New Year Low Carb Bootcamp

1000 replies

BIWIshYouAMerryChristmas · 29/12/2012 21:30

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas, and that Santa brought you everything that you deserved! Xmas Grin

By now, I'm guessing that many of us will be rather tired of chocolates and stodgy food. Mince pie anyone? Xmas Wink

So. The next low carb Bootcamp will be starting on 7 January. It will run for 10 weeks, which will take us to mid-March. The idea of Bootcamp is that we have an initial strict fortnight, which will see a significant amount of weight loss, followed by a more relaxed 8 weeks.

Overall, if you follow the rules, you can expect to lose anything up to 20lbs in this time period.

So who is in?

If you want to join us, add your name to the list and tell us what your aims/objectives are.

I will start ...

Lucy. This is why I don't do Mfp. We are too conditioned to look at calorie intake.

It does work. We have many women on this thread that have lost stones and stones on this woe, some without exercising even.

Would we lie to you?? Promise promise promise. Stick with it and you will see. But don't cheat - high fat and high carb will mean you gain weight very quickly.

Biwi - thanks, maybe I'll do a morning coffee and an afternoon one and leave it at that!

I initially didnt feel too bad this morning, Ive had breakfast and lunch and a snack in between. Im not hungry and Im drinking enough water. However Im now feeling really tired, my arms feel almost achey and Im getting a bit of that 'spaced out' feeling going on. Any suggestions? Anything I should or shouldnt be doing?

Hello all! I was on Bootcamps earlier in the year, lost a good 2 stone, and then fell off the wagon with a resounding crash some time around my birthday in October. I was reasonably good even so until December when it all went a bit carb-crazy. I haven't dared weigh myself yet (last weighed just before Christmas at 9 stone 12, up from my personal best at 9 stone 8, but not terribly so) but my jeans are uncomfortably tight and my waist seems to have disappeared. Sad I start back to work on Monday after 10 months off on mat leave, eek! I'm restarting on Saturday because we are too broke post-Christmas to throw out the bread, potatoes etc, so are eating our way through them ready to go by the weekend.

cor Doshu you boring caaah Wink definitely ditch the marg, it's utter rubbish for both content and taste!

And Lucy it does work, but I think no cheating is good advice. fat and carbs are completely sabotaging for this WOE.

Although, I have to confess to just having had a redbull to sharpen my mind for studying - I'm so used to reading myself to sleep at night that reading text books automatically gets me drowsy and I don't know how else to deal with it!

Lunch was a boiled egg and fried chorizo salad which was just DIVINE! But now I'm fighting a craving for something sweet to 'finish' the meal. THIS TOO SHALL PASS etc.

Dosh I'm a pound up too...think my poor body is still rehydrating after New Year Blush altough I think I gained a few pounds when I started Bootcamp last time, then it all magically wooshed off....am very much looking forward to that happening!
Oh and pleeease keep talking about your experiences..I love the ideas and the reassurance that lots of people are having the same difficulties and successes, that's the good thing about this board..we can all drone on about our weight/food/wees/bowels without risking divorce!

Roobz - Redbull? Sucrose, glucose, sweeteners...What were you sayihng about carbs and fat togethe?

Peanut buttter - you have to read the label. Some of them are 15g/100g.

I second Lidl youghurt, but I have to pace myself. I bought one today and it's half-gone already (this is a 1000g tub!Shock) Def one tub a week.

Rooobs · 03/01/2013 13:56

captain it was a diet redbull, so no carbs, but still full of crap I admit!

Thanks everyone :) I'm going to keep the faith! I think it is the calorie conditioning, and the fact that the protein and fats are in the red! Only 27 carbs though, so I'll carry on. I need to buy some scales....

Afternoon all. Well it was very tricky to find anything I could munch on whilst shopping in M&S turns out their prawns contain sugar. 97% prawn. Salt. Sugar. That's all they said.
I got quite stressed out and will have halloumi, bacon and watercress.
I should have got cream to make watercress soup. I didn't get any meat either, kind of freaked out tbh.
I need to visit the recipe thread!

You can indeed eat fennel It is only 1.8g carbs per 100g.

Lucy - I know that it feels like a real leap of faith eating this way, after years and years of being told that fat is bad! But trust us. It does work, and you will lose weight. Please stop using MFP if you can't cope seeing the red! There is a calorie advantage eating this way, so you can ignore the calorie information.

Day 3 for me and I'm 5lbs down. I imagine that's all water weight after my carby-fest christmas and the weight loss will slow down now. Still, I'm happy with that.

Food wise I've been doing pretty good. I have low-carbed before so I think it was easy to switch my mindset to this WOE.

Breakfast today was 3 boiled eggs
Lunch was brocolli and stilton soup and some prawns.
Snacked on celery with blue cheese
Dinner will be poussin with creamed spinach.

Mmmmm, diet? What diet!!

Fennel? That reminds me of my special Italian Fish stew - white fish, tinned tomatoes, fennel.Slice of lemon. Served (normally) with crusty bread, but nowadays with brocoli and mayo)

You lot are eating much more interesting food than I!
I'm doing the food shop tomorrow. I'm loving I can eat Stilton though!

TooImatureMincePies Making your own carb soups and buying cheap cuts of meat helps your grocery money go a bit further. I bought enough shin beef for 5 adults in my local butcher last week for only £5.50. Bargain! Slow cooking gets it nice and tender!

Also, frozen veg is usually great value and there's no fear of it going off and becoming wasted like lots of fresh veg. I also buy packets of frozen prawns as they tend to be on offer in tesco and sainsburys all the time.
