MFP to lose weight

Emz449 · 30/05/2015 18:31

Hello! I'm starting this thread to make myself accountable and as motivation. I've been using MFP for 16 days now and have lost 6lbs, really enjoying it and finding it so easy to use. I'll be posting weigh ins as and when as I am a frequent weigher! Hopefully the loses will continue Grin I started in Janaury as 14 stone 11lbs Shock but I've become complacent

Starting weight - 14 stone 11lbs
Current weight - 12 stone 5lbs
Goal weight - Currently 10 stone 11lbs but I think that I will aim lower once I reach that

On 1,450 a day with an active lifestyle. Would be great to see other peoples loses and experiences with MFP, annoyed I didn't start it sooner!

Emz well done that's fantastic you must feel so proud of yourself!, to those of you who are having bad days... So what!!! Just make sure the good ones outweigh it, and I'm sure that the ones who have stalled a bit will soon start losing lbs again Smile I'm on for my 2nd "dry" weekend... Nor that I'm an alcoholic but I love a couple of glasses of wine over weekend ...( ok then a couple of bottles Blush) I've surprised myself with how strict I can be and keep sending myself inspirational texts!!! Ha Ha enjoy your weekends ladies Star

Bathsheba3 · 04/07/2015 20:58

Well done Emz - 3 stone is just insane! Over 1/4 of your current body weight. Huge congrats to you. Have a fab evening out today.

I kindof guessed that's what was up peacoat - plus work stress too. Don't despair though. 2 good weeks before your hols is really achievable. I have drawn a line under my few bad days, and started afresh today. I'm not going to dwell. Just taken dog out for a stroll. Lovely time of day. DH out so I have TV remote to myself.

And well done for cutting back / out on the wine leesmum. It saves loads of calories.

peacoat · 04/07/2015 21:02

thanks bath and leesmum. I like the idea of inspirational texts - do you type text or send pinterest-type messages?

I too am cutting back on the alcohol. Dry weekend this weekend - I'm drinking iced coconut juice because it's a treat and about 1/5 the price of beer Grin

Emz you are my thinspiration! Congrats! I'm starting where you were!

leesmum · 04/07/2015 21:13

peacoat I gave up smoking 2 years ago and since then I have been a bit up and down with my weight, so my texts are "you gave up smoking so you can give up biscuits!!!" And "did you like the way your jeans felt so tight this morning? No...so sort it out" I just send them to myself all the time! It does help...you lot are the only ones I've told Wink

peacoat · 04/07/2015 21:23

Haha that's absolutely brilliant! I'm going to start doing that. Did you give your phone number some code name as well?

leesmum · 04/07/2015 21:34

Ha ha yes I have a codename ....Mils....slim backwards!! Some of the text are hilarious and others are to tell myself off a bit if I need it Smile

Ragusa · 04/07/2015 22:10

Oh, can I join in please? promise me I will lose 3 stone someone

Had a shaming at the GP on Thursday where he told me I am officially obese and that I have high cholesterol ...

I've resigned myself to no wine for the foreseeable and feeling hungry now and again which is very hard because I am and always have been a bit of a glutton/ fish.

So, I've revived my MFP account and started out on my quest. I'm currently 92 kg at 171cm or 5 feet 7 1/2 inches and am aiming for 73kg.

When I was in my mid-20s I was around 68kg. WTAF happened?!?!

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 04/07/2015 22:21

I had a bad week too peacoat - largely because both DH and DD had their birthdays (so one meal out, and cake). I also have houseguests, so I'm struggling to find time to exercise. I don't think if will be a pretty number when I weigh in tomorrow (I was over by almost 1000 calories on the day I ate out).

peacoat · 04/07/2015 22:31

Harry good luck with the weigh-in then. I have a totally unfounded theory that calories consumed while laughing and happy don't have as serious an effect as those consumed whilst stressed and miserable (not saying you were, but I definitely was!).

Ragusa you are about the same BMI as me I imagine. I'm 175cm and 95kg. I also have high-ish cholesterol. 4 years ago I was running marathons - WTAF happened?!?!

Started again today. I feel like I'm starting again every week at this stage but these habits need to be formed so I guess a few false starts isn't the end. Maybe this is what those motivational posters mean when they say "Don't give up". I certainly thought about it this week - just giving in for good. But eh, life's too long to be obese for the rest of it.

Curiousrugbymum · 04/07/2015 22:53

Thank goodness for exercise calories - parkrun and then a long walk with my friend enabled me to attend 2 bbqs today and stay in the green. Also - yes, the no alcohol makes a HUGE difference. Loving the idea of self texting Grin

peacoat · 05/07/2015 17:48

Curious I saw your post and it finally got me off my arse and I did 2 workouts of Davina's 7 minute workout. I am now shattered but it was exactly what I needed! (I did send myself a text to do it and now I'll send myself one to congratulate me Grin)

Emz449 · 05/07/2015 22:11

Thank everyone, very happy Smile

Seriously hungover today, basically mixed all my drinks last night and didn't really eat very much yesterday. Managed to keep my diet together today though thankfully! About 1300 calories, usually I would be heading down to the nearest mcdonalds!

The food my friends had last night was amazing, different Italian meats and olives and manchego cheese and then some pork belly and garlic stuffed mushrooms. Was so good and low carb. Haven't weighed myself but will see what the damage is tomorrow.

This week could be challenging though. I'm away with work weds to Friday and then travelling back home to see my boyfriend this weekend which will involve lots of food! Going to make sure I make the right choices though

Hi everyone, can I join your lovely thread?

Calorie counting has worked for me in the past, both keeping a diary, and logging on MFP. I managed to religiously write down all calories before having DD-took diary with me to work and wrote foods down as I ate. I find it so hard to stick to now, partly because I work evenings and I still haven't worked out the best eating pattern. I'm hoping a little extra support will help me to stick to it!!

So, I think my starting weight will be about 16st Blush - I will weigh in the morning. my first goal is 15st 7. Going to take this one step at a time......

First step - I am going to get on the cross trainer for 15mins before I jump in the shower!!

Emz449 · 06/07/2015 09:15

Welcome coldfeet and good luck, I hope you find this thread helpful Smile

Two pound gain from the weekend, not too concerned as it should hopefully be gone as quickly as it came on, won't be able to weigh for a few days because a friend is borrowing my scales. I'm having three strict days to get it back down though and hopefully when I weigh again it'll be 11 stone 11lbs!

Horrendously tired today, I couldn't really sleep at all last night, felt like I saw every hour. I'll be making sure I go to bed extra early tonight!

Notstayingup · 06/07/2015 09:24

First week results are in, I lost 8lbs. I was very strict and stuck to the 1200 calories. I have to confess that I was/am starving 60% of the time. But it's working (yay!)

Emz449 · 06/07/2015 09:44

Wow that's amazing Notstayingup! Congratulations you must be so happy Flowers

I was thinking about my goal and I think I'm going to adjust it to 10 stone 7lbs. That would put me into the normal bmi range for my height. So 18 lbs to go!

Titsalinabumsquash · 06/07/2015 10:08

I'm flip flopping over a few pounds at the moment, I was losing 2 lb steadily each week but now I'm losing 1 and then putting it back on Hmm

IF I'm honest I have been having a few more sweet snacks so I'm going to have to start being strict with myself and logging even the less healthy stuff so I'm not kidding myself that I'm being 'good' when I'm not. Blush

Today is a new day! I've had a smoothie with Kale, banana and yoghurt and hemp milk for breakfast. No coffee so far today, I cut down for a while then have had a week of mainlining caffeine. It's been stressful at home with various things but I need to stop letting that be an excuse.

Bathsheba3 · 06/07/2015 10:41

Back on track today. Haven't been tracking on MFP for last 5 days for variety of reasons, so needless to say I daren't get on the scales either ...

But back to it. Positive feeling. Did 1hr v brisk dog walk. Made vegetable juice + egg for breckie.

very impressed by 2 x workouts peacoat. Keep up the good work.

10 stone 7 would be amazing Emz - you would need a whole new wardrobe too! My next milestone would be for 11 stone 7. How are you doing Jonty? hope you had nice hols away.

Emz449 · 06/07/2015 12:17

Good luck bath hope your fresh start goes well.

It would definitely be great to get to 10'7. Would be my lowest weight in years! Might start a little countdown on my chalk board or something!

My boyfriends birthday is the 15th August, I was thinking of aiming for 10 stone something by then, hopefully doable!

Dogseggs · 06/07/2015 12:59

I have just come back from a lovely family get together over the weekend.. There's always loads of food and drink, so I decided to have a break from MFP for the weekend. I haven't weighed myself yet, eek!

We have a holiday booked for the end of July, so I still have a couple of weeks to lose some more flab.

How's everyone else getting on?

Hi coldfeet and titsalina, and welcome! I hope you find lots of support here. titsalina, I had a few days like that too, it's so frustrating! Hopefully the long term progress chart will show a downward drop, even if it is in fits and starts.

Eliza22 · 06/07/2015 13:31

Dogseggs.... I struggle each weekend as its my only sociable time. Yesterday, on the way home from a long journey, my starving family insisted on McDonalds. I had one of those small cheeseburgers (310 calls), water to drink and no fries. Usually I'd have had a QuarterPounder with fries and possibly a milkshake so, not toooo bad, I suppose!

(Should say, we've probably done McD's twice this year. It was only cause we were desperate and saw the sign. Blush

Eliza22 · 06/07/2015 13:34

Oh, forgot to say welcome to the "newbies"! And I've gone from 11st 10lbs to 11st 4lbs. Not massive but at 53, easy does it so I don't end up looking too drawn in the face Smile

Emz449 · 06/07/2015 14:44

I'm off to wagamamas on Friday and all the dishes are so high in calories. Would usually go for the chicken katsu curry but at 1150 that's pretty much my daily allowance gone! Any recommendations? It's at lunch time so was thinking maybe two starters? Was planning on having a nice meal with my boyfriend later and I've got a breakfast meeting that morning so I think it's going to be a high calorie day anyway!

OP posts:
peacoat · 06/07/2015 17:21

Emz I love Wagamamas. I think I'd go for a broth noodle. Or rice and salmon and veggies.

My boyfriend gets the money for his flat this week, I have a job interview tomorrow and in two weeks we're off to rural Spain for 5 weeks, so there'll be a celebratory tapas dinner at some point this week. But in good news, I didn't put any weight on after my two week off the wagon.

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 06/07/2015 22:38

Hi all. I have just sat and logged my calories for today. I didn't plan any food for today (felt rough, bloated etc) so just ate what I thought wouldn't upset my stomach. Have only had 1000 calories so far, but I have gone over on carbs and sugar. And there was me thinking I had been eating low sugar today - must learn to read labels before eating.

Got a bit of a headache, but I am putting this down to not drinking enough today slaps wrist

Well done to all on the weight loss so far. and to eliza for the restraint at McDonalds Smile
