MFP to lose weight

Emz449 · 30/05/2015 18:31

Hello! I'm starting this thread to make myself accountable and as motivation. I've been using MFP for 16 days now and have lost 6lbs, really enjoying it and finding it so easy to use. I'll be posting weigh ins as and when as I am a frequent weigher! Hopefully the loses will continue Grin I started in Janaury as 14 stone 11lbs Shock but I've become complacent

Starting weight - 14 stone 11lbs
Current weight - 12 stone 5lbs
Goal weight - Currently 10 stone 11lbs but I think that I will aim lower once I reach that

On 1,450 a day with an active lifestyle. Would be great to see other peoples loses and experiences with MFP, annoyed I didn't start it sooner!

Welcome everyone new. Stick at it, small steps, realistic targets, and we will get there together!

I'm beginning to get a bit bored of my food - I've been eating the same (salmon & salad, roast veggies & lentils) for the last month. Must get looking for some tasty low cal recipes online. Any ideas anyone?

Your talk of wagamamas has been got me craving noodles and curry Emz. Perhaps I'll make an Indian curry tomorrow with paste & tomatoes (rather than jar creamy sauce). Yum. I love spicy food.

Night all

Bathsheba3 · 07/07/2015 07:59

Oh well. Scales do not lie. Perhaps by tomorrow I can make it back to what I was last week. A good lesson and serves me right for falling off the rails into a vat of caramel bites and the rest

Meant to say enormous restraint on McD's Eliza !!!

JontyDoggle37 · 07/07/2015 08:21

Morning all. Got back last night. It was a lovely weekend but I am exhausted. Bad combination of sugar hangover from crap eaten while travelling, imminent TOTM and seven hours on the road yesterday. I weighed myself this morning and it says I've put on 2.5lbs. Ouch. Will do my best to get back on track today but need to eat for energy today plus we're taking my mum out for birthday dinner tonight - olives for starter and pasta arrabiata for main I think.
Welcome to all newbies, and well done to all the people who've dropped weight!

Titsalinabumsquash · 07/07/2015 09:34

Good morning. Smile

Still hovering at 11.4 this morning, grr!

I have been advised by jawbone to up my fibre at breakfast so I've had fat free natural yoghurt with a tbsp bran in it and some chopped fruit, mfp is now merrily moaning about my sugar intake now, I can't win! Wink

JontyDoggle37 · 07/07/2015 10:22

Titsalina I tend to ignore MFP Re sugar intake of the sources are natural, I.e. Fruit. I only worry about processed sugar and fat. I view natural sugar as something helpful.

Emz449 · 07/07/2015 10:34

Morning all! I haven't weighed myself this morning but I will tomorrow to see if there are some of the pesky extra pounds still lingering. Hopefully not! Lots of treats in the office though.

Glad you had a good weekend Jonty, 2.5lbs will be off in no time.

I know what you mean re the same food Bath, I've had weekabix with banana for breakfast and soup, babybel and a kitkat for lunch at work for the past month. Getting bored of lunch now, going to get some nice salad bits for lunch to shake things up

imustbepatient · 07/07/2015 17:04

Bath and jonty I know you'll get those pesky pounds off really quickly. Frustrating how easily they come back if you take your eye off the ball for too long ie eat crisps and drink too much wine

Welcome newcomers and best of luck.

Bath in terms of recipe recommendations, I've got the hairy bikers diet books and they have some really tasty and non-fiddly (mostly) recipes in, the curry one is a particular favourite. Actually, I must dig the books out again...

Another one I like is Annabel Langbein, a kiwi chef. She has some of her recipes available online and I follow her on Facebook. The recipes are not completely aimed at being calorie controlled as an obviously flagged 'selling point' but the intro to her first recipe book talks about how she gained lots of weight as a chef and decided to lose it by coming up with heathy recipes, using fresh, unprocessed food with an emphasis on flavour. Although she follows the approach of having a few treats here and there too so some recipes are definitely likely to break MFP! Her chocolate cake is divine (and fail safe) but best made to take somewhere as it is dangerous to have in the house.

Hi ladies and hello to all the newbies, you are very welcome and will get loads of encouragement Smile well done to those who are losing lbs.
I've had an up and down week...think I've been pretty good so hoping to lose at least 1-2 lbs Grin and my very considerate husband bought me a box of wine cos someone had been over to France for a booze run....I haven't had any booze for over 2 weeks and I really think its made a huge difference.. So I'm going to have to stay away..for now Grin!!!
To those who haven't lost any lbs don't let it put you off some weeks are better than others.

Titsalinabumsquash · 08/07/2015 07:19

11.2 here, 2 down, let's hope it stays there or lower and doesn't go back up! Smile

leesmum · 08/07/2015 07:30

Well done Tits won't be long till you're in the 10's Smile I'm doing my weigh in this morning... Fingers crossed Grin

Bathsheba3 · 08/07/2015 07:55

Wednesday weigh-in here too. I'm 11st 12 1/2, so 1lb down from last week. Hurrah phew

Well done Tits. Hope you got on Ok Leesmum?

leesmum · 08/07/2015 08:13

Nice one Bath really pleased for you. I've lost 2lbs Grin so am down to 9.3 now...getting there but these last two weeks haven't been easy and I have been quite hungry at times......I have just sent myself a "well done, you can do it" text!!! Have a good day everyone Smile

Bathsheba3 · 08/07/2015 09:45

Fab Leesmum - 2lbs is amazing.

Thanks for hairy biker suggestion imust. Didn't realise they do diet books too.

2.5 lbs is nothing jonty. It really will be off in a few days of being careful, which you are normally. I'm very impressed that's all you are over, considering!

I'm going out for a run later. Hair needs a wash (I have a lot & it's hard to manage, so have to plan exercise around it!) plus I had large glass vino last night.

Out this evening. Going to wear a top I bought at vast expense 2 years ago but have never been able to wear it til now. .

Have a great day everyone. Careful eating and the lbs / kg will slip away.

fortifiedwithtea · 08/07/2015 12:54

Haven't dared weigh myself for days but not expecting any loss despite never going over 2000 which I think is ok. I reckon if I eat less than daily recommended calories for a women a day at least I won't gain. Seems to be working so far.

One day last week MFP said if every day was like that particular day I would be 13 stone 9lbs in 5 weeks time. That's a loss of 1lb. Now that really is steady weight loss Grin

Thanks imust for mentioning the hairybikers. They lost shed loads of weight. I will check out their book Smile

Dogseggs · 08/07/2015 14:15

Amazingly I don't seem to have gained anything after the weekend of not counting calories. I think doing MFP over the last few weeks has changed my eating habits: I realise I am not filling the plate up right to the edge any more Grin. I have been careful not to overdo things since, though, greek yoghurt and raspberries for breakfast today, a boiled egg and a slice of toast for lunch, (and some vigorous housework as penance for the weeknd's excess).

Haha fortified that is taking things steady. At least it is projecting a loss, that's the main thing.

Emz449 · 08/07/2015 18:08

Well done Bath! Very happy for you!

That's amazing Smile I'm back down to 11 stone 11lbs now which is great.

Thing is though I've been having a few too many treats, it is all within my calories but I'm not making the best choices for what i get if that makes sense. So I think after this weekend where I will probably be eating and drinking a fair bit I'm going to be strictly low carbs to give my weight loss a boost and get rid of the inevitable gain!

Came up with a 5 day plan to still log on MFP -

Breakfast - I'm going to be making egg muffins on Sunday with cheddar and ham
Lunch - Chicken salad
Dinner - Batch cooking chilli for the days
Snacks - Berries

Another person joining here! Grin

I started using MFP last Thursday for the first time in at least 1.5 years. I weighed 11 stone 10 lbs and am now 11 stone 4 lbs!

TMI warning!

I tried doing the 5:2 in December/January but I have a tendency to get incredibly constipated anyway (had an awful episode last summer where I didn't go, or even pass wind I think, for a good 10 days and needed to insert gel up my bum a few times in the end. Shock

My bowel movements dropped off completely since about Saturday but I just drank two strong cups of coffee today and a lot of water (and made sure I had some insoluble fibre in the form of a dark wholegrain roll - I seem to have slow transit so I avoid too much insoluble fibre when not dieting - unfortunately porridge seems to be a bad thing for me if I can't keep on top of offsetting it) and have had success, thank christ. I would have been so disappointed if I'd had to start bumping up my calories with wholegrain bread just to shift the contents of my colon...

SmillasSenseOfSnow · 08/07/2015 18:16

Oh, I forgot to say - I'm late twenties, 5'3 or 5'4. My first aim is to get down to close to 10 stone, then to go from there. I think I weighed about 8.5 stone when I was 14/15ish, and was slim at 16/17. So really I have no idea what I'll look like at 10 stone.

SmillasSenseOfSnow · 08/07/2015 18:18

Also I meant to say I avoid eating too much soluble fibre. Duh.

Bathsheba3 · 08/07/2015 22:25

That is great Emz - you must be so pleased with your new body! I know what you mean about wrong choices. Saying that, I can't just have the one kit kat, so my extra calories is coming from vino now. Tut tut. I'm now over every day - running more at 1350 cals a day rather than my allocated 1200. But I did run/powerwalk for an hour today..

You def sound as though you have re-educated your eating habits Dogs. Good stuff.

That does seem like a very generous calorie allowance fortified! If only ...

Welcome Smill

JontyDoggle37 · 09/07/2015 10:05

Morning all. Still not back on track as not been feeling well since we got back. Mostly avoiding junk and no alcohol at all but not tracking and just eating as and when I need it. Not sure what's going on but awful headache and exhaustion seem to be tha main issues..

Bathsheba3 · 09/07/2015 10:40

Sorry to hear that Jonty. Poor you. Sounds as though your body is just telling you to slow down a bit. You do have a wee baby too don't you? Weight loss is not priority at the moment, YOU are. So listen to what your body is telling you to do, rest (watch tennis!), eat good food & keep avoiding junk / alcohol if you can. Hope you find your energy back soon.

Bathsheba3 · 09/07/2015 16:58

All quiet. Hope everyone are OK & not indulging on too many magnums

SmillasSenseOfSnow · 09/07/2015 23:50

Doing alright, was 108 under my calories yesterday and am 483 under today's (though I will probably have some porridge to make up some of that). Just spent a while looking through the wagamama menu though. Good lord I love that place. Luckily it seems my typical dishes don't add up to more than 1200. Though add a juice on top (love one of their juices) and get tempted by the desserts and all may be lost...

leesmum · 10/07/2015 07:49

Hi Smillas and welcome, sounds like you're off to a good start Smile
How are you feeling today Jonty feeling much better I hope, on your last post you sound very down, take it easy and look after yourself Flowers
