New Year Low Carb Bootcamp

1000 replies

BIWIshYouAMerryChristmas · 29/12/2012 21:30

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas, and that Santa brought you everything that you deserved! Xmas Grin

By now, I'm guessing that many of us will be rather tired of chocolates and stodgy food. Mince pie anyone? Xmas Wink

So. The next low carb Bootcamp will be starting on 7 January. It will run for 10 weeks, which will take us to mid-March. The idea of Bootcamp is that we have an initial strict fortnight, which will see a significant amount of weight loss, followed by a more relaxed 8 weeks.

Overall, if you follow the rules, you can expect to lose anything up to 20lbs in this time period.

So who is in?

If you want to join us, add your name to the list and tell us what your aims/objectives are.

I will start ...

That was the recipe I was on and thinking yummy for lunch tomorrow - do I just excluded the blueberries as we aren't allowed fruit?

Question - can I eat goats cheese?

It keeps staring at me in the fridge and thought I could have with some leeks but feels naughty...

Please can someone add me as my non Christmas name Ben10NeverAgain. Dh and I are now on day 3. I wad going to wait for the 7th but we were feeling so crappy. Ice stone health problems like others on here so exercise is restricted but I'm so pleased to see the losses from others in the same position.

omg coco 7lbs since sunday?? WOW!

coldethyl I've been wondering the same. How do you teach children what is healthy and what isn't when we're given such conflicting messages, i.e. NHS says carbs are good, fat bad etc.

Confused

hello - I'd like to join too as a first timer.
Do I need to read 900+ messages to figure out what I need to do to get started on Monday? Thank you.

lavenderhoney I am starting on the 7th! So no need to worry, also helps if you can make some notes to yourself and put them on the fridge/larder to remind yourself why you are doing this. I am also making a meal plan so I'm not stuck for food at dinner time and then end up caving for some pasta!

Those peeing like racehorses - think it's to do with the fact that fat is locked into our cells along with 4xwater - so if you lose 1g fat,you also lose 4g water. This is (in part) also why you shoudl drink loads on this WOE

Am I the only one waiting for the 7th? You all seem very keen. I am dreading it now tbh. I always eat with the dc and cook them roast and stuff ( good old traditional grub) and it will be very hard seeing any spare roasties.

coldethyl. I have the same problem, as do most women in here who don't control their dc's eating all day.

Vnmum had some success with a book called 'eating like a dinosaur' I think, but her kids have packed lunches, mine don't.

Mine still eat pretty "normally" but I do try and limit their sweets and chocolate and crisps etc. they are a pretty normal weight so I will try not to fret about it too much - they eat the same meals as dh and I at the weekends although I add potatoes etc. they rarely eat pasta or rice anymore.

Oh another thing. I had a sore throat for at least six weeks. Only on the right had side. I realised yesterday its just gone Confused. My sinuses have been draining of fluid too and I'm peeing like a carthorse.
I'm quiet the catch.

ginot 5 pounds is ace, well done!

starfishenterprise luuurve your name, welcome!!

Thanks Roooobs, haven't been called a caaaah for ages! [considers name change] Grin

Just taken ds1 to a playmate with a mate from school who I have now discovered lives blooming MILES away!! There should be a rule about who we let our kids make friends with based on their distance from where you live.....

Snacks - baby bel, 1 teaspoon of PB ( get the sainsburys basics range one, lowest carb found so far, thanks Ewan)

Might try a bit of work, see how I get on. Bit scared....haven't done any for weeks!!!

Afternoon all. Good grief but I felt awful yesterday . I went up bed a 9 with a banging headache. I woke again at 10.30 and at 3 had to get up to hunt the house, for Syndol, that finally settled me and I think I fell asleep around 3.30. First day back at work though it was a training day.
Had bacon and eggs this morning, I was starting a bit later, I can't see that continuing.
Lunch was lettuce, cucumber, lovely ham and crumbled cheshire cheese.

I'm not very adventurous with food. I couldn't put cream in things because I don't like creamy sauces. I might try to make cauliflower cheese and a creamy pepper sauce, those are ok.

I had a couple of blackberries with double cream on them as a snack. Probably finish my soup tonight and I have Bovril on standby. I bought the chicken one as well but couldn't read the ingredients because I didn't have my reading glasses Hmm. I spent ages in Sainsbury's trying to read labels Grin.
My scales say I'm 12st, so that is 7lb off since sunday. But they are different scales so I'm not sure if that is accurate. I have definitely lost fluid, my face looks much better and I was able to put my engagement ring back on.

Prolificmincepiebreeder I was in Tesco this morning and they have all their Christmas cheeses reduced half price! Bought loads more stilton but it took all my willpower not to buy a mahoosive wheel of brie!
