Congratulations all you super slimmers and thanks for the support!! Alex's mum I think you are doing really well considering had baby too
My dd is 2 and a bit now and I am still 4 stone over weight!! I have lost some of the gargantuan amount I put on but am a ditherer. Also don't look like I need to lose that much so can kid myself on a regular basis!! Quite alot of my work colleagues go to SW now so we all gossip together at lunchtime. I am eating better than before but know I have too many sins. I need to be more prepared with food. Does anyone find it easier to plan their menus in advance? I do try but maybe not hard enough. There were choccies in the staff room yesterday but I held myself back. Resisted till I got through my front door and demolished everything pickable possible. Please tell me I am not alone in this mad behaviour. Sometimes I can control it sometimes not. I know a question of will power. Thanks for letting me moan....

deegward · 29/04/2004 21:54

Sarochka, I think we all pick when noones looking. Although I had a good loss last night, 3lbs I have picked at litte solid easter eggs I "found" (as if they were lost) in the fridge. Tomorrow will be better!

Yes, I think it helps to plan in advance, if only if its going to be a red or a green day.

sarochka · 29/04/2004 22:16

Thanks Deegward but I do feel that it is just me that is losing nothing - wonder why? Have measured and lost inches and clothes much looser but no actual weight....bizarre. Really going for it this week as know it works...

alexsmum · 29/04/2004 22:24

oh god I am the picking queen!!! and once I start I just can't stop!!
FOR EXAMPLE!!! I bought a multipack of two fingered kit kats today and thought I could have one a day as a chocolate fix as they are only 5 sins. Guess how many I have had today? Four!!!
Thank you for the compliments..I have a long way to go though!!

Crunchie · 30/04/2004 09:06

Planning is so important for me. My class is a Monday night and so I use the time when I get home to cook for the rest of the week. However I found I was getting so bored with the same old stuff. SO I made an effort, dug out all my old mags and have decided to try one new thing a week. This week I did two, a really nice Qourn cottage pie and a veggi chilli (I added more quorn). This way when I get in from work, supper could be less than 10 mins away. I has certainly helped me, and stopped me picking.

It depends on your situation, but since my kids are fed at the childminders I don't have to do their stuff and DH is working every evening, I only have to do for me. This way I am sorted. Good Luck this week everyone

Detta · 30/04/2004 13:17

I'm definitely starting the Slimming World diet again next week. As I need to save money as well as lose a shed-load of weight, would anyone like to "pal up" and start with me next week, rather than go to the classes? We could weigh-in once a week and try to encourage one another (and discourage each other when it comes to Mars bars.....

PS am a stay at home mum who's not great at exercising!!

lemonice · 30/04/2004 15:29

Detta I've never tried this diet but have been not getting round to trying to lose weight for ages and always have some weak excuse. My usual problem is feeling hungry and sounds as though this could be better than some diets for that.

Would like to join forces.

wickedstepmum · 30/04/2004 16:54

Detta & Lemonice, I hope it works for you. I have been going to SW on and off for 4 years and, though I know the plan, I know what to do, I just can't lose weight without going to the classes. Eating in public is horrible. I am the original plate cleaner, in private in the kitchen where no-one can see and then disappoint myself when I don't lose weight. This time it will be different :0

deegward · 30/04/2004 17:19

WSM et al, was so naughty today, had a food breakfast, homemade soup for lunch, no sins so far. So far so good, then demolished a whole easter egg. Think will have to have no sins tomorrow or sunday to make up.

sarochka · 30/04/2004 23:41

Just won a big box of chocs in a quiz - only eaten 4
Been great all day apart from that and more than usual glasses of wine - hiccuping to bed now..

Detta · 02/05/2004 20:31

Hi Lemonice - great to know you want to do this too. I'm going to weigh myself first thing on Tuesday morning and then start. I think it also helps to measure yourself so that if you have a week when you don't lose weight you may well have lost inches (here's hoping anyway!). Will post on Tuesday after my weigh-in. Best of luck. Detta

Crunchie · 03/05/2004 08:12

deegward, Bear in mind that was one day. As long as you stick to the plan for the rest of the week you will be OK> I knew this week would be tough with a couple of lunches and a party, but I allowed myself Thursday 'off' and didn't worry and I know I have lost againthis week, I am weighing in tonight

deegward · 03/05/2004 13:43

Crunchie, thanks for the words of encouragement. The weekend was not good, but today have been good so far, weigh in is not until Wednesday, so will have to just go for it. Good luck for tonight

Detta · 04/05/2004 11:28

Well here goes. Today is the start of my strict 4-week Slimming World diet. Weigh in at 11 st 4lbs. Target for 4 weeks' time: 10 st 10lbs. There, now everyone knows I'll have to stick to it!! How are you doing Lemonice?

Crunchie · 04/05/2004 11:48

Well weigh in was last night and 1lb gone. So that's 5lbs in 2 weeks ATM I am now 11stone and my first target is another 5 lbs by 30 May (holiday) so that's 4 weeks more. After that another 9lbs in the next 6 weeks before my b'day and I'll be at target Very achievable.

This week I expect to stay the same as it is by best friends wedding on Sat and on Thurs is the hen night. I am organised for the rest of the week, I made a really yummy veggie curry yesterday which will last for the rest of the week. It means my big 'difficult' time when I get home about 6.30 is covered as I can have a big plate of curry in the time it takes to heat it up in the microwave

Lunches aren't a problem as I bring a salad into work, breakfast too. It is just at home in teh evening that I struggle. I am going to make a huge fruit salad tonight to pick at too. Also hour long baths help

Kayleigh · 04/05/2004 11:52

Am going back today. For definite. My friend at work has been instructed to MAKE me go. Am not as brave as Detta so am not posting my weight, but want to lose at least 1st 2lbs by end of June when we go away. That is how much I've put on in last 3 or 4 months . Once that's gone I'll tackle the next bit.

sarochka · 04/05/2004 20:16

It must just be that's rubbish. I had put on 2 tonight but it's star week - I don't think that makes a difference but it makes me feel better.
I appear to have no will power - can not control my weight. Put on 5 stone duting pregnancy and shifted 1.5. dd now 2. What am I doing ? it is seriously pathetic...keep inspiring me ladies I am sure it can only help.

sarochka · 04/05/2004 20:17

I meant me not be in that first bit !

wickedstepmum · 04/05/2004 21:03

2nd week and I've stayed the same - damn. I had a hifi bar on Sat when my Mum had a crunchie and an apple when she had a shop sandwich. Still, next week must be better. And I couldn't give blood as I'm anaemic again so couldn't even cheat that way.

Kayleigh · 04/05/2004 21:50

wickedstepmum it'll probably come off next week. Sometimes even if you've been really good you can stay the same, and it'll shift the following week. The hardest thing is not to give up though.

I went back to class today and am so glad i did. feel better already. Took up Crunchies suggestion of a long bath after dinner and consequently have eaten NO chocolate today. Which is an incredible feat for me

One day down, lots and lots to go

wickedstepmum · 05/05/2004 08:09

Thanks Kayleigh, I'll keep going but will admit to having a chocolate truffle and 2 slices of brioche with butter and wild blueberry jam last night in my fury I'll try harder today and good luck to you - one day at a time!

wickedstepmum · 05/05/2004 08:10

Very good they were too...

deegward · 05/05/2004 22:00

Okay, weigh in tonight and only 1/2 on. Which was good considering the chocolate I have eaten this week. The good news, its all gone now, and I'm not going to buy any more. Have decided to keep a food and exercise diary this week. Going on holiday on 27th July and would love to have gone down at least 1/2 a stone by then. Totally achievable. I'M GOING FOR IT!!!

Kayleigh · 06/05/2004 22:02

Good for you Deegward (not the gain obviously, I meant the Going For It bit )

Have had three really good days since going back to class and am very pleased with myself. Have stuck to around 6-8 sins a day so i have a bit extra at the weekend.

Everyone else doing ok ?

lemonice · 07/05/2004 15:23

Right have been completely pathetic and not plucked up courage to start properly (evening stressy wine problem.) But am definitely launching into it tomorrow. With a weigh in first thing.

Hope all are doing well.
