I need to lose 3.5 stone - feel so fed up about it I am ignoring the mince pies and Thornton's chocolates! I have lost weight before with a great bunch of ladies on mn. I feel motivated to do the same again and this time keep it off, I went through my wardrobe and found a very stylish tunic I bought in the South of France that I wore once before gaining weight.

Whatever your approach - low carb, Weight Watchers, Slimmers World or healthy eating, all welcome to join me with motivational tips/chat to keep each other going. I find that I don't stick to any plan and eating at meals times/snack on veg and fruit/exercise works for me.

Look forward to chatting with whoever wants to join Smile

Bit quiet here this week! Hope everyone is OK. Kim, how is your DD? Hope you've managed to get some sleep and decent food since yesterday. Congrats on the loss!

Kim82 · 18/02/2016 21:50

Hi Error. Dd is fine now, thanks for asking. Her new antibiotics seem to be doing the trick and there has been no screaming today thankfully - it was horrific yesterday, she was crying for hours and was literally screaming in agony at a few points, the poor thing. She slept flat out for 13 hours last night, she must have been exhausted so that means I got a really good night's sleep too.

I managed to get myself down to Aldi this morning though so have plenty healthy food to munch on again so have been back on track today. Just hope I didn't do too much damage weight loss wise as I'm trying for a 2.5lb loss this week to her my 1.5 stone award. I doubt I'll get it though after the last 2 day's food.

I hope everyone else is having a good week as it has been quite quiet on this thread hasn't it?

GettinTrimmer · 19/02/2016 07:00

Not a good week, 2lb gain here. Went out for a curry last night. Also lunch at a friends house yesterday. Fed up today, but big portion of rice is to blame. And a jam doughnut. It is so easy to gain, a blip this week. Good luck to other Friday weighers, hopethe thread keeps going as it has been quiet this week.

Kim glad all OK now.

GBBO15 · 19/02/2016 08:15

0.7lb gain!

Oh well. I'm not entirely worried as af due so hopefully that's the cause. It's a good time to take stock and look at what I'm doing though and that's what I'll do this week.

Never mind Trimmer. There's always setbacks. Here's to a better week for us both.

Good luck to any other Friday weighers

Error404usernamenotfound · 19/02/2016 09:00

3.2lb loss here; not sure how I managed that!

Sorry about gains, Trimmer and GBBO; next week will be better. Personally, I'd rather have the odd week where I just enjoy some nice food with friends and don't think about the scales, as that's all part of a normal life, and you can always get back on with the healthy eating afterwards.

I'm sure the thread will pick up again when Pistey and MABS get back! Grin

LittleWoofDoesntDog · 19/02/2016 09:05

Well, I had a WI today, expecting to have lost as I felt slimmer this week for some reason - trousers felt looser at work; however I have STS! I am gutted, feel completely despondent now. I have however lost an inch off my waist which I guess is something. So maybe I can add that into the stats - waist now 28 inches Smile.
I have been eating so well this week, really cutting back, haven't had any fizzy drinks and been really good keeping away from the sweet stuff. I just need to pull myself up again and keep at it. Otherwise with the mood I am in now, I know I will just spend the weekend eating.
Massive congrats to error, that is a tremendous weight loss!!

GBBO15 · 19/02/2016 09:16

Congratulations Error, good work!

Littlewolf don't worry, losing an inch off your waist is a great achievement and much more important than numbers on the scales which depend on many factors.

LittleWoofDoesntDog · 19/02/2016 09:24

Thanks GBBO; I will take stock too and figure out where I am going wrong. I used to do the 30DS but need to get back on doing that. And I want to start doing the recipes in the Lean in 15 book too. Really want to hit a good target before my holiday in a few months!

STS is fine, it just means it will come off in a few days if you push on through. I know it's hard to stay motivated when that happens but it just delays the weight loss a little, that's all. The hard work will pay off LittleWoof, just keep at it, you're doing great Smile

Envy at your 28 inch waist too.

My work trousers are loose but not loose enough to go down a size yet so I'm a bit baggy at the moment Grin I don't want to buy new as I've already got clothes to slim back into. I've treated myself to a new haircut instead which will hopefully detract from the baggy bottom Grin

LittleWoofDoesntDog · 19/02/2016 11:04

Thanks for the motivation Fairenuff, I need a kick up the arse! I get this downhearted feeling and then decide to eat my weight in chocolate - which is obviously not going to help! I will try and stay on the wagon and hopefully it works out better next week and I lose some.
My waist might be 28in but I am extremely bottom heavy, my bum and thighs are massive. Got to get into the low carb mindframe as that is my weakness.
Congrats on all losses this week, and we will kick it again next week!

Fairenuff · 19/02/2016 11:19

When we lose weight, we lose fat and muscle. But when we gain weight we only gain fat (unless we gain through muscle building exercises).

That means that when we gain back weight that we have lost, all we are doing is replacing fat and muscle with just fat.

Also, as muscle is heavier than fat if we gain back weight through overeating, we are gaining back more fat than we started with, if you see what I mean.

This means that I could lose 10lb of fat and muscle and then, if I put it back on, I would gain 10lbs of fat. This is why yo-yo dieting doesn't work. Lose it and keep it off is the key.

So this is why I am always happy to sts and I just call it 'maintaining' Smile

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/02/2016 12:46

Sts but still not being 100% good

If I actually tried I might lose weight .,,,,,,

'Sighs'

Well done losers and commiserations to those who gained

GettinTrimmer · 20/02/2016 08:58

Morning all Smile

Blondes well done for sts, good to have you with us.
GBBO here's to a better week!
Error well done! Great loss.
Fairenuff great idea about treat of haircut, nonfood treats I like are candles and bubble bath

Some falling off wagon for me....takeaway last night, oh dear! I find half term etc very difficult with heaothy eating and haven't managed to do Shred. Really trying to get back in the zone. Planning on breakfast of porridge, lunch of egg salad, snack of handful of almonds and apple, dinner quorn 'meatballs' big salad & tomato sauce. And going for gentle run. Buying avocados today & doing Joe Wicks eggs baked in avocado tomorrow. I do not want this to be another failed attempt. I want to wear my summer clothes. And make long term adjustments.

Have a good day everyone Smile

GBBO15 · 20/02/2016 09:53

Morning Trimmer!

Sounds like a healthy days eating planned- I like to hear your meal plans as I'm veggie too. I've also decided to ditch WW entirely and move to a reduced processed carbs/increased fresh wholefoods type approach where I eat according to appetite and not counting points/calories etc. This is based on the Always Hungry Solution Book I read recently. Wish me luck!

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for the welcome. Ive not had a great week either but have STS but with doing Jillian daily and staying within my myfitnesspal limits (with the exception of Tuesday when I had a 30th (30th - how young?!Envy) birthday dinner to go to, and involved beer and other carbs Shock) I feel disappointed. I have just done weekly measurements and there are a few mm gone here and there. Humpf! I feel either the scales or tape measure should be offering more change, I feel a little despondant but will stick with it. I do have to acknowledge that a) my sleep hygiene has been appalling and b) I do feel so much more alive, clear and vibrant on the excercise/clean eating c) I need to drink more water. Does anyone have any links to water 'improving' metabolism type articles that i could read and motivate myself with please?

Wise words from Fairynuff upthread will keep me right Wink

I started this new push to improve on Monday 1st Feb as it seemed like the perfect day/date to start and have now completed levels 1 and 2 of 30 Day Shred. As I have just got up Shock (first day of my weekend) I am about to relive the horrors of level 3 for the first time.... I have kept some residual fitness that I didnt have the first time i got myself in order as I stay with Natalie all the time but it IS hard! Pondering on what to do next. I wont C25K yet as I still need to build fitness, maybe do Ripped in 30 then move to 6Week 6 Pack but i would have to get out of bed a bit earlier Hmm

Error404usernamenotfound · 21/02/2016 16:34

STS is good, Jelli! The way the body burns calories when you are changing your eating and exercise habits is more complex than a simple fewer calories + exercise = proportional loss of lbs, and there will always be plateaus. Also, you have barely a stone to lose, so weightloss will be slow week by week, but you're doing all the right things so you will get the benefits Smile

Error404usernamenotfound · 21/02/2016 16:35

Also, I'm very envious of the lie in you got this morning... Envy

Jellibelli · 21/02/2016 20:05

Yes, it was a whopper Error I was actually asleep until 10.44 then i lay there thinking about things for a bit then MIL rang (for an hour and a bit, i've not spoken to her for a couple of weeks) so it wasn't that bad, honest. DH is away with work and the DCs are away at university. So i didn't even feel guilty...

I'll also confess to reading my speadsheet properly now and since 6 Feb it seems that I have lost 4cm on bust, 2cm underbust, 4cm waist and 2cm hips so I am taking all the dissapointment back Grin result!!

GettinTrimmer · 21/02/2016 20:22

Just goes to show Jelli that the Shred really works. Have you been doing it every day? Brilliant cm loss. I'm back to it tomorrow, half term completely distracted me, will have to work out a way of carrying on regardless, but despite good intentions too knackered in the mornings to exercise before dc get up. I did 5 days of level 1.

I have bought myself a 'portion plate' it wasn't cheap, but I am finding it helpful - plate is divided up into 1/4 starchy food, 1/4 protein food and 1/2 as veg. Just had Sunday dinner and fewer roast spuds, not room for many!

GBBO Has the Lean in 15 book arrived yet? If so, what do you think? Your new plan sounds a good one.

happydollplease · 21/02/2016 22:07

I'd love to join. Stuck in a weight loss rut atm. Started last summer at 18st 10 and now I'm 14 st 13 and seem to have stopped (a week off work and a load of junk food hasn't helped I'm sure Grin)

Need some extra motivation, I've another 4st 13 to lose!

Jellibelli · 22/02/2016 13:22

Trimmer yes every morning before the day starts i have my appointment with Jillian. I know it will work because ive done it before :) i find it fairly easy to stick to the plan with myfitnesspal and Jillian, but i am home alone at the moment, it gets tricky when the gang are all back...

To try to inspire you once its done i am more energised all day than when I wasn't exercising - go on, commit to a week and see how you feel.... I have completed levels 1 and 2 doing it each day and now i need to finish level 3 which i should do on march 1st. Then i will be up 15 mins earlier to work through 6w6p, which will take me to mid April.

Happydoll thats fantastic, you should be please and proud of yourself!!! Grin just think back and remember how you felt before you started and how much better you feel about yourself now. Forget last week, its gone, finished. Dont beat yourself up about it, turns out youre fallible. Not to worry, back with the plan now, and the scales and looser clothing will be yours again. Keep going, you're good at this as you proved already Grin

GettinTrimmer · 22/02/2016 17:18

Ok Jelli I can do x4 days when I return home from short days at work at 2pm (I'm really not good at 6am!), then on my long day when I start at 9am, I can do it at 6am Shock just one day per week. I agree with you Jillian works. Do you have her Extreme Shed and Shred? I have a 3 pack of Ripped in 30, Killer buns and thighs and Extreme Shed and Shred. Not done them yet Blush I've had 30 Day Shred for years and never got past level 1.

Only problem is - my back aches after I've done Jillian, I paid attention to having my back straight during the exercises, I am wondering if when my weight reduces if it will sort itself out, just hauling round 2.5 extra stone while doing very intense exercises maybe strains it.

Happydoll welcome, stick with us and we'll get there. Very well done on your weight loss so far. I'm with you on the week off work, but onwards and upwards Smile How are you doing yours, a 'plan' or healthy eating?

Jellibelli · 22/02/2016 21:43

Trimmer yay!! You'll be pleased...

I own 30DS, RI30, 6W6P, NMTZ, BFBM, Yoga Meltdown and have done them all. I also own ES+S but i have never done it Blush i may tackle it after 6W6P... Looks like a mean workout Shock

I can't advise about your back, as i am lucky not to have a problem with mine (touch wood). Is it just a muscular ache from using unused muscles or is it something else do you think? The ache you get from doing exercise is your friend, its Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness and means youre growing muscles, which eat calories on exercise Grin
