Welcome to thread 13 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded friendly support system are:

1. Eat what you WANT
2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition, it's about enjoying what you are putting into your mouth, but not feeling bloated and uncomfortable (or guilty) afterwards!
Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we may have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!
So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!! Let's get lighter for those Christmas outfits!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry and that is a great way to feel when you are dropping dress sizes at the same time!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2013 your year to drop a dress size or several...if we can get those lbs off a few at a time, just think how we could look and feel for Christmas and The New Year!!!
Some of our thread members are also doing PMK's Virtual Gastric Band and although this thread is not about this avenue, we will still be supportive of our friends partaking of this, so don't think we wont be there for you. I'm pretty sure that the Golden Rules will be just as helpful in this process as the I Can Make You Thin process :) so get stuck in :)

oh dear having a fat arse day Sad choosing to wear big baggy jumper instead of neat denim jacket. it's just no happening fast enough for me. been looking at 5:2 fasting, thinking i could still be Pauling on 5 days... help! don't like the desperate feeling Blush

Rules · 18/09/2013 12:33

very I confess, I tried it once and it totally screwed with my head. It brought on the diet mentality. With the 5:2.....16:8 all your doing is basically cutting out calories if you add it up over a week.

Rules · 18/09/2013 12:36

and seriously, how can you do Pauling when your also starving yourself??? It's the road back ti disorder eating. It's a passing fad just like full Atkins. Everyone says its wonderfull but a year down the line they will have regained the weight when they stop starving/ dieting two days a week.Sad

very you may need to relearn what being genuinely hungry is.....go without food until you really really need it....that might help u get back on track. That's what I'm doing now.....started yesterday and my eating is better. Think of bullshit she did it.

My cousin-in-law did 5:2 and it made him really ill. He's very active (teaches karate after a fairly physical job). His wife said he became quite aggressive and even faint at times. They managed for about 6 weeks before jacking it in. If you're Pauling right you don't need to starve yourself!

I am trying harder with Pauling. I have dug out my Curves book for food ideas - I got stuck in a carb heavy rut simply because that's all we had in the house so then that's all I bought IYSWIM? I've done an online shop with ingredients for balanced meals and stuff for smoothies for breakfast. I'm not going to calorie count using Curves but follow the principles of balanced food choices and having healthier snacks to hand if I do get peckish.

aw cheers rules & faith thank goodness for youse & the moment of insanity passing!! Shock cany believe i was actually considering that!! good to hear from horses mouths how bad it really is, as it seems only good reviews pop up when you need a balanced view. i waited until i felt hungry & then thought about it again, considered not being allowed to eat at that point, & decided i like my food too much it would be torture! so then i sat & very mindfully enjoyed a maple pecan pastry thing with a cup of tea & felt a whole lot better. seriously, i cany believe how much better! & subsequently havny been hungry for lunch... i think it's the stopping when you're no longer hungry as opposed to full i need to work on. i really like the satisfied feeling, & am loathe to stop before that or it feels like diet days.

funnily enough i'm doing a curves recipe for tea: beef stroganoff (but full-fat) & just prepped about a million veggies to add in. think i'm going to need more beef Grin

new job has begun & i love it! baby is gorgeous. i really hope the big cycle to & from his house will burn some more lard off, did ~1hr round trip yesterday & uphill all the way home. but then was sooo hungry. ate my lunch with a half hour pause in the middle, decided i was hungry again (having plated it up) & finished mini sandwich #2. i'm not sure how extra exercise can help when i just end up more hungry?? Hmm

exercise tones and builds muscles and therefore reduces visible lardy fat.Grin

Report
Rules · 18/09/2013 14:56

and after exercise your body needs protein to build muscles and therefore it wants more food

Report
ppeatfruit · 18/09/2013 17:30

Yes Rules is right and if you eat WHEN you're hungry and STOP when you're full you'll lose weight even quicker with the extra exercise I know that I do !! I have to say woah 'cos I don't want to look haggard which at my age is quite possible Grin!!

Just keeping this thread on my radar. Have not eaten a lot today but have eaten a bit mindlessly and don't feel that I have enjoyed eating what I had. Tomorrows a new day and will remember to eat mindfully.

Hi Solo, are you losing weight with the "braces" diet still?? Smile

Report
veryberrybug · 22/09/2013 12:39

hello all.

after my wobble & your words of wisdom helped set me straight, i still found that the idea of dieting again totally messed with my mindset & i found myself bingeing again, which has reminded me just how much dieting fucked my head up. i've found myself getting that bloodsugar slump: you know when you go from fine to suddenly hungry? & i remember PM describing hunger coming on as gradual, so i thought about it & it definitely wasny emotional hunger so, sugar peaks & troughs fits the bill. i've returned to normal Pauling eating (what a relief). i've also been watching the series "the men who made us fat" & "the men who made us thin" BBC documentaries on youtube which are very interesting & enlightening, it's interesting to see the bigger picture about the power big industry has in shaping our lives, & how appallingly bad diet statistics really are! so back to religiously Pauling, i think i need to focus more specifically & less generally if i want this to work faster.

Report
Rules · 22/09/2013 19:04

I too find that even thinking about going on a "diet" messes with my head very and I get that binge feeling as well until I settle back down again. Its hard because that is the way we have been conditioned all our lives.

Report
veryberrybug · 22/09/2013 19:24

it's so unfair isn't it rules when diets condition you to expect weightloss of 2+ lbs per week, but then never work longterm. Pauling isn't nearly so fast but i think with my recent rediscovery of the bingeing headfuck i've remembered how much more favourable a way of life it is. i think i have a tendency to stop noticing stuff when it's become the norm, so though initially i was all chuffed at how much pleasure i was getting from eating, i got used to that & stopped noticing it, instead moving to focus on a negative. so i'll be saying to myself "never mind a vague ooh i'll concentrate on Pauling more i need to ask how is this actual mouthful?" & remind myself it will be slow, but not painful!!

Rules · 22/09/2013 19:39

It does seem unfair that we have had to go through our lives dieting to get the figure that we believe will make everything in our lives perfect.....if only we can get skinny enough!!!! Thing is though, if you have a daughter, you don't want to pass this onto her so its important to sort this out once and for all before you pass the wrong torch to her.

Though rules the DDs don't nec. pick it up from family, there are enough of their friends, magazines TV shows and on line etc. to influence them harmfully Sad

Although to look on the bright side those things can also have positive effects Grin .You just have to hope they learn the right way way eventually. Morning all BTW nice to see some action on here again Grin

You can pick up bad messages from the media that's true but its then up to us to balance that out. But generally the way a daughter feels about her body comes from the mothers attitude to her own body and her daughters as she is growing. If you have food issues as a mum then your daughter generally picks up on it and has her own food issues as she grows up. This seems to be what I have found amongst my friends anyway.

HadALittleFaith · 24/09/2013 07:02

You're absolutely right. Actually my issues don't come from the media but from my relationship with my Mum. She meant well - she was a fat teenager and didn't want that for me but putting me on a diet from about 9 years old created a binge/purge cycle I'm still struggling to break 20 years on. I've been struggling a lot with my post-pregnancy body and am feeling low so I've got my GP to refer me for counselling. I want to improve on this for Faithlet's sake. I'm also planning to do BLW because this encourages a healthy relationship with food.

Sad HadA 9 is a crucial age; our DD1 started putting on weight at 9 but I kept quiet, no diets or anything and then at 18 she just decided herself to watch what she ate (she DID start smoking at uni 'cos her friends suggested it was a good way to lose though Sad) she's fine now.Though her new highly stressful job has possibly got her smoking again.

You've got a good opportunity to have a Paul Mckenna baby after all we bf and ff when they're hungry you just continue with BLF.

Rules I find that whatever we say to our DCs they are inclined to do the opposite during the teenage years. Of course i forget DH has always done stupid cambridge type Diets and got fatter! So they would've noticed that I suppose. I'm not forgetting that i've been on Ways of Eating too for health though!
