2015 Mumsnet Weightloss Club anyone?

HaveTeaWillSurvive · 01/01/2015 09:03

This is it I really need to get fit and slim down this year, my son is getting faster all the time and I feel like I'm letting him down being overweight as I can't keep up.

I've done slimming clubs (WW and SS) in the past and really like the support but I've always drifted off after a bad week or two and begun making excuses not to go. There's no way I'm giving up mumsnet and I find it easier to be brutally honest online so would anyone like to join me for support, tip sharing and the all important weekly weigh in?

I'm starting on Monday 5th as I find it easier to be distracted from food when I'm at work and will have finished the Xmas chocs by then and will be using MFP and my shiny new fitbit to track but anything goes on this thread it's all about the support!

Hopefully someone will come keep me company Xmas Grin

I'm in.

5'4" 11st7lb. Need to lose a stone and a half ideally but I'd be happy with a stone and really want to get down to below 11st as soon as poss. I've put on half a stone each year for the last three years and it has to stop!

2 DDs and I really don't want them to see me as being fat or being on a diet or having problems with weight.

My plan is

No snacking and if I do snack only fruit.

Low cal lunches

Smaller portions

Run twice a week minimum

Davina three times a week

Aim for 10000 steps a day (have got a pedometer on my phone and it has shocked me in the last month how inactive I am. It will be hard to achieve this when at work but at least 5000 then.)

fibromum · 04/01/2015 18:21

Can I join? I am 4ft 10 and on Friday I was 9st 11.

I have never dieted before as never needed to as was always slim but sonething has changed and I need to get shot of the excess weight I have gained.

I am doing MFP and sticking to 1200 calories. Day 3 for me. Day 1 I went over by 17 calories but yesyerday I was under by 54 so will see how today goes. I havr upped my water intake amd today I have had no bread and I habe just weighed myself and I am 9st 9 Smile

Back to work tomorrow and will be going for a walk at lunch time. Lots of steep hills round my work so that should be a good work out.

Rinkydinkypink · 04/01/2015 18:36

Thanks for your help. I had homemade veg soup a slice and half of homemade brown bread toasted and small pate and some ham for my tea. Haven't broken yet but the no carb thing hasn't happened.

Back to work tomorrow so eggs for b/fast, homemade soup for lunch and SW camp fire stew with greens for tea. Fingers crossed work isn't invaded with Christmas sweets.

loveableshoulder · 04/01/2015 18:55

IHope I think it is hidden from the timeline - I bloody hope so anyway!

Sounds like the changes you'll make might bring pleasant results before you feel like you've really begun trying :)

Well done Rinky

Thanks for reminding me, chickens. I must get a pedometer.

youllshootyoureyeout · 04/01/2015 19:53

Not doing very well in the eating department, have had 3 parties this week (2 for my dd which I catered for), so have been picking at rubbish. Made a roast today, but had too big a portion Blush.

Can't wait til Tuesday when the kids go back and I will have time and space to exercise. Feeling extremely flabby!

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 05/01/2015 00:11

I've just weighed myself. I'm shocked and disgusted with myself.

345.6Ib.

This would be the point I dissolve into tears and comfort eat and tell myself the scales must be wrong.

But they're not...and that's ok because I'm doing something about it and although I'm so scared of the pressure and commitment and how fucking hard it will be, I'm more scared of dying of obesity related diseases.

The only way is up (except for the scales...down down they go!)

Something that thrilled me today though, I decided to buy a diary for work but also to record my weight loss each week...just saw the word "diary" and grabbed one...wasn't until I was writing in my starting weight that I noticed it said "A little diary for a BIG 2015" and it will be! It will be the year we all change

loveableshoulder · 05/01/2015 06:34

Just 10% weight loss can make a real change to your health, Lego, and you could do that in a couple of months :)

HaveTeaWillSurvive · 05/01/2015 07:46

You can do it Lego , we're all here to support through the wobbles!

chubbytubbybyebye · 05/01/2015 08:01

Morning ladies, I lost 2 stone last year with mumsnet help. Round 2 here we go.

15 stone, loss 0

petalsandstars · 05/01/2015 08:17

Okay I'm starting at 11st 8lb have had a crumpet and two boiled eggs for breakfast plus half a small croissant. Kitchen is now closed.

lisbapalea · 05/01/2015 08:25

Just weighed in. 14st on the nose.

As from now it is no snacks between meals, no chocolate, sweets, cakes, crisps or biscuits. Smaller portions of everything too, and no booze until 24th Jan. No idea what kind of rate of loss to expect but I hope to have lost at least half a stone by the 24th (dh's 40th party).

Good luck to everyone else getting on the wagon today....

ButterflyOfFreedom · 05/01/2015 09:13

Official first weigh-in for me:

11 stone 7 lbs

I was very surprised as I was 11.11 when I weighed myself a few days ago??! I have been trying to be healthier since 2nd Jan and have been good but I think most of the 'weight loss' must be water or something???!!

Obviously not complaining though!!

lk26 · 05/01/2015 09:24

13.3 st here. Sob. But onwards and upwards. Fat free Greek yoghurt and summer fruits for breakfast.
Off for a walk to town now and made carrot and pepper soup for lunch.
Decided going to take it 1/2 st at a time as less daunting.
Hope everyone has a good day.

bakingtins · 05/01/2015 09:58

9st 11lb today, was 9st13 on 1/1 but since my weight fluctuates by a few lb anyway not getting too excited. Target is 9 stone.

Tortoise · 05/01/2015 10:13

Can I join in please? Bit late to the thread but desperately need to lose weight.
I'm 36, 5ft 9. 4 dc aged between 10 & 17.
Will weigh myself tomorrow morning but am around 18 st Sad.
I was thinking about trying 5.2 eating or just generally cutting down.

I walk around 4 miles a day just doing the school run. Have 3 dogs who rarely get walked because I'm lazy and fat! So I'm going to try and start adding in a mid day walk with the dogs.

Breakfast today was a 30g serving of ready brek with ss milk & a teaspoon of sugar.

Saw some nice looking recipes on hairy bikers last night, never watched them before! So am thinking about getting one of their cookbooks. Also have a slow cooker so can use that too.

MsRainbow · 05/01/2015 12:28

I started on the 1/1 so today is day 5 for me. I'm doing low carb. I haven't worried too much about how much I've been eating yet, was just keen to wean myself off carbs (so I've been tucking into the leftover cheese whilst everyone has been finishing off the sweet stuff). However now that we're back into the school/ work routine I'm going to cut down on the snacking. I also need to increase the amount of water I'm drinking, I always struggle with that. I think I'm going to set a timer on my phone to remind me .
Good luck everyone.

Tortoise · 05/01/2015 13:34

Yummy cheese omelette for lunch, something I've not had for years.
And a naughty pk of crisps!

26Point2Miles · 05/01/2015 13:50

1/1 14st 10
5/1 14st 6

Delighted with that! Portion control and limiting carbs at present

Exercise has been running. Davinas new dvd and my cross trainer. Was also back at outdoor bootcamp this morning, our trainer made us move and she moved me into the advanced side as I'm now fitter than she's ever seen me...was tough but then she's always tough. I'm on a poster for her with the before/after pics. Feel a fraud for putting some back on!

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 05/01/2015 14:36

Well we're off to a great fucking start here. ..am 99% sure I've broken my toe and it hurts to fuck er!

youbethemummylion · 05/01/2015 14:45

1/1 10st 11lb
5/1 10st 8lb

I'm happy with that as I'm doing 5:2 and hadn't done a fasting day when I weighed myself this morning. My fasting days are today and tomorrow so hopefully I manage to stick to them!

Tortoise · 05/01/2015 16:31

Oh know IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece, I hope it's not broken.

AlwaysWashing · 05/01/2015 17:15

5'6 and 12.11 here. My youngest is 2 now so no more excuses left!
Me & DH are 5:2ing, cutting portion sizes and upping the exercise (from nothing really to a good brisk walk at least every other day). Although it doesn't sound much I figured if we start slow and do this for January then reassess for Feb with regards to gym memberships etc we might have a hope of succeeding?
I have purchased a new pair of trainers and am drinking 2lt of water a day.
Grin Feeling positive Grin

Rinkydinkypink · 05/01/2015 18:54

Had an ok day. Broke and had a small piece of Christmas cake at 3.30 but that's been my only snack and treat in last 3 days. Have had major carb/sugar cravings today so had an apple after my tea.

Frankly I could devour a box of quality street and big bag of walkers but then I'll be far forever Smile

lucylou1977 · 05/01/2015 19:00

Ouch IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece - that sounds painful! How do you manage that?

I'm on my first day back on calorie counting and its going well so far. I'm breastfeeding though so can allow myself extra calories, which makes it a whole lot easier. Most of the Xmas chocolate is now gone and I've done a food shop so I feel I'm in the right frame of mind to do this now.
