Need to lose weight but know the booze is my major downfall! Need a buddy(s) to do dryathlon with to keep the motivation up and to raise cash for Macmillan cancer support. My DH guffawed when I said, ..... Want to lose lbs at the same time (ps dryathlon is to keep off th booze for all January). I am 13 st 4 lbs and could do with losing a few stone too....eeek

Guineapig yes, I think I am going to carry on as I need to shift 3 stone and am doing a calorie-controlled diet and can eat so much more if I don't drink so that, for me, makes it worth continuing.

However, I am not going to be strict so I plan on having wine on 1 Feb and on nights out/special occasions etc but just not at normal weekend nights at home.

I have a 'special' birthday at the end of April and I really want to have lost 2 stone by then so that is my motivation. Trust me I will be drinking vat loads of wine then to help me with the trauma Grin

KareKare · 12/01/2014 21:42

Another dry weekend. I am finding it easy but I miss it.

I have lost no weight, despite wine having gazillions of calories. I don't feel any different for not drinking.

Willthisworknow · 12/01/2014 22:10

I think I've lost a couple of pound but a bit false after my bug! Off to head office tomorrow for 3 nights. That will be a real test!!

Well - survived the weekend - even chatting to friends who were drinking and smoking on Saturday - and my partner drinking lovely cold white wine in front of me last night.

Should be fine now till friday, I think - the weekend will be a challenge!

My skin is looking better, and I think I'm less puffy around the face - only lost 2 lbs though...

spookyskeleton · 16/01/2014 12:21

Over halfway there...it is all downhill from here Grin Grin Grin

chaosmonkey · 16/01/2014 15:03

Woohoo!

Well done to us.

I've stopped craving wine at night, and started craving Ben and Jerry's - despite the fact that I'm vegan and haven't eaten ice-cream for years.

Am trying to control my exclamation point addiction too - I hear that's frowned upon an MN

spookyskeleton · 16/01/2014 16:09

chaos I also have an exclamation mark addiction which I do manage to curb on here (most of the time anyway Wink )

sparkleyes · 16/01/2014 19:09

I like a good exclamation mark! See!

Willthis I have done a Fire Walk and it was fab. We were trained and psyched up to do it and I really enjoyed the whole experience well worth doing if you get the chance.

Well 16 days dry is that half way now? Roll on 1st feb! Not lost any weight yet but I'm back on WW this week so crossing fingers. However my skin has really improved and it has been terrible for months so that's motivation to carry on.

Willthisworknow · 17/01/2014 18:53

A long week! Away from home and a really intense training course where the trainer really made you look at yourself and management styles. Lots of upset folk with those strong characters, really needed a drink but instead ate far too much so no weight loss here! Really starting to crack.....

Well done all...

OP posts:
spookyskeleton · 17/01/2014 18:57

willthisdon't crack now - you have done so well to get this far so don't ruin it Smile the course sounds hard going so a huge well done for getting through it without the aid of wine Wink

rollonthesummer · 17/01/2014 21:38

I think Friday night is the hardest night not to have a glass of wine!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 17/01/2014 22:36

Well done Willthis! Not much longer now. Your course sounds challenging.

I was caught up in commuter chaos this morning - it took me over 4 ours to get to work, and another 3 to get home. Under normal circumstances I'd have probably rewarded myself with a bar of chocolate when I arrived at work and a bottle glass of wine when I got home, but I did neither . Feeling very zen about everything.

Willthisworknow · 18/01/2014 12:37

Yes still here - just.... No sure it'll be fine! I thought the year would ramp up slowly at work but it hasn't ... Was wanting to spend more time exercising but feel all I do is work! We have a pool party for the kids today so kinda exercise I guess! Just trying to book a babysitter for the 1st so we can go out for a nice meal!

OP posts:
Steala · 18/01/2014 19:09

I haven't felt like cracking at all until today. Now I'm just wondering why I'm doing it and convincing myself that a glass of wine tonight won't make a difference. I don't feel I need it but I can't see the point of denying myself when I would quite like it. Anyone been there?

Willthisworknow · 18/01/2014 20:12

Totally - said to my hubby, who would know - but he's remaining strong! But hevsaid hed feel he failed! I've booked a meal out for 2 weeks time to celebrate! Only 2 weeks to go sigh

spookyskeleton · 19/01/2014 16:57

willthis my DH is also standing firm when I thought he would crack before me! Been to a christening today and I really wouldn't have minded DH having a drink or 2 but no, he wasn't bothered at all!

Last year I cracked on 31 Jan - how bad is that? Blush Blush I remember we went out for tea and I ended up having a couple of glasses of wine!

Will not do that this year Grin

Me and DH have agreed that we are going to carry on with this until we reach our target weights apart from the odd occasions such as birthdays. It has been much easier than I expected!

Willthisworknow · 19/01/2014 20:44

Well done spooky ! My kids are really testing us tonight! Dd3 took exception to something my DH said and she's sobbing her heart out but keeping the baby awake!!! Grrrrrrr. Once she's like this there is no speaking to her and we haven't had dinner yet!!! My ds also has a school project which we got wrong so he's in the throes of redoing it! Great parents ay!!!!???? My mum asked if we were still doing it so lots of faith there!!!

11days, 132 hours left!

OP posts:
spookyskeleton · 20/01/2014 20:47

Me and DH were watching Sky Sports News today and they have got a countdown for the end of the football transfer window. It finishes at 11pm on 31st Jan and I said to DH that that is our countdown clock till Wine Grin Grin

Willthisworknow · 21/01/2014 21:14

Yes tomorrow there'll be less than 100 hours to go..... Jesus how sad, will be counting minutes next! Can't find my TV remote and when premenstrual, this is NOT good! Still not lost much weight tho. Went for a walk today though... Tomorrow is busy! Interview and then a late call with a client (not sexy deep breathing down the phone btw), but a call about a clinical trial I know not about! Not sure why I'm going for this interview. Have totally ruled it out as it won't have the flexibility of my current job! Never mind.

Congrats all who haven't fallen off the wagon!

OP posts:
Willthisworknow · 22/01/2014 22:18

Starting to go doally. 240 hours to go....

OP posts:
Willthisworknow · 23/01/2014 08:44

8 days to go - all still on the wagon?

OP posts:
chaosmonkey · 23/01/2014 09:33

I have failed. I drank one night last weekend, and had a fag. I also had a cup of tea yesterday morning!

Well done to all that are better than me!

Willthisworknow · 23/01/2014 11:53

Ha ha thx for being honest chaos

OP posts:
spookyskeleton · 23/01/2014 15:37

chaos never mind, these things happen Wink

I am still here and still going strong. Dh suggested going out for tea tonight but I know that I would end up having wine if we did so I said no Grin
