Sorry if stepping on toes. But couldn't see another thread. Anybody want to join me? I guess the idea is that some weeks you loose a bit more and some weeks you gain but aiming for 1lb a week sounds good to me.

Can you I'm using zenlabs fitness couch to 10k but they also do a 5k one. You play your own music so my amazon music playlist works on it.

I did my first run tonight and it was really good.

BBQueen · 02/01/2016 19:05

I'm off for a run once the baby's asleep. Can't believe I'm looking forward to it! I use the Run Zombies C25K app, but have done it a few times now Blush so am interested in recommendations of other "story" type programmes.

canyou · 02/01/2016 23:21

Thank you Glen
Iam working a 12 hr shift tomorrow so as well as sorting dinner and tea for MIL to feed the DC I have made 3 meals for myself and DP 1000 calories for me 1500 for him. A bit low but it allows me a coffee and something else if I need it.
I am having raspberries, nat yoghurt and musli, a banana, leaf salad and veg with 2 oz of chicken and a portion of pasta and spicy sweet potato soup with a roll. The portions look huge but everything is weighed.
Exercise will start on monday.
I have also decided that the two late shifts I work will be my fast days. So breakfast and dinner/lunch at 4 pm and avoid the kitchen when I get home at 10pm Smile
And no more picking

sparrowfart · 03/01/2016 00:14

Hi I'd like to join too - need to shake off about 3-4 stone and want to do it slowly and sensibly on some kind of long-term 'stop eating shite when the children are in bed' diet. I know exactly why I'm overweight so hopefully I can do it, although I've lost and gained a few times in the last 5 years or so. I really need to occupy myself in the evenings and use my time better than just sat on the sofa watching TV and eating. I feel positive about this though. Grin

Breadandwine · 03/01/2016 00:55

Before any money is spent on slimming clubs and the like, have a look at a couple of 5:2 threads, right here on Mumsnet.

Here's the current thread - no 59 since they began back in August 2012. It's based on sound scientific research - and all the links to this are in the OP.

And here's a thread full of inspirational stories of how posters have successfully lost weight - and kept it off.

I myself lost 24lbs - without even trying - and I've maintained my current low weight for over three years now.

BTW, 5:2 is free - and may well even save you money!

Good luck everyone - whatever plan you're following ! Flowers

Fossie · 03/01/2016 16:36

Hoping to join you all. You seem a friendly bunch! I was hoping for a pound a week and I started at midnight New Year's Eve. Well I went to bed and stopped toasting in the year with wine. I am happy to weigh on Mondays though I will also do Friday's as New Year was a Friday and my holiday at Easter starts on Good Friday, 12 weeks later so I am hoping to lose 12 pounds by then at least. I need to lose over 3 stone to get back to a healthy BMI. Laying off the booze and accompanying snacking in the evening will be my best start.

BBQueen · 03/01/2016 18:56

Starting at midnight is truly admirable, Fossie. Was that pre-planned?

It's a nice thought that I might be almost a stone lighter by Easter (and a third of the way to my healthy BMI).

YakTriangle · 03/01/2016 19:04

I've started using MFP again (used to use it and then got lazy with it) because it seems to help me actually think about what I'm eating, having to write everything down stops me eating junk quite so much. I'm also trying to make water my main drink during the day instead of juice or coffee, which has cut today's calories down a lot.

TwentyOneGuns · 03/01/2016 19:19

I'm in for this - I lost 4 stone with WW a few years ago but most of it has crept back on :(. I was thinking of trying SW but I don't want repeat the cycle of doing well on a plan then messing up as soon as I come off it. I also really don't enjoy the groups, sitting round talking about food doesn't help me lose weight!

I need to learn to eat food that's good for me (not the processed crap the groups often promote - if I eat processed stuff I at least want it to taste nice!) in sensible portion sizes. Oh and get some regular exercise.

I'm going to give MFP a go and will think about 5:2 if that doesn't work as both seem a bit more balanced and sensible than most diet plans. I'll weigh in tomorrow morning and take it from there - good luck everyone :).

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 03/01/2016 19:24

I'm in. I'm far too fat. Will weigh myself tomorrow.

Plan is to try and exercise, try to stop snacking and eat healthy like a salad and chicken or fish for dinner most nights.

Donge13 · 03/01/2016 19:25

Will weigh myself in the morning, I'm excepting 13stShock

glentherednosedbattleostrich · 04/01/2016 06:58

Morning everyone. Today's weight is 186.2lb. 5 lb up on the same time last year.

So, low carb starts today properly. This morning I've had yogurt and blueberries and some tea.

Lunch will be sizzle steak with salad

Tea morrocan lamb stew.

Lots of water, a few nuts and pork scratchings if I need them.

Also doing day 2 of couch to 10k if I survive my first day back!!

Have a brilliant day every one :)

PandasRock · 04/01/2016 07:23

Morning Smile

Weigh in: 157.2lb. No idea what that is relative to last year, except it is definitely heavier!

I am doing reasonably well contains the evening munchies, but could do better with the random daytime nibbles.

Donge13 · 04/01/2016 07:28

Morning 12st 6lb

BBQueen · 04/01/2016 07:55

Morning all 214lb today.

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 04/01/2016 07:56

14st 1 1/4 lbs this morning. So would be great to be under 14 stone next week.

Just had breakfast. Cup of tea and belvita breakfast biscuits.....which I inow are sugary crap but they usually fill me up quite well and stop me snacking mid morning (fingers crossed)

Am off to walk the dog three miles shortly.

Howlongtillbedtime · 04/01/2016 07:57

Morning all , I am officially a lard arse . weighed in at 14.3 .

My first goal is to get to 12.8 which will be losing 10% .

Good luck to everyone starting today , I am going to go shopping today and stock up on the good stuff . I am also going trampolining with my youngest as its inset day so that should help get the lard wobbling Grin

fieldfare · 04/01/2016 07:58

Morning! Am going to join in but not post my actual weight now as it's hideous. I'm using mfp along with my Fitbit, and will do low GI 5:2. Dd is pescatarian so will be cutting most meat out too.
I've got my exercise routine down, combined with upping the walks the dog has I'll easily be doing my 10'000 steps a day.
I need to drink more water and less coffee so am planning on just one coffee a day in the morning and then herbal tea and a big bottle of water in the fridge so I can see how much I've drunk.

Oh and don't forget to measure yourselves too. Some weeks I'll find I've stayed the same weight but have lost inches.

Now to meal plan and plan my shopping list!

munchkinmaster · 04/01/2016 08:10

Can I join? 2 stone to go. I'm 11 something at the mo and would like to be 9. I had baby no 2 and have been stuck at this weight for a year (she is 16 months). I think I might do slimming world (again) as I looked on Pinterest at 1500 cal menus last week and realised me and mfp have been kidding ourselves.

I have started couch to 5k but have not made it out enough (twice a week rather than 3). It's tough though as dh works some nights so actually can't get out.

Right I can do this. Holiday getting booked for June. £5 a pound!

OurBlanche · 04/01/2016 08:16

OK, 14st 12lbs (208lb) is a scary weight.

Mini goal will be to hit Onederland - 199lbs by the 25th
First target to get to 13st something by Valentine's Day.

MFP has been reworked, tea designed, breakfast considered Smile

canyou · 04/01/2016 10:23

Ok I am 10.2 😮😢
I am shocked but it will be ok.
Everyone up and out to school today. Soup made and I had cereal for breakfast with tea. I am working a late shift so will have soup and a roll for lunch and a banana and herbal tea for evening break. That is 580 cals and will be my fast day.
This is good though as it has made mw think about the whole family so they are having salmon parcels with loads of veg in them and sweet potato chips. Mil can just bung in oven as all ready for her.
I have pork chops in freezer to use up any low cal dairy wheat free ideas would be great.

Greaterthanthesumoftheparts · 04/01/2016 15:50

Well i was 80.1 kg this morning, hoping to be in the 79s by next week. Today is a fast day for me and so far it's going ok, although I have been thinking about food constantly!

I have workshops at work on Thursday and Friday so need to be really well planned for that.

canyou we had pork chops last night with boiled potatoes carrots and Brussels. Was pretty nice, just made sure there was lots of seasoning! I was going to do a mushroom sauce but my mushrooms were mouldy Sad

flatmouse · 04/01/2016 16:07

Can i join? Have previously lost well on WW (with wonderful support on a thread on here) then over the years it has slowly crept back. Want to loose it now.

Today weigh-in 12st 11. My BMI is apparently overweight and i need to get weight down to max 11st 6. My first goal is 12st.

I'm still a WW member - they've changed their plan slightly lately, so i'm going to stick with that as it's lifestyle and it generally works (and yes, i get the irony of it being lifestyle and yet i've put 1.5 stone back on!).

I have just ordered a fitbit flex (to keep up with the rest of the family and plan on getting them to be a bit competitive once i have it!). Only exercise at moment is walking dog. C25K just doesn't work for me (i get so far and then hurt calf muscle). Plan on doing some pilates for toning/core strengthening.

Looking forward to being supportive and getting support! We can do this :)
(Salmon fillets for tea tonight).

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 04/01/2016 17:36

Today ive had.

Breakfast - breakfast biscuits and tea
Pear for a mid morning snack.

Lunch - cheese sandwich and a yoghurt.

Dinner - baked trout fillet with lemon juice. Spinach leave with light salad dressing. Yoghurt.

Ive walked over 12,000 steps according to fitbit. I reckon I did 5 miles walking the dog today.

winelady · 04/01/2016 18:24

Evening everyone, weighed myself this morning to find I am the heaviest I've ever been Shock have been good all day at work despite lots of Christmas goodies left lying around.
We can do this!
