2015 Mumsnet Weightloss Club anyone?

HaveTeaWillSurvive · 01/01/2015 09:03

This is it I really need to get fit and slim down this year, my son is getting faster all the time and I feel like I'm letting him down being overweight as I can't keep up.

I've done slimming clubs (WW and SS) in the past and really like the support but I've always drifted off after a bad week or two and begun making excuses not to go. There's no way I'm giving up mumsnet and I find it easier to be brutally honest online so would anyone like to join me for support, tip sharing and the all important weekly weigh in?

I'm starting on Monday 5th as I find it easier to be distracted from food when I'm at work and will have finished the Xmas chocs by then and will be using MFP and my shiny new fitbit to track but anything goes on this thread it's all about the support!

Hopefully someone will come keep me company Xmas Grin

I'm starting my diet today. I'm going to give MFP a go seeing as its free and I waste far too much money on diets that I don't sustain. I'm going to try to get more exercise into my days also, especially walking.

I'm 34, 1 DD, and weigh 14.2 stone :(

RufusTheReindeer · 01/01/2015 20:09

Hi all may I join?

Lost just over 1 and a half stone early last year and have kept a stone off (not including Christmas Blush)

No idea how much I weigh but was going to weigh in on Saturday and start on Sunday (ds1s birthday on Saturday and I'm having cake!!!!!!)

I am 5 foot 8, 45 and would like to get down to 10 stone 7. Last time I checked (2weeks ago) I was 11 stone 10

Going to MFP as that worked last time, with a bit of 5:2 thrown in. Really ought to do a bit of exercise...

26Point2Miles · 01/01/2015 20:20

Just back from a 4 mile run.... Those 10lbs I put on over xmas has taken TEN minutes off my time!

It was cold and dark and windy but I had new gear to try out. I enjoyed it actually

Tomorrow I'm doing the davina dvd then on Saturday im taking my boys to parkrun. Part of new year resolutions is to get the family more involved and fitter so two oldest boys 11 &16 are coming to run 5k with me. Hope to do a few park runs this coming year.... Google to see if there's one in a park near you, bet there is

shutitweirdo · 01/01/2015 20:39

I'm in. I did 52 for 52 last Christmas. Lost 3 stone altogether then put one and a half back on. I did mfp and fitbit. Going to do the no junk thing in February when I can get myself organised. I am 40 with 2dcs and weighed 214lbs on New Years Eve. Want to get down to 190lbs as my first goal then 160lbs. Not sure where I'll feel comfortable.

LazyRohazy · 01/01/2015 20:39

I'm so happy there are so many of us on this thread!

At the end of Day One I've kept within my WeightWatchers points, and resisted DH offering me half his Wispa (not an euphemism...). Back to work tomorrow, which is a 20min walk each way.

cosytoaster · 01/01/2015 20:43

Count me in!

48 with 2 teenage dc. Weigh 13st 4lb and want to lose 3st. Aiming to this using MFP - focusing on healthy eating and starting to exercise again

Valsoldknickers · 01/01/2015 20:50

I was listening to someone (like a doctor or psychologist) talk about New Year's resolutions on the radio the other day and like Sirzy said he felt it best to concentrate on what can be done to get to your goal as opposed to just trying to aim straight for it.

For example, I said I want to lose 2 stone. To make success more likely I should be saying instead that I am going to give up alcohol during the week, cut out biscuits and chocolate and replace them with fruit and go for a walk every day. According to him it's the way to go and is less likely to set me up for failure. Does anyone else have other tips?

BiscuitsAreMyDownfall · 01/01/2015 20:53

Hi, Im in too.

Im 35 with 3 DCs (9, 7 and 3) and weigh 11st 9. I want to be 9st 10 by my summer holidays in 21 weeks. So thats just over 1lb a week. Although in reality I am expecting and will be happy with anything under 10st 7lbs. Id like to be a size 10, but will be happy to be a 12. Currently Im a 14/16

I did officially start in October (again), but had a couple of weeks off over Christmas. Spent the last few days eating all the crap forced into our house over Christmas by well meaning family members.

I have had a terrible year after doing so well in 2012 and 2013 (going from 12st 5lbs - size 16s were starting to feel tight to 10st 9lbs thinking about buying size 12 jeans) and put loads on due to injury so not exercising for 4 months and being down and stressed in my job so eating lots of cake and biscuits. Bad food and no exercise equals weight gain. I didn't think I was doing too bad and thought Id only gained half a stone this year until I found my records of my weight from last year. I am a stone heavier, not only half a stone.

Oh well I know I will manage to lose some.

I plan to exercise 3-5 times a week and not to snack. To eat mindfully and only eat between 11AM and 7PM. Maybe move onto 5:2 when I find a job.

lisbapalea · 01/01/2015 20:56

Can I join too?! Also starting properly on Monday although I have knocked booze in the head as of today, until my DH's 40th later in the month.

I am 37, two DDs (aged 4 and 1), 5'8" and estimate I weigh 14st, possibly more although Monday will confirm. I want to lose 3st by whatever means necessary so will be looking on here for tips!

I want to feel more comfortable both physically and emotionally, and want to show my girls a better example in terms of eating, exercising and body image.

DidThatJustHappen · 01/01/2015 21:12

Ok I'm joining too. Currently heaviest I have ever been at 11st. Lost loads of weight this year due to being ill whilst pregnant and put it all back on and then some since. Weird...

Going to do C25K and stop eating chocolate. And dry January.

BiscuitsAreMyDownfall · 01/01/2015 21:47

Oh yes I'm doing dry January too. Well I started boxing day as it's my birthday the end of the month so having a meal out on the 31st. So it will be a month, just starting and finishing a little bit earlier.

letsplaynice · 01/01/2015 22:11

I could have written your post in fact I was just about to come and write it and suggest a FB group for support. Is anyone up for it?

bowbear · 01/01/2015 22:17

Oh yes please!! Need all the support I can get. 2014 has been a really tough year and I'm determined to rebuild my strength and confidence this year. I'm 45 with DD14 and DS 4. I have about 4 stone to lose and a lot of fitness to gain. No strategy worked out yet so I look forward to hearing how everyone else is planning to achieve their goals. Yay here we go!!

letsplaynice · 01/01/2015 22:20

Ok if you want some FB support I've set up this group "Start As You MN To Go On 2015" I've left it as public I'm thinking 20 people max to keep it small and supportive but not so small it dies if a few drop off.

letsplaynice · 01/01/2015 22:22

HaveTea sorry for hijacking your thread Blush

youbethemummylion · 01/01/2015 22:29

letsplaynice I cant find your FB group

BiscuitsAreMyDownfall · 01/01/2015 22:34

letsplaynice · 01/01/2015 22:40

This should be it m.facebook.com/profile.php?id=400783703412917

MrTumblesSpottyBag · 01/01/2015 22:40

I'm in! I started on 28th Dec as I was just so sick of eating junk and bring the only fat one in my family! I have started by eating to my tdee daily and logging everything on mfp. My name is MiloBelle if anyone wants a friend on there! When I go back to work on Monday I will be starting 5:2 with fasts on Monday and Thursday.
I am 30, have 2 dc and I'm a teacher. I weighed 206lbs when I started a few days ago. I'd love to get to 154, but 175 would put me at a healthy BMI as I'm 5'11" so that's my initial target. Good luck everyone!

PartyFops · 01/01/2015 22:49

Can I join in too? I need to ideally lose 6 stone but aiming for 3 at the moment. I have a fit bit and am trying to do calorie counting. Aiming for 1400 calories a day. Fit bit says I am burning 2400 a day with 9000 steps. Fingers crossed I can stick to it.

One tip for you.... I hate low fat hot chocolate such as highlights as it's ridiculously sweet, would normally drink green and blacks. However, the Bournville highlights is lush! Not sickly sweet. And I don't eat dark chocolate Grin.

Good luck to you all!

letsplaynice · 01/01/2015 22:53

Yeah send a request I'll add you though if you are the one person who sent one already send it again as it went poof!!

Littlemisssunshine72 · 01/01/2015 22:54

Just what I've been looking for! Can't justify spending a fiver every week to weigh myself, although do need the support! Also starting on Monday as have few things need hoovering up and also seeing an old friend for a drink at weekend!
Am 42, 2 DC (7 and 5) and have been a yo-yo- er my entire adult life although yo yo hasn't gone back down since birth of DD. Seeing she is now at school, it has to be time I finally get back into a nice pair of jeans rather than black joggers! Want to lose about 3 stone.

randomAXEofkindness · 01/01/2015 22:59

I'm in. I've put on a stone and a half over Christmas. I've just weighed myself now: 14st 4lbs - heaviest I've ever been.

I'm 33, 5ft 4 and my goal is 10st.

I'm starting Body for Life tomorrow. Anyone else?

randomAXEofkindness · 01/01/2015 23:01

Oh and 3 dc's (started first pregnancy 6 years ago at 9st 7 and never been able to get anywhere near it since).

areyoureallysure · 01/01/2015 23:36

I've just requested to join the fb group Smile
