The NO EXCUSES, Now or NEVER slimming thread

Youcanringmybell · 30/08/2012 16:08

This is a thread for those who are pig sick of over eating and binging and have decided enough is enough.

There will be no excuses on this thread...no 'oh but I was due my period' or 'oh but it was left over so I finished it' etc

IF you need to have a nice meal as part of a celebration DO IT but no more excuses - have the meal and move on.

This is a thread for the brave.....this is a thread for the serious. Join at your peril.....

Monday mornings are weigh in - so that we cannot binge on the weekends. I am deliberately being hard on myself and if you want to do it to please join. Even if someone wafts wine and banoffee pie under my nose I will not have it - even if the world is going to end I WILL NOT HAVE IT

weigh in Monday morning and post here

Oh and drink some wine and eat some choc while you still can because on Monday you will be in hell Angry

Please may I join?
I need motivation. DD back at school on Monday. Visiting friend in late October (I haven't seen her for a couple of years) I MUST be thinner!
Target will be 9st 12lbs............ But aim to lose 7lbs before holiday.
I WILL walk my dogs more!
I WILL put some effort in at the gym!
I am going to try the 5:2 approach ......or maybe 4:3

buggyRunner · 01/09/2012 17:29

those who excersize post on here what you did- ie distance, time, weights etc.

we can see our progress and find opportunities to improve.

for example I went on a 3.5 mile run this morning- should have been a 4 mile minimum or I'm just not pushing myself enough. (I run a lot which is why 3.5 was the easy option)

I also want abs again so I'm going to do sit-ups every day

cantmakecarrotcake · 01/09/2012 19:39

Exercise: I did an hour's heavy pruning of a hugely overgrown climbing rose. Does that count?

calmlychaotic · 02/09/2012 02:10

can I join, I need to lose a stone, probably more. just went to a bbq and ate everything just no need!

juicy274 · 02/09/2012 10:05

I did 40 lengths swimming yesterday in about 45 mins. Off to aqua class this afternoon.

Just had weetabix and grapes for breakfast. What is everybody eating for lunch and dinner today? Need some inspiration before I go to Sainsburys.

Tschiffely · 02/09/2012 10:43

Weighed myself for the first time in six weeks, I am 11 8, which is only a 4lb gain but has made a huge difference to me actually fitting into my clothes. I am in a blind panic presently as my work clothes do not fit or more to the point, I don't fit into them Grin. I am thinking a week of salad/soup could do the trick [crosses fingers].

Yy to not fitting in my clothes. I have so many lovely clothes for work that I just cannot get my mahoosive arse into at the moment. I'm really looking forward to fitting in my lovely pencil skirts again!!

buggyRunner · 02/09/2012 11:55

married can you get your Dh to give you a bit of training? of course you can join - don't expect an easy ride- we are all
going to lose weight. every fucking one of us!

think ive lost the plot!

cantmakecarrotcake · 02/09/2012 13:17

This is not an excuse, it's a PITA...

We have to phone and book classes 7 days in advance, so if I phone tomorrow I can only book for next Mon when we're on holiday. I'll try and remember to phone while we're away and book for the following week.

Supported DH at a 5 mile race today. I'm vaguely inspired so might get off the sofa and do something later.

buggyrunner how do you find running with a buggy? I can't imagine it's easy.

Whatwhatwhat · 02/09/2012 13:31

Can I barrel in here too? I'm aiming for the holy 140 too.
Overeating is killing me.

Tschiffely · 02/09/2012 13:44

I know everyone raves about the Shred but I am way too much of a wuss for that. I can't afford gym etc but I did find on youtube a workout called Bootcamp Calorie Burn (Enviga the Calorie burner) and I managed to complete it first time Grin. I am hoping to be motivated to do it most days, would like to say everyday but know that is unrealistic. Anyone else got any good online workouts?

MrsTomHardy · 02/09/2012 13:58

I joined Weight Watchers last Thursday... I have 6 stone to lose Sad

Its been ok so far but struggling today....think its because im at home all day doing housework plus sunday is roast dinner day......

Tschiffely · 02/09/2012 14:38

MrsHardy, you've taken the first step though in joining WW Grin. Have you read the other thread on here - those who have lost 2 stone or more, inspiring.

FermezLaBouche · 02/09/2012 15:04

Oh this is a brillliant thread, can I join in?

I start a brand new job tomorrow after 6 weeks of eating utter crap and drinking far too much. I need to buy some bathroom scales tomorrow but I have a horrible, horrible feeling I weigh in the region of 18 stone. I AM GOING TO GET TO 13!!!! I am a size 18/20 - oh sod it, ok, a 20, and I am desperate to be a 14/16. I know this is still big to many people but for me it was when I felt my happiest and healthiest and looked my best.

Crimes against my body:

  • making massive meals intending to "freeze them for another day" then eating the other portion later on.
  • buying things like stilton cheese and pick, pick, picking until it's all gone and I feel sick.
  • Red wine. Too much, too often.

Pledges:
To get into the NO EXCUSES spirit of this thread and to stick to a crap-free diet including normal-sized portions of food.

I hope we can all do this. Although I've hated my fat apron for ages, I've never done anything whole-heartedly done anything about it.

Youcanringmybell · 02/09/2012 15:33

GOOD AFTERNOON - just touching base with you all before the actual OFF tomorrow.

I hope you are all feeling angry enough to make a difference to your eating regimes...I know I am.

WE ARE GOING TO BE IN THIS TOGETHER-

NO PAIN NO GAIN - just think we will NOT go into another new year HEAVY. We are going to make the change because we are no longer WEAK and food has NO INFLUENCE over us.

Food is for fuel.
Thankyou for joining me on this. I have always given myself so many excuses for eating. That is over now.

NO MORE FEELING LIKE WE ARE WEARING FAT SUITS!!!

See you in the morning my WARRIORS xxxx

Goldidi · 02/09/2012 16:43

Fermez I'm an 18/20 (20 if I'm really honest) and I want to be a 14 too. I don't think I can realistically maintain anything smaller than that and at 5'10" I think a 14 would look reasonably slim. It does on my sister.

I am starting the couch to 5k running programme on Tuesday (because that's when I take dd1 to orchestra and I get an hour to myself). I don't think it should cost too much as I can do it outdoors (or if it's raining I will pay as I go to the leisure centre gym to use the treadmill). I'm aiming to do that Tuesdays, Wednesdays (finish work an hour early) and then once at the weekend. So in 9 weeks you will spot me running 5k and looking fit and healthy (or at least, fitter and healthier than I am now)

noddyholder · 02/09/2012 16:44

I need to do this

MrsTomHardy · 02/09/2012 16:48

Not seen the thread but i will look for it now. Thanks Smile

FermezLaBouche · 02/09/2012 17:12

Wow, Goldidi, that's impressive! I have always hated running. With a passion. Oddly though, I really enjoyed the cross trainer when I was a member of the gym. First attempt was about 5 minutes then death. But slowly I built up and up until I could comfortably to 45 minutes at a decent speed. Wish I had kept it up.

kittyk1 · 02/09/2012 17:25

I'd like to join. 2 stone post baby weight to shed. Well actually shouldn't really be using post baby as an excuse anymore, it's cake and crisps weight. Want to get to 140llbs as well. Eaten rubbish all weekend so tomorrow it starts!!!

buggyRunner · 02/09/2012 17:38

running in the rain is one of my fave things to do! eating salad on the other hand isn't! I have not weighed myself in s few days to
keep tomorrows number a suprise!

I am going to add that when I have shed the weight I here by pledge to get a pair of nice boots for winter! as my incentive!

ParaOlympicpark · 02/09/2012 18:04

Ok, am joining....... Also need to lose three stone, and am a size 20, all stomach so can get away with looking like a 16 if you don't look at my stomach. What time is the weigh in, might struggle to post before tea time but will weigh first thing.
Can't go running as have a 'ladies problem' caused by having two children but I am planning to go to the gym starting on the 17th of sep every Monday morning.
As this seems like a min confessional here goes;
I eat two packets of crisps rather than one.
I often have cheese on top of (far too large portions) my dinner.
I often eat a bits of the kids tea then have a big tea later as well.

Please please harass me as much as necessary.
Off to have some wine before I weigh in tomorrow!! (pizzas at work as school training dayso will take in soup. )
