Sorry if stepping on toes. But couldn't see another thread. Anybody want to join me? I guess the idea is that some weeks you loose a bit more and some weeks you gain but aiming for 1lb a week sounds good to me.

I'm feeling quite pleased that I managed to avoid my usual evening binge yesterday.

I manage to eat healthily all day, but don't stop snacking (and drinking beer) once the kids are in bed.

Last night, I went upstairs and did some sorting out and Pilates whilst listening to a podcast instead of slumping in front of the tv and I feel much better for it.

BBQueen · 02/01/2016 09:02

Nantucket - are you planning on a weekly weigh in on this thread?

NantucketNightbird · 02/01/2016 09:26

What day is best for everyone to weigh? Monday? I have woken up today really positive. I want to feel good plus I have a wardrobe of size 10s taunting me! What's on the menu for you all today? I've bought some of that powdered peanut butter, so I'm going to have soya milk with 2 spoons of that, banana and small spoon of oats lots of ice all in the blaster thing. Dinner probably lentil soup but stuck for tea.

I bought a scales but it's been a big mistake as I weigh on them every time I go for a wee! So I'm giving them away and going back to getting a weekly print out from boots that I can share with you all

Monday's perfect for me - I'm 15st 5lb right now and aiming to get to 11st 11lb.

I've just used the NHS BMI calculator and realised that if I lose 1lb, I move from the obese category to overweight, so that's a great incentive to get me started.

Deckthehallswithjammydodgers · 02/01/2016 11:06

I want to join in too I won't be starting til 12th as its my birthday next week and we are going away for a weekend and I totally plan on enjoying myself !

NantucketNightbird · 02/01/2016 11:14

What height are you BB? I'm only 5ft 2, to be a healthy BMI I need to weigh something like 8st which is ridiculous not very achievable. But at around 10st I think I look nice and can fit size 10 dresses (never wear trousers).

I am in but I am starting on Monday. 52lbs would be a great start for me. I am going to use the 5 2 diet as a guid. So excited for every lbs I lose I am going to treat myself i.e. a fascial or a massage something along those lines. Instead of oh I lost 2 lbs this week lets have a KFC type of treat.

glentherednosedbattleostrich · 02/01/2016 11:20

That's a good idea special. I think I might make a treat jar.

Monday is good for me. Trying to stop being a daily weigher.

PandasRock · 02/01/2016 12:04

That's a good idea re: reward.

I might put £5 into my Lego fund for each lb I lose. Then I can justify getting the huge creator sets I crave which my dc are too little for Grin

Howlongtillbedtime · 02/01/2016 14:06

I like the reward idea as well , I am going for a new piece of clothing for every half stone . I don't want to wait until I have lost the weight to try and look better . I am also going to get my hair cut this month ( I have been cutting it myself and it is looking rubbish ) and wear a little bit of make up every day . I am hoping if I look after myself more then I will care more about getting this weight gone once and for all .

Good luck everyone Smile

OurBlanche · 02/01/2016 14:12

OK, I'm in. I will weigh in on Monday with my starting weight.

I'll be back on a low GL 5:2 diet. It worked really well to get me at whatever weight I am currently at (about 2 stones lost during a really stressful year) and should be great to get me to a much more reasonable weight, maybe even into the normal weight range by the end of this year.

BBQueen · 02/01/2016 14:33

I'm nearly 6ft, Nantucket - I'll hopefully be all tall and willowy by the end of the year!

I love the idea of the treat jar. I will be putting £5 in for each lb and using the money for a really good coat next winter.

YakTriangle · 02/01/2016 15:38

I think I need to try this too please. I have stopped drinking Coke, my biggest bad habit. I also need to cut down on bread and crisps and general rubbish food. I have no idea what my starting weight is though so I need to get some scales.

abetterhairbrushisneeded · 02/01/2016 16:32

Lovely busy thread!

I think I'm only going to weigh in on a monthly basis as the scales are set to kgs and I won't see a shift enough to really inspire me, and also I'm guessing there will be some weeks when the shift is slower to take place and I would feel like giving up if I'd eaten well but not lost anything. So... Monday the 1st of Feb for me!

I logged into myfitnesspal and think it's going to be too much of a faff. I have a lovely empty "journal" type thing someone once gave me so I'm going to record my intake in that as well as my monthly weigh-ins and the 52 small changes thread ideas.

I'm so excited that I finally feel up to this.! Like some other posters have mentioned. I have been carrying this too long and I some lovely clothes in a size I would now in hindsight be happy with. At the time of course I thought I was too big so I actually think that what I'm aiming for is sustainable even though I would be thrilled to be a size smaller. So, I'm not aiming for my personal ideal weight but for a very realistic and healthy one... I hope!

SpendSpendSpend · 02/01/2016 16:40

Im in!

Im 15 stone 4 pound and 5ft 8. Size 18 sometimes a 20.

I feel disgusting, look disgusting and constantly feel a mess!

All my weight is mainly on my stomach and face.

Im aiming to lost 5 stone 7lb in 12 months which i think is about 1.5 pound a week which is more than doable.

I aim to do it by healthy eating, no snacks or rubbish. I pick alot at night so that needs to stop.

abetterhairbrushisneeded · 02/01/2016 17:03

Hi Spend, I wonder if it's easier or harder when you have something you know you can stop doing, like your nighttime snacking? I know I could cut out cappuccinos and wine but I would rather see if I have other options first! I've only just started keeping a food diary so it's not very reflective of my diet generally but am hoping to see a shift in the veg and protein versus pasta\breads etc. Also, unfortunately I love drinking milk. Although its semi skimmed I've learned I'm having 170 calories each glass. I'm shocked!

winelady · 02/01/2016 17:04

Hi, would love to join please. Need to lose at least 3 stone though could do with losing more 3 stone sounds more achievable as I did it once before.

Plan just healthier eating, more exercise and to stop my worse sin of all..picking between meals.
Already picked up a good idea from you all the great jar.

winelady · 02/01/2016 17:04

Oops treat jar

Donge13 · 02/01/2016 17:13

I'm in, desperate to shift some weight. Are we doing a weekly weigh in?

IAmNotDarling · 02/01/2016 17:22

Right I'm in 14st 3lbs at the moment and 5ft8. 52lbs in 52 weeks sounds achievable but I just don't know how to start - I've tried so many diets and fallen off the wagon but this year I have to do it.

Howlongtillbedtime · 02/01/2016 17:30

I think a lot of us have chosen Monday for the first weigh inDonge

Which means I am spending the weekend eating badly ........ Fool that I am........

SupSlick · 02/01/2016 17:36

Count me in!! I'm 5'6 & on Friday 18th December was 190 pounds (used to be 140 about 5 years ago but have developed a Fat Coke addiction plus I live next door to a Chinese takeaway Blush)

Over Christmas I managed to somehow lose 11 pounds but it's creeping back up already (gave in & scoffed two packs of After Eights - My downfall is obviously eating like I'm about to hibernate for winter.)

LET'S DO THIS!

Donge13 · 02/01/2016 17:54

Will finish the Christmas choccys tonight then how

canyou · 02/01/2016 18:06

May I join plse,
I cannot afford to join a slimming club and with shift work making meetings is impossible.
A pound a week sounds achievable,
I have started drinking water and herbal teas my treat is going to be a chai latte. I am also doing MFP. And I will eat 3 meals a day.
I have made soups to take to work, so far I have tomato and roasted pepper, sweet potato and chilli, veg and chicken and pea soup in portions.
Meal plannung should help and as I was off yesterday I bought, cooked and froze a load of fresh veg for easy dinners.
I am also if we survive this flooding starting c25k If some one could recommend a good download with music it would be great.
Maybe we could share meal plan and recipe ideas?

Greaterthanthesumoftheparts · 02/01/2016 18:06

I'm in as well. Was 81kg so way more than normal, would love to be 63kg/10 stone! I'll be using my fitness pal so if anyone else is then PM me and we can swap user names! I'll also weigh in on Mondays, should help to keep me in check over the weekend. We've been trying to conceive for nearly two years so hoping a few pounds off and a reduction in wine intake may help the cause!
