MFP to lose weight

Emz449 · 30/05/2015 18:31

Hello! I'm starting this thread to make myself accountable and as motivation. I've been using MFP for 16 days now and have lost 6lbs, really enjoying it and finding it so easy to use. I'll be posting weigh ins as and when as I am a frequent weigher! Hopefully the loses will continue Grin I started in Janaury as 14 stone 11lbs Shock but I've become complacent

Starting weight - 14 stone 11lbs
Current weight - 12 stone 5lbs
Goal weight - Currently 10 stone 11lbs but I think that I will aim lower once I reach that

On 1,450 a day with an active lifestyle. Would be great to see other peoples loses and experiences with MFP, annoyed I didn't start it sooner!

Hi, can I join in? I would like to lose a stone. Am 5ft 4 in and I weigh 9st 9lb, I know its not a lot but I can feel it, especially round my waist and everything is getting tighter Sad so I'm starting MFP tomorrow Smile

peacoat · 21/06/2015 22:55

Good luck for the week everyone! Hi fortified and leesmum.

I avoided junk food. I did not fail Grin. Thanks for the support.

fortifiedwithtea · 22/06/2015 07:43

Well done for avoiding the junk food peacoat Smile

Monday morning everyone, stay will-powered, we can do this Smile

JontyDoggle37 · 22/06/2015 08:10

Well I've lost 3/4 of the random lb that went on yesterday, so back at 12st 4. Been for my run already and super determined to stick to calorie goal every day this week - I am going to nail it for June!!!

Emz449 · 22/06/2015 08:37

Well done pea for your strong resolve!

Welcome leesmum Smile

Haven't weighed myself this morning but will tomorrow, determined to get into the 11's by next Monday despite the difficult week ahead

Hello - I've just started back on MFP and my buggyfit coach advised me to use the 'nutrition macros' so that of 2000 calories - 40% must be carbs, 30% fat and 30% protein. And it's really really hard to hit those targets - I hadn't realised carbs were in so much (I feel that I'm only just starting to finally get nutrition). I found that even if I max on protein like a Chicken wrap - the wrap bit would mean that my carbs would always be pretty high. She also said resistance training was key to weight loss. It's all very hard tho with dc2 just 9 months and not sleeping through but my 'breakthrough' has been green shakes in my nutriblender - with kale and hemp protein powder plus a few frozen berries n banana or avocado - for breakfast and at lunchtime. A 4.30 am start today. I'm not going to last.......

If anyone has any ideas on easy lean protein or low carb protein powders - pls share!

I've lost 20 pounds so far (I'm so pleased!) and aiming for another 7 pounds to get to pre baby weight of 10.5.

So can I join in?? Do I add you as friends on MFP? (Sorry dullened by absolute exhaustion today with 3 year old rather violently playing with baby on bed next to me. Coffee!)

Good luck everyone today! X

Bathsheba3 · 22/06/2015 10:28

Morning all. I'm still at 12 4 too, same as jonty. 4.5 lbs loss in 9 days to get to the 11's is a bit of a tall order, but I'm going to aim for it, without being silly.

So glad you resisted Peacoat. Work / study stress is awful. If I have a big deadline looming I don't have an off button for food or wine. So you have done brilliantly.

Welcome to everyone new, with lots of enthusiasm! Support safety in numbers.

Emz - amazing food planning yesterday! Sounds as though you have a busy / emotional week. Is your BF moving away?

Hi Newquay. Great loss so far! My personal view is to not be so restricted by numbers & proportions, but to just eat balanced and sensibly. I've cut out sugar and carbs for the time being - so my 1200 cals/day allows me to eat good proteins (fish, chicken) and loads of veggies. And then there are good fats and bad fats. Personally I wouldn't touch any powders or supplements - I would rather fresh nutritious food - but everyone are different. I remember the days of toddler & baby. Exhausting, but you never sit down - but good calorie burning too!

Newquay · 22/06/2015 10:42

Thanks Bathsheba - I think u r right about the protein powder really - I think I just got carried away once in Holland n Barrett as it was on offer and I was talked into it: it tastes foul!

1200 Is very impressive! Good going!

cheapandcheerful · 22/06/2015 11:43

Well I weighed myself this morning and have no idea if I have lost any due to crap scales. I think I need to buy some digital ones...

Emz449 · 22/06/2015 13:35

Yeah he's going to South America as part of his year abroad for his uni course Sad so quite down about that at the moment, will just be very strange without him, we've lived together for pretty much all of the 3 years we have been together, he's my best friend. I'll be going to see him a lot though and he will be back at times too like Christmas. Planning to keep busy though with the gym and learning to drive too. Plus the diet and MFP keeps me occupied! When I go to see him In November is when I plan to be at goal Grin

OP posts:
JontyDoggle37 · 22/06/2015 14:44

Emz that's a great goal. I need an event to aim for really. Based on losing a pound a week I'd finish in February but I'd like to get there a lot sooner than that. My wedding day was such a motivator. Something around late October/early November ideally. Hmm...

peacoat · 22/06/2015 17:21

Hi everyone! Thanks for your support with those pesky cravings I had. Lots of good stuff happening here. I agree, great goal, Emz.

Newquay I look at the macros too, but I'm usually not really hitting them. Too much fat (I'm at 20%, usually eat around 35%) and not enough protein usually. Carbs are slyly very easy to get in aren't they! So not really any good advice I'm afraid, other than experimenting until you find a system that works. 20 pounds is excellent! Congrats.

I'm down another 0.3kg this morning so a total of 1kg in the past two days (since I started again). I plan to be at goal around Christmas although it's my birthday late October, so a few stone by then would be great.

imustbepatient · 22/06/2015 18:20

Well done peacoat for resisting the cheeseballs. I remember those!

I was a lot less successful yesterday after a tad too much wine. I fell into a big bowl of salt and vinegar crisps, like a complete muppet.

My food (and alcohol) was good the rest of the week and weekend though so hopefully I can still get a good loss by my weigh in day of Friday, as I am going to have really positive healthy week. And lay off the wine!

Well done everyone, onwards and downwards!

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 22/06/2015 19:30

Aaargh - had a 'working lunch' today (couldn't escape - big meeting with lots of senior managers). So I ate more calories than usual (posh sandwiches = lots of carbs), but at the same time I was hungry all afternoonHmm

I think I might end up eating some of my exercise calories today...

Emz449 · 22/06/2015 20:31

I was in the exactly the same boat today Harry! I'm over the set calories but still in the green due to the exercise calories thankfully! The way I'm seeing it is its probably still a lot less then I would have been eating beforehand, having a few slightly lower calorie days to make up for it, although another lunch on Wednesday!

Well done pea for your loss!

I'm sure you will still see a loss this week imustbepatient good luck!

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 22/06/2015 20:34

Glad it isn't just me Emz - I sincerely hope I don't have any more this week must check diary

Really fancy a drink this evening. Will have to have a look at how today's calories stand and see if it is possible.

JontyDoggle37 · 22/06/2015 20:54

I am having one two glasses of wine this evening and hang the consequences. In my defence, I just got told today my job no longer exists and so while I'm on maternity leave I'm having to go through consultation, maybe taking another role or taking redundancy. So I feel wine is in order!

Emz449 · 22/06/2015 21:06

Sorry to hear that Jonty, wine is definitely needed I think! Were you expecting it?

Yeah I've worked out what I'm having for breakfast and dinner on Wednesday and I have about 450 left for lunch, think I can work with that. Hopefully will be walking lots too Smile

cheapandcheerful · 22/06/2015 21:10

I have been an emotional wreck today (no real reason - just feeling like I need some tlc...maybe totm-related) so I'm pleased that there's room in my calories for a hot chocolate this evening.

I'm also planning on dragging my arse out of bed early for a run tomorrow morning in the hope that that might snap me out of my sorry mood.

imustbepatient · 22/06/2015 21:33

Thanks Emz, you're doing so well with all the exercise, a great way to counter balance any extra food from work events etc!

I'm going to get out for my run tomorrow too cheapand, hopefully I'll manage to increase the distance a bit as well. I.e. lurch an extra block or two...

Really sorry to hear that Jonty, what a rubbish thing to happen whilst on mat leave. Enjoy your glass of wine or several Fingers crossed something good comes out of it all, when you look back on this time. ThanksThanks

Emz449 · 22/06/2015 21:35

It's just walking imustbepatient, can't do much else at the moment because of my back but my walk to and from work is about an hour and twenty minutes, can't drive so I have to do it Grin good thing really!

OP posts:
fortifiedwithtea · 23/06/2015 00:01

I chose to eat 50g of mixed nuts and dried fruit and it cost me 250 calories. Completely blow my goals so I needed to earn some calories.

Teen DD1 joined a gym last week and I persuaded her to come for a walk with me and shoot some hoops at our nearby playing field. We were out an hour and had a lot of fun together, got drenched in the rain on the way home and saw an amazing rainbow. DD1 asked, could we do it again Smile

Ended the day with calories to spare.

JontyDoggle37 · 23/06/2015 05:39

Morning. Weighed in at 12st 3.5, so 0.5lbs down. Also did my measurements this morning and I'm another inch down overall, so the toning is working too.
That's given me a bit of a boost at least.

Emz I knew they were planning some restructuring, I didn't know specifically that meant my whole team would be disbanded and all our jobs taken away.....

peacoat · 23/06/2015 06:29

Jonty that's awful news to be delivered whilst on Mat leave. It feels quite heartless, generally, doesn't it. Let's hope it opens the doors to better things. Well done on your other loss though!

cheap I hope you're feeling better today.

I'm up again this morning, but I am horribly constipated Blush so I'm eating grapes and drinking strong coffee in an attempt to move things along. I had a huge dinner as I was starving (and stressed about essay. Have realised I eat when I'm stressed) but still was around 1600cals all day and it was all Slimming World plan, so it shouldn't have scuppered me that much.

Have a good day everyone.

Emz449 · 23/06/2015 07:58

That's awful Jonty, I'll have my fingers crossed for you.

Weighed this morning at 12 stone still, hoping to see some movement before Thursday ideally Smile
