MFP to lose weight

Emz449 · 30/05/2015 18:31

Hello! I'm starting this thread to make myself accountable and as motivation. I've been using MFP for 16 days now and have lost 6lbs, really enjoying it and finding it so easy to use. I'll be posting weigh ins as and when as I am a frequent weigher! Hopefully the loses will continue Grin I started in Janaury as 14 stone 11lbs Shock but I've become complacent

Starting weight - 14 stone 11lbs
Current weight - 12 stone 5lbs
Goal weight - Currently 10 stone 11lbs but I think that I will aim lower once I reach that

On 1,450 a day with an active lifestyle. Would be great to see other peoples loses and experiences with MFP, annoyed I didn't start it sooner!

Just read a few back pages and someone mentioned clothes sizes. It's blummin ridiculous.

I have dresses ranging from an 8 to an 18 that all fit depending on style and fabric ( jersey for the 8's and cotton for 18's)

Yet all the stores encourage us to buy on line. Why? I tend to buy to fit my hips and alter the top.

I bought a lovely summery dress yesterday with a flare in the skirt. I got a 14 which fit but because of the style I had a little gap at each armhole which just looks messy. Fortunately it was sleeveless so when I got home I got my machine out and put a dart at each side just above the bust . Then wore it an hour later feeling much nicer as it was a much better fit. Have you noticed how many clothes around ( especially in a material that stretches) just don't have bust darts.

I remember Janet Street Porter saying if you're buying from the high st buy a size larger and have it altered to fit ( well she can afford that) but I can see what she means.

I also did it the other way round. I bought a dress that I loved . Size 14, in the sale . Only one. Naturally. Anyway, it fit. I had no bust, it was completely flattened. So I cut down the back and inserted some stretch lace. After I'd made the cut I regretted it instantly but I had to press on or chuck it away.

Anyway I was very pleased with the result. I've had no professional training just picked up bits from my mum....and I'll only do the easy option.i won't unpick a zip for example. I hate doing zips!

Welcome Dowser! Good luck with your weight loss. A real my fitness pal coverted lady right here. I absolutely love it and I've logged in for 68 days in a row apparently! Weekends are my downfall as I often tend to go out with friends or my boyfriend, but after circling around the same irritating pounds I'm going to be changing that!
I've got a new goal to work towards, I've got 25 days to go until my boyfriends birthday so would love to drop as much as I can before then Smile

My friends borrowed my scales for the evening so no weigh in tomorrow but maybe on Thursday morning I'll be 11 stone 10 again!

Was awaiting your post cold - & hoping I could tell everyone about my yummy pan-fried salmon, broccoli, & coriander / spring onion couscous for dinner. Not helped as washed down by GnT (slimline). Don't think I've calculated my daily calories correctly again.

Fingers crossed for thursday Emz. YOU CAN DO IT.

Welcome Dowser. How are everyone else doing? I can't help but think no news is bad news ... I'm the first to 'fess-up to not sticking to it as rigidly as I did in June. I did go out for a jog this morning. I blame the dog though, for not burning up more calories. He doesn't like running. Half the time I have to stop & do silly star jumps or squats to wait for him to catch up!

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 21/07/2015 23:01

lol bath I have just been logging my food in MFP (I don't get home from work until 9:30pm). 1173 calories eaten today. Not the healthiest of calories though, and no exercise yet. Though to be fair I had an unexpected visitor before work!

It's fish and chip friday at work this week. But I have just input the calories for it into MFP (fishcake plus kids chips) so that I can still partake, but hopefully won't go over for the day. If I know I'll be having that at work I will eat very little before work, and won't take anything in with me.
I need to do this everyday I think - put the calories from my planned main meal in, so that I know what is left for the rest of the day.......hhhmmm......off to plan..................

SmillasSenseOfSnow · 22/07/2015 03:02

Today has been the first day since Thursday that I haven't eaten around 1750 kcals instead of the 1200 I'm supposed to be sticking to. Blush To be fair though I did feel like I was coming down with something after Saturday's semi-accidental whisky infusion. It's gone away again now, really wondering if it was some sort of allergic reaction. I've had dreadful issues with allergies in the last few weeks, starting out with having to call an ambulance after my throat started closing up after some cherries. I feel like I'm completely losing control of my own body. Still not been to my GP though because I was going to the UK right afterwards and got a new inhaler and some 'better' antihistamines while there.

It's quite a weird situation of feeling completely unable to properly control the risk of having a bad reaction while simultaneously feeling like it's not bothering me enough right now for me to run to the GP. I have been having some alarming reactions to more and more things though, since then. I need to get on with it. Maybe part of it is being worried that it'll be a life-altering conclusion. I kind of know that it's unlikely they're going to end up concluding that I will at some point be able to return to just eating anything I want without worrying about possible reactions. Such a weird thing to be happening in my late twenties.

Morning all
Sorry to be missing, life has been too hectic and active dieting hasn't happened the last week despite my good intentions. However, by sheer luck ive still lost weight so I'm now 11st 12.5lbs! Today I am going to log and track everything, as a start at getting back on plan.
Emz, Bath we will hit that 11 stone soon!!!

leesmum · 22/07/2015 07:30

Smillas you sound a bit down hun, I hope you can to the bottom of your health concerns, and how frightening having to call an ambulance, tale care love Flowers

Hi Dowser and welcome to the group, you'll get loads of advice and help on here Smile

I see some of you (like me) didn't have the best of weekends, but hey we have to live and have fun so don't worry too much Grin

I have lost 1/2 pound this week..not bad considering the amount I ate over weekend, so I'm now 9.0 1/4!! Hopefully I'll be under 9 stone next week and not far from my goal Wink enjoy the rest of your day everyone.

Eliza22 · 22/07/2015 08:19

B11 stone. 10lbs lost in total. So glad I "made a start".

Well done everyone!

Dogseggs · 22/07/2015 08:27

I have been running round like a blue arsed fly the last few days, which must have done some good... I've lost another 1lb since last week, yippee!

Congrats everyone, hope you hit those milestones soon.

Bathsheba3 · 22/07/2015 08:46

Great losses - amazing! Well done Star

Not from me though. Oh well. 11 13 today. But I am NOT going back in the 12 stone bracket. I am loosing focus but will try and get back on track.

Smilla - get yourself a GP appt for a referral to an allergy clinic for skin prick testing (as you probably are well aware). I'll hold your hand while you ring to make the appointment ....

My DS is allergic to cherries - he has oral allergy syndrome - plus many other things. My DD is severely allergic to dairy. The hard thing is not knowing. Once you have a definitive list then you can plan ahead, and relax. It will be tough knowing certain things you can't have any more, but there will be plenty of other yummy things you CAN have. Flowers

JontyDoggle37 · 22/07/2015 08:53

Smillas sorry to hear you're having problems, missed it when I posted earlier, hope you're feeling ok today and making some steps towards knowing what is happening

Bathsheba3 · 22/07/2015 09:37

Is 11.0 stone (or 10 stone 13 lbs) achievable Jonty or is it just a pipe-dream ???? Nice to hear from you btw. You are 'sounding' more up-beat. Hope you are getting your health stuff sorted. Lets have a good week this week and try and get down to 11 stone 10 lbs by this time next week ...

Emz449 · 22/07/2015 09:56

I hope you're feeling ok Smillas, it sounds horrible Flowers

Congrats to those who have lost weight, Star's for all of you!

My friend forgot to bring back my scales after she's borrowed them so won't be weighing until Friday Shock two whole days! Hopefully will see a loss by then. I've asked to make sure she brings them in tomorrow so that I can have a weigh in before I go see the boyfriend for the weekend

JontyDoggle37 · 22/07/2015 12:22

Bath 11 stone is definitely achievable - before I got pregnant, on my wedding day last year i weighed 10st 1lb. So I'm getting right back down to 10 stone. 11 stone is just a stop off on the way!!!!

Bathsheba3 · 22/07/2015 12:36

You are right Jonty. I was just under 10 stone on my wedding day (13 years ago!). Gritted determination. Health will be so much better, even before thinking about how good I would feel in myself.

How frustrating Emz. Lets hope she remembers the scales. Or you may need to get new ones and drop down to 10 stone 9 overnight !!!!

Emz449 · 22/07/2015 13:53

Ha I would love that! Doubtful though. I've actually had a think about it and have asked her if she would hold onto them for 6 days of the week and I'll just weigh in on Fridays. Jumping on and off the scales everyday just isn't healthy for my mindset. So if I don't have them I can't do it! I've chosen Friday so that I can be a bit naughty at the weekend and hopefully have those couple of days to get rid of any gain

SmillasSenseOfSnow · 22/07/2015 15:49

Thanks guys. Star

I think I'll get my DP to ring up and get me an appointment in the morning. It's always seemed like 'the wrong way to get an appointment' when I've rung up myself. Whereas because he's native it seems he can ring up whenever and get a reasonable response. Highly annoying.

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 22/07/2015 21:11

Hello. I've not checked in for a while. I lost 2lb last week, which I'm very pleased with. I've upped the amount of exercise I'm doing, which really seems to be helping. Just hoping I can stay motivated.

JontyDoggle37 · 23/07/2015 08:16

Well done Harry!
Smillas at least you have someone in the family that can get a GP appointment!Grin

Bathsheba3 · 23/07/2015 16:06

Interesting thread on 5'6" & what weight & size. I can relate to lots of them!! Great loss Harry. Keep up the good work!

Emz449 · 23/07/2015 17:37

Well done Harry, great news Smile

I did see that actually Bath, was very interesting.

Weighing in tomorrow to see what the loss is if any, wish me luck!

leesmum · 23/07/2015 22:15

Good luck for tomorrow Emz Smile

Hi Harry a 2lb loss is Fab!
Weekend is nearly here...be strong ladies GrinGrinGrin

SmillasSenseOfSnow · 24/07/2015 03:37

Good god it's been impossible for me to stay anywhere near 1200 in the last week. I've manually upped my goal to 1300 just to see if an extra 100 can tempt me to stay below the aim. I think it's because I'm going to bed in the early hours of the morning (or not so early - think 5am and later) and getting up late, it's messing with when I think I should be eating. Or maybe because I've gone back to eating bits and pieces, actually. When I was doing well before it was on 3 x ~300-350 kcals and then a small snack or two per day. Need to get back to porridge I think!

Emz449 · 24/07/2015 06:46

11 st9 this morning! Single digits Grin just need to stay in the singles now over the weekend! Not weighing until next Friday now so I am determined to stay on track! Would love to see 11 stone 7 by then

JontyDoggle37 · 24/07/2015 08:14

Emz that's brilliant well done!
Smillas I think successful diets are always the ones where you've worked what works specifically for you as an individual.
No weight change for me today, but feeling like I'm gradually getting myself back together, and aiming to be out for a run tomorrow morning. Aiming for a really good food day today. Have a good one all!
