A shiny new thread for existing users of mfp and for anyone new who would like to join us for support, bottom kicking and general chatting :)

Old thread here

On the homepage, I see messages when my friends have lost weight, or completed their diary for the day, or you can post messages. You can opt to keep your food diary private, or share it. I tend to click on others food diaries for inspiration!

Doogle2 · 15/01/2013 11:05

Thanks for replying - I like the idea of getting food ideas. Might have to put my wine consumption down as 'grapes' to make me look good though! Wink

mrsnec · 15/01/2013 12:00

That made me laugh doogle about grapes! But everyone is being brutaly honest on their diaries. Or, I think most folks on this thread are, me included. You'll get inspiration and see we're all human and you can still be under calorie goal with plenty of treats!

WiseKneeHair · 15/01/2013 12:24

Doogle
MFP is great, as is this thread, as we are all giving each other support.
I love it when people make their diaries public as I like to have a nose. Grin
If you tell us your username on MFP, you'll get lots of friend requests.

Doogle2 · 15/01/2013 12:28

My username is doogle3. Do I need to do anything to make it public so you can all see? Looking forward to exchanging support. Thanks.

WiseKneeHair · 15/01/2013 12:37

I'll send you a friend request, then you just need to accept it please.
I'm HappyKite on MFP.

PrannyHamster · 15/01/2013 12:49

Hello, joined MFP yesterday. I don't want to lose much (only about a stone) before I feel I'd be at my ideal weight. I eat quite healthily and have a lot of veg, pulses, nuts etc (I'm vegan so no meat or dairy) but my main downfall is huge portion sizes! Already I've realised from looking at the calories of different foods on MFP that I need to cut down a lot on how much is on my plate (especially starchy things like rice, pasta and bread) and will now be measuring and weighing things before eating until I start to know the right amount by eye.

Please feel free to add me, my username is prannyhamster and I have no friends! Grin

Doogle2 · 15/01/2013 13:10

Thanks Wise knee - have accepted. Will try to set a good example.

cinnamongreyhound · 15/01/2013 13:55

I agree with WiseKneeHair cheerup, I always gain at totm and when I'm ovulating. Also agree about weighing as it can be hard to estimate and we often underestimate as it suits us better Wink

Welcome everyone else who is new :) my mfp username is the same as here so feel free to add me.

Hi all, feel free to add me too - I'm Sastra on MFP Smile

Confitdecanard · 15/01/2013 18:09

Hi all, cheerup did you say you weighed yourself in the evening? I think you can be heavier at night so best to do it in the morning (post toilet trip!!).
I'm finding mfp really motivating (maybe getting a bit obsessed!). Feel free to add me - same username as here.
doogle2 I'm with you on the grapes - I was a bit embarrassed by my weekend wine consumption!

cheerup · 15/01/2013 20:55

Hi. Confitdecanard I did weigh in the evening so it might have been that. Wisekneehair & Cinnamongreyhound- I've had my Implanon implant removed today (horray!) so not currently sure when my time of the month is as the whole cycle has been all over the place for the past three years. I don't think I'm underestimating although I haven't been weighing absolutely everything. I think I will do as someone suggested and take some measurements rather than making it all about weight.

Really enjoying the working out - gives me a real buzz. Don't know why I didn't start doing it years ago! The food is a bit harder but finding the hairy dieters recipes really good. Fortunately, I love vegetables so am weaning myself of my previously beloved carbs (crisps followed by two bowls of pasta followed by bowl of rice pudding anyone?). Am missing wine but as I usually accompany it with crisps, it's probably a good thing that I'm committed to an alcohol free January. Day 10 and it's going OK Smile despite not losing as much as fast as I had hoped.

Nooneelseisallowedafergus · 16/01/2013 07:26

I can't work put how to view others food diaries on MFP? Help me please!

Chopstheduck · 16/01/2013 07:53

on the homepage, where the news feed is, there are updates that say things like -

Chopstheduck completed her food and exercise diary for 01/15/2013 and was under her calorie goal. View diary

And the 'view diary' is a clicky

LittleAbruzzenBear · 16/01/2013 07:57

Hi everyone. After being, ahem, slack on the MFP front, I'm back on. I'm 'MrsDomini'. Will try and stick to it this year.

WiseKneeHair · 16/01/2013 10:44

Noone you will only be able to view the diaries of those that have allowed their friends to see them.
Welcome back to MFP Little. I had to delete all my 2010 data when I restarted this year. It was really annoying as I weighed about 10lbs less then!

Chopstheduck · 16/01/2013 12:19

I've jsut had to edit my data. Bought some new scales, because my old ones were very glitchy. I am 8lbs heavier than I thought I was

I know at least I have still lost weight, jsut a bit more to lsoe than I realised!.

LittleAbruzzenBear · 16/01/2013 12:21

I think I need to purchase some new scales too. Mine are a bit knackered really!

WiseKneeHair · 16/01/2013 12:32

Oh fuck Chop, I've just ordered new scales. I think they will be delivered today. If they say I am 8lbs heavier, I think I'll continue to use the old ones.

Chopstheduck · 16/01/2013 12:47

my old ones were creaking every time I stood on them, and I'd weigh about 6 times every time I wanted to check and get a variation of 4lbs either way, so they had to go. :(

Hopefully yours will be fine.

cinnamongreyhound · 16/01/2013 13:44

I use the app and from there you go to more and then settings and you have news feed settings, diary sharing settings etc.

Also cheerup, make sure you're drinking plenty of water it really does help!
