MFP to lose weight

Emz449 · 30/05/2015 18:31

Hello! I'm starting this thread to make myself accountable and as motivation. I've been using MFP for 16 days now and have lost 6lbs, really enjoying it and finding it so easy to use. I'll be posting weigh ins as and when as I am a frequent weigher! Hopefully the loses will continue Grin I started in Janaury as 14 stone 11lbs Shock but I've become complacent

Starting weight - 14 stone 11lbs
Current weight - 12 stone 5lbs
Goal weight - Currently 10 stone 11lbs but I think that I will aim lower once I reach that

On 1,450 a day with an active lifestyle. Would be great to see other peoples loses and experiences with MFP, annoyed I didn't start it sooner!

Well done dogs! Can't wait till I got down to the next bracket!

Emz definitely enjoy this time with your boyfriend, make the most of it so you have the lovely memories to carry you through the time he is away.

610 sounds like a fair assumption to me by the way!

Leesmum I'll be trying my hardest not to let it all unravel this weekend too even though we are hosting a family bbq on the Saturday

Bathsheba, feel free to completely disregard this if it sounds a daft idea to you, but something I've been trying is making a list of cheap little things I'd like (I used the style and beauty thread about products under £10 that work and made a list of the bits I wanted to try) and whenever I've lost a pound or had a hard day I buy something from the list, like the £1.50 white eye liner pencil I bought from superdrug yesterday! Obviously that's a money dependent solution (and if beauty products aren't really that inspirational you could substitute something else you like)

Would something like that work for you? It's just a little thing I know, but I am trying to find ways of dealing with rewards / needing a lift that aren't food related.

Bathsheba3 · 24/06/2015 23:06

Ahh, thanks for thinking of me imust. Very thoughtful. I def do need a plan of some sort. Sounds like a nice idea. Probably what I do need to do 1st is to actually USE the beauty bits I already have as a treat. Never take time to do stuff like nail varnish, or put body lotion on. Seem to always be in a rush.

A bit nervous of the scales tomorrow, but will go for it. Hope everyone had a good day today.

Bathsheba3 · 25/06/2015 07:58

I braved it and pleasantly surprised - down to 12st 2 1/4. Hurray. Am wearing some tight cropped trousers today that I couldn't do up 3 weeks ago Smile

Hope everyone else are doing OK - WE CAN DO THIS

leesmum · 25/06/2015 08:30

Well done Bathsheba3 that's fantastic, really pleased for you Smile

cheapandcheerful · 25/06/2015 08:34

I'm off to the shops today to buy some scales that actually give me an accurate reading...

Emz449 · 25/06/2015 09:38

Well done Bathsheba that's a great result Star

I was still 12 stone this morning, can't even guess what I will be tomorrow but will take it on the chin and just crack on with the healthy way of eating for the rest of the weekend and hope Monday is kind!

Well done Bathsheba you are a Star

I saw my DM. She told me I look as fat as ever. Well I did ask for her opinion and she is right. Still I feel better and that is important too Smile

JontyDoggle37 · 25/06/2015 11:33

Bathsheba you're on for a race to the 11's, we're neck and neck!Grin
Having said that, I didn't weigh this morning as unexpectedly had friends round last night and ended up drinking a bottle and a half of cider...I used all my activity calories up, and maybe s little but more...so aiming for well within target today.

JontyDoggle37 · 25/06/2015 11:35

fortified that's horrible of your mum to say it like that, even if she couldn't see s difference yet. You're doing great, stick with us and we'll all help each other to the finish.

Emz449 · 25/06/2015 15:48

Oh that's a bit harsh from your mum, she should be supporting you, you're doing great Smile I do empathise though, my mother seems to lack any sort of filter when it comes to things like that.

I'm really not sure I'm going to reach the 11's by July, there are 3/4 more days after tonight's meal so going to give it my all and pray for the loss to happen! I just don't want there to be a massive water/glycogen gain from the food tonight. I think my plan is to stay as low carb as possible for my evening meals, literally chicken and salad and just hope for the best.

Getting off a stop earlier on my train home to walk the rest of the way home - damage limitation! Still 944 in the red after I've entered my whole days food including the meal tonight, but I still have a half an hour walk after work to the station and then about 30 minutes to my house once I get off and then half an hour there and back to the restaurant

Emz449 · 25/06/2015 15:49

I have to ask as well, do you find yourself getting a bit obsessed with the calories of everything? I literally plan 3 or 4 days in advance and beat myself up if I go into the red on the rare occasion, tonight for example I'm so excited for it but in the back of my mind I'm just thinking about the calories!

Bathsheba3 · 25/06/2015 16:32

Emz - Please please don't stress. You have a lot going on this week, lots of meals out, and important people to be saying goodbye to. If you don't make 11's, you have a focus for next week. None of us here are going to judge you, and you mustn't be disappointed in yourself. Every time I open up this page I see your headline - i.e. your starting weight of 14 stone 11 lbs. To get to 12 (11 13 or 12 2) is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. Enjoy the next few days.

Fortified - my mother is extremely judgemental too. And always right. And unsupportive. I love proving her wrong. Bet she so can see the change in your body shape, she's just perhaps a bit green? (although I could completely wrong).

Jonty - ha ha! Well, I can match your cider with 10 brazil nuts, troffed just now in one go. The healthy snack. Only not if you can't stick to your allocated 5. just as well I didn't finish the bag

peacoat · 25/06/2015 17:15

Hi everyone.

I'm still a bit blocked up so I will try some dried apricots or those suggestions - thanks.

I bombed last night. BF was offered his first choice uni placement at interview so thought I'd encourage him to celebrate by buying a bottle of prosecco, and then another....I think I might have a problem. Anyway hungover today. I didn't really eat very much at all (hence might have been more affected) and not eaten much today either. I think either my stomach is shrinking or else I'm too blocked up to have an appetite.

Anyway I haven't dared to weigh myself.

Emz449 · 25/06/2015 17:21

I've also found fybogel to be quite good peacoat

Thanks Bathsheba Flowers I'm going to have a few drinks and that should relax me Grin

fortifiedwithtea · 25/06/2015 21:15

Emz That sounds like a punishing long walk, I hope you don't tire yourself out for the meal.

Peacoat is Lactolosse available without prescription? It works if you take it with food. I finally had success yesterday, 4 days without a poo, not good.

Thanks for all your comments but I'm well used to my mum, she's a very negative person in all areas, its just her way. She brought a packet of Mr Kipling Bakewell slices too because she can't drink tea without something to eat. Yes , I was tempted into one but I managed to stop at one Smile

imustbepatient · 25/06/2015 22:21

Well done about stopping at one fortified!

And fantastic on the trousers Bathsheba!

Got some very sad news today, as a much loved family member has died. Feel shell shocked and so very sad even though we knew it was coming. I've managed to keep on track with today's food so far and avoided the wine which is currently calling to me from the fridge

Just trying to focus on the great memories of him.

Sorry, maudlin post.

Hope your dinner is going well Emz.

Bathsheba3 · 25/06/2015 22:30

so sorry to hear that imust.Flowers. Sad days ahead for you. Hope you can rest this evening

peacoat · 25/06/2015 22:32

I"m going to try to get those suggestions - thanks everyone. I'm miserable, and losing motivation to eat less because I feel awful and heavy.

Imust so sorry to hear that Flowers

leesmum · 25/06/2015 23:00

Imust really sorry to hear your sad news, life is so unfair sometimes Sad peacoat don't be too disheartened ....tomorrow is Friday... The day it normally goes tits up for me...must be strong Grin

Emz449 · 26/06/2015 00:14

I'm sorry to hear that imust i hope you're ok Flowers

Will post a bit more tomorrow about tonight Smile

JontyDoggle37 · 26/06/2015 07:02

imust so sorry to hear your news
Emz hope dinner went well, and stop calorie obsessing!
Pea bearing in mind you've been posting all week about 'blocked up', it's no wonder you feel heavy and awful. That's no reflection, though, on how well you're doing on your weight loss. Can you get out and do some exercise, it usually helps lift my mood as it's an instant achievement (and it will help get other things moving too!) Also, take all your measurements (hips, bum, waist, biceps, thigh), then you can watch those go down as well as the weight in the scales. Being able to say 'I've lost three inches off my waist' feels pretty good!
Well, weighed myself this morning and I'm down to 12st 1, another pound gone, and now I'm certain I can get into the 11's by 1st July! Today is only the 26th, so that's another 4 days to lose 1.5lbs. It's great having these short-tee goals, it really makes me focus.
For those of us aiming for the 11's right now, what do you think our July goal should be? July is 4 and a half weeks long, so maybe aiming at 2lbs per full week would be a 9lb goal? Doesn't get us to a nice Magic number but it would mean we'd be down to 11st 3, which would be amazing! Thoughts?

Bathsheba3 · 26/06/2015 07:56

Well done Jonty! Whoop whoop.

cheapandcheerful · 26/06/2015 07:56

Imust Flowers

Well my news of the day is that it turns out my dodgy old bathroom scales were waaaaaay out and I have magically lost 10lb overnight Grin

I have adjusted my goals on mfp to lose 1lb per week rather than 1.5lb and it has given me a new daily target of 1470cal so I'm happy today!

Curiousrugbymum · 26/06/2015 08:13

Please can I join you?

Not a lot to lose here, aiming for under 8 1/2 stone from 9 but snacking , emotional chocolate and wine are my downfall! Hoping MFP will give me more will power and stop me from undoing my good work at the gym in the coffee shop at work Blush

JontyDoggle37 · 26/06/2015 08:22

cheap that's fantastic! I lost that much giving birth, lol!
