Anyone else doing slimming world?

me23 · 04/01/2013 07:43

Hi all, I joined slimmig world yesterday as I finally ready and motivated to get this weight off. Anyone else? Is there a support thread for those following slimming world? As I couldn't see one on here. If not anyone interested in helping to support each other here?

Bosgrove - just looked back, how do you do syn-free crisps in the microwave?

Blonde drools

Syn free crisps? Do they actually taste nice

I seem to use my syns on ringos 4 and salad cream lite lol

I do like sw chips - always make out of sweet potato and yummy

Guess the same method apart from microwave - plus flavourings - cheese and onion / salt and vinegar and prawn would be fab
Or are they only ready salted ?

Syn free crisps - Get a sheet of lasagna, soak it in hot water for a few mins until it is soft but not cooked, cut into squares, and bake on a Fry-Lited baking tray for 2 or 3 mins. Cover in salt and pepper and dip in syn free hummous.

Lasagne as crisps????

I'm willing to try tomorrow - well today

Just finished feeding babs and could have done with crisps to munch on Grin

Instead I raided works fridge and had blueberries - bah humbug

How do you make syn free humous?

Thanks :)

BillyBolly if I use my yogurts as my 'b' then I have to Syn the milk in my tea. Sad I am SO envious of everyone who can snack on lovely Muller yogurts all day while I tuck into yet another tub of blueberries...

I subscribed to Graze a couple of months ago, thinking they would be a healthier choice for DD than a kitkat. She doesn't like the dried fruit, so I've been 'taking care' of it all. I think I need to cancel them!

We've now eaten all the Christmas chocs and biccies, and DD and DH are in for a shock next time they open the cupboards. We're all going on SW plan.

Syn free humous is easy - tin of chickpeas, a bit of garlic, a splash of lemon juice, and a tablespoon or two of water. Blitz it all in a blender. You can add a spoonful of fat-free fromage frais or quark to make it 'creamier'.

Watch the lasagne 'crisps', they are delicious (especially dusted with onion powder, weirdly!) but our SW consultant said they were a "guilty" free food, basically the ingredients are free but the way they're prepared makes it far too easy to eat much more than you usually would.

oops - I was having graze boxes and cancelled them this week as I don't want to waste syns on raisins Wink

Despite my attempts to self sabotage last night, I was 3lb off this morning which has given me the boost to really try hard this week. For now anyway...

Ohh can I join too please Smile

I'm going to sign up for the third time on Thursday, 3rd time lucky!

I need to lose roughly 6 stone Sad

My mum bought me a tandem sky five for Christmas which I need to be 15 stone for. I'm so disgustingly fat that I'm about 1.5 stones over that.

I'm so determined this time & I know that it works! Good luck to all of you.

i am doing this i think, i started today on instructions from a colleague. I have had
b - cheerios and milk
a muller breakfast corner
ham sarnie for lunch and a banana
then for my tea/ dinner sweet potato chips, frattata thingy with ham and onion in it and another banana. I might fancy 3 cream crackers about 8pm with some low fat cheese spread but dontknow if that will have been to much for the day. Think i need to join a group for guidance but hate that crack and am skint. I am 11st 10 and would like to be 9 and a half ish.

If i join online how quick does the literature come so i can be proper or should i just go along tomrow night and brazen it out and join? Anyway tell me what you think of my todays eatathon.

Wow 2 stone in 14 weeks - that's impressive! Did you find it easy?

Report
Blondeshavemorefun · 09/01/2013 18:20

noyou, you need some superfree for breakfast, fruit etc

some say lots of bananas a day hinder weight loss so be warned

if you have milk as your a then you need to syn the cheese in eve

you dont seem to have any syns, again sw say 10/15 a day ot 70/105 a week and then you can cut down if no loss;s

Those of you who do syn free sweet potato what exactly do you do? I do the syn free chips but find the sweet potato ones always stick and end up a mushy mess. Clearly I am doing something wrong!

Congrats on everyone who has had a loss!

Well done Vagazzled! Thanks Have you any tips for success? 14 weeks is good going.

Well I have had a better day Smile

Breakfast: Porridge with brown sugar (A =B and 1 syn)
Snacks: Grapes, blueberries and a pear.
Lunch: A big salad with 2 smoked mackerel fillets.
Caramel shape desert - I need to check but I think its 5 syns
Punnet of cherries.
Snack: Small punnet of raspberries.
Dinner: Salmon fillet cooked in foil with honey, mustard and soy sauce (I would say 1 syn for honey)Noodles and loads of stir fry veg.(Tip for veggies; DD is veggie and I made her quorn chunks soaked in the hney, mustard and soy sauce mix and she loved it)
Choc - A few nibbly bits which I would guestmate are 4 syns.

This is much better than yesterday. I also realised I need a substantial lunch to stop mne feeling so hungry when I am home. I went to delve into the cupboard earlier and managed to stop myself which is huge progress.

Blondes - thanks for the info on mugshots I shall look out for those.

It's 5.5 syns for the caramel desert but was lovely. My new trainers arrived today so I have set myself a goal of walking to work once a week (5 miles)

1st weigh in this morning and only 3 lb loss which is a bit disappointing for 1st week, usually can shift hal a stone in the first week of a diet. Still, onwards I go, will try to up my superfree this week.

Today I have eaten

B- fruit and fibre and milk
L - noodle salad, banana, raspberries
D - spiced chicken with peppers and onions and rice. Fresh pineapple and yogurt.

noyou - Looks like you are having too many bread type products. If you join online all the info is there so you don't need to wait for anything to come through the post.

As a quick guide to the Extra Easy plan (you can also do red or green but I don't much about those): 1/3rd plate should be superfree which is pretty much most fruits and Veg.
You then get free allowance of pasta, rice, cous cous and potatoes as well as lean meat, beans and fish.
You can than have one 'a' which is either milk or a portion of cheese or a couple of cheese triangle type things.
You can also have a 'B' which is 2 slices of wholemeal bread or a portion of cereal.
You also get 5-15 syns a day to spend on anything you like.

This is just a quick guide and others may add to it but really you need to join or at least pick up a magazine to understand it. Good luck.

Syn free crisps - slice potatoes very thinly, I use a potato peeler.

Spray a microwaveable plate with fry light

Place the sliced potato in a thin layer in the plate (make sure that they don't touch or they will stick together)

Spray Potatoes with fry light

Microwave on high for 30 sec bursts until cooked and crispy - watch all the time there is a narrow window between cooked and burnt.

Season as required, I like salt and black pepper.

I love the weeks in group we bring in our favourite syn free snacks

I'm hoping for a couple of lbs off in the next week. I lost 1.5 lbs last week and then put it all back on this week - Holiday too long, too much wine etc i think.

Today: no breakfast, but fruit mid morning. I usually have 0% yog and fruit or beans on toast but didn't have time for anything this morning.

Lunch: chicken sandwich - two large slices whole meal bread, so one was healthy extra, the other 6 syns

Snacks this afternoon: three clementines

Supper: homemade soup, with lentils and chickpeas and lots of different veg.

A banana

Not a drop of the hard stuff, it is only Wednesday....

So 6 syns today, hopefully the same tomorrow.

Off to have a read of the January magazine, I fancy something different at the weekend.

beanandspud · 09/01/2013 22:21

I made spaghetti with salmon and courgettes (from the January magazine) tonight which was surprisingly nice.

Even DH is enjoying SW food and so far it's not too much of a hardship although I suspect that he will do that really annoying male thing and lose a stone in two weeks without even trying

Going to try the crisps and houmous on Friday night - rock 'n' roll!!! Grin
