MFP to lose weight

Emz449 · 30/05/2015 18:31

Hello! I'm starting this thread to make myself accountable and as motivation. I've been using MFP for 16 days now and have lost 6lbs, really enjoying it and finding it so easy to use. I'll be posting weigh ins as and when as I am a frequent weigher! Hopefully the loses will continue Grin I started in Janaury as 14 stone 11lbs Shock but I've become complacent

Starting weight - 14 stone 11lbs
Current weight - 12 stone 5lbs
Goal weight - Currently 10 stone 11lbs but I think that I will aim lower once I reach that

On 1,450 a day with an active lifestyle. Would be great to see other peoples loses and experiences with MFP, annoyed I didn't start it sooner!

That's great Emz.

I've gone up today. Weekend-over indulgences, but also my digestive system seems to have packed-up. So I'll keep drinking loads of water & hope everything gets back to normal soon. (But I am still 7lbs down from where I was this time 2 weeks ago, so I'm pleased!)

Bathsheba3 · 15/06/2015 07:59

Go for it everyone - it's a monday. Stick to your guns / mfp calories! We can do it!

Emz449 · 15/06/2015 09:26

Half a stone is pretty good going so well done for that!

I feel really positive about everything at the moment so I'm going to stick to my calories and hope the scales move!

bathsheba3 half a stone is brilliant. don't worry about the weekend - it's only a couple of days, and I am sure you can get back on track.

Emz you have done amazingly well, has it been difficult to stick with it so long? Size 10 jeans!!

I had a roast dinner last night, but instead of three massive roast potatoes I only had one small one and lots of extra veg instead. I still enjoyed it, and managed to boost my vitamin intake at the same time. Still going the right way on the scales I hope, I will weigh in tomorrow.

Emz449 · 15/06/2015 11:04

Good luck for weigh in tomorrow Dogseggs I'm sure it'll be great

Thank you Smile I haven't actually found it too bad really, it's hard at times but it was something I wanted to do for a while so just found myself getting on with it. I originally gained most of the weight from moving in with my boyfriend, too many takeaways, rich meals and man sized portions. I lost the bulk within a couple of months which was good, through low carbing. Most of my weight gathers around my stomach so I suppose it shows more losing it from there? At least it does for me because I am quite short, definitely look less space hopper! Maintained for a few months because of various things like birthdays, holidays, social and work events but gave myself a boot and really want to get the last few stone off!

Having spent the first couple of hours of today in shock at the scales this morning, I have been researching a plan-of-attack and have decided that mfp might be the way forward for me.

A year ago I was 10st4.

This morning I was 11st6!

The only things that I am aware have changed during that time are that I have started running and that I have stopped breastfeeding.

I am shocked at how much weight I have put on in quite a short amount of time without even realising. But reading about your experiences of mfp on here are very encouraging and I'm hoping that I will be back to 10st(ish) before too long.

So...can I join?

Emz449 · 15/06/2015 13:35

Of course cheapanscheerful, welcome Smile

Thanks for positive vibes earlier Dogseggs - gratefully received. I need to knuckle down for next 2 weeks to stand a chance of seeing the 11s again. But I want to and need to.

Welcome cheap. Good luck. Don't beat yourself up too much about your weight gain - the important thing is you are taking action now, and not when you are 13 stone (which is very easily done btw!).

How's everyone else doing?

Bathsheba3 · 15/06/2015 19:24

Peacoat & Harry - doing OK? *Emz continues to show us how it is done! Star

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 15/06/2015 19:47

I'm doing OK. I have a headache, so I'm allowing myself a bit of sugar this evening (bowl of strawberries and banana). Might end up eating my exercise calories today...

JontyDoggle37 · 15/06/2015 21:08

Hello all, had a good two days although no more weight gone yet. My exercise is really ramping up now I'm five weeks post birth - 30 min dog walk each day, housework, muck out two horses, ride one and I started running again today too, so hopefully all of that will help.

Bathsheba3 · 15/06/2015 21:33

You sound like super mum Jonty! Wish I had all your energy - & my youngest DC is 10! Hope all is going well with baby. Don't forget to take time to relax too.

Hope you manage to clear your headache Harry.

Emz449 · 15/06/2015 21:54

Aw thanks Bathsheba not too sure about that though, just being extra good after my gigantic gain the other week! There are still two weeks until the end of June,
You can definitely do it

Hope you're feeling better Harry, have to say you're reaching for a far healthier sugar fix then I would

Jonty don't know how you do it all, as soon as I get home from work I'm shattered! Planning to join a gym in July though to starting toning up

Oh had my first fuller for longer meal and it was lovely! Looking forward to having them for the next few days Smile

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 15/06/2015 21:57

I had a 150 ml can of ginger ale too Blush and definitely used some exercise calories. However, I'm feeling much better nowSmile

cheapandcheerful · 16/06/2015 07:01

So my first day of mfp went quite well yesterday, although I got told off for not eating enough! I started the day yesterday intending to do 5:2 but couldn't hack it, hence the switch to mfp and hence coming in under 1,000cal for the day.
Planning on eating more today as I'm going out for a run this evening.
If I do exercise do I get to eat more then? I haven't quite worked out all the quirks of this yet...

flanjabelle · 16/06/2015 07:57

I'm still doing well on mfp. I went on holiday so didn't log for a week, but I have obviously learnt what to do as I actually lost a lb while away and have lost another two since I got back. Lost a total of 1 stone 13lbs now. Another stone and a bit to go!

Cheap and cheerful, I aim to eat Nfk half of my exercise calories as they are notoriously generous on mfp.

flanjabelle · 16/06/2015 07:59

Sorry I'm down to 10stone9 now, I started at 12stone8.

Dogseggs · 16/06/2015 07:59

morning all, just weighed in and have lost 1lb since Friday, so pleased. My stomach already feels and looks less bloated so it is doing me good I think.

cheapandcheerful hello! I couldn't manage the 5:2 either, it was giving me headaches and I was so bad tempered on the fast days. You can log all your exercise and it shows you how many calories you have used. The calories used up by exercise are taken off your daily limit, so yes, you can eat more if you want. I went for a swim last night and had a banana (instead of usual chocolate) when I came back as swimming always makes me really hungry afterwards.

emz thanks for the inspiration, it's great to read how well you are doing with it.

Hello to all the new people too, and good luck. I have been doing it for a few days now and I have already noticed a difference. I like the way it shows you what nutrients you have eaten, so you can tweak your diet to boost your vitamin and mineral intake.

Eliza22 · 16/06/2015 08:01

It's taken me two weeks to lose 2 lbs. Not that impressive on the scales but.... Because of the walking/running my shape looks like I've lost more. Definitely more toned so I'm generally pleased. Smile. Will keep at it. I've six weeks to my holiday. I need to try harder with the food (out at the weekend for family meal, I had half of what I'd normally eat but "diet food" it wasn't!!). Sometimes, even with the very best of intentions, real life events get in the way. I'll more realistically aim for 6 lbs down in those six weeks which will take me to under 11 stone. Should look and feel better about myself at that and then continue, after my hols.

Dogseggs · 16/06/2015 08:03

How was your day bathsheba?

Good going, flanja
I didn't realise that about the exercise allowance on mfp, I will bear that in mind!

Emz449 · 16/06/2015 10:48

I'm up by a lb today, 12 stone 4 Confused not really sure why as I have stuck to my calories and exercise, very annoying! Totm is due this week though so maybe it's down to that. So frustrating though!

OP posts:
Emz449 · 16/06/2015 10:51

Still got two weeks until the end of June to reach the 11's and I am determined to get there!

Hope everyone has a good day today Smile

JontyDoggle37 · 16/06/2015 12:17

Afternoon all and hello to everyone new!
1lb down today, which is great, and I added Shred into my fitness routine starting from this morning, I'll do it Tues and Thurs inbetween running on the other days. As I'm rebuilding muscle at the same time, the scales aren't going to show all I've lost, so I'm keeping careful track of my body measurements as well, as it helps me stay motivated if the scales aren't showing the difference! Doing pork loin chops with carrots, new potatoes and sugarsnap peas for dinner, all for 357 calories, perfect! (It's a small chop!)

Emz449 · 16/06/2015 17:33

flanjabelle your weight loss is great, I meant to ask how long it has taken you?

Well done jonty! It's definitely worth taking measurements when you're exercising as it can be disheartening relying on the scales to show all the effort you've put in
