MFP to lose weight

Emz449 · 30/05/2015 18:31

Hello! I'm starting this thread to make myself accountable and as motivation. I've been using MFP for 16 days now and have lost 6lbs, really enjoying it and finding it so easy to use. I'll be posting weigh ins as and when as I am a frequent weigher! Hopefully the loses will continue Grin I started in Janaury as 14 stone 11lbs Shock but I've become complacent

Starting weight - 14 stone 11lbs
Current weight - 12 stone 5lbs
Goal weight - Currently 10 stone 11lbs but I think that I will aim lower once I reach that

On 1,450 a day with an active lifestyle. Would be great to see other peoples loses and experiences with MFP, annoyed I didn't start it sooner!

Oh just realised I have 2 more pounds to go until I've lost three stone Shock

emz that is amazing. You must be really proud! Congrats imust, and blimey, you should get a medal for running in this heat.

I went clothes shopping at the weekend too, and was pleased to find size 16 shorts and trousers were too big. The 14s were a bit tight to be decent, so I didn't buy anything, but it's getting there!

bath congratulations. I am hoping to follow you to the 11s in a few weeks. maybe the 75kg mark is actually doable, it's been so long since I weighed that I had given up on the idea. Thanks everyone for all the encouragement, it's helped loads.

Not, like others said you can earn extra calories by taking twenty minute walks here and there. When I am on an office day I always get myself outside for a bit to stretch my legs (and earn a bit more food). I also found foods like Greek yoghurt, boiled eggs, cottage cheese etc are really filling for the calories they have. I have read that high protein food is really good for making you feel full.

leesmum · 01/07/2015 20:54

Emz that is amazing, nice to hear so many good stories Smile

Bathsheba3 · 01/07/2015 22:09

3 stone is AMAZING Emz. You have done so well to get this far. You are / have inspired us all to dig deep and break habits of a few years and address over-eating, and to take control.

For me, I think a stone in a month was pretty hard core. I am delighted, but won't / can't possibly keep it up. I will keep food roughly the same, but add in the odd glass of wine, and fruit.

Lets hit some more milestones. 11 1/2 for me. 75's for some, size 14s for others. We can do it Star Star Star

imustbepatient · 01/07/2015 23:08

Great post Bath, I'm in! It's actually really exciting to think where I might be up to on 1st August Grin

JontyDoggle37 · 02/07/2015 07:09

Emz that's fantastic, definitely due a big celebration when you hit that 3 stone marker!
No loss for me today, although I feel lighter, so maybe it will follow tomorrow. I did a Pilates class last night in 28 degree heat, I was chugging down water all the way through!
Heading off for a weekend away this evening, so won't be able to weigh until Tuesday. We're going away in our motorhome, so for the most part I can manage what I eat really easily, so I'm hoping not to go off track. We've got dinner out with friends tonight, but I've managed to leave 700 calories for dinner, so hopefully if I don't have a starter, or have two starters in instead of starter + main, I should be ok. I don't mind if I go a bit over, as I'm going to have a manic day anyway, so I'm bound to burn some off!
Have a great day all

Emz449 · 02/07/2015 08:40

Thanks allGrin I wouldn't have been able to do it without this group, it definitely keeps me motivated, close to nearly 500 posts!

STS this morning which I am happy with afte lunch yesterday. I'm having a working lunch meeting today but I have assigned all my calories and should have plenty left over for dinner later

Are you going somewhere nice Jonty?

OP posts:
JontyDoggle37 · 02/07/2015 08:47

Cornwall, probably St Ives area, although we'll just see where we fancy stopping

Bathsheba3 · 02/07/2015 09:06

We're off to Cornwall for our hols this year too! Hope you have fun, relax, & get a break from the usual chores too.

'Fess up time: I had 3 glasses wine and at least 10 mini-caramel bites last night Blush. I don't feel guilty today bizarrely, but actually think that it really wasn't worth it. I think I prefer the feeling of being in control about my food intake than the short-lived buzz of a chocolate binge. Needless to say didn't add my calories to mfp. Think that lot alone would be over 1200 cals !!! Plus I have major headache today. All that sugar rather a shock to the system.

JontyDoggle37 · 02/07/2015 12:16

Dammit. Snacking Fail. Doing the tesco shop ready for holiday, stomach rumbling as I had breakfast at 6am. I succumbed to a large sausage from the hot food counter. And then used the helpful bar code on it to add it to MFP, where it cheerfully told me the bloody thing was THREE HUNDRED CALORIES!!!!! Beware those sneaky sausages....

leesmum · 02/07/2015 13:14

I've felt a bit like that today Jonty been picking a bit....and had the most glorious crisp butty at lunchtime... Added it up and it means I'm having a mini tea tonight ....was worth it though Grin

imustbepatient · 02/07/2015 14:38

Hope you have a great meal out and holiday Jonty, sounds lovely.

Bath that sounds like a useful exercise though, in that now you know you're not missing out on that sort of stuff as you didn't really enjoy it that much. Hopefully it helps to take away any cravings / fantasizing.
And shows how much your taste buds have changed!.

Well done on staying the same Emz!

imustbepatient · 02/07/2015 14:42

Lees I think your post shows where trying to consistently get to, so that if I choose to have something like a chip butty because I really want it, then I should savor and enjoy it as an occasional thing but I shouldn't be wasting calories on stuff that doesn't even taste that good or is something I don't even really want.

Dogseggs · 02/07/2015 15:49

Agreed imust and leesmum, this has always been my downfall in the past: a pack of crisps here, sausage sandwich there, then wondering why I was putting weight on! The good thing about MFP is you can easily work out a way to counteract the fattening food by having something light the rest of the day. It's great for someone like me who hates missing out on anything delicious.

bath, easily done, and I should know Shock. that's a good sign though, if it wasn't as nice as you'd imagined.

Curiousrugbymum · 02/07/2015 19:40

Well my super early morning run yesterday bought me some contingency but I still managed to consume a quite frankly shameful amount of G&T based calories at my work summer party last night Blush. MFP should have a klaxon for when booze outnumbers good for the day Grin

On the upside I "drank clean" no mixing, g&t only and happily had no hangover...plus surely the limes count towards my 5 a day...

Back on the wagon tomorrow (wrote today off after Pizza Hut Blush)

Curiousrugbymum · 02/07/2015 19:41

And there is so much good news and inspiration on this thread - it really helps to report in and read through

imustbepatient · 02/07/2015 23:23

Absolutely love the idea that the limes in g&t could count towards my five a day! Grin

Emz449 · 03/07/2015 08:40

Sounds lovely Jonty! I hope we do go to Cornwall this summer would be so nice.

Weighed at 11 stone 12lbs this morning! 1 more pound till 3 stone and 12 until the next bracket. I am determined not to linger in the 11's like I did in the 12's.

I do have to say that MFP has completely changed my views on dieting. I have found this so much easier then any other 'diet' I have done. I don't really see it as a diet but more like something I can easily do everyday and make it work for my life. Why didn't I do it sooner!!

Oh I just wanted to say as well I don't know if anyone has used musclefood before? I have and thought it was great so have order the £75 new customer order which includes enough meat for 85 meals, I'll post the link for anyone interested. It's all quite lean meat too. I will be spending my Friday night bagging up portioned meat for the freezer Grin

Loving all the positive stories, everyone. Keep up the good work Smile

I have been 13 stone 10lb for over a week and only gone over my goal calories once (visit to Mum's, it was expired Wink) Mum said I looked smaller Hmm I told her I was exactly the same as when she had seen me last week. Then she fed me a roast dinner with strawberries, whipped cream and ice cream followed by Victoria sponge with butter icing. Refusing food is not an option without causing major offence Grin

Still on the bright side I haven't gained.

Right now I'd be happy to shift a lb.

Bathsheba3 · 04/07/2015 13:47

Hello all. How's everyone doing? I was very naughty again yesterday Blush but back on track today. A walk down the high street seeing all these lovely young things in their skimpy sundresses and shorts has made me even more determined.

I thought I could do just one flapjack bite yesterday, and one glass of wine the night before. No. Once I start, I really really can't stop. So I just have to say no to all sugar and naughty things. About to stick some veggies & a butternut squash in the oven to have with lentils and salmon, which should last a few days. Far more tasty and nutritious than quiche, pizza, and other stuff I have in fridge for rest of family.

All seems quiet? really do hope no-one else suffered with blip like me. But if so lets just draw line, dust off, and start again. I really need you all if I'm going to shift the next 1/2 stone.

WE CAN DO IT.

btw your mum sounds just like mine fortified. Sometimes I refuse food to test reaction, but it never ends well!

Bathsheba3 · 04/07/2015 13:52

ps - curious - am impressed you stuck to g'n't at party without paying the price. I hit the wine Thursday at a do which not only gave me munchies when I got home (having eaten out) but I was so hungover yesterday I hit the sugar. Oh and crisps. All the stuff I've managed to resist so well during June. tut tut.

So to anyone begin really good but scales not moving - they will. And anything is better than them going back up

Emz449 · 04/07/2015 17:18

Hi all! Sorry haven't been posting as much. Not having wifi makes it a bit more difficult but.... I have officially lost three stone! Weighed in this morning at 11 stone 11lbs! So happy with that. I am going to a friends house for dinner tonight, but I have about 1300 calories to play with, I've walked for about an hour and a half today and had poached eggs and bacon with a sandwich thin for lunch which has kept me full for the day along with a kitkat Grin I think I'll have a few drinks tonight too to celebrate.

I hope everyone is getting on ok, you definitely can do it Bath Flowers

Oh for anyone that's interested my meat came yesterday and I've bagged it all up into portions, I've got about 80! So about 93p a portion, very happy with it

Hi all. Bath I feel awful about coming on this thread because I've had a bad week calorie-wise (again).

It all started badly 2 weeks when I was horribly constipated and heavy and felt it wasn't working. Then I realised it was stress/anxiety when the thing causing it was dealt with and I then 'instantly' lost over half a kilo Smile. I also feel a lot happier.

But then I was out meeting a friend on Thursday (read: many pints of beer and pork scratchings), worked till midnight last night and all day today as well (on top of my usually 50 hours) so I'm just too tired.

I'm going to jump back on the wagon but less MFP (because it's not working on my phone anymore for some reason - does anyone else have this?) but more eating properly and cutting out starches, plus upping the movement.

I'm on holidays in 2 weeks time so I'm planning to use the next 3 weeks to get back on it properly, and get some fitness in, and then I'm going on a 200mile walk. I fantasise about being healthy, toned and strong.

Emz I'm going to check out that meat supply. I lean towards a paleo-style diet so it looks interesting. Thanks.
