Welcome to thread 13 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded friendly support system are:

1. Eat what you WANT
2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition, it's about enjoying what you are putting into your mouth, but not feeling bloated and uncomfortable (or guilty) afterwards!
Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we may have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!
So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!! Let's get lighter for those Christmas outfits!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry and that is a great way to feel when you are dropping dress sizes at the same time!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2013 your year to drop a dress size or several...if we can get those lbs off a few at a time, just think how we could look and feel for Christmas and The New Year!!!
Some of our thread members are also doing PMK's Virtual Gastric Band and although this thread is not about this avenue, we will still be supportive of our friends partaking of this, so don't think we wont be there for you. I'm pretty sure that the Golden Rules will be just as helpful in this process as the I Can Make You Thin process :) so get stuck in :)

Hello all :) I hope you are all doing ok and enjoying your Christmas?

Vivacia · 28/12/2013 20:12

Hello thread. I recently gave my way-of-eating a boost with the Gastric Band and I'm really struck at how different it is to I Can Make You Thin and how much easier it's been to follow the 4 Rules.

I must admit, I don't get the Havening thing. Can anyone explain to me what it means to them?

MillyRules · 28/12/2013 22:50

Hi, I haven't done the Havening myself but some of the others have Vivacia. Hopefully they will be along soon and can tell you more. I think though that it works by tapping the meridian lines in the body. I have listened to both ICMYS and the Gastric Band one and the band definitely works better for me. Something happens when I have eaten enough to be satisfied and there is a feeling in my upper stomach that says "stop".

Vivacia · 28/12/2013 23:01

I picked up on a few different messages. Less mention of cake and more of healthy choices; far fewer mentions of falling off the wagon; and, not having to listen to the Trance everyday. Does that tally with what others think?

Jinglebeans456 · 28/12/2013 23:07

Hi Vivacia
I find the havening technique to be just like the tapping technique in ICMYT, with some slightly different moves. Forgotten how it works, but seems to do something. I found the gastric hypnosis better too especially in the beginning, and even had physical symptoms like heartburn. However it seems to have worn off, as I've not been doing the trance frequently.

MillyRules · 28/12/2013 23:17

Jingle I think you definitely need to listen to it a couple of times a week. Funny, I get that heartburn feeling when I have eaten enough to be satisfied. It happens and when I feel it I stop.

Vivacia I don't remember mentions of cake in ICMYT but usually trance out to them both to be honest and don't hear a lot.

Solo · 29/12/2013 01:31

Hello!

I really must listen to the VGB disc. I keep forgetting to do it. Mind you, having the Dc's around isn't a good way of trying to listen.

Today has been dreadful in terms of eating crap I'm sorry to say. I will get back onto it though :) I'm zooming up to my 50th birthday, so want to be a lot slimmer for that event!!!

OP posts:
Vivacia · 29/12/2013 07:00

I afraid I got interrupted 3 times listening to the fitting. Might give it another go today.

Might try the havening too (I really don't understand what it's supposed to achieve, and I never did the tapping from ICMYT).

Can't believe how full I'm feeling and how little I'm eating.

Solo · 29/12/2013 11:55

Sounds as though it's 'fitted' anyway Vivacia as it appears to be working...must do mine.

OP posts:
Vivacia · 29/12/2013 12:47

Does anyone have any motivating success stories to share?

Solo · 29/12/2013 13:49

Yes, there are many of us that have lost bundles and maintained on PMK. Whomovedmychocolate is/was my big motivator. She hasn't been on these threads for a long while as she, I guess, is a svelte young thang still Grin.

I lost 2 stones if that's any kind of motivation. I have put half back on, but that was after I was assaulted at work and lost my way. That's why I need to get back into it again; to continue on my journey!

OP posts:
Vivacia · 29/12/2013 14:17

I might read through some of the success stories from the ICMYT journal.

I think part of my problem in the past has been that I only have a little to lose. So, this time I'm not even weighing myself. I'm just going to judge it on clothes size.

Another fairly good day here. Sat and had a small, mindful breakfast. Dinner wasn't exactly done sitting down, but it was mindful. I've had a cookie and 2 left over slices of pizza.

Vivacia · 29/12/2013 14:19

And sorry to hear about your setback solo. Losing 2 stone is impressive!

Solo · 30/12/2013 16:53

:) Thanks Viv :)

Hi All. Hope everyone had a nice Christmas. Thinking of giving up PM'ing, as my heart is not into it much anymore, especially after weighing myself, and finding that I have put on one stone and 2lbs since starting it.

I also feel tired all the time with no energy. Going to go onto the high protein drinks twice a day, with a meal in the evenings to get some control back. Need to nip the weight increase in the bud now before I get heavier.

Good luck to all of you on here, you're a great bunch, and I will nip back now and again to follow how you are all getting on.

Incidentally Solo, I read back to the last thread, and noticed that you were a prison officer like myself. I also took a voluntary early redundancy in May this year after 20 years service. Best choice I ever made, as I got to hating my job. I am now waiting to foster. A new chapter for me.

Vivacia · 30/12/2013 20:15

Good luck Jingle, that's a disappointing (and worrying) story you tell. Have you thought (and do you mind sharing) about why you think it's not worked for you?

MillyRules · 31/12/2013 02:38

Jingle you were in this same place two weeks ago and from putting up what you had eaten for a few days it would seem that you were not eating proper meals but snacking all the time and not allowing your self to build up to real hunger. Smile

MillyRules · 31/12/2013 02:44

Also Jingle you said you have been dieting since your twenties and you are still believing that this next " protein" shake diet will be the one that finally works?? Don't you think that if diets worked you would have never needed to go on one again ?. Good luck anyway and hope it works. Smile

Solo · 31/12/2013 02:52

Wow! Jingle didn't realise you were same as me! only 17 years for me though. Where were you? Actually, don't answer that, I'll PM you.
Funny, I would also do the fostering thing if I had room in my house. Not sure what I'm going to do yet. After being assaulted, I've a lot of problems with my left thumb; didn't have any trouble with it before, but now after seeing a specialist, it seems that I have the beginnings of arthritis...seems that the assault has triggered the pain off :(

Sorry to see you go from the thread. You are always welcome back though :)

Jinglebeans456 · 31/12/2013 09:13

Milly you are so right again- why do I feel like I'm getting told off again lol. I tend to snack rather than eat meals as you said, so I've been really sorting that out, and am eating meals.

But I am also eating too many sugary things and carbs in addition. That has'nt levelled off. I have decided not to cut out any meals now, but to have the protein shakes in addition, as I feel that they help me to feel fuller for longer.

They might also cut out my sugary and carb cravings.

Am I allowed to stay on this thread doing this?

I thought that you had to be doing PM strictly.

Have messaged you Solo. Think you might know my hubby, as he worked at the same place as you.

I'd love to go to PM's seminar but it think that they are so expensive, any cheap deals for them, does anyone know?

Jinglebeans456 · 31/12/2013 13:22

Well today I've had breakfast followed by a protein shake, and not felt like eating until 1ish, so it seems to have curbed my urge for snacking in between. Also for lunch had half a cheeseburger followed by another shake.

Ate and drank mindfully. Is this really dieting? It does'nt feel like it, as I'm eating my main meals as before but adding a protein drink with them as well. This is to curb me eating in between meals. Plus I've only eaten when hungry.

MillyRules · 31/12/2013 22:37

Hi Jingle . Adding a couple of protein shakes can be good. I take them when I'm doing lots of weights in my gym. I use Maxi Muscle protein shakes. It sounds like if you are only eating when you are truly hungry then that is good but maybe you are not actually stopping when you are feeling that satisfied sensation. Sounds like you are still eating things when your not hungry though. Wink

Jinglebeans456 · 01/01/2014 10:10

My message disappeared. Here goes again:

Happy new year everyone:)

Hi Milly- i do have difficulty eating only when hungry, which i need to keep working at. I've ordered some books by Geenan Roth regarding compulsive and emotional eating. Someone wrote on a PM review that she wrote years ago what PM preaches.

I've read excerpts of her emotional eating book, and she helps you with recognising hunger, and also why some people find it is so hard to only eat when hungry, and how to overcome that.

The protein shakes are helping me to stop snacking, but I've felt headachey again. Think I need to drink more water.

ItsIgginningToLookALotLikeXmas · 01/01/2014 10:21

With a new year, can you have new members? . Have weighed myself this morning and really need to do something about my (mostly emotional) over-eating. Have successfully used PM in the past, but then got pg for first time and somehow 6 years on I'm still not back on track.. Going to listen to the CD now to see if I can kickstart myself!
