Hi all, I joined slimmig world yesterday as I finally ready and motivated to get this weight off. Anyone else? Is there a support thread for those following slimming world? As I couldn't see one on here. If not anyone interested in helping to support each other here?

Hello - can I jump in please, I signed up before Christmas and lost a bit, put it on over Christmas and NY. So now hitting it properly. I'm pleased, to be honest, because if I'd not started before Christmas I'd probably be half a stone heavier right now...

I usually do green days but when I showed my consultant my diary with two b choices she told me I'd need to syn one of them. Hmm Do they just not want you to do Green anymore? Is it basically the same as EE but with less HEs?

Thanks blondes, XBenedict and Samnella. Thanks I have found it very easy, BUT I enjoy cooking and save all my Syns for treats rather than use them within cooking like some do. I have some Red days too as I love my HExBs!! Tips? Check everything Grin and sticking by the rule that if your not eating something in its proper state (ahem lasagne crisps) to syn it, the same way fruit is to be synned when you change it's natural state!!!
If you want crisps, buy some Velvet crunch, quavers, French fries, 4 Syns!

noyou- muller corners are not free. They're between 4-6syns accordingto the app. Only muller lights and then only certain "plainer" ones, cherry fruit layer etc are all synned. SadSo good news is that you did have some Syns that day Grin they're there to be used!! I'd try and get some literature if I was you. It's so handy and you can guide yourself. And 50/50 bread isn't a HExB so you'd also have to syn the bread.
Samnella, you're day sounds lush! Made me hungry Smile

ahem lasagne crisps Blush i do usually have ringos's every few days for 4 syns

menu for today

fruit and ff yog and sweetner
egg may salad, lettuce, toms, cucumber, grated carrot - fruit

attempting to make chicken wrapped in bacon with cheese (a) in the middle tonight - with sweet potato chips and veg

poor oh seems to suffer my cooking, he HATED the lasgane with egg in it instead of white sauce, but tolerates most of it, he does love my shepherds pie Grin

most admit the lasagne was rank and its worth using a white sauce mix and synning it lol

and hes actually lost more weight then me last year when i was being good and he ate my food under sufferance sometimes and then ate huge bowls of ice cream/choc/crisps/drank beer etc and a few months later people said wow youve lost weight and he had lost about a stone Envy

Lunch - Left over noodles and salmon form yesterday. Choc mousse - 5

Snack - Fruit

Waitrose crackers x 8: 8 (they are small!)
Nuts: 5

I am so Blush. I really don't know what comes over me. I just start raiding the cupboard and its a slippery slope. I decided to add it here to try and shake me up and realise I am sabotaging myself. I am not expecting any advice as I am thinking I am unusual for doing it Blush. I am out for dinner with a friend later as well Shock

blondes sends samella into the naughty syn corner

wtf are you doing Shock

by all means have a treat but all those snacks dont fill you up, use your syns big time and then you get upset with yourself

and you are out tonight - eat something good, like chicken breast/salmon/jacket and salad/veg

but we all have bad days, trust me im no angel so forget about today, some leaders say to have a day off/dont count syns day - think that is today for you Grin

im well thrilled with my chicken/cheese/bacon thing - looks fab when raw, but will it taste ok when cooked ......................

WI tomorrow, hoping for a 2/3lb loss, normally im a lb a week girl, but been so good and my first week so heres hoping :)

Samnella - I can relate to that! (I work from home as well and am practically sat in my kitchen 8 hours a day!)

Can you pinpoint what makes you do it? Were you generally hungry? Or was it just because the stuff was there post Christmas? I'm similar with savoury things, and I sent DH to work with the last of the cheese, crackers and peanuts so that they wouldn't be right here next to me all day...

Thanks.

Love the 'WTF' blondes Grin

I know exactly when this started. Get the violins ready ladies. I was rail thin until I got to 16 and my parents had an acrimonious (sp?) divorce. Home life was very stressful and when I got home after school the house was empty and I would eat. It is ridiculous as I am now getting on for 40 but I guess somewhere in the back of my mind its a habit I have continued. I am the biggest I have ever been (12.3 and 5'4") which has jolted me into action but I have spent 90% of my adulthood overweight even if only by half a stone due to this stupid, stupid habit.

That Bint (I can't do bold- I right click but it's not there!) - I do it out of boredom I think. This will sound awful but I hate this time of the day. The screaming kids, the cooking of meals (have to cook two meals as DD is veggie), bathing the DCs, trying to work FT whilst managing a house. I just don't enjoy this time of the day.

Hello, may I join in? I?ve been lurking Mumsnet for a couple of weeks and am taking the plunge to post. Am feeling a bit down. I joined SW Feb 2010, lost 2st 4lb over 8 months but really struggled to keep going to classes, rejoined twice during that time, stopped going in Oct 2010. Weighed myself this morning and am exactly the weight I was when I first joined in 2010 though have been back following extra easy for a week. Feeling so annoyed with self but don?t want to do classes again, they just don?t suit me. I may try online. I like the SW programme particularly extra easy. Need to lose 7st 4lb Sad, didn?t even make my club 10 target last time.

Tried an adaptation of a Jamie Oliver recipe for dinner last night. Makes 2 servings. 2 x chicken breast wrapped in smoked bacon (fat trimmed off). Large leek washed and cut into chunks, whole button mushrooms (can?t remember how many). Chicken placed in centre of baking dish, leeks and mushrooms distributed round side of chicken. Sprinkle of thyme over veg plus sea salt and pepper to taste. Bake for 30 mins, served with baked potato. Thought it could be a bit dry so 10-15 mins into bake added some liquid stock (from knorr bottle) to cooking juices which were forming and spooned over leeks and mushrooms. These were tending to crisp a bit too quickly so covered these with foil round edges of dish at this point while leaving chicken exposed in centre of dish. Was v.v. tasty and v. easy. Think it would be good with boiled rice if you can increase the liquor with more stock. Also may think about mixing butter beans in with leeks and mushrooms next time.

weeee i am gooder though because if i said muller corner i must have just autot typed because they were true muller lights Grin. I couldnt get there to join tonight biut a friend has given me her literature till i get there tuesday so will have a read up. Today i had muller light and a banana for breakfast that felt very wrong then noodle salad with a dash of soy sauce for lunch with another muller, when i left work at 3 i was ravenous and nipped to the shop outside of school for some emergency salter french frie crisps which sorted me out - tea i did quorn bolognese and spagetti and having decided it was a green day i had buckets of spagetti and when ds left some o hoovered that too Blush. i feel stuffed to the hilt Blush. I need to be snack savvy i think. Can i ask - i had 2 emergency cream crackers and some virtually fat free cheese spread i was keeping in case i got ravenous at work but didnt (in hind sight that would have averged my french fries moment), anyway would that have been so bad or qould 2 ryvitas with said cheesey topping have been better - would i have ruined my day? I want a southern comfort and lemonade now as well - is that a no no?

No idea what to eat tomorow !

sorry hop you dont all hate me for my crappy typing.......

ninjanurse · 10/01/2013 19:51

Noyouhavehadawee - cream crackers are 1.5 syns each. Original Ryvitas are 1.5 as well. Low fat soft cheese is 1.5 syns per 25g.

Figureof80 - that dinner sounds lush. I did the lemony pork traybake out of the Jan SW mag. Was quite nice but OH looked at it and went out to get a Chinese. How rude!!

Today I have eaten
B - fruit and fibre and milk
L - salad - rice, smoked salmon, peppers, sweetcorn, lettuce, low fat mayo, mullerlight, banana
D - pork traybake with potatoes, onions and squash

Might push the boat out and have a 2 finger kitkat later.

How do them birdseye chicken chargrill things work out on sw? For convenience i was debating cooking one whacking in fridge and having it in a nice wholemeal sambo for my lunch tomorow. I just love eating and all this just makes me obsessed with food!

Have had another pretty good day, ended up having an unexpected pub lunch but had the Quorn chilli with plain rice and left the nachos [smug] which, having googled it, I hope was only 4.5 syns maximum.

Not good planning though as I then made the mexican bean bake from the magazine for dinner (I may not have many friends tomorrow with all these beans Blush) which was really good and has been demolished by DH.

Weigh-in tomorrow, keep your fingers crossed, I will be gutted if I haven't lost anything.

As usual I'm slipping in late at the back...

Mind if I join you? Started SW 8 weeks ago and have lost 17.5lbs so far, want to lose 3 stone altogether by my 40th in April - my DB gets married that week too so it's a double incentive...

I prefer EE tbh, easier to fit in with DCs food and have a pathological hatred of weighing/counting/measuring...

Report
BadRoly · 11/01/2013 13:27

I like EE too Weblette so we can all eat as a family. It has really caught dd1's attention (she is 11) and we are talking a lot about eating healthily, ie I'm not 'banned' from anything but just have 1 biscuit instead of 5.

She is not fat (can see tibs/spine etc) but is at an age where it could all start to go wrong. I don't think it is doing her any harm to see me snacking on apples and being careful about what I eat.
