The NO EXCUSES, Now or NEVER slimming thread

Youcanringmybell · 30/08/2012 16:08

This is a thread for those who are pig sick of over eating and binging and have decided enough is enough.

There will be no excuses on this thread...no 'oh but I was due my period' or 'oh but it was left over so I finished it' etc

IF you need to have a nice meal as part of a celebration DO IT but no more excuses - have the meal and move on.

This is a thread for the brave.....this is a thread for the serious. Join at your peril.....

Monday mornings are weigh in - so that we cannot binge on the weekends. I am deliberately being hard on myself and if you want to do it to please join. Even if someone wafts wine and banoffee pie under my nose I will not have it - even if the world is going to end I WILL NOT HAVE IT

weigh in Monday morning and post here

Oh and drink some wine and eat some choc while you still can because on Monday you will be in hell Angry

Hello - now is the time. Enjoy your weekend love and then the hard work starts for us all.

We have NO EXCUSES rule here. You DO NOT eat crap. You no longer like it, it will make you feel worse and it will achieve nothing.

You will go through WITHDRAWAL - you may feel like drinking bleach by day three, you will get the shakes and think Hungar pangs are your insides mutinying against you.

but FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION.
Shout, scream and smash stuff - I don't care. YOU ARE GOING TO LOSE WEIGHT.

Well we are in this together. You are as good as sisters to me now!!

Goodluck for Monday folks. Everyone's that has put their eating plan sounds like the weight will fall off. Taking no prisoners I think!

I am having porridge breakfast (skimmed milk)
Soup for lunch or fruit and yoghurt
Dinner is weight watchers meal and extra veg or salad.
Evening snack is fruit.
Tea and coffee as well.

I am going to be doing the 5:2 fast as well. That is eating 5 days a week and on the fast days just having fruit and water.
If it makes me feel too ill or stops me from running I will stop the fasting days.

I'm hungry today and trying not to give in to the things I really want. So far I've resisted the urge to eat a chocolate biscuit and a millionnaires shortbread, but I'm sitting here at work trying to resist the little chocolate stash myself and my office-mate have.

I WILL EAT AN APPLE!

On the plus side, I already feel a bit more like myself and not a beached whale so I'll take comfort from that. I'm hoping the Monday weigh-in will show some results. My first goal is 11.5 stone which is my post-baby weight, then I'll try for pre-baby.

My food today will be:

Breakfast: Bran flakes with raisins and skimmed milk, glass of orange juice
Snack: handful of grapes, handful of raisins
Lunch: WW soup with 2 slices toast
Snack: Apple and banana
Dinner: Fish fillet, low fat oven chips and veg (usual meal just smaller portion), glass of wine (maybe 2) Wine Wine, and strawberries/raspberries for pud.

I know the wine is naughty, but I need a vice. I can't even switch it for a sugar-free fizzy drink as the dentist told me off for it and gave me 3 fillings. Blush

Afternoon all

I have just been shopping and bought my LAST EVER packet of Mikado's because they are the devil's work and I won't like them after Monday.

I don't have an eating plan as such, I'm going to be doing the 5:2 fasting as well, cutting out all the crap, I am also giving up cola and alochol and swapping it for fruit juices and I will even begin to drink water..I WILL ENJOY IT

Looked at my Zumba DVD's last night and there is a 10 day fat loss programme, which looks like it will hurt but be totally do-able so that will start Wednesday after my evil evening shifts

Youcanringmybell · 31/08/2012 16:22

Fuckity - you have clearly absorbed the essence of this thread....you will not like them on Monday [smug]

Any particular days you are going to fast? I think I will do Mondays and Thursdays. I just have to feed my children on those days and tell myself the kitchen is closed.

OP posts:
FuckityFuckFuck · 31/08/2012 16:46

My fast days will change week by week. I think it will be easier for me if I fast the days I work in the evening, less temptation and more to distract me from my hunger, and the added bonus of not having to eat at midnight when I get home

Tuesday and Friday next week. I bought grapes today and they are now in the freezer specially for my fast days

Youcanringmybell · 31/08/2012 16:52

Well if I don't get anything useful out of this thread then atleast I have learned that you can FREEZE GRAPES Shock

I won't be doing any hardcore dieting, I will just be eating healthily as I am still bf dd2. I will be following the SW plan I think but won't be going to the meetings as they are on Sat mornings (my lie in day and I will not give that up for anyone!) or Monday evenings when dp is at work and I don't fancy taking a toddler with me to meetings. I have all the books etc from last time I did it, I just need to do it and keep up the motivation I think.

FuckityFuckFuck · 31/08/2012 16:55

You can indeed!

It's a faff, cos you need to pull them all off the stalk but then just put them into a container (or many little containers if you are terribly organised), and freeze them.

If you eat them frozen, they are like little sorbets. If you take them to work and let them defrost, they will still be nice and cold when you eat them :)

Jodidi · 31/08/2012 16:57

I've heard of the freezing grapes thing too but never tried it. Someone told me they were like boiled sweets, I didn't believe them.

cantmakecarrotcake · 31/08/2012 17:14

We were told by our NCT teacher that frozen grapes were good for eating during labour.

Oddly, 4 days in to my induction when I was on a syntocinon drop, epiduralled up to the eyeballs and massively sleep deprived, it wasn't high on my list of things I needed (a baby, a c-section, some sleep)...

kaytola · 31/08/2012 17:21

Think I'll be going down the SW route. A mate of mine has lost a stone on it in the last month and if she can do it, then I can do it!

Positive thinking, see? Just got to eat these two bags of minstrels that I have left and thats it. Honest...Smile

I am worried about hunger pangs though. I get munchies a lot. Anyone got any 'treats' that are virtuous? Apart from the frozen grapes of course (genius!).

MaggieMcVitie · 31/08/2012 17:26

I'm going to use myfitnesspal - a bit like WW but free!

Having a curry with friends tonight, but as tomorrow is the 1st I'm going to start in the morning....(not too sure about the frozen grape thing)...

juicy274 · 31/08/2012 17:47

Hello...
Can I join in? I'm going to do SW red days (roughly), just generally cutting down the crap and upping the exercise really. I have joined a shiny new gym today with a lovely pool. I'm planning to swim an hour at least 4 times a week (and sit in the jacuzzi for half an hour too!)

My initial target is 12 stone (hopefully by xmas).

I love frozen grapes, they last for ages and feel quite naughty for some reason. Frozen bananas are yummy too! Stick them through a skewer, freeze and then lick like a lolly pop.

jeansdoneupwitharubberband · 31/08/2012 18:38

sigh. count me in, i just started sw today. My sister lost 17lbs in three months earlier this year doing it and thats roughly what i want to lose by christmas, 11 stone down to 9.5. I weighed 10.13 this morn so if im more than that on monday morn you will know i have cheated!
bad habits such as too much processed ready meal food, chocolate and the glorious pizza hut and too little none at all exercise.
Ds starts fs2 on wed so i will have a lot more time to fit in workouts as well as work thru the day. I have p90 torture workout dvds to do everyday.
Im writing this all down so i cant back out!!

FuckityFuckFuck · 31/08/2012 20:49

Frozen bananas! Gonna try that.

I think I am going to have to clear my little freezer and make it my 'frozen fruit only' freezer :o

My frozen bananas don't go black, but I just do one at a time, peeled and frozen overnight.

I have begun in earnest, Just been for my first swim. Managed 44 lengths. Good start. First official weigh in on the machine at the gym tomorrow. I thought that I could use that once a week as my 'official' weight. Hopefully that will put paid to the constant scale hopping I usually do at home.

marriedtoagoodun · 31/08/2012 21:48

Can I join? DH just about to come back from 6 month operational tour - was suppossed to be 2 stone lighter but am 2 stone heavier :( Have thyroid condition and take lots of pain meds (no excuses but just stating the facts). Never seem to lose weight even by the end of the 8th or 9th hour of dieting, but guess I just have to try harder.......

Monday will be the start of something new. Note to self - eat all the Thornton buttons now as the children will not appreciate them....

friendly7 · 31/08/2012 22:39

May I please join you? I like your ideas and I find reading the postings very inspiring :)

zlist · 01/09/2012 09:57

I got to this point in early August, whilst on holiday. After months and months of wanting to get on a diet but never quite managing something finally snapped. I've lost a stone since then but I am going to lose another 3-4 stone over the next sixth months. No more excuses, I am just doing it.

ImCoveredInBeeeees · 01/09/2012 12:09

Please can I join in too?

I am the heaviest I have ever been, excluding pregnancy. I got here by eating a whole load of crap, constantly, every day. My ds is two now, and I think one of my reasons for eating so much is because I was sleep deprived for the first year of his life. The food made me feel a bit better! However, I have always been inclined to binge eat and boredom eat, but this year it has really gotten out of hand.

And the really annoying thing is that none of this weight is baby weight because I lost it all six months after he was born!! I have managed to put this on all by myself!

So my plan is to low-ish carb, fast for 16 hours every day (ie between 8pm and noon) and to exercise three times a day (30 mins in a morning, 15 mins after work and 15 mins in the evening). I will drink coffee before my morning work outs to increase my metabolism. I will not worry about calories or fat content.

I know that I need to lose a big heap of this weight quickly because I am putting my health at risk being so big, and also I know that I will lose interest if I don't see results ASAP.

I need to lose 2 stone to be happy with myself.

Tschiffely · 01/09/2012 13:25

I am VERY unhappy with myself. Piled a stone on last winter, didn't get rid of it. Have eaten my body weight in rubbish this summer so am probably stone plus than a year ago GRRRRRR.
