Gained nearly 2.5 lb this week first time in my 6 weeks of doing this and I feel really crap about it. Not sure where I went wrong or if it's just one of those things. Am wondering if I'm not drinking enough.

LittleAbruzzenBear · 26/01/2013 08:05

Morning. I won't want to weigh myself next week as I always put on 3lbs when I'm due on, hate that. I am trying to drink more mrsnec and it does help I think. One of my best friends has just lost almost three stone in two months cutting out alcohol, anything with sugar, bread, pasta.... She is 5'9 and now weighs 9.5stone. She did it like that 6 years ago and put more weight back on a year later. Good for her if she sticks to it now, but I don't know what she expects everyone to feed her on when she visits as she won't even eat ryvita or oatcakes Confused. Cutting entire food groups out would certainly not work for me.

mrsnec · 26/01/2013 09:17

It must be a blip. MFP has been working for me but I have eaten more carbs than normal this week but still staying under cals. That was cos DH was looking at all my meals like he felt sorry for me having to eat bland food that's why I was doing all the Hairy Dieters stuff. I've tried low carb too but didn't last a day! Can limit them no probs though! I also have a friend who was like that too and agree was a nightmare when she came to visit. She got really paranoid about things too. I remember her rummaging through my bin once to double check the nutritional info of the sausages I cooked! Please don't let me get like that.

cinnamongreyhound · 26/01/2013 20:37

I would suggest drinking more or that its a hormonal thing if you've stayed under calories mrsnec :)

RGPargy · 26/01/2013 20:37

Oh god, low carbing does indeed get a not obsessive! Speaking as one of those obsessors!! Trouble is with me, I get to the point when I think oh sod it and end up splurging on carbs and wondering why I put a stone on in a month! Blush

RGPargy · 26/01/2013 20:38

*a bit obsessive lol

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 26/01/2013 21:22

RG......no you def do not have to be thin to do poling, its for all shapes and sizes. its brill for building up core and upper body strength. i was a bit of a wimp when i first started but am quite strong now Wink

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 26/01/2013 21:26

thanks for all the add ons!!!

struggle a bit weekends.....so want some choccy and some booze but resisting so far! why oh why is an apple not as appealing as a double decker Grin

mrsnec · 27/01/2013 08:58

Morning everyone! Happier today! Managed to get my water down yesterday and am down an lb overnight. Wasn't going to weigh everyday but it was doing my head in MFP telling me I'd only lost 1lb every time I login. Bit cross though that lass than 2 glasses of vino and 1 salty meal can cause nearly 3lb of fluid retention.

bucksmum71 · 27/01/2013 12:08

Oops went over calories by 950 yesterday - on the plus side we had a great night out but only had enough for either alcohol or food but I went for both! Never mind back on it today!

LittleAbruzzenBear · 27/01/2013 14:24

Betty agree, an apple is never as appealing as a double decker! If I feel the need for a choc fix this week (monthly hormonal nightmare that I will be) then I am going to eat an oatcake with Nutella on it. Not quite the same, but staves off the crazy chocolate fixation!

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 27/01/2013 16:58

i like the chocolate rice cakes as well.........or a cup of hot choc sometimes hits the spot too Smile

WiseKneeHair · 27/01/2013 17:04

A chocolate covered apple would do it for me. Grin
Tricky day yesterday, but doing better today.
Had a lovely lunch of fajitas and salad. Had two tortillas, when I had only planned one, but will have enough calories if I am careful for the rest of the day.
Sorry about the weight increase mrsnec, but glad it seems to be coming straight off again.

gobbymare · 27/01/2013 17:10

Anyone else keep going over on sugar ? I am finding that everyday I seem to be a few over even tho I dont eat sugary foods, or at least I think I dont, does natural fruit sugars count towards your sugar allowance ?

HeavenlyWineandRoses · 27/01/2013 19:23

Hello, another newbie here. I think I'm going to be addicted to this. What an amazing piece of software. I'm a Luddite and therefore gobsmacked by how clever it is. I am however a bit shocked at how quickly the calories add up. Gobby I am the same with the sugars. Went way over my allowance despite having what I thought was a really good day.

Very jealous of all you gym bunnies. My DD is 4 mo and glued to my boob most of the time so it will be a while before I get proper excercise although it is nice and hilly where I live and our buggy is a double buggy and amonster truck very heavy when loaded up with both kids and I'm always running late. Myfitnesspal doesn't seem to recognise this as exercise but my heart and lungs beg to differ.

My username's the same as on here if anyone would like to add me.

jchocchip · 27/01/2013 20:59

Hi I'm still plodding away on mfp same name as on here, if anyone wants to add me. Lost a fair bit and feel loads fitter. Will probably give up chocolate for lent which usually leads to a loss for some reason...

cinnamongreyhound · 27/01/2013 21:57

Ah chocolate! Hot chocolate is good or I used to buy a packet of freddos or the kids Cadbury bars for 110 calories :)

Welcome to new ladies, same name as here so feel free to add me, I'm
Maintaining but still pretty active!

And I'm always over on sugar, don't know what it included but my breakfast milk takes me over half!

Thanks to whoever recommended the NHS Change 4 Life App. It's great to have plenty of recipes as I find that diligent weekly meal-planning and shopping is the key. If I don't have a healthy meal planned with the ingredients bought, I tend to hit the chocolate. Slimming World also has great recipes on the website, not the app. I have made a few of them and they have tasted good.

SW weigh-in tomorrow. I missed last week because of the snow so am hoping for good news.

Nooneelseisallowedafergus · 28/01/2013 10:43

Marking place as not in my active convos anymore. Still plodding along too, a bit of a blip this weekend and a girls night out tonight, but I'll nurse a glass of wine for as long as possible and let them loose on the rest of the bottle!

WiseKneeHair · 28/01/2013 10:55

Welcome Heavenly. I'll add you. I know other people put walking with a buggy down as dog walking.
Weigh day for me tomorrow. Been good, but don't feel as if I've lost much, so we'll see.

barapapa · 28/01/2013 11:08

Hi all- some support desparately needed here. Today is Day 1 for me- and have a stone to lose to start. I work very long hours with a long commute so find fitting in exercise pretty impossible. I also have a cafeteria at work (free) so have all sorts of lovely things to constantly tempt me. I really need some help with my willpower. Any ideas for snacks? am starving as I type! Had porridge for breakfast and just had some walnuts.

LittleAbruzzenBear · 28/01/2013 14:12

Hi bara. I'm MrsDomini on MFP if any newbies want to add me.

Oatcakes are a brill snack, almonds and olives too. Like you, I don't have time for exercise other than the walking I do to school so I have to watch the calories. Some of us on here are using the NHS Change4Life App which DoubleMum told us about and it's really useful. It has recipes and ideas for snacks as well as breakfast etc.

I am trying a 600 calorie day today - eek! - but so far it is going ok. I missed breakfast as I am so busy then away, had lunch at 1pm and then will have my light dinner at 5pm. I may be ravenous tomorrow so will have to make sure I don't overdo it.

LittleAbruzzenBear · 28/01/2013 14:34

*busy then anyway, that should say

cinnamongreyhound · 28/01/2013 14:39

How about a lunchtime walk/run/cycle/swim to help you get exercise and keep you away from the cafeteria barapapa?
