MFP to lose weight

Emz449 · 30/05/2015 18:31

Hello! I'm starting this thread to make myself accountable and as motivation. I've been using MFP for 16 days now and have lost 6lbs, really enjoying it and finding it so easy to use. I'll be posting weigh ins as and when as I am a frequent weigher! Hopefully the loses will continue Grin I started in Janaury as 14 stone 11lbs Shock but I've become complacent

Starting weight - 14 stone 11lbs
Current weight - 12 stone 5lbs
Goal weight - Currently 10 stone 11lbs but I think that I will aim lower once I reach that

On 1,450 a day with an active lifestyle. Would be great to see other peoples loses and experiences with MFP, annoyed I didn't start it sooner!

Morning everyone. What a gorgeous day here. Plus I have lost another 1/2 lb. My wardrobe has expanded - in that I am now fitting into clothes I haven't been able to in ages. Getting loads of compliments now too. Feeling good.

For those not loosing - keep with it. Stick to your calories, enter everything in. YOU CAN DO IT. Positive attitude. Day by day steps, and in a week, or 2 or 4 there will be results.

Titsalinabumsquash · 10/07/2015 09:21

Good morning.

I'm not well, I'm tucked up in bed with the baby, I've got mastitis and feel rotten.
I'm drinking water but not really eaten much. Hopefully I'll feel better once antibiotics kick in and I can get back to it. Smile

Emz449 · 10/07/2015 13:37

Hi all sorry I haven't posted much, still tracking and logging though! I've been away with work and haven't had much wifi! Went out for dinner last night with work and I did indulge.. Had the most AMAZING sirloin steak and chips with peppercorn sauce and lots of cocktails and prosecco. On the train now to see oh and I am so excited! Really can't wait to see him Grin

I hope everyone is doing well! Will have a proper catch up on posts later on, but just wanted to let you know I'm still here Smile

Hello all... It's the weekend again already!

Have a fab time with your OH, emz.

sorry you aren't well, titsalina, mastitis is horrible. Hope you can get some rest, not easy with a baby I know. hope the meds kick in very soon too.

Congrats, bath, fitting into you rclothes again - what a lovely feeling that must be! It's good to hear you are feeling positive again after last week.

I have just been for dinner with workmates which was lovely, sitting in the sunshine in the pub garden. I saved up my calories all day so I could savour every bit of it. It was well worth the wait. I managed to resist the chips and burger option and went for salmon and new potatoes. (And a bit of pudding afterwards. My sweet tooth is a weakness).

Have good weekends, all. Congrats everyone, and keep at it.

SmillasSenseOfSnow · 10/07/2015 21:34

Sounds delicious, Dogseggs. Smile

I feel for you re. the coming year, Emz. The first year of my current relationship was long distance (different, non-bordering countries). It wasn't as far as South America though and I couldn't imagine doing long distance again after having lived together. Hopefully you'll get an amazing holiday out of it though, right? Grin

Dogseggs · 11/07/2015 10:37

How are you finding MFP, smilla? Sounds like you have got off to a good start. Have you found the right sort of fibre to eat?

It's a month today since I started: I have gone from 12st 12 to 12st 7. I am happy with that, especially as it's the longest I have gone with any sort of eating plan. This thread has really helped, it's so encouraging to be part of it.

Bathsheba3 · 11/07/2015 12:02

Dogs - contrast to you! 12 1/2 stone is amazing. And a very sensible loss in a month.

I had too much wine last night, which sent me to the carbs, which was v naughty. I can't quite find the discipline I had during June when I just cut out all alcohol, carbs, and sugar.

Taking kids to cinema this afternoon. No popcorn. Actually looking forward to a snooze!

Hope everyone else are doing OK. Hope you are having a great weekend Emz Wink. Hope you are OK too Jonty and Tits?

SmillasSenseOfSnow · 11/07/2015 16:33

I really like it, Dogseggs, though I've had about three days in the 11ish I've been using it this time where I've been more than 100 cals over my limit (in fact the first day I ate 2450 cals or so, but I don't think I was trying to stay below 1200 that day!). I've also had a couple of days/evenings where I've felt genuinely ill. Whether that was due to a hint of creeping food poisoning (which is what it felt like one of the times), or too few calories, or something to do with coffee, I don't know. I managed not to stuff my face to combat it, though! As far as fibre is concerned, I'm trying to eat a small amount of whole wheat and/or some vegetables containing insoluble fibre each day. And then when that doesn't work I'm drinking coffee and upping my water intake, which hasn't failed yet. Wink

Sadly the initial rush of dropping pounds seems to have ended now. I'm now losing about 0.05-0.1 kg per day. Maybe more will fall off sometime soon - I know weight loss isn't linear. I'm staying around 1200 cals so I'm not worried. I've got the constipation issue to avoid and an exam coming up mid-August so plenty of things to focus on besides the slowing changes on the scales. Grin

Another thing is that because both of us (DP and I) are doing it, we're saving so much money right now. We usually spend a good £70 a week at the supermarket and then one or two takeaways on top of that which is another £50 a month (we don't live in the UK, it's expensive here in the first place). I suspect that we'll be spending a much more sensible amount this month - which is good, because we're having to lock £3000 away temporarily because of a residence permit application which is about to finish going through. Smile

Hello all, fallen off the wagon rather this week. Ended up going to the GP as was still feelin unwell and having joint pains, so now I'm being screens for Rheumatoid Arthitis. Praying it isn't that, but if it is even more important I get the weight off, so back to tracking tomorrow. We need to save a serious amount of money on food shopping too as I'm just about to take voluntary redundancy so we'll be living on husbands salary and trying not to touch our savings. Inward and downward, as the weight loss saying goes!

JontyDoggle37 · 11/07/2015 17:18

Onward, not inward, flipping autocorrect

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 11/07/2015 23:36

Hi all, not a great first week. I have only logged all of my calories two days so far this week, and haven't weighed in since Monday. But I do think I have been eating better than usual. I have been trying to eat Gluten Free as much as possible, and I do feel better. Definitely less bloated!! We had a BBQ tonight, and had a gluten free roll with it. So proud that I didn't swell up like a balloon afterwards!! I can also drink tea again (for a little while it was upsetting my stomach) which helps, as I can have a tea with sweetener to stave off sugar cravings.

Am heading off for a shower, and then to bed. My feet are killing me. Have spent most of the day doing housework, washing, and then planting the flower beds in my front garden. I barely ate anything before my dinner at 7:45pm!! Whoops. Keeping busy certainly helps......

JontyDoggle37 · 12/07/2015 07:43

ColdFeet hope your weigh in goes ok.
Well, I finally got the guts to get back on the scales, expecting to have gone back up to at least 12st5. BUT I'm only in the 11's at last! 11st 13 and a half, to be precise! So I'm back tracking today and motivated again, just got to wait for dratted blood test results and hope they're ok.

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 12/07/2015 09:02

I fell off the wagon a bit last week too Jonty. My parents have been staying - which has been great for DD and DS, but has limited my ability to exercise. I've also eaten out 4 times in the last week, which hasn't helped. So today I weigh the same as I did last Sunday, which all things considered isn't too bad. Next week should be better - the DC are now staying with my parents for a week, and DH is away. So I should have time to exercise and a bit more control of what I eat.

Bathsheba3 · 12/07/2015 12:23

Hurrah hurrah hurrah Jonty for hitting the 11's. Sorry to hear about everything else though.

And that is great you stayed the same Harry.

I'm looking forward to getting back on track tomorrow. Weekdays are far easier.

Emz449 · 12/07/2015 15:14

Jonty, well done on getting into the 11's must have been a nice surprise for you!

I have had a lovely weekend, thank you all for your lovely comments Smile, i'm heading back home in about an hour, but i have eaten and drank way more then i usually would so looking forward to getting back on track tomorrow too! I'm also exhausted, so definitely looking forward to a good sleep tonight and will see what the scales say in the morning. Planning to low carb this week, aiming for less then 20g of carbs of day. i saw a lot of people this weekend who commented on my weight loss which was confidence boosting! It was also lovely seeing my OH, he has just left and i miss him already! hopefully will see him this weekend though.

Will catch up in the morning with my current weight!

ColdFeet I don't know whether this could be the problem but I can get horrendously nauseous from black tea (as in, regular tea, not 'tea without milk') for a couple of hours if I drink it on an empty stomach. It's happened enough times for me to be very wary of having a morning cuppa without breakfast alongside!

Emz449 · 13/07/2015 08:40

Morning all! Hope you're all well and looking forward to a new week Smile

Good news from me is that I am 11 stone 12lbs this morning so I'm a mixture of happy and shocked, really thought I could have been pushed back into the 12's after this weekend.

The week is looking fairly straight forward for me, there are no work events so will be able to keep on track. I have a night out on Friday but not planning to drink much then so that I can stay on track. I'd like to weigh in next Monday at 11 stone 9lbs but it's totm month this week so will see what happens!

OP posts:
Bathsheba3 · 13/07/2015 11:54

Thanks Emz for setting new goal. Just what I needed. I will aim for 11 stone 9 too. Daren't get on the scales today. Will be exceptionally good for next 7 days, log every single mouthful, and fingers crossed.

I've been eating carbs, which automatically make me feel bigger / more bloated / and generally bleuh. Will cut them right back again.

Weather has turned. Don't know if that is a good or a bad thing in terms of dieting? Bad I think for me.

Emz449 · 13/07/2015 16:54

no problem Bath Smile

I'm not sure about the weather, perhaps a bad thing too for me? I've preferred to have salads/light meals in the evening when it's hot.

I do have to say though I am absolutely starving today! Think it's a combination of Monday, tiredness and all the food I had this weekend.

Can I also ask if anyone else has experienced this when healthy eating/losing weight, it feels almost like a rippling under your skin? I've told myself that it's fat cells shrinking/moving!

imustbepatient · 13/07/2015 21:22

Hi all and well done everyone on the losses!

Being away for a couple of days for the funeral meant my eating was very far from what I had been sticking to since joining this thread. I had so many more carbs - including fish and chips! Ah well, I felt pretty dreadful after two days of that sort of food so it has been good incentive to get back on it again. Amazing how quickly I felt bloated when eating bread, cereal, pastry etc.

So I'm back to logging everything, eating low carb and lots of veg and leafy greens. I think I might avoid the scales till next week though as I know I'll feel despondent if I see a gain which I clearly would given what i ate and drank

Onwards and inwards - I liked your autocorrect with that Jonty as I had a picture of our stomachs going inwards!

Bathsheba3 · 13/07/2015 21:38

Fizzy water for me this evening. Just poured my 3rd glass. Desperate to keep off the snacks that I know are in the kitchen cupboard for kids packed lunches. Lethal.

Imust - ha ha ha! Your post sounds like mine (although I haven't been to a funeral - sorry)

SmillasSenseOfSnow · 13/07/2015 22:11

I somehow managed to fit half a 450g packet of butter chicken (actually less than half probably, the chicken had been cooked with the skin on for some reason and we left that in the packet, along with some of the sauce) in 1.5 pitta breads with half a banana and some mixed salad into my calories today! And went for a bit of a walk because we had to go to a branch of the bank that isn't our local one for some paperwork. I was nearly 1 lb lighter than yesterday when I weighed myself as well. Good day for me. Smile

Now I just need to resist eating back my calories from the walking, in case they're way off.

SmillasSenseOfSnow · 13/07/2015 22:15

Oh and I'm drinking blueberry tea this evening. Smile

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 13/07/2015 22:19

I managed to be 143 calories under my target today (all exercise calories). DH is away (business trip) as are the DC (grandma & granddad's), so just me at home. I can't work out if this is easier (just me to feed, so not worth cooking much) or not (just me, so temptation to snack through boredom).

At least finding time to exercise won't be an issue.

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 13/07/2015 22:22

Failed again today. Just about to log my calories for the day, but I do not need MFP to tell me I have had too much sugar today.......the sugar hangover tells me I have over done it.

There's nothing else for it - I am going to have to go cold turkey tomorrow!!!
