MFP to lose weight

Emz449 · 30/05/2015 18:31

Hello! I'm starting this thread to make myself accountable and as motivation. I've been using MFP for 16 days now and have lost 6lbs, really enjoying it and finding it so easy to use. I'll be posting weigh ins as and when as I am a frequent weigher! Hopefully the loses will continue Grin I started in Janaury as 14 stone 11lbs Shock but I've become complacent

Starting weight - 14 stone 11lbs
Current weight - 12 stone 5lbs
Goal weight - Currently 10 stone 11lbs but I think that I will aim lower once I reach that

On 1,450 a day with an active lifestyle. Would be great to see other peoples loses and experiences with MFP, annoyed I didn't start it sooner!

Imust laughing at load at falling face first into passing cake!
I'm half a pound up this morning, but we went out for dinner last night and ate late, so this always happens (this is what makes me so glad I weig every day because now I know things like this and don't panic when I see a temporary gain). Hoping to maybe see a bit come off tomorrow at last, I only need to lose three pounds to hit my august taget, but that all has to happen this week before we go on hols!

Dogseggs · 10/08/2015 07:32

imust I know what you mean about good and bad weeks. Last month I was stuck on the same weight for about 7 days in a row, followed by a couple of days where I put on weight - very frustrating- but now I am having a good week: I have just weighed in and found I have lost a couple of pounds in the last week - 12st 4 now! Finally I can wear the nice summer trousers I bought last year without having to breathe in all the time.

jonty I have had quite a few days with sudden weight gains like that as well, no idea why. It always seems to even out within a day or two, but it's dispiriting at the time.

Just for the record:
starting weight in June was 12st 13,
current weight 12st 4,
target weight for end August: 12st 2, though I will aim for 12st if I keep having good weeks.

bath and jonty, have a lovely holiday!

Emz449 · 10/08/2015 18:39

Happy monday everyone, it's nearly over!

I had a serious case of snacking at work! My manager came back from holiday and brought me these lovely chocolates, so i ate 5 of them and gave the rest away before any extra damage occurred! Feeling a bit bad about it so i'm going to attempt kettlercise for the first time in months. Will let you know how it goes!

IMustEatMoreVeg · 10/08/2015 19:23

Jonty I weigh every day too. It sets me up for the day whatever the result: if I have lost then I feel motivated to continue doing well; if I have gained or stayed the same I know I need to be extra careful to turn it around. I know if I am heading for a big prolonged binge because I stop weighing myself for weeks.

JontyDoggle37 · 11/08/2015 08:16

Woop Woop! Another pound off this morning! Now down to 11st 8.75lbs! Only 1.75lbs to reach August target. And only five days to do it in! eeek!

Emz449 · 11/08/2015 09:32

Well done Jonty! I really hope you reach that goal!

Well kettlebells was exhausting, I did the 20 minute version as I wanted to ease myself in and I am aching today. I also had to go to bed at 9.40 last night I was that tired, I wouldn't normally go to bed until about 11, slept like a log!

Nice on plan day today, but tomorrow I have to work away for the evening so out for dinner, will make sensible choices though and make sure my friend does too as she's also dieting. I really want to stay on track until the weekend Smile

imustbepatient · 11/08/2015 21:56

Well done everyone, so motivating to hear all your successes. And well done Bath for finding all the positive thoughts to help get back on track again. That is the hardest thing to do, IME.

Well we have now moved into our new house and just love it, a real 'pinch ourselves is this really ours?!' kind of feeling. But I came down with the flu / cold the day after moving, which has slowed me down a bit. and sent me into the crisps and chocolate

Anyway, I found the scales today whilst unpacking, so tomorrow I will be brave and force myself onto them and see what damage the last couple of weeks have done. Then I will give myself a bit of a talking to, draw a line under it and press on with getting as close as I can to my target for August.

IMustEatMoreVeg · 12/08/2015 14:42

I must be patient - I think that is really good that you can draw a line and get on with good eating. I have definitely found that a big challenge before.

My news is that this morning I am 6lb down since August began. Really happy with that and ready to continue on in my quest. I still have a lot to lose to get to my first target (like, more than 20lb) but I feel like if I can break it down into 5 or 10lb chunks that feels achievable and not too mountain-like to climb.

Thinking of having some laser hair removal as a reward for losing the first chunk of weight. I need something that I wouldn't just buy usually, obviously not food or drink related, and I don't want to buy clothes and stuff because I am trying to live more minimally. Any thoughts?

Emz449 · 12/08/2015 21:06

Well done Imusteatmoreveg That's amazing, so happy for you. I think laser hair removal sounds like a great idea as a reward and is something I would personally love to have really!

Congrats on the move too Imustbepatient Smile

Well I've been away for work for work today and dinner tonight is not on plan, meatballs and patatas Bravas with an amazing chocolate pudding, I'm about 250 calories over my allowance which isn't great but it was amazing. I haven't weighed myself since Monday and I feel like I've lost weight, my face looks thinner, but will see on Friday what the score is after tonight's meal!

Hope everyone has had a good day Smile

Titsalinabumsquash · 13/08/2015 08:41

I'm staying the same everyday again at the moment, which is fine, I'm hoping in a few days it will start slowly going again if I keep up the healthy eating and sticking within calorie allowance.

Although I did a calorie calculator thing yesterday that said to lose a lb a week I need to eat 800 calls per day Shock which I'm assuming is rubbish. Grin

JontyDoggle37 · 13/08/2015 09:32

Titsalina agree it's rubbish. Might be worth trying a couple of different foods or doing some slightly different exercise, sometimes thT nudges you off a plateau.
I ate badly last night but had a migraine so excusing myself. No further losses here yet, but sticking rigidly to calorie allowance today, tomorrow and Saturday in the hopes of a bit more off by Sunday morning!

Titsalinabumsquash · 13/08/2015 12:09

I won't risk my milk supply so I'm ignoring it anyway Grin DD is a real guzzler!

I think I might try and have completely different foods for a week, I've been sticking to a very small selection of 'safe' foods.

Breakfast is tricky, I can't fit in making eggs or anything so I've been having yoghurt and fruit every day for breakfast.

Lunch has been salad and protein of some kind every day and dinner has been whatever I get delivered in my Gusto box, they always send something relatively balanced usually 500/600 kcal per meal.

Some breakfast suggestions would be helpful if anyone has any?

JontyDoggle37 · 13/08/2015 16:06

Wholewheat toast and peanut butter?
I find eggs really quick, just break two into a cup stir with fork for 30 secs, tip into hot frying pan, flip over 1 min later and cook for another 2 mins or so and done!
Otherwise oats milk and berries in a smoothie?

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 13/08/2015 18:25

Yay - I weighed myself this morning and my weight is now 9st 3.4lb, so I've definitely lost a little bit of weight (even if it isn't as much as 1lb yet).

Emz449 · 13/08/2015 21:02

Well done! Every little counts Smile

Work lunch today, had sandwiches which were nice but felt quite bloated after last night though, no chocolate/ cake though, I behaved myself! Back to basics after this weekend, protein and veg for dinners and soups for lunch!

I'm away in Brighton for three days from the 23rd with work and then flying to Scotland for a few days too at the end of the month... always seems to be something getting in the way!

Think my downfall is smacking really, my meals aren't high calorie but I'm definitely a grazer!

Emz449 · 13/08/2015 21:05

Oh my boyfriend was telling me the menu for food and drink at his party this weekend... Homemade pulled pork and hm minted lamb kebabs along with other m&s bbq things and they've bought loads of wine. Help me!!

OP posts:
imustbepatient · 13/08/2015 23:05

Emz can you try a small amount of the pulled pork etc (sounds so good!) and then fill your plate (and yourself) up with lots of green salad and vege. That way you get to have some of the tasty stuff to satisfy your taste buds / party feel, but limit the damage with all the salad and vege forming the bulk of your food.

If you find a way to limit the wine however, do let me know...

JontyDoggle37 · 14/08/2015 08:15

Harry well done!
Emz I'm laughing my head of at 'smacking' being your downfall!
Well, this morning I weighed in at...11st 7.5lbs!!!! So only 0.5lbs to lose before Sunday now, wooooooooo hoooooooo! I've been really pushing hard with the exercise this week, and staying around 1200-1350 calories per day too, so it's definitely working. Holiday goal is to not put on any weight, then in September think I could go for hitting 11st 0 by the end of the month. Which would make hitting final goal by end of November realistic (10st). Got it in my sights now! And my weight today means I am officially 2 stone down!

Emz449 · 14/08/2015 09:09

Ha autocorrect! Well done Jonty! That's great, I think you'll definitely reach your target by the time you go away. I probably won't post till after the weekend but I hope you have a great time!

I think I will do that Imustbepatient however good intentions may be scuppered at the sight of amazing food. Yes the wine might be difficult too, I haven't yet found a way to try and limit that!

Titsalinabumsquash · 14/08/2015 09:16

I had eggs this morning, microwaved in a mug with some ham and mushrooms Smile

Soup for lunch I think.

j200 · 14/08/2015 15:51

Oh enjoy Emz, sounds yum! Agree with trying to fill up on healthy stuff and maybe drinking water in between sips of wine?

Tits the mug egg sounds good!! Do you have to add water? How long do you microwave for?

Going out to zizzi tonight with the NCT girls, I feel so ashamed as am the only one that still looks pregnant Hmm Last weekends binge undid the progress I had made and I feel like I'm never going to lose weight as my willpower is terrible in the evenings when I'm hungry. Holiday next week and the hold in swimsuit is going to have to be worn again! I think I need my mouth stapled!! Sorry for the self indulgent moan, please send mojo my way!

JontyDoggle37 · 14/08/2015 18:32

j200 the rest of your NCT group are wearing Spanx and faking it. Guaranteed.

Titsalinabumsquash · 14/08/2015 18:42

I added a tiny splash of milk, microwaved for 2 minutes and then gave it a good stir. I like my eggs quite soft. Smile

IMustEatMoreVeg · 15/08/2015 08:02

Fruit and full fat yoghurt is my favourite breakfast. A whole bowlful is 250 calories. I completely made myself fed up of eggs when I was low carbing earlier this year. They are an excellent breakfast though!

JontyDoggle37 · 15/08/2015 08:16

No loss today although I ended up having about 300 calories more than planned last night so no surprise. Aiming for a completely on target day today as one last push!
