Hiya

I'll kick start this thread off, I joined WW last Friday and have 1 stone and 9lbs to loose. If I loose more all the better. Good luck everybody!

The ADs make it a bit more difficult for some to take off the weight Dior, but the benefits far outweigh (no pun intended) losing it as quickly as someone else might be doing. Good on you for getting right back on track. I haven't had any really bad cravings yet (only two weeks in though), so I will need support when that starts to happen for me.

Pumpkin Sweet Potato Soup (my bung in it recipe)

1 Tablespoon olive oil for saute
1 Large onion, chopped
2 Stalks Celery
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 Tablespoon minced fresh ginger
1 15 oz (or larger) can of pumpkin
2 medium sweet potatoes cut into smallish square cubes
1 Medium Red Pepper, chopped
2 ears of fresh corn
1 Tablespoon of vegetable demiglace or boullion
1 Carton of Rice Milk or Soy Milk (32 ozs)
Additional 12 oz of water as necessary
Salt and Pepper to taste at the end of cooking

Directions:

In a large cast iron pot (if you have one), saute onions in olive oil for a few minutes, then add garlic and ginger and celery, saute for another minute to blend flavors. Add chopped sweet potato, chopped red pepper, and corn which has been sliced off the cob. Mix together and let saute for an additional minute or so. Add canned pumpkin (or fresh if you have it), rice or soy milk, your demi glace or vege boullion. Stir together, add a bit of salt at this time and add the additional water as necessary. Let this cook for about an hour. At that time, use a stick blender (or put in your blender in small batches) to get to the proper consistency. Add salt and pepper to taste.

This soup is really hearty and wonderful and I apologize about the American measurements in advance! I hope you will be able to enjoy it anyway. Soup is never a science like baking, so I believe it will come out delish with any substituions. The rice and/or soy milk make it nice and creamy so you won't miss the double cream very much.

Dior I think she said 0.2lbs.

It's off sunchowder. Keep up the good work - you can do it.

Hello guys,
Need to lose 2 lbs to get to goal (9 10). Was 12 1 beginning June. I wonder if I can do it this week? This is not as good as it sounds as this just brings me to healthy weight on bmi. Have to get to 9 stone to feel comfy (am only 5' 2). Only thing is how would another pregnancy (if I am so lucky) affect weight. Would eating sensible food and regular swimming and walking help guard against excessive weight gain. Am NOT talking about dieting but just maybe what somebody on no count would eat. Has anybody dealt with pregnancy after hard won weight loss and how did they get on afterwards?

LynnC · 16/11/2006 09:28

Hi everyone, another 2.5lb off this week. Very pleased and only another 10lb to get to target although hopefully manage more. Does anyone else find they do better on weeks when they think they have been bad??? Weird, but not complaining.

Dont get too dishartened Sunchowder most of us have put on or stayed the same the odd week but you will do better next week I'm sure keep at it...

hi westerngirl heres hoping you manage to get to your target next week - well done you must feel great. Not got much advice re pregnancy apart from you probably answered your own question, if you manage to keep with the healthy eating as well as some exercise I'm sure would be the best option to hopefully limiting your weight gain. Although I'm not sure even doing no count would be healthy since it is still designed for weight loss...maybe Dior would have better advice with being an ex leader - good luck (with weight and TTC).

Yes Dior .2 pounds, 3 ounces!!! Have no idea what I really did differently other than not doing my stretching tape as I am coming over with a cold and not feeling my best. I hate getting weighed every week for this reason, but thanks all for telling me that I am doing well. Next week will tell I guess. It is Thanksgiving here so it should be interesting to see how well I get through this! I really do like being part of this thread. Thanks for the support all.

Last nights dinner (another spontaneous bung together with whatever is in fridge)

Crepes with Vege filling

For Crepes:
4 eggs (can try with whites, but I don't)
1 cup whole grain flour
1/2 cup rice or soy milk
1/2 cup water
1/2 tsp salt
1 T melted butter

Combine all ingredients in blender and blend for about a minute, scrape down sides of blender and blend for another few seconds. Take the mixture and put into a batter bowl, put in fridge at least 20 minutes. To cook this, it is best to have a crepe pan, spray once with canola or olive non-stick spray and make the crepes from there. I separate each one as I take them out of pan with sheets of waxed paper.

For Vegie Filling

Nice bunch of fresh asparagus chopped into 1/2 inch pieces
2 Ears of fresh corn (cut off the cob)
1 onion chopped
1 tsp minced garlic
1 tsp curry powder
1/4 cup sun dried tomatoes (not the kind in oil)
1/2 cup low fat yogurt

Method: Steam the asparagus and corn together for about 3 minutes. In the meantime in a sautepan, saute onions and garlic, add curry powder, add back in the steamed asparagus and corn, then add sun dried tomatoes and low fat yogurt. The yogurt will disappear but it makes it a bit more rich.

Add the filling to each crepe and roll up.

Thanks Dior, that is good to hear. I just got off the phone with a women I met at my daughter's concert several weeks ago. She has very strong opinons and feelings, she is going to WW also and we are going to the same meetings. She thinks the body works like a scientific machine and that I needed to really "look" at what I did last week since I only lost 3 ozs. She gained 1.5 pounds the week before, but for some reason really wants to "help" me. I didn't tell her to back off completely, but I did tell her that I don't think my body is that precise and that I am working at being more intuitive instead of mathmatical in looking for results.

Sounds like you have had a fab w/e Dior...well done...the halo is blinding me!!

Ive just managed to ignore the trolley lady and her cheese scones again...had 2 jaffa cakes instead so am feeling quite chuffed at the mo.

westerngirl · 20/11/2006 13:26

Hello,
You all eat much scrummier food than me!

Breakfast: Porridge (with mixture ff and sk milk).

Lunch: fresh bread roll, wafer thin turkey slices and salad, cup soup.

Evening meal: will be chicken stir fry with veg, sauce, rice, ww yoghourt.

All for 17 points, feel really well fed and can make this food for nipper as well. Sometimes I wonder at the weight loss and am puzzled.

Weighed in tonight and got me another Silver Seven And 2lbs towards my next one, as 16lb lost so far.

Had a major blowout on Saturday evening and was 11.5 points over on my weekly total to there but I had spent most of the day - about 7 hours - on my feet at our school fair and a ocuple of hours the day before setting up so though it wasn't exercise, it was more up and about than I'm used to so I must have earned enough points to offset the deficit!

Dior that turkey meat loaf sounds interesting, I might give it a go.

helsy · 20/11/2006 22:54

Well done SueW.

Haven't been to WW for a week and I've been really ill and haven't been counting, so I have no idea whether I have lost anything, may have put on a pound or two - just eating what I can at the moment. Don't want to give up though as I'd lost 12lbs in four weeks up to 10th November, so I will keep coming back to this thread for inspiration!

thehairybabysmum · 21/11/2006 08:40

SueW...well done. its daft how good it feels to get a 7 sticker isnt it....no wonder reward charts work for kids!!

Dior...meat loaf recipe please, sounds lovely.

I had spaghetti with a tomato, onion, pepper, olive and chorizo sauce...all homemade 6 pts...was lovely.

Helsy...dont worry whist you unwell just make sure you go back once you are feeling better. You have already proved you can do it by losing 12lb so even if you do put a couple back on it will quickly be lost again.
