MFP to lose weight

Emz449 · 30/05/2015 18:31

Hello! I'm starting this thread to make myself accountable and as motivation. I've been using MFP for 16 days now and have lost 6lbs, really enjoying it and finding it so easy to use. I'll be posting weigh ins as and when as I am a frequent weigher! Hopefully the loses will continue Grin I started in Janaury as 14 stone 11lbs Shock but I've become complacent

Starting weight - 14 stone 11lbs
Current weight - 12 stone 5lbs
Goal weight - Currently 10 stone 11lbs but I think that I will aim lower once I reach that

On 1,450 a day with an active lifestyle. Would be great to see other peoples loses and experiences with MFP, annoyed I didn't start it sooner!

Sorry I've been absent I've had a wedding to help with and attend (not my own!)

I've gone dairy free to see if it help bf DD with her constant congestion and vomiting.

It seems to have kick started my loss and I've finally got out the 11 stone bracket and I'm now 10.12 Grin I'm very happy about this!

Emz449 · 04/08/2015 13:53

Looking forward to this challenge, will be tough but hoping for the best!

I'm staying at the friends house who is looking after my scales tomorrow night, so might jump on Thursday and see whats what with my weight, hopefully there's some sort of loss! I think we're planning on going out for dinner and the cinema though, healthy choices all round must be made!!

Hoping I can join your gang.

I used MFP a couple of years ago - abandoned it in favour of tunnocks teacakes instead.

Got a big work thing in four weeks (aaaaargh) and I really want to be fitter and a bit thinner. But, long term, my aim is to keep exercising and lose a pound a week for a year. Which would mean I'm four stones lighter this time next year. Which would be about right.

So, according to MFP I am 18lbs lighter than 2 years ago, - can't tell you how encouraging that is.

I'm running 10k once a week, cycling 10 miles once a week and swimming 100 lengths once a week. And walking lots. And, trying very, very hard to keep using MFP.

AMn't actually much lighter, but, my shape is changing. I'm trying to avoid the scales because they just make me eat, so am concentrating on non-scale-victories. But, I was 13.12 yesterday. So, lots to lose, my BMI's about 34.

By the end of August I'd like to be running 10k without feeling like I'm going to puke. And, I'd really like to be four pounds down, so, 13.7. More, if possible, but a pound a week is my aim.

Jonty great news Smile

Titsalina that's fab, breaking a stone barrier must feel great, well done!! I always thought my son might have a dairy intolerance but found it so hard to give up when bf

Emz, you can do it!! Actually good how many restaurants have healthy options, massive fan of pizza express here Smile

I'm feeling pretty awful today as think I've caught my sons virus, coupled with being awake from 4am. I will not succumb to my usual 4pm sugar binge though!!!
Planning thai spicy turkey mince for dinner with veg and konjac noodles if I'm super hungry, although at the moment just want to sleep not eat!

Hope everyone having a good day

Emz449 · 04/08/2015 20:47

i think we're going to chiquitos, has anyone heard of it?! i haven' and my friend can't believe it. the menu isn't too diet friendly but they have chicken skewers so I'm going to go for that i think! I've had a low calorie day today anyway at just over 1,000 so any splurge tomorrow night wouldn't be the worst thing.

Sigh welcome! All that exercise is making me tired just reading it!

Tits, congrats on breaking that stone barrier, i'm hoping to join you soonish!

Bath hope you're ok, haven't 'seen' you for a while

Emz the chicken skewers are good, and if you fancy a starter they do a lovely (but spicy) one of chorizo in lettuce leaves. If you look on their website they have full calorie values for all their menu options.
I am going to bed smug at having managed another 1200 calorie day. I really wanted wine tonight, it's been a tough day but reminded myself I wanted to lose weight more! Hoping that 0.75 of a pound left from the weekend might have gone in the morning...

Emz449 · 04/08/2015 22:19

Could you link me please Jonty? I tried to find it but I couldn't see it anywhere!

Emz449 · 04/08/2015 22:24

I was thinking of this too.... Marinated grilled chicken breast and slices of chorizo served with roasted vegetables and tortilla chips

imustbepatient · 04/08/2015 23:01

Mmm the food sounds lovely Emz, enjoy!

Siiigh I'm slowly (very key word here!) getting back into running again too. We are moving house at the moment and whilst packing I've just found the participation medals for all the runs i used to do including two half marathons, as well as some 10ks and various 5ks too.

Seems a life time ago as I now struggle to run more than 3 or so k! But I think I am gradually improving and hope one day to get back to comfortably running 10k too.

You have inspired me to keep it up as reading your post I just think yes, I really want to be back to how I felt and looked then!

I just need to get this house move done and then I will somehow make the time to ramp up the exercise again. Now I just need this feeling of motivation to stay around for a good long while!

SmillasSenseOfSnow · 05/08/2015 02:58

I am going to bed smug at having managed another 1200 calorie day.

Haha, can relate to the smugness so much. Grin

I've discovered the delights of steaming courgette and/or mushrooms in a plastic box in the microwave, with salt and pepper and garlic powder on top (and maybe some butter, most of which ends up getting lost in the water that runs into the bottom of the box so it's not too bad). Hardly any calories at all and really tasty.

JontyDoggle37 · 05/08/2015 07:56

Morning all.
August challenge:
Start weight: 11st12.5lbs
Goal weight: 11st7lbs
Today's weight: 11st 9.75lbs!!!
Yay all the weekend weight gone plus a little bit extra!

Titsalinabumsquash · 05/08/2015 07:57

Another lb down today, this not eating dairy seems to have its benefits 10st 11 now, I'm hoping to keep going steadily. Smile

JontyDoggle37 · 05/08/2015 09:15

Well done Titsalina! Just be careful you're getting enough calcium from somewhere, us Girls need to watch out for the evil osteoporosis!

siiiiiiiiigh · 05/08/2015 09:25

Imust - I hate running. Always hated it with a passion. I tried c25k, but, I object to being bossed about in any form, so, it didn't really agree with me "run! Run now! Keep running! Walk!" Ugh.

So, I just did lamp-posts - ran 3, walked one, 2.5k, x3/week. And, found that, actually, it was easy to fit in, only took half an hour, couldn't be late for it, didn't need to shave/bring kit/whatever.

Exercise is the key for me. I'm quite muscly, so, if I exercise I change shape really quickly. Whereas, thinking about food all the time messes with my head so I just want to eat food al the time.

MFP is genius.

imustbepatient · 05/08/2015 11:36

Well done Jonty and Titsalina!

Thanks siiigh for your post, that really helps to think of it like that! I always hated running too, even when young and relatively fit. I took it up many years ago at my heaviest (which I am now back to grr) and I think I took to it because I wanted to show myself I could do something no one expected me to be able to do. I can't say I ever enjoy hugely the actual running bit much. But I love the feeling I have at the end of the run! And how much fitter and more toned I feel when I manage to do it regularly. Running and WW helped me lose 3.5 stone about 10 years ago. Roll on v2 with MFP and running to lose it again well more like 4 stone for good.

And yes, it is so handy being able to fit a run in more quickly than eg going to the gym / a class / getting a dvd set up and equipment out etc. on a good week I am fitting in three runs but with all the chaos going on at the moment I haven't had many good weeks recently!

Thanks again for helping me start to get my running mojo back.

Emz449 · 05/08/2015 14:17

Well done Jonty and Tits, that's a great result Smile I had posted this earlier but doesn't seem to have come up!

Reading all this running chat makes me think I should really be getting back into exercise but my back is still sore, although it is getting a bit better, I can't wait for the day there's no more pain! I miss my kettlebells!

Decided to go for the chicken skewers tonight and have a side salad too. Looking forward to it! My friend has insisted that we will be having nachos to start with and who am I to argue Grin everything in moderation!

Will be good as gold after tonight until next Friday hopefully the scales are good to me on Saturday! Decided to change my weigh in to Saturday as I seem to lose on that day more - think it's the extra sleep! Nothing social planned after tonight until next weekend so there's nothing to sidetrack my diet, I will be hoping for a good result!

Hello all. Delurking to say hello. I am in awe of all your losses - esp well done Jonty & Emz.

The only smugness I have is on the running front - 4 miles at the weekend! Go me! And a good solid 30mins today, non stop, with DS pootling ahead on his bike.

Food sadly, is not going so well. I am STILL completely out of zone. I honestly daren't get on the scales. I am so disappointed with myself. Can't snap out of it either. But then again I am trying to fit work around kids, manage DD's issues, DH buried in work as always and I find it rather lonesome without adult company around as all my friends are on hols etc. So generally feeling rather sorry for myself. Boo hoo.

I almost feel like writing-off August, but I know I mustnt as I will undo all my hard work til now. Will do my best to hold tight on sugar and carbs, and hope to get back in zone come sept when school starts back, and I can get back into my routine. In the meantime, dog still needs walking, so least I can do is to wobble jog alongside.

Keep up the positivity everyone, & I'll do my best to stop being so damn depressed keep-up alongside Hmm

JontyDoggle37 · 06/08/2015 08:12

Bath don't give up, if you're running and being pretty good otherwise you'll probably get a lovely surprise when you get on the scales! Also, in my horsey life there's a saying "Ride the horse you have today" - to take it out into the general context "live the life you have today", so basically don't beat yourself up about what should be, just do the best you can with what you've got each day, which is exactly what you're doing.
No change for me on the scales today, guess it will be 2-3 days again before another drop, but I've meal planned for the day, so I'm all set for another 1200 target hit!
Have a good day all!

IMustEatMoreVeg · 06/08/2015 08:48

Hello, just checking in. Have lost 3lb since August started so well on track to lose my 5lb target for this month! May revise my target: is 10lb in a month too ambitious?

Bathsheba how about reading some weight loss threads about MFP? That sometimes gets me back in the zone. But I do know what you mean about being out of the zone. For me it is like a spell has broken!

Emz449 · 06/08/2015 09:31

I'm sorry to hear that Bath but I too think it's amazing you've been able to run 4 miles over the weekend, I doubt I could even reach half a mile! Maybe getting on those scales would be a good thing? Worst case it would be a few pounds on and could spur you into action, best is that you might have even lost some Smile

Meal was lovely last night! Had a few drinks too which really wasn't part of the plan, two cocktails and 2 wine glasses of prosecco. On a school night too! I had the chicken skewers with sweet potato fries and also nachos to share, it was great but I do feel bloated and heavy today and totm has come a week earlier so just feeling a bit urgh today. Looking forward to 5pm and getting home! Low carb day today.

Hope everyone is having a good day

Well done tits and imusteat!

Imusteat I think 10lbs sounds ambitious but given you have done so well I would up it if you feel confident- maybe 8lbs?

Sounds like you had a great night emz, hope the low carbing day is going well.

I weighed this morning and only lost a lb, I've gone over calories by 300ish last two days as got back into my evening dessert habit so need to get back in the zone as my body just does not seem to want to shift this fat!

Baths, there are still 3 weeks left, just think even if you lose 1-2lbs it still means you'll be thinner for September!

How's everyone getting on? I was 11 stone 8 this morning but I feel incredibly bloated and blocked up so I think once that passes it will be 11'6 again and hopefully lower! I'd like to aim for low 11's this time next week.

It will be another weekend on track for me this week. Nothing planned other then sorting out my boyfriends birthday present and doing some weekly shopping for lunches and dinners. Will be bulk making low carb meals on Sunday for the week, chicken sausages with hm carrot and swede mash, broccoli and cauliflower cheese and chicken salads, yummy!
