MFP to lose weight

Emz449 · 30/05/2015 18:31

Hello! I'm starting this thread to make myself accountable and as motivation. I've been using MFP for 16 days now and have lost 6lbs, really enjoying it and finding it so easy to use. I'll be posting weigh ins as and when as I am a frequent weigher! Hopefully the loses will continue Grin I started in Janaury as 14 stone 11lbs Shock but I've become complacent

Starting weight - 14 stone 11lbs
Current weight - 12 stone 5lbs
Goal weight - Currently 10 stone 11lbs but I think that I will aim lower once I reach that

On 1,450 a day with an active lifestyle. Would be great to see other peoples loses and experiences with MFP, annoyed I didn't start it sooner!

Weekly weigh in this morning - I lost 1.5lb last week. I was over my calorie limit on a couple of days. I find that I'm fine if I've got some exercise calories as a buffer, but struggle to stay within my limit on days I don't exercise.

Onwards to the next week...

Emz449 · 21/06/2015 10:24

Well done everyone, Bathsheba great that your clothes are feeling loose too, your 1lb on is probably like my mystery one that appeared the other day out of no where Smile

My boyfriend has suggested that we go to this gourmet burger restaurant for lunch today with his family, the absolute swine! Will have a burger of course but get a side salad instead of fries or something else, in all honestly would rather not go but it would be rude not to.

In other news I weighed in at 12 stone on the dot this morning, just the one more lb to the 11 stone bracket!

Any loss is a move in the right direction.

Emz grrr! can you skip the bun? Or just eat one half of the bun?

imustbepatient · 21/06/2015 11:44

Well done everyone on the scale and non scale victories.

Emz I'm sure you'll be spurred on by your weigh in to choose good things at the restaurant. The 11s are almost yours!

DivaDroid · 21/06/2015 11:48

Can I join in please? Just started MFP today and have 3st 6lb to lose SadBlush
Your stories are great motivation for me Smile

peacoat · 21/06/2015 13:06

Welcome Diva. Don't be Blush, we all have weight to lose. I'd like to drop 4 stone but I need to drop at least 3 to get near my healthy weight range.

DivaDroid · 21/06/2015 13:22

Thanks Pea.That 3.5 stone is to get to the high end of ideal thoughShock

peacoat · 21/06/2015 13:34

Yeah, me too

peacoat · 21/06/2015 13:35

One day at a time though is what I'm telling myself. I've even cut up post it notes and written "Day 1" etc and stuck them up so I can can rip them down with relish until the new way of eating becomes a habit Grin.

financialwizard · 21/06/2015 14:36

Well done everyone. I started MFP in January, weighing in at over 14st 7lb and am now sitting at 10st 12b. I am currently on 1200 calories per day but I run 3 x a week and kick box on a Thursday which burns off over 1000 calories. I am under most days, although now I find I can't eat anything too fatty or it upsets my tummy.

You all sound like you are working hard, so keep it up. Good luck, I hope you all achieve what you want to. I have another 12lb to go and I'll be happy.

Sansarya · 21/06/2015 16:26

How do you all log things when you have no idea what the calorific content is? Today I went out for lunch and had a crab and fennel filo tart, plus three delicious salads of various roasted veg with tahini dressing. I don't have the foggiest how many calories there were in that but I'm guessing quite a bit! Guess it's a cuppa soup dinner for me tonight, though I did do an hour of spin class.

JontyDoggle37 · 21/06/2015 17:37

Sansarya I just search for things with similar names, i.e. Crab filo tart and go from that
Emz massive congrats on that extra pound, you're going to smash that june goal!
I'm having a bit of a bleugh day...I also gained the unexplained pound when I weighed this morning, which is especially galling as I've been very good food wise all week and been running four times! Oh well, new day tomorrow, but getting into the 11's by 1 July is looking a little tricky right now....

Dogseggs · 21/06/2015 18:54

Hello, hope you all had good weekend. Welcome to all the new people too, I hope you get lots of inspiration from this thread - I certainly have.

I have stalled over the weekend somehow: I haven't gone down in weight for four days now, despite staying well under the limit and doing lots of walking. Does the weight go down in fits and starts, do you think? I hope so! I resisted buying some reduced chocolate eclairs on my Saturday shop, and went home for a bowl of blueberries and strawberries instead, so I hope it pays off eventually - ah well. Slowly does it.

fortifiedwithtea · 21/06/2015 19:14

Hello, Can I join in. I read about MFP here and signed up last Saturday.

Suffered with painful feet for more than 2 years and got myself into a downward spiral. It hurts to move so didn't move, got fatter and less mobile. Feet getting ever more painful with weight gain.

Final straw, weighed myself last Saturday, 14 stone 4lb and made up my mind; I had to take control.

MFP says to lose 2lb a week my goal calories are 1200 a day based on me doing no exercise. So far I have lost 5lb.

I am hungry all the time but feel less sluggish and less tired. I am noticing the reduction in sugar intake. I used to be exhausted after lunch and crash out for hours.

Sorry the next confession is TMI. Yesterday the world fell out my bum and I blocked the loo Blush. It took 6 flushes and 2 buckets of water to clear Shock and the smell was putrid. I think I can safely say my body did its own detox. I researched that sugar causes constipation so cutting down certainly had the reverse effect!

Hoping to get to 10 stone eventually Smile

Bathsheba3 · 21/06/2015 19:18

Hello everyone! Jonty - me too. But i reckon the running / exercise is building-up muscle too, rather than just burning off fat. So that must be a good thing, even if it's not showing up on the scales. It will do too, I'm sure of that.

Eclairs vs berries. You did very well *Dogseggs!

Emz449 · 21/06/2015 19:42

Hopefully Jonty!

Ending today on 1675, tracked everything and earnt 500+ in exercise calories. Really enjoyed my meal and had a burger with a salad and went for a long walk with the family. Had a lovely day! Might not weigh myself tomorrow in case it shows a gain but back on track tomorrow. Hope everyone has had a good weekend Smile

Help! I'm craving badly, but not sure what. Pretty sure I could murder a bag of cheese balls. I've been clean of cheese balls now for around 6 weeks. One cheese ball could ruin me. I can almost taste it.

What do you do to get rid of cravings? My stomach actually hurts. Have I had too many vegetables?

Bathsheba3 · 21/06/2015 20:10

Oh no! Stop - don't do it peacoat. Could you have a drink instead - slice lemon in hot water, a slimline tonic water? Don't raid the kitchen.

What's driving the craving? bored, or genuinely hungry? or need some satisfaction? (food satisfaction Wink!) or have you had a glass of wine?

Do try and be strong. You CAN do it, and feel so much better in the morning..

Bathsheba3 · 21/06/2015 20:11

ps - what on earth are cheese balls? the mini mozorella ones?

peacoat · 21/06/2015 20:15

That's it! I'm bored and stressed. I have a uni assignment due on Tuesday night and cannot bring myself to start it. I have written around 18000 words in the past academic year and this is the last one and I'm over it.

Not had any wine . I'm trying to raid the kitchen but I've shopped too cleverly and there's nothing to raid.

I'm going to make a pineapple and strawberry smoothy.

cheapandcheerful · 21/06/2015 20:29

Pineapple and strawberry smoothie sounds goooooood peacoat!

I am 52cal over today so that's me done for the evening. I'm stuffed from dinner though so that's good!

I was just thinking...is there a way of sharing recipes on mfp at all?

peacoat · 21/06/2015 20:33

Cheese balls, like Wotsits Blush

Emz449 · 21/06/2015 20:35

Go peacoat! You can do it! just think after this one that will be it Smile

Also intrigued as to what cheese balls are, they sound amazing!

Been thinking about my week and it might be fairly challenging, I have a meeting at work tomorrow and lunch is provided, then in London all day Wednesday; again lunch provided. I've tried to combat this by buying three of the fuller for longer meals for dinner which are all under 400 calories. Thursday is when I'm going out for dinner with my boyfriend and I'm really looking forward to it. The food is amazing there! I have Friday off and Saturday is moving day and will be emotional, please wish me luck!

Hi fortified, welcome! I bet you weighed a bit less after that episode Grin

It's difficult when you have mobility problems, isn't it? I think my weight gain started when my joints were getting worse and I had to slow right down. Is there any other way you can be active? I am lucky I can still swim and walk at least, even if running and jumping are out.

It's great you have noticed being less sluggish already. I have found getting out of bed in the mornings much easier for the same reason, I have stopped with the cakes and pastries, and it's paying off already.

fortifiedwithtea · 21/06/2015 21:20

Thanks for the welcome Dogseggs Yes my 'episode' had an effect the scales WinkGrin my teen DD couldn't stop laughing when I called out for the bucket.

Formal exercise is out for me but I force myself to a slow walk to the local shops most days. Any excuse, the other day I put my winter coat into the dry cleaners. MFP says 20 minutes slow walking uses 73 calories. That means I already have my reason to walk Tuesday - to get my coat back again Smile
