MFP to lose weight

Emz449 · 30/05/2015 18:31

Hello! I'm starting this thread to make myself accountable and as motivation. I've been using MFP for 16 days now and have lost 6lbs, really enjoying it and finding it so easy to use. I'll be posting weigh ins as and when as I am a frequent weigher! Hopefully the loses will continue Grin I started in Janaury as 14 stone 11lbs Shock but I've become complacent

Starting weight - 14 stone 11lbs
Current weight - 12 stone 5lbs
Goal weight - Currently 10 stone 11lbs but I think that I will aim lower once I reach that

On 1,450 a day with an active lifestyle. Would be great to see other peoples loses and experiences with MFP, annoyed I didn't start it sooner!

Star Emz starting weight 11 stone 6, hoping to get to 10 stone 11 by the 31st but would be happy with 10 st 13 Star

Great ladies, when we get a few more joining in I'll do a list, and obviously its no biggie deal if people don't lose what they want to, its just nice to have a goal and help each other along the way Smile

imustbepatient · 01/08/2015 20:53

Thanks very much Lees and emz!

I'm in for the challenge, I'm going to try for 8 pounds over August. Nothing ventured nothing gained etc. Or more appropriately for here - nothing lost!

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 01/08/2015 21:39

I'm in.

Star Harry's starting weight is 9st 4 - I'm hoping to get to a weight starting with an 8, so I'm aiming to loose 5lb or more Star

IMustEatMoreVeg · 02/08/2015 08:01

Please can I join? I have been doing MFP for nearly 2 weeks now and have lost just short of 3kg. I have another 13kg to go to get me to 11st which is my happy weight, though. I am hoping to be within shouting distance of this by Christmas.

I am on 1200 calories per day, although I do eat back any exercise calories so some days I get a bit more. I figure this is the best way to motivate me to move more!

Just going to RTFT now to catch up on what everyone is doing.

IMustEatMoreVeg · 02/08/2015 09:27

My starting weight today is 184lb. Hoping to lose 5lb in August so down to 179lb.

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 02/08/2015 10:34

Hi more veg - you have done brilliantly so far!!

I'm up for an August challenge. I've just weighed myself at 15st 13 (obviously started the week off well, then failed, grrrr! ). Would love to get down to 15st by the 31st but I think I need to be a bit more realistic, so .............

Star coldfeets starting weight is 1st 13. My goal is to get down to at least 15st 7 & to log all my calorie intake for at least 75% of the month Star

I have bought a book to start writing my calories down in. Looking back I have been most successful in losing weight when I have had a big fat diary and written down all food as I've eaten it.
Going to try a bit of meal planning this month as well, and try out our new slow cooker.

Emz449 · 02/08/2015 10:44

Well come Imusteatmoreveg! You've done great so far Smile

Well done everyone - doing so well. Esp Emz Wink. I could be where you are if I hadn't fallen off the wagon.... But you are a good motivator for me to get back on.

Star Bathsheba 11st 13 wants to loose 7 lbs to get to 11 st 6 Star

IMustEatMoreVeg · 02/08/2015 12:11

The rules I am trying to stick to are:

  1. No 'diet' foods like low fat cheese. I am convinced fat is okay and carbs are what make and keep me overweight.
  2. That said, carbs are not banned.
  3. Exercise portion control if at all possible
  4. Log everything in mfp even if it is a car crash of a day
  5. Weigh myself everyday.
  6. Restraint goes out of the window after alcohol so be aware!

I am very much an all or nothing person so diets where certain foods are avoided go well for me for a few weeks but after that I tend to go completely and utterly crashing off the rails.

IMustEatMoreVeg · 02/08/2015 12:20

Oh and 7. I do not log plain vegetables as calories - to encourage me to eat more!

  1. Don't eat fruit other than berries
SmillasSenseOfSnow · 02/08/2015 13:43

I do not log plain vegetables as calories - to encourage me to eat more!

Obviously whatever works for you, work for you - but I find that logging the vegetables lets me see how few calories there are in them, which encourages me to eat far more guilt-free, and replace more calorific items with them too! But that's just what I find effective.

j200 · 02/08/2015 14:04

Hi ladies please can I join you all too in the August challenge? I've found your thread really inspiring and I need to actually stick to something to lose this last baby weight and fit back into my clothes

Starting weight 9st 5
Goal by end August (and holiday!) 9st but would love to be in 8s
Ultimate pre preg goal 8st 7
Plan 1200/day MFP, walking everyday and exercise DVD a few times a week.
No excuses as I do not need to regularly eat family size bags of chocolate/whole tubs ice cream Shock

Emz449 · 02/08/2015 19:13

Welcome j200 Smile good luck with your weight loss!

I've actually had a really good weekend on or slightly under my calories, very happy! I will weigh myself tomorrow but then won't be able to weigh again until Friday, hopefully there will be a loss, planning to be extra good this week.

Welcome j200 , Harry and IMustEatMoreVeg I'm sure you'll all do great, I know this thread has helped me loads Smile
Great to see so many up for a challenge, I'll put the list up tomorrow but it won't be till later on because we're having a big day out!!! Unless someone else wants to compile a list if anyone has the time? I'm easy going about it and don't mind Smile

JontyDoggle37 · 03/08/2015 09:09

Morning all, thank you for the birthday wishes!
Well, the scales didn't agree that birthday calories are free and today shows an increase of 2.25 lbs! I think some of it is water retention though which always seems to happen if I eat bread. I love the list of rules Imusteatmoreveg, they're pretty much what I try to stick to. Back to logging every morsel today, and planning for really low days this week. For August I want to lose 5lbs by 16th when we go on hols and not have put any weight back on when we get back on 6th September!!!

Emz449 · 03/08/2015 11:07

Water retention will be gone in no time, I hope you enjoyed your birthday festivities Jonty Flowers

Scales stayed the same this morning and now no weighing until Friday, I've got some lower carb dinners planned for Tuesday to Friday - chicken and Mediterranean vegetable bake and have stockpiled porridge for breakfasts and berries for snacks. I was actually very sad last night and planned out my months worth of meals. I still have a load of meat to use up from my musclefood order which is great, so happy with it, I probably have enough meat for another 40 meals! Means I spend so much less too, probably about a tenner a week to get veg and fruit? A very good thing though as I'm saving for my trip to Peru and Bolivia in November!

j200 · 03/08/2015 21:33

We can do it ladies!!

Jonty best thing

Came in at 1224 but that's close enough for me

j200 · 03/08/2015 21:35

Sorry no idea what happened there!!

Meant to say jonty I find best thing for water retention is to eat celery, asparagus and drink nettle tea, can drop the carb lbs overnight

SmillasSenseOfSnow · 03/08/2015 23:34

Probably wasn't the best idea to start the August challenge off with all-you-can-eat sushi and some chocolate and walnut cake on Sunday... Blush Though maybe the start of the month was the best time for it - no progress to undo. Grin Back on the wagon now!

JontyDoggle37 · 04/08/2015 07:22

Morning all, weight back down to 11st 10.75 so only another 3/4 of a lb to clear from the weekend! I had a really good day yesterday and have planned well already for another one today. So determined to lose as much as I can before we go on holiday! Also I want to start thinking today about my eating plans while we're away - we're going away in our motorhome so most of the time I'll have total control over what I'm eating, but at the same time I want to be able to enjoy myself. I think I still need to track every day, but maybe aim for1400-1500 a day instead of 1200....has anyone else got helpful holiday strategies?
