MFP to lose weight

Emz449 · 30/05/2015 18:31

Hello! I'm starting this thread to make myself accountable and as motivation. I've been using MFP for 16 days now and have lost 6lbs, really enjoying it and finding it so easy to use. I'll be posting weigh ins as and when as I am a frequent weigher! Hopefully the loses will continue Grin I started in Janaury as 14 stone 11lbs Shock but I've become complacent

Starting weight - 14 stone 11lbs
Current weight - 12 stone 5lbs
Goal weight - Currently 10 stone 11lbs but I think that I will aim lower once I reach that

On 1,450 a day with an active lifestyle. Would be great to see other peoples loses and experiences with MFP, annoyed I didn't start it sooner!

Hi all, I've been AWOL for a couple of weeks. Last weighed myself 2 weeks ago and was down another kilo so am pretty much at my goal now. But last week I wound up getting really ill and could barely eat for a few days but then once I was better I had a bit of an indulgent weekend! So I will weigh myself tomorrow at the gym and see how I do.

It's quite funny how MFP tells you off if you haven't eaten all your calories. I couldn't manage more than a few pieces of toast last Monday and Tuesday but am better now. It was some weird virus and the after effects seem to be that I've got a bitter aftertaste from everything I eat since. Very strange...

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 13/07/2015 22:46

I think you can set your goal in MFP to gain weight (rather than loose weight). Maybe this is why it tells you off if you are under your calorie target.

SmillasSenseOfSnow · 13/07/2015 22:49

It tells you off if you're under 1000 cals for a woman or 1200 for a man, I believe. I read it was so they aren't seen to be enabling people to eat in a disordered way. Or rather, enabling people suffering from anorexia nervosa to continue to shed weight they don't need to shed.

SmillasSenseOfSnow · 13/07/2015 22:53

This is doubtless a stupid question but is anyone else really enjoying how much they're now savouring what they choose to eat? Previously I was just eating what I wanted, when I wanted, more or less (too used to when I was running 3.5 times a week + going to the gym and thus able to eat more). Now I'm debating whether to have porridge with raspberries and blueberries and maybe banana, or a pitta bread and humus. Can't have both though!

fizzychuck89 · 14/07/2015 08:46

Hi guys, I'm new and would like to join your thread? ! Smile

Bathsheba3 · 14/07/2015 08:50

Me too Smilla - i.e. you need to eat minimum of calories, plus conscious thinking about food...

...except for the weekend / end of last week..... Well I braved the scales this morning just to see what damage I had done. Not good. 12 stone 0, so that is up 2.5 lbs I think.

Hope by 'fessing-up it helps deter you ladies from doing the same. It was not worth it. 11stone 9 now rather unrealistic I think Emz. But will go for it anyhow.

How are you Jonty?

Bathsheba3 · 14/07/2015 08:51

Glad you are feeling better Sansyra. If that happens, you can always add random calories to MFP so you can complete the day.

Titsalinabumsquash · 14/07/2015 09:01

I'm down to 11st but I've had a run of really rubbish health so I assume it's down to that. Confused

Emz449 · 14/07/2015 09:28

Well done anyway Tits, bad health or not, I hope you're feeling better now.

Bath we can still try! It might be not very achievable for me either this week but will see what happens anyway and it'll be a nice bonus if it does happen Grin I was aiming for 11 stone 4 by the end of July but not sure that'll happen now, 8lbs to lose in 18 days Hmm

Welcome fizzy and good luck!

Welcome fizzy!
Well I haven't braved the scales since Sunday morning, or tracked properly due to things being so manic....and er, me being naughty!
Husbands band were playing at a festival Sunday so drive up to see them, and ate rubbish on the way due to bad planning and lack of time, then yesterday hadlun h out with my mum (salmon salad so not Too bad) and then dinner at our friends house (chicken Kiev, potato wedges, corn on the con and salad plus THREE large glasses of wine. And this morning I suffered the hangover as a result!!! Ah well, it was worth it in this case, I'm about to leave where I've worked for seventeen years and it's a bit of a wow moment. Back on the wagon pretty much today, I've got to sit and put everything in, think I'll be a bit over today but not too bad. Got my blood result back and not rheumatoid arthritis, thank god, but most likely something called post partim arthralgia, where your hormones from having a baby make your body think all your joints have bad Arthitis. Fun.not. Apparently it will go away in time, in the meantime I'm putting myself on turmeric, black pepper and coconut oil. The three combined work as a mega anti inflammatory. So hoping I might feel a difference in a few days!
Bath commiserations on the gain, as you told me last week, it will soon come off again!

leesmum · 14/07/2015 14:23

Hi all ive been mad busy so trying to catch up with you all Smile

Cold going overboard on sugar can really knock you sick, i havent done it in a while but its a really horrible feeling and not worth it, hope youre back on track today and being good Wink
Tits well done you 11st is brilliant!!!
Sansarya im also weighing in tomorrow, hope youve recovered from your illness and are starting to feel better.
Bath dont let the weight gain get to you, youve done really well and im sure it'll soon come off Smile
Jonty pleased to hear your blood test come back ok and its nothing too serious. Sounds like you had a good weekend (im v. jealous of your 3 glasses of wine!!) we all need a good "Blow-out" now and again! Wine
Smillas im the same as you, really enjoying my food even though i have kept sugar and alcohol to a minimum, i also bump up calories so i dont get a telling off!
Hi Fizzy welcome to the group Smile

hope i havent left anyone out, keep up the good work ladies and ill be back in morning with my weigh-in Flowers

Bathsheba3 · 14/07/2015 17:06

StarStarStarStarStar for us in the absence of chocolate and cake

leesmum · 14/07/2015 17:27

Bath we've all earned those 5 Star's

Emz how you doing? That 8lbs will be gone before you know it Smile

Bathsheba3 · 14/07/2015 19:27

Yes - we've all earned every single one, because we are all wonderful.

We all have our own problems / stresses going on, but we are worth more to ourselves being strong and in control than just loosing ourselves to too much / the wrong food.

leesmum · 14/07/2015 19:41

Well said Bath my own personal problem at the moment is having to get the car fixed cos I reversed into a lampost at weekend ShockBlushSad

Sansarya · 14/07/2015 20:21

Weighed myself at the gym and am down another kilo, so I'm pretty much at my goal! How do I adjust MFP for maintenance? I was on 1200 calories but can probably move up to 1500 now.

imustbepatient · 14/07/2015 22:41

Bath great message thank you. I will keep, telling myself that!

Lees ouch poor you. I did something similar in a car park building a couple of months back, felt a complete wally doing it!

Sansarya fantastic well done! I think you can either change your goal set up on MFP to losing no weight. Or add 100 cal daily for a week, then another 100 per day for the next week etc till you find the point just below where you gain weight / stop losing weight.

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 14/07/2015 23:09

Lees have probably eaten less sugar, but I haven't been good enough to log all calories yet today Blush

Right, will be good tomorrow, will be good tomorrow, will be good tomorrow. Will be good tomorrow.
Weekend will be difficult. Got to make cakes for a work bake sale on Friday (its for charity - I cant say no to helping out), Saturday we have an annual family get together and Sunday we have family over for lunch. To be fair, out all of that, I think friday will be the hardest day.
Will just have to keep filling up with drinks......

leesmum · 15/07/2015 07:24

Morning ladies...another 2 1/4 lb off for me so that's nearly 9lb in 3 weeks!!! Ohh think I'll treat myself to a satsuma and some grapes at lunch Grin keep going everyone Smile

Eliza22 · 15/07/2015 08:32

2lbs off here. Ow 11.2 from 11.10lbs. Feeling more toned with the walking/light running (only 10 mins).

Well done all! It's been a slow process but I'll feel better in my holiday gear at 11 St (still 10 days to hols) than 11.10 lbs so, it's good. Smile

Bathsheba3 · 15/07/2015 08:48

Great losses leesmum and eliza! And to Sansarya reaching goal.

And I have magically lost 2 1/4 lb overnight down to 11stone 11.75. All very bizarre how weight can fluctuate so much. But overall 1/2 lb loss from last week. maybe all the stress of yesterday

Sorry to hear about your medical problems Jonty. Really not nice. Are you able to get out walking / jogging, or joints too sore for that?

Emz449 · 15/07/2015 09:24

Well done Sansarya for reaching goal! Must feel great Smile

Congrats Eliza and Bath for your losses! Flowers

My weight has stayed the same today at 11 stone 12lbs on the dot, 11 stone 9 not feeling very achievable but I still have 5 weigh in mornings to go until Monday.

Also feeling a bit blocked up, might buy some fybogel after work and hope it works!

I've also come up with a sneaky plan for Friday night, we're going out for dinner to a Cuban place, which is fine I can adjust my day for that, but it's the drinking! So I'm going to have a few drinks and then just pretend that my diet coke is vodka diet coke. I just really don't want drinking too much to ruin my weight loss for the week!

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 15/07/2015 10:13

Right.being a good girl and checking in. 15st 13.25 this morning - I shall check in again after tomorrow's weigh in, and I WILL weigh a little less then.

Well done on your losses Eliza & bath Flowers

Emz449 · 15/07/2015 10:30

Good luck cold!

SmillasSenseOfSnow · 15/07/2015 14:09

Hey all! The initial rush of weight loss unfortunately only lasted the first week I think. I'm now losing 0.1 kg per day, and since I'm rounding to the nearest 0.5 lb for the purposes of checking in on MFP, that means lots of frustrating days where I can't update (or at least can't update and see a loss)! But at least my weight is going down.

I started at 11st 10 and I'm now 11st 2.5. Looks like I'm Eliza22's twin! Except I'm not going on holiday any time soon... Envy
