaining to get this weekend over with (things planned) so am doing the gym 5 days this week rather than 3 to try work off some calories.

Can I join you all please?
Today I started Slim and Save which is a vlcd. It's a bit of an extreme diet, but I feel it is needed to reset my relationship with food.
I am currently just in a healthy BMI range. I am not overweight. In fact I am quite slim in most places but I have a very big mummy tummy.

I don't need to lose too much but I need to gain back my confidence and my self esteem.

Currently a right grump because I am stressed and what do I normally do when I'm stressed? Comfort eat!
So I am currently struggling with not doing that :/

GettinTrimmer · 11/03/2016 07:52

Hi eclecticFox welcome to the thread Smile I know what you mean about comfort eating, but also anything that throws me out of my routine such as school holidays can be challenging. How long are you planning on vlcd?

I weighed in this morning, unfortunately yet another sts again for me - so this week I am not going to have Friday night eating too much, and stick to fruit and veg between meals and up the exercise. Yesterday, feeling knackered I ate fajitas, bread (including bread and oven chips at tea time Blush) contributing to a sts, I am probably weighed down with wheaty things.

I have just done Davina Fit in 15 Cardio and can't face 30 Day Shred in the morning Shock. Keep going everyone, getting some perspective and not feeling so disappointed about sts as I am taking into account I've lost 15lb and in a way I'm on phase 2 and need to look at what I'm doing again.

How is everyone doing?

Morning, welcome Fox Brew

The rowers did well actually, its a mad race, the senior GB eight won obviously, but the Scottish crews did themselves proud!

I am rebooting, have started using MFP again, so am getting back on track. Need to get back in the habit of going to the gym, but it has been so difficult to find the time.

My cross trainer will be missing me Sad

Morning Pistey Brew

You and me both rebooting. glad to hear the Scottish rowers did well, sporting success all round, my dd scored the winning goal in netball.

I signed up for GetFitWithDavina but can't get into the website this morning because it didn't recognise my password (there is a free 4 week trial, that's why I joined!) - briefly saw some more good recipes such as chick pea and tomato salad that I'm having for lunch.

I'm off for a slow jog in a bit, going to do a longer one, no way I can do Jillian with dc and dh around.

Hi All!

Gained a lb this week, but I am ok with it. I am a daily weigher so I know it just bobbles up and down anyway and as DD was home for a couple of nights and I found a pizza place that does vegan pizzas i thought i would treat her, and had a full fat, full carb one myself. Hey ho.

BUT also, as you may know, i am a tape measurer and despite the scales saying "fat pizza eater" this week, the tape measure says 1cm off bust, 2cm off waist and 1cm off hips this week so I am happy and shows the importance of the tape measure and the scales. So for those that are interested I am MFP everyday and keep to my 1200 cals and my carb limits (apart from stray pizza nights Blush) and have Jillianed almost everyday (she says I can have the odd dy off on 6W6P) since 1 Feb. Total weight loss =2lbs, cms from bust = 5.5, cms from waist = 6.5 from hips= 4.5cm. Grin

So MABS stick with it and buy a tape measure!!

Trimmer unfortunately highly unlikey to moving near you, but I would've run with you too Grin

Faire well done on your lb.

Jelli you've inspired me to get measuring - may be a daft question, but does it make a difference what time of day you measure? First thing in the morning when I weigh in, it's less than later in the day, so wondered if the same principle applies with the tape measure! Do you measure every week/two weeks/month? I measured this morning, and would like to start a spreadsheet. I am sure I've dropped some inches since starting in January.

Pistey how is your reboot going? Are your rowers all back safe and sound?

GBB and Error hope you are OK, also Bringonsummer Blondes and anybody else who would still like to be with us Smile

I was reading an old Jillian Michaels webchat last year and she said she has weeks where she falls off the wagon with food....so we all do it, even Jillian!

Not much to report from me, I have couple of friends coming over this evening for book club, I used to guzzle crisps - will try have fizzy water and carrot sticks!

Jellibelli · 14/03/2016 17:10

Yey Trimmer !! I think it helps to see the tape measure change when the scales don't. Its all very well clothes getting looser but i need something more tangible than that....

I weight in first thing each morning (after a wee, sorry if TMI Blush) as I have also noticed that's my lightest Grin. I work Tuesday to Saturday so I usually exercise on a Sunday morning so I do my measure-in on a Sunday after exercise. I have read that your cells can 'puff up' during/after exercise so probably measuring before would be better but i am not in the habit. I am too impatient to measure once a month so I do it weekly. Every other week might be a good compromise. I also have a spreadsheet.....

I have also finally been out on the bike, although having waited 2 months for DH to put the pedals on one fell off half way down a big hill. I figure he is trying to cash in on my life insurance 😆. But after he rescued me i did surprisingly well. Next week i shall be back on my 5:2's. No boozing is saving calories bur chocolate consumption has raised exponentially, this must be reviewed.
