Need to lose weight but know the booze is my major downfall! Need a buddy(s) to do dryathlon with to keep the motivation up and to raise cash for Macmillan cancer support. My DH guffawed when I said, ..... Want to lose lbs at the same time (ps dryathlon is to keep off th booze for all January). I am 13 st 4 lbs and could do with losing a few stone too....eeek

Day three! I still feel groggy but I do remember having a headache for about a week last time!

I'm drinking slim line tonic, it's refreshing.

I did find that last years dry month re set my drinking, from a bottle a night over Christmas, to a glass of wine two nights a week.

It creeps back though and I was drinking a bit more in the lead up to Christmas.

spudmasher · 03/01/2014 07:43

Yup, still groggy here too. I don't think this weather helps! It'd be much easier on a crisp bright day!!

Bowlersarm · 03/01/2014 10:05

Groggy here too. I'm feeling really lethargic this morning. Ah well, it's nice to know other people are going through it too.

spookyskeleton · 03/01/2014 13:26

Feel like shit today but am assuming it is illbess rather than alcohol withdrawal symptoms Hmm

I am achy all over and keep going hot and cold. had an awful nights sleep last night aswell...almost enough to make me hit the wine again Wink

Willthisworknow · 03/01/2014 13:42

Well done all, day 3. I had a good night sleep and had lost a lb in the past few days. Haven't been under 13 st 4 for about 6 months! Think what a month will do. Will try for longer, but....a month will be challenging enough....ESP at weekends!

My caffeine headache is finally receding Smile

Like Pumpkin, I found last year's dry January helped me to cut down all year, except for when I was on my summer hols and in the run-up to Christmas. Hoping to do the same again this year.

Well done to everyone!

Guineapigfriend · 03/01/2014 17:38

I feel good today, went out for lunch with DH and to the pub, he drank & I didn't.

spudmasher · 03/01/2014 17:44

Reaching my danger zone! 6pm.....cooking nice dinner for DH and DDs......feeling happy......it's wine o clock!!!!!!! Talk me down please!!!!

spudmasher · 03/01/2014 17:47

Just remembered the tenner forfeit...that helps a bit!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 03/01/2014 17:58

Don't do it spud Grin!

Bowlersarm · 03/01/2014 18:09

Just cracked open an alcohol free beer. Hopefully that'll satisfy my wine taste bds!

spookyskeleton · 03/01/2014 18:22

spud don't cave in, you can resist Grin

spudmasher · 03/01/2014 18:34

I'm hanging on in there...I know I can do it...did it last year so I can do it again!
How's everyone else doing?
How many Fridays are there in January??

spookyskeleton · 03/01/2014 18:35

Unfortunately 5 as 31st is a Friday too Sad but only 4 Saturdays Grin

spudmasher · 03/01/2014 18:43

5!!!!!!! Oh the cruelty!!!! But Saturday is 1st Feb!!
Though last year, by that point, I wasn't fussed. This will be the trickiest weekend- just breaking habits.
How is everyone else?

Willthisworknow · 03/01/2014 18:43

Don't do it, I'm struggling too but busy yourself with that drawer you've been meaning to clear out. I'm finding items for eBay so that I can make some dosh and put it together with the cash I save on wine for a holiday!!! Think of that and all that wonderful wine and cold beers you can have in the summer sun rather than in the lashing rain - and with that buffed body cos you've lost so much weight and the liver is no longer enlarged. Win win. Only 28'days to go.......

DH was drinking cider before dinner and it was so hard - I had a sneaky sniff and walker down to the shops and bought this delicious apple & rhubarb juice. Added half soda water and yum! Boiling kettle for herbal tea now.

Guineapigfriend · 03/01/2014 20:50

Walked

spudmasher · 03/01/2014 21:28

Well done!! Is it Bottlegreen stuff? Love their elderflower cordial but not tried that!

Guineapigfriend · 03/01/2014 23:34

Thanks, it's Cawston Vale pressed juice

Guineapigfriend · 03/01/2014 23:35

Expensive but cheaper than a bottle of wine :)

MizK · 04/01/2014 10:23

Yay, first Friday night in aaaaages that I haven't had wine! Feel fine, and actually I didn't miss it, goes to show that the idea that I need a drink to wind down at the end of the week isn't actually true. I'm sure I'll be missing it v soon but going without it wasn't the big deal I had built it up to be. Hope everybody else is doing OK too, guineapig that juice sounds really nice, may have to try it!

kernowal · 04/01/2014 11:40

Has anyone tried Bottlegreen's blackcurrant & coffee cordial? It sounds gross but tastes lovely, esp mixed with lemonade.

sparkleyes · 04/01/2014 11:41

Hello

Can I join in ! Just had my first dry Friday night in years! Feeling positive and hoping I feel the benefit soon both in my skin and weight!

spookyskeleton · 04/01/2014 14:39

Hi sparkleyes Smile

I also didn't miss wine last night which I thought would be my first test! I tried spudmashers cranberry drink and it was lovely (although I had no limes so used lime cordial instead Wink )

Now tonight is definitely going to be tricky as I always make a delish tea for me and DH and ALWAYS have a glass of wine whilst cooking...must resist!
